Korean People's Struggle for Reunification Supported
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The Egyptian Association of Afro-Asian Judges for Human Rights issued a statement on July 6 on the occasion of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people.
The statement said that more than half a century has elapsed since the outbreak of the Korean war and such a war should not be allowed to repeat itself on the Korean Peninsula.
Holding that Korea should be reunified in the near future on the three principles--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity-- as desired by all the Korean people, the statement noted that the association would always support the Korean people in their just cause of national reunification and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Functions Held Abroad to Commemorate Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's Demise
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- Remembrance meetings were held by the Society for the Promotion of the Relations between Austria and the DPRK and the Barisal branch of the Bangladeshi Solidarity Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification on July 1 to commemorate the 11th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's death.
The secretary general of the society said at the meeting that Kim Il Sung was the eternal sun of the Korean people as he dedicated himself to the people's freedom and happiness all his life, expressing belief that the Korean people would achieve greater success in their efforts to carry out the President's behests under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, creditable successor to his cause.
Members of the society decided to widely introduce the President's exploits performed for the Korean revolution and the world revolution through media.
The chairman of the Barisal branch of the Bangladeshi Solidarity Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification recalled, addressing the meeting held by the branch, that the President founded the immortal Juche idea, the guiding idea in the era of independence. This was an event of historic significance in human history as it indicates the most correct way of achieving freedom, liberation and independent development for the world people, he noted.
Meanwhile, Korean documentary film "He Always Lives in the Hearts of Humankind" was shown at companies of Thailand.
Anti-U.S. Demonstration in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- A demonstration was staged by at least 10,000 members of various social organizations, citizens and students in Phyongthaek, Kyonggi Province, on July 10 in protest against the expansion of the U.S. military base and the U.S. moves for another Korean war, according to the south Korean MBC.
Prior to the start of the demonstration, its participants declared that to check the expansion of the U.S. military base means protecting the vital rights of the Phyongthaek citizens and checking the U.S. forces' moves for another Korean war and vowed to escalate their action into all parts of south Korea.
When they marched towards the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, the riot police stood in their way. But they went ahead, chanting "No expansion of U.S. military base" and other slogans.
At least 250 demonstrators were seriously wounded in the clash with the riot police.
They fired even water-cannons at the demonstrators and walked off some of them.
Remarks of Commander of U.S. Forces in S. Korea Denounced
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- Laporte, commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea, in a recent interview with a south Korean broadcasting service, made extremely provocative and bellicose remarks that the U.S. is capable of deterring and defeating the DPRK, while saying this or that about the latter's access to nuclear weapons.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says in a signed commentary:
His remarks can be interpreted as ones representing the stand of the hard-line conservative forces of the U.S. They clearly indicate what kind of dialogue the U.S. wants and what it seeks through it.
It is the strong aspiration and will of all Koreans to rejoin the severed ties of the nation and reunify the country as early as possible through reconciliation, unity and national cooperation, not through confrontation and war. The U.S. bellicose forces are, however, pursuing a war, deliberately straining the situation in the peninsula quite contrary to the Koreans' enthusiasm and desire for reunification. They are contemplating staging a mock exercise in the middle of this month, a drill aimed at mounting an attack upon the DPRK under the pretext of coping with a "crisis". This is also part of their adventurous moves to ignite a war by deliberately escalating the tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The above-said outcries made by U.S. bellicose forces are nothing but an undisguised threat to the dialogue partner and, at the same time, an attempt to torpedo the dialogue.
Such behavior throwing a wet blanket over the atmosphere of the dialogue would not do the U.S. good either as it is an act of blocking the settlement of the nuclear issue and driving the hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. to a war. The U.S. escalating threat and blackmail against the DPRK and increasing danger of war on the Korean Peninsula would only compel the DPRK to further bolster its defence capability for self-defence.
Minju Joson in a commentary observes: The U.S bellicose forces, overheated with war fever, are sadly mistaken. If they seek to stifle the DPRK by force of arms as now, chilling the atmosphere of dialogue, this will only render the settlement of the nuclear issue harder.
Rodong Sinmun on "By Our Nation Itself"
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- "By our nation itself" is the main spirit of the June 15 era of reunification whereby the 70 million Koreans are to valiantly meet all challenges of history and win victory in the cause of reunification, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article Tuesday.
Fully represented in the idea of "By our nation itself" are the firm readiness and will of the Koreans to put an end to the disgraceful history of national division and independently pave the way to the future of the country, the article notes, and goes on:
Also reflected in the idea are the immutable truth that the way out for the Korean nation lies in its independence and great unity and the faith and will of the 70 million Koreans to give full play to the dignity and honor of the country by their own efforts. The hearts filled with this idea can fully display the strong spirit of independence of the Korean nation and ardent patriotism in which no other nation can be a match, the indomitable fighting spirit and pluck bolstered with the faith that there is nothing impossible if the nation pools strength and optimism about the reunified country where the dignity of the nation will be exalted and the happiness of the younger generation will bloom. Bright is the prospect of the Korean nation in the 21st century as this idea makes all the fellow countrymen harden their will of independence and turn out as one in the sacred patriotic fight against the U.S. and for reunification.
The idea is the driving force which guides all the fellow countrymen to dynamically hasten the march toward independent reunification with the conviction of certain victory and indomitable fighting spirit.
And it makes all the members of the nation cherish pride in its superiority and pluck and rock-firm faith that there is nothing impossible if the nation pools strength.
This idea will bring a bright future to the Korean nation in the era of independent reunification which is making a long drive.
Reception Given to Mark Anniversary of DPRK-China Treaty
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Central Committee of the Korea-China Friendship Association co-hosted a reception at the Chongryu Restaurant Monday evening on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.
Kim Su Hak, minister of Public Health who is chairman of the central committee of the association, said in his speech that President Kim Il Sung and Premier Zhou Enlai inked the historic treaty 44 years ago, laying a foundation for comprehensively developing the bilateral ties in the political, economic, cultural and other fields.
The traditional friendly relations between the DPRK and China have developed at a new higher stage in the spirit of the agreement reached between the two top leaders in April 2004, he noted, adding that it is the invariable stand of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government to consolidate the bilateral ties of friendship generation after generation.
Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, in his speech said that the two countries have respected and supported each other, maintained the good neighborliness and closely cooperated with each other in the spirit of the treaty, thereby making a positive contribution to the peaceful development of the two countries and the regional peace and stability.

Japanese Chief Executive's Remarks Accused
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The Japanese chief executive at the G-8 Summit brought forward again the "abduction issue" and the "nuclear and missile issue" of the DPRK and blared that Japan "will not normalize relations with north Korea" unless they are settled.
Commenting on this, a Minju Joson analyst Tuesday says:
Hidden behind this were the shrewd calculation and heinous intention of Japan. It is the sinister scheme of the Japanese reactionaries buoyed with expansion fever to stage a comeback to Korea and embark upon overseas aggression by joining the United States in its malicious moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK on the plea of the afore-said issues.
Japan's refusal to normalize relations with the DPRK under the pretext of such matters as the "abduction issue" which has already been solved is intended to evade its obligation to settle its past crimes against the Korean people and set about gratifying its ambition of overseas expansion.
Japan can never freely evade the settlement of its crime-woven past. The Korean people will certainly force Japan to make an apology and compensation for its past full of crimes, whether it wants this, or not.

Periodicos censuran a Laporte
