S. Korean Organizations on Ministerial Talks

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations of the reunification movement issued a statement and commentaries on June 21 regarding the 15th north-south ministerial talks, according to a press report. The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification in a statement titled "We expect signal progress in south-north relations" said that the declaration for national reunification adopted at the recent June 15 grand festival for national reunification reflects the whole Korean nation's ardent desire and will to foil the U.S. moves to provoke a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula by the efforts of the nation and lift the reunification movement to a new stage by uniting in the idea of "By our nation itself".
The common interests of the nation should be put above everything else at the forthcoming ministerial talks in response to these desire and will of the nation, the statement urged, and added: Only then can the talks be a negotiating table for achieving dramatic progress in the south-north relations as required by the June 15 joint declaration.
The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration and the Reunification Solidarity in their commentaries held that the south Korean government should, above all, strictly maintain the stand of national cooperation for a success of the talks opening in the wake of the significant June 15 grand festival for national reunification.
The U.S. is letting loose outbursts aimed at spoiling the atmosphere of the ministerial talks, trying to find fault with the festival which involved the whole nation, they said, adding: The Koreans should firmly grasp their hands clasped in face of the intensified moves of the United States to separate the Korean nation.

Repeal of NSL Demanded

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- University student organizations in south Korea reportedly issued statements denouncing crackdown upon the student movement by the security authorities, in which they branded the "National Security Law" as the biggest enemy in the era after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. Recalling that the security authorities walked away Han Hyo U, a student of Hanyang University who took the lead in the fight to achieve the independent reunification of the country in the June 15 era, the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) in its statement on June 22 lamented that the NSL, a leftover of the old times, is suppressing the forces of independent reunification, still remaining effective. The act of the security authorities, a pro-U.S. flunkeyist conservative force turning its back on the people's ardent desire for independent reunification, is intended to break at any cost the will to achieve the independent reunification by the Korean nation itself, it said.
The Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils under Hanchongryon in its statement on June 21 demanded the security authorities immediately release the patriotic student Han Hyo U and stop the suppression of the student movement.
It is against common sense for the security authorities to take away students on the strength of the NSL and it is an act of swimming against the flow of the times and the historical trend, the statement said, and warned: If the security authorities continue to resort to such act of violence at a time when the whole nation became convinced of the hopeful future of independent reunification through the June 15 grand festival for national reunification, they will face bitterer curse and denunciation of the people.

U.S. Can Never Evade Responsibility for Provoking Korean War

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists have desperately tried to shift the blame for the outbreak of the Korean war on June 25, 1950, onto the DPRK and justify its war crimes until today, more than half a century after they triggered off the war, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Friday. The U.S. describes the Korean war as "a sudden event" to create the impression that it "was taken unawares" by someone, the author of the article says, and goes on:
The U.S. imperialists are these days staging exercises of evacuating U.S. army families in south Korea coupled with war games against the north. This is the repetition of the family evacuation din kicked up just before the U.S. launched the Korean war. Such a thing can be seen only on the eve of a war.
Another proof that the Korean war was not "a sudden event" for the U.S. is found in the fact that it had worked out beforehand a draft resolution on the invasion of the south by the north to be submitted to the United Nations. The U.S. lodged a complaint against the "invasion of the south by the north Korean army" as it had planned and dragged troops of 15 satellite states beside the south Korean forces into the war of aggression against the DPRK.
The move of the U.S. forces in Japan on the eve of the war vividly unveils the true colors of those who provoked the Korean war. They busily ran about to leave nothing incomplete in the preparations for the Korean war.
Robert, head of the U.S. military advisory group, who was dismissed from his post and called back home in the first half of June, 1950, at a press conference in San Francisco confessed that the story of north Korea's preparations for a war was an utterly groundless rumor.
No matter what jugglery the U.S. may try to cover up its true colors as the provoker of the Korean war, reversing black and white, it will not get it anywhere.
If the U.S. imperialist warhawks start another war of aggression in this land, oblivious of the lesson of their bitter defeat in the last Korean war, they will perish in its flame never to come back to life.

Koreans Urged to Remain True to Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- The idea of "By our nation itself" is a patriotic one which the Koreans should take as guidelines for accomplishing the cause of reunification as it reflects the consciousness of national independence requiring all the members of the nation to decisively oppose and reject flunkeyism and dependence on foreign forces and maintain the firm national stand. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article. Pointing out that the idea of "By our nation itself" serves as a basis for achieving the great unity of the whole nation and realizing national cooperation, the article goes on: In order to win a decisive victory in the struggle of the Korean nation to protect peace, it is necessary to strengthen the driving force of the nation in every way. The master of the destiny of the nation is the nation itself and the nation is also capable of protecting its destiny. The might of the driving force of the nation lies in the unity of the whole nation. No force on earth can overpower the nation united to realize its common aspiration and will.
The idea of "By our nation itself" serves as a powerful spiritual weapon as it makes it possible for the Koreans to pool their will and efforts in the struggle against outsiders and aggression. The vitality of the idea lies in that it helps embrace and unite all the members of the nation who value and enshrine the soul of the nation and love the country and the nation, irrespective of ideology, social system, class and social strata. Only when all the fellow countrymen in the north, the south and overseas are firmly united as one, based on the noble idea of "By our nation itself", is it possible to significantly increase the might of national independence guaranteeing the victory in the struggle to protect peace and successfully carve out the destiny of the nation.
All the Koreans in the north, the south and overseas should pool the patriotic aspiration and will under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself" and thus decisively frustrate the criminal moves of foreign forces for aggression and war with the might of national cooperation and further glorify the era of reunification after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the era of national independence.
