Gift to Kim Il Sung from Swiss Committee

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung was presented with a gift by the Swiss Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation. The gift was conveyed to an official of the DPRK embassy in Bern by Martin Lotscher, chairman of the Swiss committee, on August 13.

Fabrication of "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" Flailed

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- The Japanese imperialists are a fraud of international laws and a shamelessly heinous robber as they fabricated "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" and enforced unheard-of harsh colonial rule over Korea for over 40 years. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article Tuesday, 95 years after the fabrication of the treaty.
    The treaty was illegal and false from A to Z as the Japanese imperialists cooked it by force after occupying Korea and it was "concluded" in a coercive and conspiratorial way in defiance of the general requirement and procedures for a treaty, the article says, and goes on:
    It is self-evident that any treaty bearing the false ratification of the top ruler of a country, the most important precondition for its effectuation, has no legal binding force. However, the Japanese imperialists forged the ratification of the Korean king for the above-said treaty in gross breach of international law.
    The "annexation treaty" has already been recognized as illegal one by the United Nations, and the Japanese imperialists, too, had no way but to admit that the treaty had no legality and validity. This can be proved by the fact that they kept the fabricated treaty as a top secret and announced it to the world on August 29, one week after its concoction.
    The reactionaries of Japan are now claiming that the annexation of Korea by Japan was "lawful" and the Korean people "benefited" from Japan's colonial rule although it committed such hideous crime of violating international law. This illogical assertion is an intolerable insult and a mockery of the Korean people. It is the will of the Koreans to certainly force Japan, their sworn enemy, to pay for its past crimes no matter how much water may flow under the bridge and how many times generations are replaced, the article says, urging Japan to settle its crime-woven past as early as possible.

Furnace Firing Ceremony Held at Taean Friendship Glass Factory

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- A furnace firing ceremony was held Monday at the Taean Friendship Glass Factory now close to its completion. Present at the ceremony were Premier of the DPRK Cabinet Pak Pong Ju, Minister of Construction and Building-Materials Industries Tong Jong Ho, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Yong Il, Vice-Minister of Foreign Trade Ri Ryong Nam, officials concerned, officials and workers, builders and soldier-builders of the glass factory. Also present there were members of the Chinese government economic and trade delegation led by Chen Jian, assistant to the minister of Commerce, Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of the embassy here, Teng Fuquan, general director of the Yaohua Glass Group Corporation of China, and other Chinese technicians, workers and guests.
    Ryang Jang Gyun, vice-minister of Construction and Building-Materials Industries, in his speech said that the construction of the Taean Friendship Glass Factory now making successful progress under the deep care of the top leaders of the DPRK and China will greatly inspire the Korean people in their efforts to build a great prosperous powerful nation.
    He stressed that the Korean people would as ever join the fraternal Chinese people in making every possible effort to boost the traditional friendship between the two countries.
    Chen Jian, assistant to the minister of Commerce, noted that the furnace of the factory has been fired to provide a guarantee for the successful commissioning ceremony thanks to the concerted efforts of the governments and builders of the two countries. He hoped that the Chinese and Korean technicians and workers would closely cooperate with each other and wind up all the preparations for the commissioning of the factory in time and in good quality, true to the expectation of the top leaders of the two countries.
    The participants in the ceremony broke into an enthusiastic applause when Ryang Jang Gyun and General Officer of the Korean People's Army Ri Song On and Chen Jian and Wu Donghe pressed the buttons to start a fire in the furnace respectively on behalf of the DPRK side and the Chinese side.
    Firecrackers were set off and brass band music resounded forth outside the furnace shop.

Int'l Table Tennis Tournament Closes

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- The 19th Pyongyang International Table Tennis Invitational Tournament opened on Aug. 18 was closed with due ceremony at the Table Tennis Gymnasium in Chongchun Street, Pyongyang, on Monday.      Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- The August 15 grand festival for national reunification was successfully held and multi-faceted dialogues and contacts, cooperation and exchanges are brisk between the north and the south of Korea. Day of Korea’s Liberation Celebrated Abroad

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- Round-table talks were held by the Misr Arab Socialist Party of Egypt and lectures were given at Guayaquil University of Ecuador, in the conference hall of the Zambian government, by the Nigeria-Korea Printing Industry Company and the Malabo Committee of the "Torch" youth organization of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea and a reading session, a film show and an opening ceremony of a week-long photo exhibition were held by the General Kim Jong Il Peruvian Amicable Institute, the psychological faculty of Chambogo University of Uganda and the National Cultural Hall of Uganda from August 2 to 10 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation. On display at the photo exhibition were photos showing the anti-Japanese armed struggle led by President Kim Il Sung and the achievements made by the DPRK thanks to the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il.
    Korean films dealing with the exploits Kim Il Sung performed by achieving Korea's liberation were shown at the film show. Speakers at those functions said that Kim Il Sung led the anti-Japanese armed struggle, dealing crushing blows at the Japanese imperialists and liberating Korea, beat back the armed aggression by the U.S. imperialists and thus honorably defended the national independence and sovereignty and in the post-war period turned the DPRK into a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defense.

1/f Fluctuation Treatment System

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- The newly developed 1/f fluctuation treatment system has proved successful in clinical practice in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It, developed by the Medical Appliances Institute under the Academy of Medical Science, was highly appreciated at the 8th national show of scientific and technical successes gained in the public health sector held from August 1 to 10. The computer-aided system, the third generation of body-stimulating treatment system, is based on the principle of 1/f fluctuation common to the natural world and the living body. It controls labor pain and homeostasis.
    The 1/f fluctuation system with sound effects of famous songs gives impetus to the part of disease and thus treats patients while they feel pleasant and comfortable. The system is applicable to the treatment of various kinds of neuralgia including brachialgia, sciatica and backache, insomnia, autonomic imbalance, hypertension, stress, etc.
    It has no side effect in comparison with the existing electro puncture appliances and physiotherapist appliances using direct current and low frequency, high frequency, ultrasonic waves and microwave.

Livestock Co-op Farms for Pyongyang

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- There are five livestock farms (Kubin, Ransan, Songsok, Thaejam and Munhwa) in Kangdong County, Pyongyang, the Democratic People｡ﾇs Republic of Korea. They have more than 10,000 superior breeding goats.
    The Kubin farm is raising nearly 2,000 goats.
    The other four farms are pasturing several thousand goats in their natural and artificial grass fields.
    Each household of the farms raises 3-5 goats.
    The farms have built well-furnished fodder production and milk-processing workshops and are turning out large quantities of processed milk.
    They provide processed milk including kefir and goat meat to over 20 kefir service centers and branches and foodstuff shops in the city.

National Scientific and Technological Presentation Opens

     Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- A national presentation of scientific and technological achievements was opened at the Three-Revolution Exhibition Tuesday in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.     　Pyongyang, 23 de agosto (ATCC) -- El diario Rodong Sinmun inserto en su edicion del dia 23 un articulo individual con motivo del 95o aniversario de la fraguacion del "Tratado de anexion de Corea a Japon". 　Los imperialistas japoneses inventaron de modo fraudulento dicho "tratado" y practicaron mas de 40 anos la cruel dominacion colonial sobre Corea, senala el articulo y prosigue:
    El tratado fue un documento ilegal que fabricaron los imperialistas japoneses a fuerza de bayonetas de modo intrigante y en desprecio a las demandas y las formalidades generales internacionales para la concertacion del tratado.
    　Es logico que no tenga validez juridica alguna el tratado urdido por la falsificada firma del maximo gobernante que es importantisima condicion para la entrada en vigor del documento juridico.
    　Ya la ONU reconocio la invalidacion de dicho "tratado" y lo hicieron tambien los mismos imperialistas japoneses. Lo prueba el hecho de que estos, al cabo de mantenerlo en secreto, llegaron a darlo a conocer una semana despues, exactamente dicho el 29 de agosto.
