National Seminar on Juche Idea and Reality of DPRK Held in Sweden

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- A national seminar on the Juche idea and the reality of the DPRK was held in Malmo, Sweden, on May 23 on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea under the sponsorship of the Swedish National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea. Referring to the great vitality of the immortal Juche idea, speakers said that the Korean people are resolutely frustrating the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK with the might of the Songun politics based on the Juche idea, firmly convinced of their cause.
Though the DPRK where the Juche idea is fully embodied in all spheres is small in size, it enjoys high authority and dignity without parallel, they noted, adding this is a great fruition of the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il.
The chief of the Group for the Study of Works of Kim Jong Il in Denmark present at the seminar on invitation gave his impressions of the DPRK he visited on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
Present there were figures of various social standings including the chairman of the Communist Party of Sweden.

Joint History Textbook Published

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Historians, teachers and civic activists of south Korea, China and Japan published joint Northeast Asia history textbook "History Opening the Future", according to the south Korean CBS. The publication of the textbook is aimed at dealing from an objective point of view with the modern and contemporary history of Northeast Asia that suffered from aggression and war in order to provide a framework for reflecting on the past history and imbue the younger generation with historic views on peace, human rights and democracy, said CBS.

U.S. to Deploy More Fighter Bombers in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The U.S. air force announced that it would deploy 15 F-117 Stealth fighter bombers and 250 relevant technical personnel in south Korea late in May, according to the south Korean KBS and MBC. An officer concerned of the U.S. Forces Command in south Korea clarified on May 26 that the scheduled rotational deployment of the fighter bombers is part of the regular exercises aimed at getting familiar with the topographical conditions of the Korean Peninsula and operational plans, etc.
This will be the fifth time since 1993 for the U.S. to introduce the above-said type fighter bombers into south Korea under the pretext of staging exercises under the simulated conditions of an actual war on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. imperialist warhawks are desperately stepping up the moves to bolster up their forces under various signboards, timed to coincide with their scenario for a nuclear war of aggression against the DPRK pushed forward at a final phase. This is obviously a very danger signal predicting the outbreak of a war.

Projected Building of Naval Base on Jeju Island Opposed

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Hye Gyong, representative of the Democratic Workers' Party of south Korea, at a press conference held on May 26 voiced her opposition to the building of a naval base at Hwasun Port on Jeju Island, according to the south Korean CBS. In case a naval base is built there, the island can not but be reduced to a U.S. outpost for carrying out its new military strategy, she said.
This plan is quite contrary to the people's desire to make the island a tranquil one, she noted, demanding the total cancellation of the plan.

U.S. Reckless Plan for New Nuclear War Commanding System under Fire

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) --It was disclosed by a document of the U.S. forces on May 1 that Washington laid down a policy of allowing the commanders of the U.S. combined forces in different parts of the world including the Pacific forces to which the U.S. troops in Japan belong to request the president to permit the use of tactical nuclear weapons in case the U.S. and Japan and other allies are faced with the danger of WMD attacks by "rogue states" and terrorist organizations. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Sunday says in a signed article: The document called "doctrine of combined operations" was worked out by an order of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff at the outset of the year. This is a criminal plan to turn the whole world into shambles of a nuclear war and bring a fatal disaster to humankind.
There has been the nuclear war commanding system whereby the U.S. president alone can order the use of nukes. But this document calls for transferring this right to the commanders of U.S. regional combined forces, making it possible to turn all its wars of aggression into nuclear ones.
The recently disclosed "doctrine of combined operations" clearly reveals the bellicose, aggressive and vicious nature of the Bush forces.
In the doctrine, they limitlessly expanded the sphere of its use of nuclear weapons. This is a very dangerous military measure as it designates the whole world as targets of the U.S. nuclear strike. In a word, the doctrine allows the commanders of U.S. regional combined forces to use nuclear weapons against any country under any pretext irrespective of time, place and target.
The Bush bellicose forces regard the Korean Peninsula as the primary target of their nuclear strike in the 21st century. They listed the DPRK as part of "an axis of evil" and a target of its preemptive nuclear attack. They are busy with their moves to set up a regional combined command for a new Korean war, while shipping new type nuclear weapons into south Korea and its vicinity under the pretext of reorganization of U.S. troops. These days the U.S. warmongers are threatening the DPRK that they would launch a preemptive nuclear attack upon it without a warning. They have spent a huge amount of money to develop smaller nukes to be used in the new Korean war. They are contemplating using the nuclear war to be started by them on the Korean Peninsula as a prelude to converting all wars of aggression into nuclear ones. Herein lies the great danger of the U.S. moves to set up a new nuclear war commanding system.
Such U.S. moves will only lead to a global nuclear arms race and increase the danger of a thermonuclear war.
Should the U.S. persistently keep to the road of a nuclear war as now, it will never be able to escape self-destruction in the war.

Talks between DPRK and Lao Security Delegations

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Talks between the delegations of the DPRK Ministry of People's Security and the Lao Ministry of Public Security were held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Sunday. At the talks the two sides exchanged views on the issue of developing bilateral cooperation in the field of public security and a series of issues of mutual concern.
Present at the talks from the DPRK side were members of the delegation of the Ministry of People's Security headed by Minister Ju Sang Song and from the Lao side members of the delegation of the Ministry of Lao Public Security headed by Minister Thongbanh Seng A Phone.
The talks proceeded in a friendly atmosphere.

Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Sub-Unit

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 205 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. He acquainted himself with the sub-unit's performance of duty before watching its servicepersons' training.
He set forth tasks to be fulfilled to increase the sub-unit's combat capability, greatly satisfied with the fact that the sub-unit has improved the quality of training by contriving and introducing efficient training apparatuses.
Then he went round a military lecture room.
He praised the sub-unit for having trained all its commanding officers and men into stalwart fighters by building the lecture room in a unique manner and effectively operating it.
He highly appreciated the great successes made by the sub-unit through its persevering and energetic endeavors to thoroughly implement the WPK's policy of training, stressing that the primary revolutionary duty of the soldiers is to register successes in training.
He looked round the compound of the barracks, the educational room, bedroom, a mess hall, a wash-cum-bath house, a subsidiary food store, an outdoor resting place and other places.
He said this sub-unit has set an example not only in the combat and political training but in its management, greatly pleased with the fact that its commanding officers and men have spruced up the inside and outside of the barracks like a rest home and built well entertainment and logistic facilities through their concerted efforts.
It is very good that the sub-unit is giving the soldiers common knowledge about geography with the help of Korean and world maps in the educational room, he said, adding a serviceman can become a true soldier who can display patriotism and unhesitatingly lay down his life for the dear motherland only when he knows well about his native place and country.
Noting that the servicepersons' sincerity and enthusiasm are most important for successfully doing the sideline farming, he said he would look forward to the good news that the sub-unit has reaped a bumper harvest by bringing about a fresh turn in the sideline farming this year as it had pledged.
He met with soldiers and had a warm conversation with them.
Highly appreciating their patriotic deeds, he noted that all the servicepersons of the KPA are the heroes in the era of Songun as they have devoted themselves to the party, the revolution, the country and the people, regarding it an honor, happiness and pride to be called soldiers.
He gave servicepersons of the sub-unit a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them, expressing belief that they would creditably perform their mission and duty as standard-bearers and a shock force in upholding the WPK's Songun policy.

Immediate Release of Arrested Unionists Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- Ri Yong Sun, member of the south Korean National Assembly from the Democratic Workers' Party, held a press conference at the NA building on May 24 to demand the immediate release of the 700 odd members of the Ulsan Construction Workers' Union who had been arrested while staging a legal demonstration for the guarantee of their right to existence, according to the south Korean MBC. Noting that they demanded the most elementary right as human beings, not an unreasonable wage hike, the lawmaker held that the chief of the police office deserved to be punished for resorting to violence against the demonstrators.
The employers and the Ministry of Labor are primarily to blame for this crisis as they paid no heed to the demand of the workers, the speaker added.

Report on Remains of Korean Victims of Forcible Drafting Issued

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Measure Committee for Demanding Compensation to Comfort Women for the Japanese Army and the Victims of Forcible Drafting succeeded in finding out the bereaved families of those who were killed after being driven to shambles of the war of aggression as "servicemen" and "civilian employees" by the imperial Japanese army and probed the truth about some of their remains in the course of surveying the lists of remains of the Korean victims of forcible drafting at the Yutenji Temple in Tokyo in recent years. The committee issued a report on the results of the survey on May 27. Referring to the course and results of the survey, the report said: The committee received the lists of the remains from the fact-finding group of forcible drafting of Koreans in Japan at the outset of 2004 and made a survey on its basis keeping in touch with the relevant institutions. Its results said 430 persons among 1,135 on the lists are those from the northern half of Korea and 315 of those persons were taken away as "servicemen" and "civilian employees" of the ground force of the imperial Japanese army and 114 of them as "servicemen" and "civilian employees" of the naval force of the imperial Japanese army and they include one man whose identity remains unknown.
Most of them are believed to have died against their grudge while being subject to slavery for the army and doing forced labor after being driven to shambles of war of aggression as "servicemen" and "civilian employees " from all areas of Korea including North and South Hamgyong, North and South Phyongan, Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces by the Japanese imperialists in the past.
Pointing to the finding out of bereaved families of some of the victims including Kim Jong Phyo (Seihyo Kaneshiro) No. 731 registered in the Japanese name on the lists of remains and their testimonies, the report said: This tells what bitter mental pain the bereaved families have suffered for more than 60 years, without knowing the fate of their sons and daughters and relatives and terms the inhuman behavior of the Japanese authorities toward the issue of remains of the victims of forcible drafting of Koreans a criminal act of adding to Japan's crimes.
    The report went on:
The committee confirmed through the survey of the lists of remains that remains of not a few victims were found to be mixed with remains of other persons and the boxes of remains contained various kinds of garbage instead of bones. It also mentioned how badly the remains of the victims of forcible drafting of Koreans were preserved and handled at several temples in different parts of Japan.
Pointing to the disclosure of the surprising fact through the survey that the remains of victims of forcible drafting of Koreans of north Korean origin are buried at "Yasukuni Shrine", the report accused the Japanese government of committing a double or treble criminal act of infringing upon their rights and dignity by bringing their tablets to the shrine which honors class A war criminals including Hideki Tojo to symbolize Japanese militarism.
The report cited concrete facts to prove that the Japanese government has not clarified its view on the issue of the remains of Korean victims of forcible drafting and has taken no measure for the settlement of the issue although it is 60 years since Japan's defeat in the war.
According to the report, the Japanese government has conducted more than 300 campaigns to collect remains of soldiers and military employees of the imperial Japanese army since 1952 which resulted in retrieving remains of 1.24 million persons. This year it is contemplating spending 57.9 billion yen to fund the "undertaking concerning the 60th anniversary of the end of the war" under the pretext of paying state homage to the soldiers, military employees and associate military employees who served the imperial army and their bereaved families.
The fact-finding group of forcible drafting of Koreans recently clarified that 10.96,368 billion yen worth of deposit money (counted at the market price 120 times the value of currency in 1994) are kept at the Legal Affairs Bureau in Tokyo.
What should not be overlooked is that since Japan's defeat its government has failed to hand over to the DPRK even remains of one victim of north Korean origin although it did to south Korea remains of about 8,800 victims of south Korean origin including those preserved by the government.
Calling attention to the fact that this year marks the 60th anniversary of Japan's defeat, the report urged the Japanese government to thoroughly and comprehensively probe the truth behind the issue of the remains of Korean victims of forcible drafting, open the whole story to the public without delay, admit the state responsibility for it, make a formal apology and compensation to the victims and their bereaved families, find out remains of all victims and help bury them either at their native places or places where their relatives reside as desired by their bereaved families. It also underlined the need to ferret out all criminals who spawned the issue of remains and impose stern punishment upon them according to their accountability.

U.S. Hit for Applying Double-standards

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean Democratic Lawyers Association (KDLA) strongly held that heinous terrorist Posada Carriles and his gang should be severely punished by history for bringing great misfortune and mental pain upon the Korean people and peoples of different countries. The KDLA in a statement on May 27 denounced the United States for applying undisguised double standards to the issue of terrorism by actively patronizing notorious international terrorist Posada Carriles.
    The statement said:
Posada is a wicked terrorist who is wanted for perpetrating brutal terrorism in different parts of the world including the anti-U.S. and independent countries with the active U.S. backing for scores of decades.
Nevertheless, the U.S. had persistently denied the fact that the murderer smuggled into the U.S. in March last and asked for political asylum. And it arrested him recently under the strong denunciation and pressure of the world public.
This clearly shows again the double-faced nature of the U.S. which is clamoring for "eradication of terrorism" and "war on terrorism."
It is the U.S. policy of "anti-terrorism" to invoke international law for "anti-terrorism" if necessary and ignore it in case of handicap.
The U.S. describes those terrorists serving the "spread of American-style liberty and democracy" as "political exiles" or "dissidents" to provide them with refuges and protect them. But it labels those countries which go against the grain with it as "sponsors of terrorism." This impure action of the U.S. invites strong protest and indignation from the world over.
If the U.S. continues to resort to double-standards in the "war on terrorism", it will face greater curse and denunciation from the Korean people and the world public.

Swedish Public Figure Demands U.S. Stop Nuclear Threat on DPRK

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- Christer Lundgren, chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, on May 20 issued a statement to the press as regards some Swedish papers spreading a rumor as if the DPRK is violating an international law in connection with the nuclear issue. He in the statement stressed it is a prerequisite to a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula that the United States respects the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and stops nuclear threat on north Korea.
    He went on to say:
North Korea has already withdrawn from the NPT and its secession was made according to the rules of the treaty. Everybody should not forget the fact that the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula occurred because the U.S. has deployed a huge amount of nukes in and around south Korea and threatened north Korea for over half a century.
North Korea joined the NPT for two reasons -- the first is to remove the U.S. nuclear threat and the second is to sufficiently solve the problem of national electricity with nuclear power.
But the U.S. has worked hard to use the IAEA inspection as leverage of military espionage and pressure on north Korea and staged large-scale war maneuvers in the Korean Peninsula every year. This behavior compelled the DPRK to withdraw from the NPT to defend its supreme interests.
In the 1990s several rounds of bilateral talks were held between the DPRK and the U.S. and in October, 1994, the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework was adopted with a view to fundamentally settling the nuclear issue of the peninsula.
The United States, however, did not implement its duty.
It seems that the United States has no intention to implement the AF and expects that the political system of north Korea will collapse.
In January of 2002, Bush designated north Korea as well as Iraq and Iran as part of an "axis of evil" and then as a target of nuclear preemptive attack. In January, 2003, the DPRK withdrew from the NPT to defend the sovereignty of the country.

He set forth tasks to be fulfilled to increase the unit's combat capability in every way.
He dropped in at a combined lecture room to learn about how the politico-ideological work is conducted among the servicepersons.
He took deep care of the soldiers' living, looking round an educational room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a kitchen, a wash-cum bath house, a daily provision store, a barn and other entertainment and logistic facilities.
He met with Pak Song Chol, Pak Kwang Chol and other soldiers who have not only distinguished themselves in military training but fully displayed revolutionary comradeship.
He highly praised them for glorifying their military service with feats, aware that a soldier should display patriotism in his faithful service.
The People's Army has grown to be invincible ranks as all its servicepersons are united close as one comrade, he noted, adding the single-minded unity of the army based on the revolutionary comradeship is unbreakable.
Greatly pleased to receive the report that servicepersons of the unit are sincerely helping farmers in their work, he urged the army to take the lead in assisting agriculture, too.
He gave servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars, a machine gun and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.
