Kim Jong Il Praised

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Abdul Wahab Rashwani, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Syria (Bagdash), on June 14 made public a statement on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of his work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 5th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. Kim Jong Il is a great leader and a great revolutionary who enjoys unquestioned trust of the world socialists and revolutionaries as well as the Korean people for the immortal feats he has performed for the Korean and world revolution, he said and went on: Even though there are a great idea and an internal revolutionary force, the revolutionary struggle cannot evade turns and twists and failure if it is not led by the leader of the working class. It is attributable to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il that the Korean revolutionary is making a long drive.
    The June 15 joint declaration, a milestone on the way to Korea's reunification, is also a fruition of the great patriotic idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    The Communist Party and the people of Syria are convinced that Korea's reunification will surely be achieved according to the idea of "By our nation itself" specified in the joint declaration and stand foursquare behind it.

Functions Held Abroad

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- A celebration meeting and a film show were held in Egypt on June 13 to mark the 41st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of his work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 5th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. Siham Ahmad Mugahed, chairman of the Egypt-Korea Friendship Association, in his speech at the meeting highly praised Kim Jong Il for displaying the dignity of the country and the nation, smashing the imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK with his Songun policy.
    At the end of the meeting, the participants watched the Korean film "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il Gives On-Site Guidance to the Work of Various Fields." A round-table talk took place at the Al Nour Newspaper Office of Syria on the same day.
    The editor and other speakers said the DPRK led by the WPK was and is a beacon and bastion of socialism giving strength and courage to the world revolutionaries and progressives loving freedom and peace. The secret of it is that the Korean people are under the guidance of Kim Jong Il who has a great idea, tested and outstanding leadership ability and iron will, they stressed.
    A meeting was held in Ulan Bator on June 14 on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.
    N. Sarantuya, executive chairman of the Mongolian Mt. Paektu Association, addressing the meeting, said the DPRK has repulsed aggression and interference of foreign imperialists and turned into a country of independence, self-sustenance and self-defence as it has the Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung, the great leader. J. Tsevelma, vice-chairman of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society, noted that the historic north-south summit was arranged and the joint declaration was adopted thanks to the Songun idea of Kim Jong Il.
    Meanwhile, the Secretariat of the National Movement of Uganda and the Uganda-DPRK Friendship Association co-sponsored a meeting supporting the joint declaration in Kampala on June 13.

S. Korean Youth and Student Organizations Vow to Implement June 15 Joint Declaration

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Organizations of youth and students in south Korea reportedly made public statements on June 15 on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. The National Council of Women Students Representatives said in a statement that the last five years were a period during which the people had grasped the essence of the joint declaration and their hearts burned with the desire for reunification and patriotism.
    Referring to the U.S. vicious moves to play down and stamp out the joint declaration and block the movement for reunification, the statement said that the Koreans would implement the joint declaration by their concerted efforts.
    The General Student Council of Kyonggi University noted in a statement that the holding of the June 15 grand festival for national reunification in Pyongyang is a positive measure to frustrate the U.S. moves for war and defend the dignity and sovereignty of the compatriots, adding that the joint declaration serves as a motive power that made it possible for Koreans to have a grand assembly transcending the difference in ideology, political view and religion.
    Pointing out that if Koreans boost the national cooperation under the banner of the joint declaration they can surmount whatever obstacles, the statement stressed that only when the Koreans responsible for the movement for reunification dynamically advance hands in hands, can they bring earlier the day of the country's reunification.

Art Performances in DPRK

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Art performances were given in the DPRK on June 19 to celebrate the 41st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. They were appreciated by senior officials of the Party, the state and the army, chairpersons of the friendly parties, members of the Cabinet, officials of the Party and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and working people in Pyongyang.
    The audience included overseas Koreans staying in the socialist homeland. The Phibada Opera Troupe put on the stage the revolutionary opera "Sea of Love" at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre.
    The audience was deeply impressed by the opera which tells that the embrace of the motherly Party which takes care of and protects all the people with a thousand and one courses of career behind them and glorifies their life is that of Kim Jong Il and all the Koreans are members of his family.
    The Central Youth Art Squad presented a colorful program at the Central Youth Hall, which included the female vocal solo and chorus "Oh, Motherly Party", the national instrumental trio "Songun Nilliri" and the male duet and pangchang "Blue Sky over My Country."
    The art circle members of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace delighted the audience at the palace theater by showing the bright and gay features of the children growing into stout pillars of Songun Korea prepared mentally, morally and physically under the care of Kim Jong Il. Their program included the dance "Tambourine Dance on Holiday," the male vocal solo "May Our Pyongyang Shine" and the folk solo "Pride of Knowledgeable, Virtuous and Healthy Schoolchildren."

Just Cause of Korean People Supported

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- L. Chandramun, president of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Mauritius, on June 6 when he met Pak Kun Gwang, DPRK ambassador to Mauritius, stated that his party would invariably support the Korean people's cause of reunification and their just struggle to defend the sovereignty and peace of the country. Saying he could not forget the day when he was received by President Kim Il Sung while visiting the DPRK, he said he was greatly encouraged by the Korean people's struggle to defend socialism and build a great prosperous powerful nation.

Evening Galas Held in DPRK

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Evening galas of youth and students were held in different parts of the DPRK Sunday evening to celebrate the 41st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. These functions took place in different parts of Pyongyang including the plazas in front of the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Monument to Party Founding, the Arch of Triumph and the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium.
    Youth and students danced to the tune of such songs as "Let's Sing of Our Pride in Being under the Guidance of the General," "Our General Is Best," "Ever-Victorious Workers' Party of Korea," "Pride of Youth" and "Pyongyang Is Best."
    Evening galas of youth and students also took place in Sinuiju, Kanggye, Haeju and Sariwon and other provincial capitals, cities and county seats on the occasion of the significant day.

Acacia Seed Treatment Machine Made in DPRK

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Researchers of the forestry sector of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has developed an acacia seed treatment machine. The sprouting rate of acacia seeds, not treated, is only 20-30 percent because of their solid hulls.
    The seed treatment methods by hot water and reagent, which have been applied in nurseries, ensure only 70 percent of sprouting.
    After finding out the properties of acacia seed, the researchers have succeeded in making a seed treatment machine. It properly hurts seed hulls by the method of friction and bombardment. The budding rate of the acacia seeds treated by the machine is more than 90 percent. The machine saves several dozen kilograms of acacia seeds per hectare.
    It, which is simple in structure, is easy to operate anywhere. Its production cost is low. The machine has already been introduced in many units.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday dedicates an article to the 10th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is Essential for Accomplishing Socialism". The author of the article says:
    The work gives answers to all the theoretical and practical questions arising in the ideological work ranging from its significance and importance in accomplishing the socialist cause to its essence, main tasks, contents, principles and methods.
    The sagacity of the leadership of Kim Jong Il in fortifying the socialist ideological position into an invincible fortress lies in that he has constantly developed and consummated the socialist idea to suit the requirements of the era and the developing revolution.
    His ideology and theory are, indeed, profound and multi-faceted ones that give clear answers to all questions from the immediate policy issues to important ideological and theoretical issues of the new century and from the political, economic and military issues and the matter of cultural building to those arising in national reunification and the cause of global independence. It is a precious fruition of his extraordinary wisdom and distinguished ideological and theoretical activities that the Songun idea of Juche is successfully serving as the guideline of the Korean revolution and publicly recognized ideological current of the times.
    This sagacity also finds expression in the fact that he has stoutly trained the army and people of the country into those strong in idea and faith and decisively turned the ideological work into a work of the whole party, state and people.
    Now the work of modeling the whole society on one idea, the socialist idea, is progressing at a higher stage under the banner of Songun. The main characteristics of the ideological work of the Songun era lie in building up the People's Army into an army strong in idea and faith and, with it as the model, training the revolutionary ranks into elites.
    Under his wise leadership, the principle of firmly ensuring the party's leadership over the ideological work has been consistently maintained and media and literature and art have become a powerful ideological weapon in educating and mobilizing the masses in the DPRK. And the state is well playing the function of an ideological and cultural educator, all the working people's organizations and educational institutions regard ideological education as the most important work, and officials in all domains and at all units engage themselves in ideological and political work.

     Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Premier of the DPRK Cabinet Pak Pong Ju sent a congratulatory message to Edem Kodjo upon his appointment as prime minister of Togo. Expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would continue to develop favorably, the message sincerely wished him great success in his new job for national unity and economic development.

     Pyongyang, 20 de junio (ATCC) --- Se ofrecieron el dia 19 las funciones artisticas dedicadas al 41 aniversario del inicio del trabajo del Dirigente Kim Jong Il en el Comite Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea. Las vieron los cuadros del Partido, el Estado y el ejercito, presidentes de los partidos amigos, miembros del Consejo de Ministros, funcionarios de los organos del partido y el poder, organizaciones de masas, ministerios y organismos centrales, oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular de Corea y trabajadores capitalinos, asi como coreanos en ultramar que se encuentran de visita en la patria socialista.
    Los artistas del Conjunto Operistico "Mar de Sangre" ofrecieron la opera revolucionaria "Mar de amor" en el Gran Teatro de Pyongyang.
    La opera dio profunda impresion a los espectadores al subrayar que el regazo del partido madre, que atiende, protege y glorifica la vida de las personas de diferentes antecedentes, es el regazo del Dirigente, y este y el pueblo son de la misma familia. En la escena de la Casa Central de la Juventud los artistas del Grupo de Propaganda Artistica Central Juvenil pusieron diversas piezas, entre otras, el solo femenino y coro "Partido madre", el trio de musica instrumental nacional "Songun Nilriri" y el duo masculino y Bangchang "Cielo azul de mi pais".
    Los miembros del grupo artistico del Palacio de Ninos y Escolares de Mangyongdae ejecutaron la "Danza con tambores en la fiesta", el solo masculino "Que brille nuestra Pyongyang", el solo folclorico "Orgullos de ricos conocimientos, nobles virtudes y buena salud", etc. que reflejaban bien la vida alegre de los ninos que crecen como fidedignos encargados de Corea del Songun en el regazo del Dirigente Kim Jong Il.

Velada de jovenes y estudiantes por 19 de junio

     Pyongyang, 20 de junio (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar en horas nocturnas del dia 19 en distintas localidades del pais la velada de los jovenes y estudiantes como colofon de las actividades para festejar el 41 aniversario del inicio del trabajo del Dirigente Kim Jong Il en el Comite Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea (19 de junio de 1964). En esta capital las explanadas frente al Monumento a la Idea Juche, el Monumento a la Fundacion del Partido, el Arco Triunfal y el Palacio de Deportes de Pyongyang y otros lugares fueron escenarios de las festividades.
    Los participantes se dejaban mover al son de las canciones como "Cantemos el orgullo de disfrutar de la direccion del General", "Es mejor nuestro General", "Invencible Partido del Trabajo de Corea", "Orgullos de la juventud" y "Es mejor Pyongyang".
    Por otra parte, los lugares de velada de las provincias, ciudades y distritos, inclusive las ciudades de Sinuiju, Kanggye, Haeju y Sariwon, estaban colmados de los jovenes y estudiantes que traducian su gran placer por acoger este dia tan significativo en danzas divertidas.
