Functions Held to Celebrate Day of Victory in War

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Multifarious functions were held in the DPRK on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. Evening galas of youths and students took place on the squares in front of the Tower of Juche Idea, the Monument to Party Founding, the Arch of Triumph, the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War and other places in Pyongyang and in Phyongsong, Kanggye, Sariwon and Wonsan and other local cities of the country on July 27.
    The participants danced to the tune of such songs as "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung," "Our General Is Best," "Thunder on Jong Il Peak," " July 27, Day of Our Victory " "Song of Coastal Artilleryman," "Let's Meet on Front" and "Nilliri for Songun," representing their greatest national pride of being blessed with leaders generation after generation.
    The evening galas powerfully demonstrated the revolutionary faith and will of the Korean youths and students to display the invincible spirit of heroic Korea once again in the present stand-off with the U.S. under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il just as they emerged victorious in the confrontation with the U.S. in the 1950s and thus glorify the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and Korea's liberation as the grand festivals of victors. Youths and students of factories, enterprises and schools in various parts of the country including Pyongyang, South Hamgyong Province and North Phyongan Province separately held meetings with heroes of the Republic.
    Heroes of the Republic and war veterans at the meetings said in an excited tone that the ever-victorious history of the homeland of Juche has been given steady continuity as Kim Jong Il is steering the Songun revolution.
    Youths and students in their speeches and through their poem recitals expressed their firm will to eternally glorify the undying feats Kim Il Sung performed for the victory in the war and devote their youth to the national defence and the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.      Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The State Merited Chorus of the Korean People's Army and the State Theatrical Company separately gave performances at the People's Palace of Culture and the State Theatrical Theatre on July 27 to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. The performances were appreciated by senior officials of the Workers' Party of Korea, the state and the army, chairpersons of friendly parties, members of the Cabinet, leading officials of the Party, military and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, KPA servicepersons, officials in the field of science, education, culture and art, public health and media, heroes and war veterans, those who rendered distinguished services during the war and working people in Pyongyang.
    The State Merited Chorus put on the stage such chorus numbers as "Cantata to Marshal Kim Il Sung," "July 27,Our Day of Victory," "Song of National Defence," "To the Road of Decisive Battle," famous song "Dear General, Where Are You," "Song of Airman," "The Country I am Defending," "My Warship Is Part of Beloved Country," "Soldiers Have Answered," "Parade of Victory" and "We Will Defend the Headquarters of Revolution with Our Lives."
    The performers sang of the indomitable stamina of the army and the people of the DPRK who honorably defended the dignity of the country and the national sovereignty in the just war to drive out the imperialist aggressor forces and powerfully displayed the spirit of heroic Korea.
    The State Theatrical Company staged the newly represented revolutionary drama "Under the Banner of Victory."
    The drama depicted in a wide-ranging and in-depth manner the undying feats President Kim Il Sung performed by checking and frustrating the U.S. adventurous "new offensive" and bringing about a turning phase for the victory in the war with his outstanding strategy and tactics, Juche-oriented war methods and extraordinary commanding art.
    The performances were acclaimed by audience for their high ideological and artistic value.

Japan's Militarist Ambition under Fire

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Japanese right-wing conservatives' move to stipulate the "possession of self-defense forces" in the constitution is aimed to codify the possession of the combat forces and realize their wild ambition to emerge a military giant and realize overseas expansion come what may. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a by-lined commentary. It continues: Once Japan's possession of a regular army is legalized, it will again harass the peace and stability of Asia and the rest of the world as it did in the past.
    Japan claimed that it should possess self-defensive forces under the pretext of what it called self-defense, international peace and stability. This is, however, nothing but a deception and mockery of the public.
    The Japanese reactionary forces defy any law in their desperate bid to emerge a military giant and realize territorial expansion.
    Some days ago the Japanese military boss asserted that the interceptor missiles jointly developed by the U.S. and Japan can be delivered to a third country. This is a gross violation of Japan's "three principles of arms export." It is as clear as noonday what consequences will be entailed by the delivery of such missiles to other countries.
    What matters is why are the Japanese reactionary forces seeking to export weapons to other country?
    This is designed to provide leverage and a springboard for its military expansion overseas.
    All the actions being conducted by Japan under the signboard of "international peace and stability" are aimed at emerging a military giant and realizing its wild ambition for overseas expansion. Through the retrogressive revision of the "Pacifist Constitution" the Japanese reactionary forces seek to legalize and institutionalize their moves for emerging a military giant and realizing overseas expansion.
    If Japan goes on reckless, seized by the wild ambition for military expansion overseas, failing to face up to the changed world and reality, it will have to pay a dear price for it.

Rodong Sinmun on U.S. Soldiers' Massacre of S. Korean Civilians

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean people will never forget the massacre committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressors in Rogun-ri 55 years ago as it was an organized and premeditated massacre of civilians and a crime against humanity, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed commentary. It goes on:
    The U.S. has not yet admitted this monstrous crime, far from making any apology and compensation for it. It merely staged a farce of erecting a "monument to the dead." This is little short of inflicting double or treble death upon the dead and an intolerable mockery of the Korean nation.
    During the last Korean War the U.S. imperialist barbarians killed more than 1.24 million peaceful inhabitants in different parts of south Korea including Rogun-ri, Kochang, Uiryong, Hamyang, Tanyang, Mungyong and River Rakdong area. As if it were not enough with this, they committed ceaseless brutal killings of south Korean civilians even after the war. The cries made by the martyrs in Kwangju with towering grudge against the U.S. and the screams made by the two schoolgirls when they were breathing their last under the caterpillars of the U.S. forces armored car in broad daylight are still ringing in the ears of the Koreans, adding to their pain.
    The criminals should be forced to pay for the blood shed by the south Koreans. The Korean nation can never pardon the U.S. imperialist aggressors who have imposed immeasurable calamities and sufferings upon the Korean people, keeping south Korea under their occupation for 60 years. A severe punishment of them alone would give vent to the bitter grudge of those killed by the American ogres in cold blood and meet the unanimous demand of the nation.

U.S.-Japan Conspiracy Condemned

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- It is one hundred years since the conclusion of the "Taft-Katsura Agreement", a product of the U.S.-Japan criminal conspiracy aimed to invade and dominate Korea. In this regard, the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland (DFRF) released a statement on Wednesday to denounce the indelible crimes the U.S. and Japanese imperialists committed by ruthlessly trampling down upon the dignity and sovereignty of the Korean people.
    The "Taft-Katsura Agreement" was a product of the bargaining of the U.S. and Japan in which they flouted and decided on the inalienable territory of Korea and the destiny of its nation as they pleased. It was the most piratical "agreement" in the imperialist history of aggression, the statement said, adding: This aggressive conspiracy was a collusion made between the two forces of evil as it was the combination of the highhanded and crafty nature of the U.S. imperialists and the wicked and cunning nature of Samurais of Japan.
    The statement cited concrete facts to disclose that the fabrication of such illegal "agreement" set the stage for the zealous collusion and tie-up between the U.S. and Japanese imperialists in invading the Korean Peninsula and caused the Korean nation with a 5,000-year long history and brilliant culture to undergo all sorts of ordeals and untold miseries and sufferings for so many years.
    It is unprecedented in history that the two imperialisms colluded with each other in invading other country for many years as they did against Korea, it noted, and went on: The situation prevailing in the Korean Peninsula reminds one of the situation a century ago when the "agreement" was cooked up.
    One hundred years ago, the U.S. and Japan colluded with each other in their bid for colonial domination over the territory of Korea. Today dirty collusion is being made to step up the U.S. campaign against the DPRK over its nuclear issue and Washington's moves for a war against it and help Japan realize its ambition for reinvasion.
    The United States supports Japan's moves for reinvasion and militarization in an effort to use the latter as a shock brigade in its war actions for world supremacy and anti-DPRK nuclear campaign. Meanwhile, Japan is backing the U.S. in its hostile policy toward the DPRK and its moves for a war of aggression to realize its old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" with the help of the latter.
    It is with the U.S. support that Japan is so hell-bent on the campaign to grab Tok Islet and distort history despite the strong protests at home and abroad.
    Japan is helping the U.S. more zealously than any other countries in its moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
    The U.S. imperialists' anti-DPRK moves have gone beyond the danger line and the Japanese reactionaries accustomed to fishing in troubled waters always with the help of a big power are recklessly taking the lead in the U.S.-led moves to lay a siege to the DPRK and unleash a dangerous nuclear war against it.
    The Korean nation is now waging a struggle against the U.S. and Japanese moves for aggression.
    The U.S. and Japanese imperialists are grossly mistaken if they calculate that they can infringe upon the destiny of the Korean nation as they please by inventing the second and third "Taft-Katsura agreements".
    In 1905 Japan forced a disgraceful "treaty" upon Korea, bringing it to ruin. But, in 2005, the DPRK is demonstrating its honor as a country which, possessed of nuclear deterrent, is protecting its dignity on its own.
    The U.S. and Japan would be well advised to stop their rash acts, properly understanding the strength and stamina of the Korean nation.
    The Korean nation's resentment toward the U.S. and Japan has been pent up in the course of the just struggles against their aggression and domination for the last one century.
    The Korean nation is sure to win in this struggle. This alone would lead to pulling down the barrier of division and putting an end to the history of national sufferings and bring about a reunified great prosperous powerful nation and prosperity common to the nation.
    All the Koreans should courageously turn out in the sacred struggle to terminate the disgraceful history in which the gangster-like "Taft-Katsura Agreement" was cooked up a century back and smash the U.S. imperialists' war moves and Japan's design for reinvasion.
    The progressive people of the world should actively struggle to check the high-handed practices of the U.S., an empire of evils, and the militarist design of Japan fawning on the U.S.
    The DFRF Central Committee takes this opportunity to call upon the progressive governments, political parties and public organizations and peoples of the world who value justice, truth, peace and social progress to voice stronger support and solidarity with the Korean people in the just struggle to terminate the 100-year history of colonial rule by the U.S. and Japan.

Anniv. of Kim Jong Il's Work Marked

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- It is nine years since the publication of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "The Juche Philosophy Is an Original Revolutionary Philosophy." The work published on July 26, Juche 85(1996) scientifically analyzed the limitation of the time when the precedent philosophies were set out and the originality of the Juche philosophy. It also clarified the idea that the Juche philosophy serves as a revolutionary and political philosophy of the Workers' Party of Korea and principled issues in studying and explaining the Juche philosophy.
    Rodong Sinmun today in an article dedicated to this day says that the work constitutes the most vivid expression of Kim Jong Il's unbounded fidelity to the Juche idea fathered by President Kim Il Sung and, at the same time, the fruition of the outstanding ideological and theoretical activities of Kim Jong Il characterized by originality, the need of the times and scientific accuracy.
    It goes on:
    The work clearly explained the originality of the Juche philosophy and increased the historical position and the attraction of the Juche idea.
    Kim Jong Il in his work clearly proved that the Juche philosophy set out by the President is a unique philosophy evolved and systematized with its own principles.
    The Juche philosophy was the first in history to make a scientific and perfect clarification of the essential character of man and, on this basis, establish the most correct world outlook, socio-historical view and revolutionary outlook centering on man, thus overcoming the limitation and immaturity of the preceding philosophies and bringing about a fundamental change in the development of the human philosophical thought.
    It was the work that once again clearly elucidated the historical position of the Juche philosophy as a new revolutionary philosophy which means the highest stage in the development of the human philosophical thought and represents the era of Juche, the historic era quite different from that to which the preceding theories belonged.
    This work also demonstrated the might of the Juche philosophy as a weapon for revolutionary practice.
    Kim Jong Il lucidly explained in the work that the Juche philosophy is a popular and revolutionary philosophy which was formulated and developed in depth reflecting the demand and will of the popular masses and generalizing the experience gained in their struggle and which has turned into a weapon in the struggle of the popular masses and a political philosophy clarifying the principled basis of politics leading the social development along the straight path.
    The work clarified the fundamental guidelines that should be firmly held fast to in the study and explanation of the Juche philosophy, in particular. This is of great historic significance in glorifying the Juche philosophy as a weapon for revolutionary practice.

Replacement of Armistice Agreement by Peace Agreement Demanded

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Steering Committee of the Seoul District Federation of Students reportedly released a statement titled "Replace armistice agreement by peace agreement" on July 23. The statement said that though 52 years have passed since the conclusion of the armistice agreement the danger of war is still lingering on the Korean Peninsula, keeping the Korean nation uneasy.
    It denounced the U.S. for persistently letting loose a spate of bellicose remarks and getting more undisguised in its exercises for a war of aggression with various types of sophisticated lethal weapons involved, straining the situation on the Korean Peninsula. It is necessary to replace the armistice agreement by a peace agreement in order to remove the threat of war by foreign forces and achieve durable peace on this land, the statement said.

1st Meeting of Panel for North-South Cooperation in Fisheries Opened

     Kaesong, July 27 (KCNA) -- The 1st meeting of the panel for north-south cooperation in fisheries took place in Kaesong from July 25 to 27 in accordance with the agreement of the 10th meeting of the North-South Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation. At the meeting both sides discussed proposals for cooperation in fisheries to ensure peace and the common interests of fishermen of the north and the south in the West Sea according to the basic spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and adopted an agreement of the 1st meeting of the panel for north-south cooperation in fisheries.
    Clarified in the agreement are articles concerning cooperation in fisheries between the north and the south -- both sides shall set a certain water area of the West Sea to carry on joint fishing on the principle of ensuring peace and common interests, the water area of joint fishing and date of joint fishing shall be set according to an agreement at the north-south military authority talks, both sides shall agree and decide on the period of fishing, the number of fishing boats, the use of fishing tackle and charges for fishing in piscary, both sides shall cooperate with each other in controlling the incoming of illegal fishing boats, not those of both sides, to prevent their fishing, concrete issues of cooperation in processing marine products and circulation shall be discussed at a working-level contact for cooperation in fisheries between the north and the south, and both sides shall jointly promote the development of good breeds to increase marine products and conduct technical exchange to this end and cooperate with each other in advancing into fishing grounds of a third country.
    Both sides agreed to consult and set the date and place of their working-level contact for cooperation in fisheries in the way of documentary exchange.

New Fish Feed Developed in DPRK

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The Branch Academy of Fishery Science under the Academy of Sciences of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has succeeded in making a new kind of feed for fresh water fish by cellulose zymotechnics. The feed is produced by the method of cultivating cellulose-decomposing bacteria and converting them into microorganism mycoprotein in a microbiological engineering way. Cellulose-decomposing bacteria generate cellulose, starch and protease at the same time. Feed for rainbow trout should be mixed with 30-40 percent of the bacteria and that for warm water fish with 50-60 percent. The mixed feed promotes absorption of nutriments and growth of fish.
    It contains 20.6 percent of crude protein, 6-8 percent of protein, 51.1 percent of carbohydrate, 1.2-2.2 percent of crude fat, 15.2 percent of crude fiber and 0.8-0.9 percent of ash.
    It is also available to domestic animals including ostrich, duck and pig.
    The branch academy has built fish feed factories depending on cellulose zymotechnics with a total annual capacity of thousands of tons in fish farms including the Sinhung Fish Farm.

Pyongyang Undertakes Face-lift

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, is changing its looks with the approach of the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. The Mangyongdae revolutionary site, the hometown of President Kim Il Sung, has been spruced up to suit the requirements of the new century in order to convey his greatness and revolutionary exploits down through generations.
    Projects for facelifting a lot of monumental edifices and their surroundings including the April 25 House of Culture are getting into full stride.
    The construction of dwelling houses including those of the Pyongyang Textile Mill is progressing on an extensive scale. And Sungri, Kaesonmun, Chilsongmun and other streets are taking on a new look.
    More than 10 nurseries, kindergartens and clinics are under construction in Thongil Street.
    Scientific, educational, cultural and public health institutions are also being constructed.
    The construction of Pyongyang Conservatory buildings and the E-library and gymnasium of Kim Chaek University of Technology will be soon completed.
    The construction of General Dental Hospital, Heart Hospital attached to the Red Cross Hospital and Tudan Duck Plant are going on successfully.

     Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, sent a congratulatory message to Fouad Sanyora upon his appointment as prime minister of Lebanon. Working-level Contact Between North and South

     Kaesong, July 28 (KCNA) -- A working-level contact concerning August 15 north-south football matches for reunification was held in Kaesong on July 26 and 28. At the contact the north and the south noted that leader Kim Jong Il received the chairperson of Hyundai Group and the vice-chairman of Hyundai Asan of south Korea and complied with the request of Minister of Unification Jong Dong Yong offered through them, thus making it possible to hold August 15 north-south football matches for reunification on the occasion of the significant 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea.
    At the contact both sides consulted practical matters concerning the football matches and adopted an agreement.
    According to the agreement, a men's football match will be held in Seoul on August 14 and a women' football match on August 16.

Revelacion de ambicion militarista

    　Pyongyang, 28 de julio (ATCC) -- Las fuerzas conservadoras ultraderechistas de Japon tratan de incluir en la constitucion la "posesion del ejercito de autodefensa" para legalizar la posesion de las fuerzas armadas de combate y realizar de todos modos la ambicion de potencia militar y de agresion a ultramar. Senala asi el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 28 y prosigue:
    Si Japon justifica la posesion del ejercito regular, repetira su rol de perturbador de la paz y estabilidad de Asia y del resto del mundo.
    El pais isleno disparata que la "posesion del ejercito de autodefensa" es para "la paz y la estabilidad internacionales". Pero, esta no pasa de ser una burla a la opinion publica. Las fuerzas reaccionarias japonesas no hacen caso de la ley para realizar su ambicion de potencia militar y de expansion a ultramar.
    Hace unos dias, el hombre en autoridad militar de este pais isleno expreso la disposicion de ofrecer a los terceros paises los misiles antibalisticos que desarrollan en comun EE.UU. y Japon. Esta disposicion contraviene enteramente a los "3 principios de exportacion de armamentos" de Japon.
    Esta claro para todos que consecuencias emanaran de la exportacion de los misiles antibalisticos de Japon a otros paises.

    　Japon es el colaborador mas activo de EE.UU. en las maniobras de aislamiento y aplastamiento a la RPDC.
    　Hoy en dia, la nacion coreana desarrolla la lucha contra la agresion de EE.UU. y Japon.
    　Se equivocan los dos imperialistas al pretender fabricar el segundo y tercer "convenio Taft-Katsura" para pisotear el destino de la nacion coreana.
    　Esta se vio obligada a concertar el vergonzoso "pacto de anexion a Japon" en 1905, pero en 2005 exalta al mundo el honor de poseedor de la fuerza de detencion nuclear para defender por cuenta propia su dignidad.
    　EE.UU. y Japon deben darse clara cuenta del poderio y el impetu de la nacion coreana y actuar con prudencia.
    　El sentimiento antiyanqui y antijapones de la nacion coreana se ha formado en la justa lucha de cien anos contra la agresion y la dominacion de EE.UU. y Japon.
    　Sera cierta la victoria de la nacion coreana en la batalla de confrontacion de cien anos con EE.UU. y Japon.
    　En esta batalla perderemos la muralla de division y la historia de martirio nacional y alcanzaremos una gran potencia prospera reunificada y la prosperidad comun de la nacion.
    　Todo el pueblo coreano debe poner fin a la vergonzosa historia forzada por el bandidesco "Convenio Taft-Katsura" de hace cien anos y levantarse como un solo hombre en la sagrada lucha por frustrar las maniobras de guerra de los imperialitas norteamericanos y la ambicion de nueva agresion de Japon.
    　La humanidad progresista del mundo debera luchar activamente por frustrar la arbitrariedad de EE.UU., imperio de todos los males y la ambicion militarista de Japon que sirve docilmente a su amo.
    　El CC del FDRP aprovecha esta oportunidad para exhortar a los gobiernos, partidos politicos, entidades sociales y pueblos progresistas del mundo que aprecian la justicia y la veracidad, la paz y el progreso social a elevar mas sus voces de apoyo y solidaridad con la justa lucha del pueblo coreano por poner fin a la historia de cien anos de dominacion colonial de los imperialistas norteamericanos y japoneses.
