Japan's Moves for Territorial Expansion Assailed

     Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article terms Japan's moves for territorial expansion a revelation of its ambition for a military giant and overseas expansion and a prelude to overseas aggression. Noting that the Japanese reactionaries seek to realize their long-cherished militarist ambition with their deliberate and undisguised moves to grab the lands of neighboring countries and expand their territory, the article goes on:
    They have set this year as the "year of protecting the national interests" and resorted to the frantic moves to grab others' lands and expand their territory, which goes to clearly prove that their militarist ambition has remained unchanged and reached a more grave and reckless stage of its materialization.
    Their loud-mouthed "protection of the national interests" is, in essence, the slogan for undisguised overseas aggression. Japan's moves to grab others' lands and extend its territory are the extension of the Japanese imperialists' aggression of Asia in the past.
    It is the invariable ambition of Japanese militarism to reinvade Asia and conquer the world. The Japanese reactionaries have never abandoned their ambition for overseas aggression. On the contrary, their ambition is getting stronger as the days go by. They intend to invent a pretext of overseas aggression through the territorial dispute. They attempt to intentionally deteriorate the territorial disputes with neighboring countries and escalate the tensions to perpetrate military aggression. Japan's claim to territories of neighboring countries and its moves to grab them are the root cause of the military clash.
    The Japanese reactionaries have attributed the Japanese imperialists' defeat in the past to their weak might and beefed up their military muscle for overseas aggression. They are now arrogantly behaving, foolishly considering that it is high time for them to realize the ambition for the "greater east Asia coprosperity sphere" which they failed in the past.
    Given that the Japanese reactionaries are insisting that territories of other countries are parts of "Japan's territory," it is easy to suppose what a dangerous phase their arrogance and ambition for overseas aggression have reached.
    They are going to realize their ambition for military overseas expansion, taking the best advantage of the U.S. aggressive Asia strategy.
    They should stop their reckless moves for territorial expansion, clearly mindful that their moves will bring only catastrophic disasters to Japan.

Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Celebrated Abroad

     Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held by the Indian Youth Group for the Study of Works of Comrade Kim Il Sung, round-table talks by the Secretariat of the National Movement of Uganda and an opening ceremony of a book and photo exhibition and a handicraft exhibition in Sofia of Bulgaria on July 31 and August 1 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. Displayed at the opening ceremony place were famous works of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and photos showing their undying feats and handicrafts showing the resourcefulness and talents of the Korean people.
    The chairman of the Indian Youth Group in a speech at the meeting said that Kim Il Sung embarked upon the road of revolution in his early years, founded the Juche idea, staged the anti-Japanese armed struggle and achieved the historic cause of the country's liberation.
    The deputy director for Foreign Relations Department of the Secretariat of the National Movement of Uganda and other participants in the round-table talks stressed that Kim Il Sung always lives in the hearts of the Korean people as the lodestar of the liberation of the Korean nation and the sun of the nation.
    The vice-minister of Culture and Tourism of Bulgaria in a speech expressed the hope that the current function will be a good opportunity to deepen mutual understanding between the two peoples and further strengthening exchange and relations.

Japan's Move to Evade Responsibility for Its Past Crimes under Fire

     Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- We vehemently denounce Japan for persistently scheming to evade the responsibility and settlement of its past crimes while justifying its colonial rule over Korea even 60 years after its defeat. A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea said this in a statement issued Saturday in the run-up to the 60th anniversaries of Korea's liberation and Japanese imperialists' defeat.
    The Korean workers and union members are not repressing the surging resentment at the monstrous crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists during their occupation of Korea, the statement said, and went on:
    The Korean workers and other people will deal a heavy blow at the Japanese reactionaries and give vent to the heart-rending grudge if Japan continues to evade the responsibility for its past crimes and justify them.
    It expressed the conviction that trade union organizations and working people of different countries who value justice and peace will more loudly condemn Japan for its crafty and shameless act of not honestly redressing its past crimes.

Foreign Guests Here

     Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- Foreign delegations and guests arrived here Saturday to participate in the meeting dedicated to the great persons of Mt. Paektu and an international meeting for supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea to be held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. Among them are Marwan Sudah, chairman of the Arab Committee for Solidarity with the Korean People and Supporting to the Reunification of Korea, and his party, a delegation of the France-Korea Friendship Association led by Secretary General Henri Boudin, Noboru Kameda, representative of the Society of Japan-Korea Culture, Takashi Nata, representative of the Japan Ehime Institute for Modern Korean Studies and British singer Suzannah Clarke and her party.
    Arriving here earlier were Zhou Wei, daughter of Zhou Baozhong who was related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, and her party.

Kim Il Sung's Korea Will Be Everlasting

     Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- Our country will be everlasting as Kim Il Sung's Korea shining with the idea and august name of President Kim Il Sung under the leadership of Kim Jong Il. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article Sunday. The august name of Kim Il Sung, a great revolutionary, great leader and great man, is shining as the name of the sun and the history of Korea is characterized by the invariable combination of his name with our nation and country, the article says, and goes on:
    The President embarked on the road of revolution in his early years from his 250 miles journey for liberation of Korea and fathered the immortal Juche idea which indicates the road ahead of the Korean revolution, taking the destiny of the country and the nation on his shoulders.
    Along the revolutionary road of Juche indicated by the President, Korea could defeat the most formidable imperialist enemies and rise up as a socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence. It also displayed its might as an unshakable and invincible bulwark even when socialism collapsed in different countries by the renegades of the revolution.
    Thanks to his politics of love and trust and benevolent politics the Korean people, who had been torn into fractions and could not defend their national sovereignty in the past, have realized all-people unity and cohesion for the first time in the history of the nation and the whole country has turned into a great harmonious family.
    The great history and lineage of Kim Il Sung's Korea has been purely defended by Kim Jong Il.

    The last "Arduous March" was the rigorous period when the worst hardships faced our country. But, our socialism has never shaken under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. GI's Killings and Assaults Assailed

     Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland Saturday issued information bulletin No. 906 to denounce the U. S. imperialist aggression troops for their recent ceaseless assaults on people in south Korea. GIs' assault cases following the atrocities in which they run over a south Korean passerby woman to death with a truck clearly show the extreme arrogance and arbitrariness of the U. S. imperialist aggressors who are committing murder, plunder and violence, while lording it over south Korea as a ruler, the bulletin said, and went on: All GIs' murder and violence cases against the south Korean people are not limited to a few U. S. troops but inevitable phenomena caused by the unequal subordinate relations between the United States and south Korea.
    It is the U.S. viewpoint and attitude toward south Korea that the U. S. dominates south Korea, south Korea should be dominated, the U.S. troops do anything as they please in south Korea and the south Korean people can not complain even though they are killed by them.
    It is quite national shame that the south Korean people are under the yoke of domination and subordination, having their dignity and sovereignty infringed by the United States.
    It is high time for the south Korean people to blow up their pent-up resentment and grudge against the U. S. troops as an active volcano of the anti-U.S. struggle against their 60-year long occupation of south Korea and put an end to the thrice-cursed U. S. occupation of south Korea.
    The south Korean people of all strata should wage a more vigorous anti-U.S. struggle to drive the U.S. imperialists aggressor troops, the root cause of all misfortunes and pains and the ringleader of all evils, out of south Korea, upholding the slogan "Let us not go beyond the 60 years of the U. S. troops' occupation of south Korea!" this year, 60 years after national division and the occupation of south Korea by the U.S. troops.

Japan's Move to Grab Tok Islet Protested

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- The south Korean military authorities on August 3 strongly protested against the move of Japan to grab Tok Islet, south Korean CBS reported. Recalling that Japan wrote in the "defense white paper" that Tok Islet belongs to the territory of Japan and defined it as a disputed area, the military authorities termed this a grave move to grab Tok Islet.
    Such move of Japan is intolerable, they noted, demanding the Japanese government delete all the references to the islet from the "defense white paper".

Japan's Plan for Huge Group Visit to "Yasukuni Shrine" under Fire

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Lawmakers belonging to the "National Assemblymen's League for Proper Education in History" held a press conference on August 3 at which they issued a statement denouncing Japan's plan for a huge group visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine", south Korean MBC reported. Accusing the ultra-rightist organization of Japan of planning to arrange a visit to the shrine by 200,000 persons on August 15, they in the statement declared that they would conduct a campaign for checking it.
    They decided to convey a press statement opposing the visit to the shrine to the Japanese government and bring a suit against the ultra-rightist organization of Japan.

Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Celebrated Abroad

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Mongolia and a meeting and a photo exhibition in Britain on July 27 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. The vice-chairman of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society in a speech said that President Kim Il Sung embarked upon the road of revolution in his early years and liberated Korea. He built it into a powerful socialist state, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence, and devoted his all to the reunification of the country, the speaker added.
    Today the Korean people, under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, he said, are working hard to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and reunify the country peacefully by the Korean nation itself under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
    The liberation of Korea is unthinkable apart from the leadership feats of the three generals of Mt. Paektu, the general secretary of the Federation of Peace and Friendship Organizations of Mongolia said, noting: As Mt. Paektu is a sacred mountain of Korea we attach weighty significance to the "meeting dedicated to great persons of Mt. Paektu" and will dispatch a delegation to this event to highly praise the feats of the three generals of Mt. Paektu.
    The chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist) said that Kim Il Sung is the great leader of the Korean people who retook the lost country and built a powerful socialist state and an iron-willed commander and a gifted strategist who defeated U.S. imperialism boasting of being the "strongest" in the world and started it on the downhill.
    A congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting in Mongolia in the joint name of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society, the Kim Il Sung Kindergarten in Overhangay Province, the Kim Jong Il Kindergarten in Darhan Ol Province, the Kim Jong Suk Kindergarten in Ulan Bator and a company of Mongolia. Film Show for Russian Embassy Officials

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Foreign Ministry hosted a film show for staff members of the Russian embassy here Thursday on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. Present on invitation were Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Karlov and embassy officials.

    The participants saw a Korean documentary "For the Liberation of the Country" (parts 14 and 15).

Students Headquarters for Implementing Joint Declaration Formed

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- The preparatory committee for the Headquarters of the Student Movement for the Implementation of the June 15 Joint Declaration reportedly held a conference at Hongik University of Seoul on August 2 at which it officially declared the formation of the organization. The headquarters group the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the "National Federation of University Newspaper Journalists" and other organizations.
    The inaugural declaration published at the conference said that the headquarters is an organization formed under the slogans "Let students take the lead in the struggle to open a new era of reunification" and "Let students play a leading role in opening an epochal phase of national reunification in 2005".
    We will conduct positive activities to achieve national independence and peace on the Korean Peninsula true to the idea of "By our nation itself", the basic spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, the declaration noted, and continued:
    We will stage diverse activities to encourage all the students to turn out in the struggle for reunification.
    An action program for the "August 15 grand national festival for independence, peace and reunification" was published at the conference.

Meeting Held to Hear Stories from Innovators in Period of Great Chollima Surge

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the Central Youth Hall here on Thursday and Friday to hear real stories under the title "Let's leave beautiful traces of life in the way of working hard for the prosperity of the country". Labor innovators in the period of the great Chollima surge after the war took the floor. Labor Hero Ho Kum Son, worker of the Pyongyang Textile Mill, recalled with deep emotion her days in her twenties. She stimulated her work teammates ideologically to bring about collective innovations. As a result, the work team carried out its yearly plan at 320 percent in a matter of six months, thus winning the title of the Chollima workteam in Juche 48 (1959) and that of twice Chollima workteam next year. Kim Ju Gyo of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Factory played a main role in manufacturing the nation's first electric locomotive "Pulgungi 1" and had the honor of receiving Kim Il Sung Order in the subsequent period. National Peasant Dance Contest of Agricultural Workers Held

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- A peasant dance contest of agricultural workers selected from across the country was held at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang Friday in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. Peasant dancers from Yongok-ri of Taedong County, Chujong-ri of Paechon County, the Nammin Cooperative Farm of Sinuiju City and Chungsang-ri of Chosan County were highly appreciated at the contest. They successfully represented the fruitful work of the agricultural workers through dance pieces rich in ideological content and high in artistry. Their harmonious and refined presentations were characterized by unique peasant dance ensemble, merry melodies and dance rhythms peculiar to Korea.

Koreans Called upon to Celebrate Day of Liberation as Day of Reunification

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Yun Ki Jin, chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification, reportedly issued on August 2 an appeal titled "Let's celebrate the August 15 liberation as August 15 reunification and independence through actions spearheaded by the youth and students". The appeal stressed the need for the forthcoming August 15 grand national festival to give further momentum to the strong desire for national cooperation and reunification expressed at the June 15 grand festival for national reunification held in Pyongyang. All the fellow countrymen are turning out to settle accounts with the United States, now that the independent force of the nation is growing stronger, the appeal said, stressing that the youth and students should be fully ready to wage a resolute anti-U.S. struggle to make this year the year of independence and reunification.
    It underscored the need for the youth and students to play a vanguard role in the efforts to reinforce the will of all the people to wage an anti-U.S., anti-war struggle for getting the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea.

Intensified Struggle for National Independence Called for

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- National independence helps the Koreans exalt their self-respect and dignity, reinforce their stand and viewpoint to carve out their destiny by their own efforts and calls for not tolerating any factor of violating the interests of the nation. Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
    National independence guarantees the existence and development, dignity and prosperity of the nation.
    The DPRK has firmly protected its sovereignty, regarding it as life and soul ever since the very day of its foundation. It has shaped even a line its own way without depending on foreign forces and carried out even a policy in the interests of the people. It has strong pluck and high dignity as it has established Juche in politics. The Koreans' movement for the reunification of the country is aimed at establishing sovereignty throughout Korea.
    National independence serves as an ideological and moral basis for national unity. The inter-Korean relations and the reunification movement have witnessed many remarkable events and successes over the past five years since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration because the Koreans have pooled their efforts, transcending the differences in ideology, idea, system, religious belief, party affiliation and position, under the banner of "By our nation itself" based on the principle of national independence.
    The Koreans successfully held the grand festival for national reunification with splendor in Pyongyang in the spirit of "By our nation itself," irrespective of ideology and authorities and non-governmental organizations, in June which marked the 5th anniversary of the joint declaration, thus strikingly demonstrating to the world the might of the national unity and the will of the nation to reunify the country independently.
    The June 15 era of reunification can triumph only thanks to the efforts of the Koreans united close in the spirit of national independence.
    National independence serves as a treasured sword for protecting the national interests.
    This treasured sword alone can shatter the anti-national, anti-reunification moves of foreign forces and the pro-U.S. forces in south Korea.
    The day of independent reunification is bound to break before long only when all Koreans realize cooperation for national independence, more firmly equipped with the conscience of national independence, the life and soul and might of the nation.

Japan's Military Moves Assailed

     Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Japan is reported to have begun examining the U.S. made "X-band" radar in the direction of deploying it in Japan. In another development, it is contemplating the deployment for action one year earlier than scheduled of the missile defense system (MD) which had originally been expected at around the end of 2006. All these are very disturbing military moves. Minju Joson Saturday in a signed commentary carried in this regard observes: Japan attributes these boisterous military moves reminiscent of the eve of a war to the "military threat from China and north Korea." These cannot be construed otherwise than rash military actions bringing their ulterior motive to light.
    Japan used to raise a hue and cry over the "threat" from someone whenever it took an important step for becoming a military power and realizing overseas aggression. It is the inveterate bad habit of Japan to find fault with others to meet its interests. The U.S. is now getting more frantic in its moves to bolster its military muscle in a bid to deter the major powers from exercising their influence in Northeast Asia and establish supremacy in Asian-Pacific. The MD now being jointly developed by the U.S. and Japan is also a product of their ambition to upset the strategic balance in Northeast Asia and go unchallenged in terms of strategic offensive weapons. It is Japan's chief aim to take a stride forward in its moves to emerge a military power and realize its ambition for reinvasion by taking best advantage of the U.S. military moves. This goes to prove that Japan's much publicized "threat from China and north Korea" is precisely the other side of their scenario to reinvade China and Korea.
    The situation in Northeast Asia is now rapidly deteriorating. A new wave of arms race is rising to sweep Northeast Asia where the consequences of the Cold War era have not yet been completely eradicated.

    Desde los primeros dias de su fundacion, la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea ha defendido con firmeza la soberania considerandola como la vida. Trazo la linea a su manera propia sin dependencia de las fuerzas foraneas y materializo cualquier politica conforme a los intereses del pueblo.
    Al establecer el juche en la politica, la RPDC marcha digna y majestuosamente. Nuestra nacion desea la reunificacion del pais para establecer la soberania en el ambito nacional.

    La epoca de reunificacion del 15 de junio puede triunfar solo por la fuerza de nuestra nacion unida con la soberania nacional.
    Esta es el remedio omnipotente capaz de frustrar las maniobras anti-nacion y anti-reunificacion de las fuerzas extranjeras y proyanquis del Sur de Corea. Cuando toda la nacion se arme mas firmemente con la conciencia de independencia que es la vida, la fuerza y el remedio de la nacion y realice la cooperacion independiente nacional, amanecera pronto el dia de reunificacion independiente.

Concurso de agricultores por 60 aniversario de restauracion de Corea

 　    Pyongyang, 6 de agosto (ATCC) -- En homenaje al 60 aniversario de la restauracion de Corea, tuvo lugar el dia 5 al pie de la capitalina colina Moran el Concurso de Musica y Danza Campesinas de los trabajadores agricolas seleccionados de distintas localidades del pais. En el certamen ganaron excelentes calificaciones del jurado los grupos de la comuna de Yongok del distrito de Taedong, la comuna de Chujong del distrito de Paechon, la granja cooperativa de Nammin de la ciudad de Sinuiju y la comuna de Chungsang del distrito de Chosan, que con su armonica y diestra actuacion describieron fielmente en lo ideo-artistico la valiosa vida laboral de los trabajadores agricolas manteniendo la originalidad de la melodia, el ritmo y el tempo de musicas y bailes campesinos.
