U.S. Urged to Sign Peace Agreement
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the Movement for Withdrawal of the U.S. Forces in south Korea reportedly released a commentary headlined "U.S., Show Zeal in Signing Peace Agreement" on June 25.
Noting that a state of truce, not a complete end of the Korean war, has been maintained since the signing of the armistice agreement on July 27, 1953, the commentary says; This is because the United States has refused to sign a peace agreement with the north.
It continues:
The reason why the U.S. opts to maintain the armistice agreement is that it wants to permanently dominate this land and that, if a peace agreement is signed, there will be no more justification to keep its troops in south Korea and one of its large arms markets will be gone like puff of smoke.
If the state of truce is kept as it is, the Korean people in the south and the north will have to live under the threat of war which no one knows when the U.S. would start and a multitude of youngsters of this land will be forced to aim their guns at the fellow countrymen in the north.
The U.S. should no longer threaten the lives of the Koreans with the phraseology of "security" but immediately respond to the conclusion of a peace agreement as demanded by the north for a full peace on the Korean Peninsula.
S. Korean Security Authorities Urged Not to Suppress Anti-U.S. Struggle
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) reportedly made public a statement titled "Security authorities should immediately release Student Ryu Hyong Chol and not suppress just demand for U.S. troop pullout" on June 30.
The statement said:
The Security Investigation Team violently walked off Ryu Hyong Chol, vice-chairman of the General Student Council of Chonnam National University, on the charge of anti-U.S. patriotic activity. This was a ruse to crack down on the activities of Hanchongryon and a plot to throw a wet blanket over the flame of the struggle to force the U.S. troops to pull out.
The security authorities must not suppress the students' just struggle, serving the U.S. as its tool, but promptly release the arrested students including Ryu Hyong Chol.
Our struggle in the era of independent reunification will win and no suppression can stem the torrential flow of history, the statement said, and added: Hanchongryon will wage the struggle for peace against war and for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops with the participation of all the people, aflame with anger at the United States and the pro-U.S. ultra right forces.
S. Korean Youth and Students Urged to Take Lead in Reunification Movement
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification made public a statement on June 30 calling upon the youth and students to take the van in the movement for achieving reunification "By our nation itself," according to a news report.
The statement recalled that the youth and students had fully displayed their pluck and will in the movement for the country's reunification in the strong spirit of national independence that no wall could block the nation's desire for reunification.
The youth and students in the June 15 era are now carrying forward the proud history of the patriotic movement for reunification of the country, the statement said, and went on:
We, together with the young folks in the north, should take the lead in the struggle for the country's reunification to play the leading part in the era of "By our nation itself."
We youth and students will glorify the June 15 era of national independence and reunification, upholding the slogan "Let us live by our nation without the U.S. forces."
Another Massacre of Civilians Exposed
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- It was disclosed recently that the United States killed, wounded or left missing at least 130 residents of Sansong-ri, Ryechon County, North Kyongsang Province, on January 19, 1951, during the Korean war by committing a deliberate indiscriminate bombing with bombs of formidable destructive power.
Rodong Sinmun Monday in a commentary says that the massacre brought to light this time vividly proved once again that the U.S. imperialists are a pack of beasts in human skin and the inveterate enemy with whom the Korean nation cannot live under the same sky.
The analyst continues:
It was made clear by the testimony of U.S. soldiers who took part in the war and a secret document found in U.S. archives that it was an organized and premeditated massacre of civilians and a wanton violation of international laws and publicly recognized war regulations just as the Rogun-ri incident.
The U.S. should have held itself accountable politically, morally and legally for all misfortunes, pains and disasters it imposed upon the Korean nation during the Korean war, including those massacres. Nevertheless, it still refuses even to admit the worst crimes in history, far from making an apology and compensation for them.
The south Korean people should raise a fiercer flame of the struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. imperialist aggressor troops from south Korea to totally settle score not only for the Sansong-ri massacre but for all other inhumane crimes perpetrated by the United States over the past 60 years and make it pay for them a thousand fold and remove the source of all misfortunes, pains and disasters in this land.
Japan's Dangerous Militarist Moves to Veer to Right Assailed
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The ultra right conservative forces of Japan are these days escalating their moves to push it to the Right in the socio-political aspect, obsessed by the militarist view that they support the prime minister's visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine" and it is "interference in internal affairs" for other countries to say this and that about the visit.
Rodong Sinmun Monday in a commentary warns that if the Japanese reactionaries continue to go ahead as now, it will spark acute political and military confrontation between Japan and other Asian countries.
The commentary goes on: Japanese politicians' visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine" is not a matter confined to Japan only. But it is a very sensitive political issue of global nature as it is related to Japan's approach towards its past war of aggression and the issue of the damage done to the Asians and hints at the way to be followed by it in the days ahead.
By placing visits to the shrine on a regular political basis the ultra right conservative forces of Japan seek to infuse strong militarist idea into the Japanese to keep them ready to go out for a war of aggression any time.
That is why the Japanese reactionaries are bringing into bolder relief their true colors as cobra-like militarists and arrogantly insisting that they are taking the road chosen by them, lending a deaf ear to the Asian countries' opposition to the visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine."
Accusing Japan of stepping up in real earnest the arms buildup including nuclear weaponization and the introduction of the missile defense system and the advance of the "Self-Defence Forces" overseas under the pretext of "security," the commentary warns this would only precipitate its isolation and ruin.
Invariable Idea of WPK's Foreign Policy Reclarified
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea in their joint slogans published on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the WPK foundation reiterated that the independence, peace and friendship are the invariable idea of the WPK's foreign policy and called for boosting the friendly and cooperative relations with all the countries that respect the sovereignty of the DPRK and building an independent, peaceful and friendly new world.
Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed article carried in this regard says that this serves as a banner giving impetus to the efforts of the WPK and the DPRK government to develop their external relations and realize the noble idea of independence, peace and friendship, common to humankind.
The WPK has firmly maintained independence in its external relations, the article notes, and goes on:
It does not tolerate any attempt to infringe upon the sovereignty of the DPRK and interfere in its internal affairs in a bid to dominate and control it. It is strongly opposed to the act of violating the sovereignty of other countries and assesses and handles all the problems arising in the international community with independence as a yardstick, while standing firm against practices hurting independence.
No one is allowed to say this or that to the DPRK advancing under the uplifted banner of independence or impose unreasonable demands upon it. The DPRK loves peace very much and does not want war but will exercise its sovereignty and strongly counter any forces' invasion for conquering it with its tremendous military muscle.
The WPK has made positive efforts to curb and frustrate the imperialists' offensive to put pressure upon the DPRK, achieve peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and defend peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world in firm unity with all the peace-loving forces of the world.
The WPK will boost good-neighborly and friendly relations with all the countries on the principle of independence and on the basis of international justice and will strive to improve and normalize the relations even with those countries which had been hostile towards the DPRK in the past if they respect its sovereignty and abandon their hostile policy towards it, the article concludes.
Anniversary of Three Principles of National Reunification Observed
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The publication of the three principles of national reunification through the July 4 joint statement was a brilliant fruition of the far-sighted wisdom and ardent patriotic will of President Kim Il Sung and his leadership over the struggle for national reunification. It marked a great event which provided basic principles and ways for accomplishing the cause of reunification to the compatriots and brought about a new turn in the movement for national reunification.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the historic July 4 joint statement. It goes on:
The three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity are the programme for national reunification which laid down the fundamental cornerstone for solving the problem of national reunification by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.
The principle of independence is the fundamental one to be maintained in the movement for national reunification.
Only when the principle of independence is observed in the efforts to accomplish the cause of national reunification is it possible to settle the issue of reunification by the concerted efforts of the Koreans in line with their demand for independence and fundamental interests.
The struggle for national reunification would be unthinkable without national independence as it is aimed at solving the issue of the nation. Outsiders will never make a present of reunification to the Korean nation because they seek their own interests. This is the reason why the principle of independence becomes a cornerstone for solving the problem of the nation and a fundamental principle to govern the struggle for reunification.
The principle of peaceful reunification clarified the basic ways for solving the issue of reunification as unanimously desired by all the compatriots.
The north and the south recognized the common points in the north side's proposal of low-level federacy and the south side's commonwealth proposal in the June 15 joint declaration and agreed to work for reunification in this direction. This constitutes a step forward in the efforts to accomplish the cause of reunification by applying the principle of peaceful reunification.
The principle of great national unity is guidelines for action as it calls on all the Koreans to unite as one under the banner of national reunification.
All the Koreans are now pushing forward the process of reconciliation and reunification, united as one in the spirit of "By our nation itself".
The three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity serve indeed as a great programme for reunification common to the nation in line with the will and desire of the nation for reunification and the country's reality and an immortal banner for accomplishing the cause of national reunification, the article stresses.
Remarks of Japanese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Accused
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- Japanese Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Yabunaka said a few days ago that Japan can never allow the nuclear development of north Korea and that Japan intends to make public a sure statement for early resumption of the six-party talks. He also babbled that G-8 would sympathize with the position of Japan.
A political aim Japan pursues on the occasion of the summit of G-8 is to meddle in the settlement of the nuclear issue of world concern to implant in the international community the cognition that Japan does its share and speak for the U.S. stand to create favorable conditions for its bid for permanent membership of the UN Security Council, observes Minju Joson Monday in a signed commentary.
It goes on:
This cannot but be a revelation of inveterate habit peculiar to Japan. No country can match Japan in finding other's fault to draw water to its mill.
The nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula is not a matter for such an insincere and clumsy political dwarf as Japan to deal with. So it is desirable that Japan may step aside to see the settlement of the issue.
Japan will certainly pay a high price for interfering in the process of resolving the nuclear issue by the relay method of what the U.S. says.
The reckless behavior of Japan will result in taking its participation into consideration even in case the six-party talks resume.
Japan should bear in mind that it needs for Japan to stop the foolish act.

The members of the national Party information workers' shock brigade have built the June 18 and Sobaeksu Power Stations defying the unfavourable geological conditions of the area to create more generating capacity. They have also reconstructed or repaired several power stations including Samjiyon Power Station No. 1 and Phothae Power Station No. 4.
