Important Anniversaries in DPRK Observed in Foreign Countries
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Seminars on the Songun politics were held by the Dar-Es-Salaam Provincial Committee of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania and the British Association for the Study of the Songun Policy and a seminar on the subject of "Let us achieve victory of socialism for humankind" by the Lebanese Youth Group for the Study of the Juche Idea from July 30 to August 1 on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea.
The deputy secretary of the Dar-Es-Salaam Provincial Committee of the Tanzanian party in a speech said that the DPRK is pursuing independent politics without reading others' faces and standing firm against the United States styling itself "the world's only superpower," adding that this is thanks to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il who has trained the Korean People's Army into an invincible army and glorified Korean-style socialism with the Songun politics.
Thanks to this politics of Kim Jong Il the Korean people will build a great prosperous powerful nation in the near future, he stressed.
The chairman of the British association in his report explained how the Songun politics was set out and its great validity and vitality and how it is being successfully pursued in the DPRK.
The chief of the Lebanese group and other figures in their report and speeches praised President Kim Il Sung as a great leader who trained the Korean people into a great and heroic people and Kim Jong Il as the sun of the 21st century as he has turned the DPRK into an invulnerable fortress on the anti-imperialist front and is building it into a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
Korean People's Just Cause Supported
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- To express solidarity with the Korean people is tantamount to solidarizing with progressive humankind in their struggle against subjugation and for freedom and liberation and to observe the month of international solidarity with the Korean people is an expression of the worldwide support to them, said the Arab Committee for Solidarity with the Korean People and for Supporting Korea's Reunification in Jordan in a statement issued on August 1 on the occasion of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people.
The world progressive people are celebrating the day of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War, the statement said, adding the great victory won by the Korean people under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung opened a history of victory of the world people and marked the beginning of the imperialist forces going downhill.
The Korean people engaged in a heroic struggle are advancing towards a brighter future while meeting all the challenges of the imperialist allied forces under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il, the statement noted.
Functions for Reunification Held in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Functions for reunification are now taking place in different parts of south Korea on the threshold of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea.
A function for reunification of the northern district of Seoul was opened on the University Street of Seoul on August 6 under the sponsorship of the Northern District, Seoul, Federation of University Student Councils under the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils and the Northern District, Seoul, Society of Youth for Loving the Country. A ceremony of renaming the University Street "Reunification Street" took place at the function.
Speakers at the function called upon the youth and students to take the lead in the patriotic movement for reunification, noting that the function is aimed to make this year a year of independent reunification, a year of getting the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea and, for the present, conduct brisk information service to significantly hold the August 15 grand national festival for independence, peace and reunification.
On August 7, a North Chungchong Provincial reunification function for independence, peace and reunification on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea was held in Chongju, North Chungchong Province, and a march of people of Taejon city and South Chungchong Province with single desire for peace and reunification, an art performance, the writing of a four line poem for reunification and other functions for reunification were held in Taejon.
Japanese reactionaries' Negation of Past History under Fire
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- We denounce the Japanese reactionaries for undisguisedly revealing their militarist ambition for staging a comeback to Korea, totally negating Japan's blood-stained history of aggression against Korea.
A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea said this in a statement issued on August 10 in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the Japanese imperialists' defeat.
Recalling that the Korean people and progressive humankind are strongly demanding Japan apologize and repent of its past crimes and compensate for them, the statement said, and went on:
The Japanese reactionaries are getting more frantic in their anti-DPRK racket, negating and distorting Japan's history of aggression in the past and raising a hue and cry over the "nuclear issue" and "abduction issue" in a bid to divert elsewhere the attention of the unbiased world public demanding the liquidation of its past crimes and evade its responsibility for them even after the adoption of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration .
The agricultural workers' hatred and resentment against the Japanese reactionaries are running high as they are desperately pursuing a hostile policy toward the DPRK, persistently refusing to make apology and compensation for the unspeakable sufferings and pain imposed by them upon the Korean people after invading Korea in the past.
If the Japanese reactionaries continue resorting to a clumsy trick to evade the responsibility for the past crimes while refusing to apologize and compensate for them, the agricultural workers will surely force them to pay for all crimes with the determination to take a thousand-fold revenge upon them.
Collection of Kim Jong Il's Works Published
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- "For the National Reunification and the Great National Unity", a collection of leader Kim Jong Il's works, was brought out by the Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House.
Contained in the collection are 16 celebrated works on the problem of national reunification, including treatises, letters and talks, he published in the period from July, Juche 61 (1972), to June, Juche 89 (2000).
In "Let Us Resolutely Struggle to Implement the Three Principles of National Reunification" and other works Kim Jong Il noted that the north and the south agreed upon the three principles of national reunification and promised the whole nation and the world to implement them, thus making it possible for the Korean people to invigorate the movement for national reunification with the clear principles and standard. And he stressed the need to hold fast to the three principles and wage a dynamic struggle in reliance on them.
Among them are works "The National Reunification Should Be Achieved by the Great Unity of the Nation" and "The Reunification of the Country Should Be Achieved Independently by the Concerted Efforts of Our Nation", which carry the ideas and theories on reunifying the country with great unity of the nation.
In his work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" Kim Jong Il said that the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding a Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo are the three charters for national reunification advanced by President Kim Il Sung. Basing himself on them, Kim Jong Il clarified the tasks and ways for realizing the cause of national reunification, the supreme desire of the nation.
Japan Defense Agency's "National Defense White Paper" Assailed
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- The Japan Defense Agency in its "national defense white paper" for 2005 published recently groundlessly pulled up and attacked the DPRK, terming it "a major factor of instability" in Northeast Asia. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes in a signed commentary: The claim made by the Japan Defense Agency is nothing but sophism making a profound confusion of right and wrong and part of a vicious smear campaign against the DPRK.
The ultra right forces of Japan have launched a campaign for visits of 200,000 people to the "Yasukuni Shrine" on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the defeat of the Japanese imperialists while the LDP committee for drafting a new constitution formally made public a "draft amendment to the constitution" aimed at legislating on the possession of regular armed forces and militarizing the Japanese society.
What remains to be done now is just to get a chance for launching military reinvasion. It is in pursuance of this aim that the Japanese warlike forces are painting the DPRK as a "major factor of instability" under the absurd pretext of "military threat" from it.
Japan predicts that its moves to grab others' territories for its territorial expansion may spark regional disputes and, furthermore, lead to armed conflicts to bring irrevocable serious consequences to Northeast Asia.
It is the height of crafty and shameless nature of Japan to term the DPRK "factor of instability" though the former is chiefly to blame for threatening peace and stability in the region.
Japan would be well advised to bear in mind that the reinvasion to be launched by it at any cost, seized by its inveterate bad habit, would only entail disastrous consequences.
Fuller Play to Might of Songun Called for
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- The joint slogans of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea fully reflect the unshakable faith and will of the Party to accomplish the cause of Korean-style socialism by force of Songun without fail which has been defended and glorified by Songun.

Floral Basket to Kim Jong Il from Abbas
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from Mahmoud Abbas, chief of the National Authority of Palestine, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea.
It was handed to DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun Thursday by Palestinian Ambassador to the DPRK Shaher Mohammed Abdlah.
More Summer Birds Come to DPRK
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- This summer a larger number of migratory birds have come to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea than usual.
Seen in the country are more than 110 kinds of summer birds.
Among them over 20 kinds of birds including Horeites cantans, Acrocephalus ardinaces, Motacilla flava and Emberiza tristrami Swinh have sharply increased in number this year.
In particular, the number of Halcyon coromanda, Halcyon pileata, Phylloscopus tonelipes Swinh, Emberiza spodocephala Pall and others nearly doubles that in the past.
Scarlet-finch, needle-tailed swift and various other species of seasonal birds, their number being 1.5 times that of the last year, have flown into the dense forest around the secret camp in Mt. Paektu.
Meanwhile, an increasing number of birds belonging to Egretta and Rallidae have nestled in west coastal areas of the country and Saxicola torguata Steju in the central area.
The government has set March and July every year as the period for protecting useful animals and organized various activities such as tree-planting, river and swampy land improvement and installation of artificial nests to provide good environment to birds.
A special attention has been directed to making favorable conditions for the protection and propagation of birds.
Congratulations to Kim Jong Il from Foreign Diplomats
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a floral basket and a congratulatory letter from the Diplomatic Corps here on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea.
They were handed to DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun Thursday by Palestinian Ambassador to the DPRK Shaher Mohammed Abdlah who is doyen of the corps.
Letter to Kim Jong Il from Foreigners
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il Thursday received a letter from the participants in the Meeting Dedicated to the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu.
The letter noted that Mt. Paektu is well-known to the world as it is associated with the precious feats of the great persons of Mt. Paektu who made particular contributions to the human cause of independence and the movement for national liberation and, especially, it is a sacred place where the great Songun revolutionary leadership was started.

@Munsan, 10 de agosto (Corresponsal de ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar del 8 al 10 del mes en curso en esta ciudad del Sur de Corea el V contacto de trabajo entre el Norte y el Sur de Corea para la cooperacion de transporte maritimo.
En esta ocasion, ambas partes discutieron los problemas practicos que se presentan para cumplir satisfactoriamente el acuerdo sobre la cooperacion de transporte maritimo ya concertado conforme al espiritu fundamental de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y el anexo para su ejecucion y publicaron un comunicado conjunto.
Segun el documento, el Norte y el Sur acordaron permitir a partir del proximo 15 de agosto el paso de las embarcaciones civiles del Norte por el estrecho de Jeju y el uso de las rutas maritimas que atraviesan las aguas jurisdiccionales de su contraparte cuando los barcos de ambas partes navegan directamente entre un puerto y el otro determinados de su parte.
Ademas, quedaron en iniciar el 12 de agosto las comunicaciones alambricas de las autoridades de transporte maritimo de ambas partes por via Phanmunjom.
El Norte y el Sur acordaron hacer esfuerzos por asegurar dentro del ano en curso las comunicaciones directas a larga distancia por los equipos instalados en los barcos para poder intercambiar informaciones necesarias al transito de barcos u otros asuntos con los organos de transporte maritimo, las agencias y las autoridades de transporte maritimo de ambas partes cuando las embarcaciones estan en navegacion o amarradas.
El Norte y el Sur decidieron llamar el aparato de consulta de transporte maritimo Norte-Sur como el "Consejo Norte-Sur para Cooperacion de Transporte Maritimo" y fijar la fecha y el lugar para su primera reunion por el modo de intercambio de documentos.
Rodong Sinmun refuta nueva acusacion de Japon
@Pyongyang, 11 de agosto (ATCC) -- En estos dias, la Agencia de Defensa de Japon se muestra muy provocativa a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea al acusarla otra vez del supuesto "factor sumamente inestable" para el Nordeste Asiatico en su "carta blanca de defensa" de edicion del 2005.
Esta insistencia es un sofisma para dar lo blanco por lo negro y un eslabon de las virulentas maniobras intrigantes de Japon para calumniar a la RPDC.
Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual insertado en su edicion de hoy y prosigue:
En visperas del 60 aniversario de la derrota de Japon en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, las fuerzas ultraderechistas japonesas lanzaron una campana de 200 mil visitantes al "Santuario Yasukuni". Mientras tanto, el comite elaborador del anteproyecto de nueva constitucion del Partido Democratico Liberal anuncio oficialmente un "proyecto de enmienda constitucional" encaminada a legalizar la posesion de un ejercito regular y militarizar la sociedad japonesa.
Lo que les queda por hacer es buscar un pretexto para atizar el fuego a una nueva agresion militar. He aqui tal intento de las fuerzas belicistas de Japon que inventaron el rumor de la "amenaza militar" de la RPDC para ponerle a esta la etiqueta del supuesto "factor sumamente inestable". Esto deviene una muestra evidente de la astucia y el descaro propios de los japoneses porque quien amenaza de verdad la paz y la estabilidad del Nordeste Asiatico es precisamente Japon.
El pais-isla maniobra para arrebatar tierras ajenas y expandir su territorio a sabiendas de que esto puede generar o agudizar los litigios regionales y, a la larga, producir hasta conflictos armados que daran una situacion muy grave en esa region.
Pero, Japon debe saber tambien que si se obstina en emprender el camino de una nueva agresion sin dejar ese vicio de acusar a otros, sufrira consecuencias catastroficas.
