Rodong Sinmun on Three Principles of National Reunification
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- 33 years ago, President Kim Il Sung met with the south side's delegate who came here to attend the High-Level Political Talks between North and South of Korea and clarified the three principles of national reunification, the cornerstone for the accomplishment of the cause of national reunification.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed article.
It says:
The three principles of national reunification are the most just and reasonable programme for reunification as they indicate the principles and ways of smoothly achieving the reunification of the country by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation without any deviation in view of its demand for independence and interests, the essence and nature of the issue of national reunification and the reality of the divided country.
The principle that national reunification should be achieved independently without reliance on outside forces and free from their interference is a fundamental principle, the lifeline of the cause of national reunification.
The three principles of national reunification turn the cause of national reunification into the Koreans' cause of independence both in name and reality and provide a sure guarantee for its victorious accomplishment as they regard the principle of independence as a fundamental stand and principle to be adhered to in the struggle for national reunification.
The principle that national reunification should be achieved by peaceful means without resorting to arms is one which indicates a basic way of settling the issue of national reunification in the common interests of the Korean nation.
It is only the Korean nation that will suffer from a fratricidal war and this will only give foreign forces a chance to fish in troubled waters. The Korean nation stands for peace and peaceful reunification. The principle of peaceful reunification is, indeed, the most just way of national reunification which fully accords with the will and interests of the Korean nation.
The principle that great national unity should be promoted by transcending the differences in ideology, ideal and social system is a sure guarantee for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification.
The three principles of national reunification are highly important guidelines to be held high by all the Koreans desirous of the reunification of the country and a charter for reunification to be invariably maintained and implemented by them till the country is reunified no matter how the situation and circumstances may change.
Japan's Pitch for Permanent Membership of UNSC Flailed
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- 26 organizations of different circles in south Korea such as the Citizens Solidarity for Peace and Reunification, the Human
Rights Committee of the south Korean Council of Christian Churches, the Hungsadan and the Youth Federation of south Korea and 20 public and overseas Korean organizations active in China, Japan, the U.S. and so on reportedly issued an international solidarity statement on Apr. 29 denouncing Japan for making a bid for permanent membership of the UNSC.
The statement said:
We cannot repress our resentment at Japan working hard to revive militarism as it has tampered with its history of aggression and beautified and justified its criminal acts, thereby rubbing salt into the wounds inflicted by it upon great many Asians, though it should feel responsibility as a war criminal state.
Japan has evaded the settlement of its past crimes, an attitude quiet different from other war criminal states. It has turned its face away from the elementary rights of those who underwent all sorts of misfortune and sufferings due to its past policy of aggression and their descendants. This is the "conscience" of Japan at present.
We are strongly opposed to Japan's impudent bid for a permanent membership of the UNSC on behalf of all the Asians who fell victim to the Japanese imperialist aggression in the past, in solidarity not only with the forces of conscience in Japan but with the forces around the world aspiring after lasting peace in Asia.
DPRK's Stand on UNSC Reform Clarified
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea calls for making sufficient discussions of all proposals and making tireless efforts to reach a consensus, not setting an artificial deadline for the reform of the UN Security Council, said the DPRK delegate.
Making clear the stand of the DPRK at an unofficial meeting of the plenary session of the UN General Assembly on the UNSC reform on April 27, he called for a unanimous agreement of the member states and voiced opposition to setting the criterion of election of a permanent member of the UNSC with main stress on financial contribution.
Drawing attention to the fact that Japan has not settled the anti-human war crimes it committed last century, though 60 years have passed, and it teaches a distorted history to the younger generation, beautifying its crime-woven history, and intentionally causes territorial disputes with its neighboring countries, he said those neighboring countries which fell victims to Japan's aggression in the past are strongly opposed to its permanent membership of the UNSC.
If a country which is stepping up preparations to repeat past war crimes is admitted as a permanent member of the UNSC, merely because it donates a huge amount of money to the UN, we will not be able to talk about justice, international peace and security and credibility of the UN, he stressed.
Japan Hit for Mock Exercise of Preemptive Attack
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- It has been disclosed recently that the Japanese reactionaries staged in top secrecy a mock exercise of preemptive attack on the premise of the U.S. support under the cloak of a "reaction to a missile attack" from the DPRK.
According to Japanese Sankei Shimbun, the Japan Defence Agency examined an operation of a preemptive strike at the missile base of north Korea and staged a mock exercise of an attack by fighters of the Air "Self-Defense Force" in 1994.
Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Tuesday says:
"Missile threat" from someone over which the Japanese reactionaries are raising a terrific hue and cry is sophism prompted by their vicious intention to justify the establishment of the U.S. missile defense system and give a facade of justification to their reinvasion design and moves of preemptive attack. The DPRK has made it clear more than once that its peaceful missile program can never be a threat to those countries which are not hostile toward it.
Today the Japanese reactionaries are hastening the establishment of a triangular missile defense system with the U.S. and south Korea. They are seeking a preemptive attack on the DPRK, instigated by the U.S.
Capitalizing on the U.S. imperialists' policy of stifling the DPRK, they are speeding up preparations for a preemptive strike at the DPRK and, at the same time, getting overheated in their maneuvers to grab Tok Islet and introduce sanctions against it, thus driving the DPRK-Japan relations to the worst phase and rendering the regional situation strained.
It is the invariable intention of the Japanese reactionaries to realize their reinvasion scheme without difficulty with the backing of the U.S.
If they opt for an adventurous preemptive attack, the army and people of the DPRK will deal an annihilating blow to them by every possible means.
Endorsement of Distorted History Textbook in Japan Lambasted
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on April 25 passed the history textbook for middle schoolers made by the Society for History Textbook Reform, an ultra-right conservative organization.
Noting that the history textbook is full of lavishing praises on and beautification of the crimes committed by Japan in Asian countries in the past, a Minju Joson analyst Tuesday says:
With regard to Korea, for example, the textbook distorts the Japanese imperialists' military aggression and colonial rule over it as "Japan's march into the Korean Peninsula for self-defense", while beautifying them as something "helpful to the modernization of Korea."
And it must not go unnoticed that such extra-large anti-human crimes committed by Japan as the forcible drafting of Koreans and the sex slavery for the imperial Japanese army are completely struck out from the textbook and Tok Islet, an inviolable part of the Korean territory, is described as "part of Japan's territory."
The present behavior of Japan related to the issue of history obviously indicates that Japan is longing for its past appearance and taking great pains to go back to those days.
How a country approaches history is a touchstone suggesting the orientation of its political development. Take Germany for example. It has honestly reflected on history and shown zeal in settling its past crimes, thus winning the confidence of the international community.
But Japan has taken a road quite contrary to this.
The intention and reactionary scheme behind the distortion of history make the international community draw without difficulty the conclusion that Japan is pursuing a war, not peace.
It is the present look of Japan that the whole state is rapidly stepping into militarism, fascism and rightist reaction for a war.
This must be checked at any cost as it is a very dangerous development from the viewpoint of peace in Asia and the rest of the world.

Pyongyang, May 3(KCNA) -- "Tongukyojisungram" (50 volumes) is a geography book published in 1481 by 23 scholars and politicians including Ryang Song Ji (1415-1482), Ro Sa Sin(1427-1498) and Kang Hui Maeng (1422-1483).
The book contains data from the book "Paldojiriji" (Geography of eight provinces) and other Korean documents, prose and poems and materials collected from local areas. "Naked America"
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- A year has passed since the abuses of detainees by U.S. troops at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq were disclosed.
They forced stripped Iraqi detainees to build a human pyramid and to imitate indecent conduct. And a servicewoman leashed the neck of a naked Iraqi detainee to drag him like a dog. Such inhuman abuses committed by American soldiers in Iraq have still enraged people.
The criminal acts, perpetrated under the patronage of the U.S. administration and upper echelons of the military, are not an issue limited only to the Iraqis.
Human dignity is trampled down ruthlessly everywhere the U.S. aggression forces reach.
The 60-year-long occupation of south Korea by the U.S. imperialists is a crime-woven history full of brutal rape, gang-rape, violence and human-slaughter.
Innumerable are such crimes U.S. troops have committed in south Korea as the murder of Yun Kum I and close haircutting of a woman in Tongduchon.
Famous writer of Korea Paek In Jun, in his satire "Naked America" written in the early 1960s, said GIs stripped a south Korean woman naked and painted her body before driving her out in street, but it is the American imperialists who are naked before human conscience, fully revealing their true colors as beasts.
What the United States, which does not feel shame at being naked under the eyes of humankind, has done only shows that "justice", "freedom" and "defence of human rights" on its lips are all hypocrisy.
