Korean Socialism Praised by Egyptian Figure
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- While staying in the DPRK, I had opportunities to see for myself great successes made by the DPRK under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Yehia Zakaria Khairallah, secretary general of the Arab Association for Arts, Culture and Information of Egypt, said this at a meeting held in Cairo on Sept. 6 to hear his report about his visit to the DPRK to attend the Meeting Dedicated to the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu and the World Conference for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea. Giving his impressions of various functions he attended, he noted that he had the honor of being seated near Kim Jong Il when appreciating the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang," "Kim Il Sung Prize" laureate.
Kim Jong Il is deeply respected and trusted not only by the Korean people but by the world progressive people, he said, and continued:
Miraculous successes have been achieved in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation in the DPRK under his wise leadership in recent years.
Thanks to the Songun politics pursued by him the military capability of the DPRK and its overall national power have grown stronger than ever before.
The U.S. styling itself "the world's only superpower" dares not provoke the DPRK.
Korean socialism will be ever-victorious as long as it is led by the great His Excellency Kim Jong Il.
I will work hard to disseminate the Juche idea and boost the friendly relations with the DPRK.
Withdrawal of U.S. Forces from S. Korea Urged
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Jo Yun Hae, chairman of the Headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, made public a statement on Sept. 8 60 years since the U.S. forces landed in south Korea.
The statement strongly demanded the U.S. withdraw its forces, chieftain of aggression and war, from south Korea at once.
Noting that the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea was a direct product of the policy of aggression of the successive U.S. administrations to use south Korea as a strategic base from which to dominate Northeast Asia, the statement went on:
It is because of the U.S. policy to dominate Korea by force of arms that acute confrontation persists between the DPRK and the U.S. and the Korean Peninsula remains the world's biggest hotspot.
There is growing desire among the Koreans in the north and the south to achieve the independent reunification of Korea in the idea of "By our nation itself." This reality clearly indicates that the U.S. forces have no justification to stay in south Korea.
Photo, Book, Handicraft and Art Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- An exhibition of photos, books, handicrafts and art pieces opened in the Korean Cultural Center in Artsyom City under the co-sponsorship of the United Confederation of Koreans (Kothongryon) in Maritime Territory of Russia, Kothongryon in Artsyom City and the Maritime Territory Association of Korean Nationals in Russia on Sept. 7 to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the DPRK.
Present at the opening ceremony were Pak Phyong Won, chairman of the Kothongryon in Maritime Territory of Russia, Kim Kyong Ryol, vice-chairman of the Central Association of Korean Nationals in Russia, and other compatriots.
Jong Kum San, first vice-chairman of the Kothongryon in Artsyom City, in an opening address said that President Kim Il Sung is the eternal sun of Juche and father of socialist Korea, highly praising his exploits performed in the nation-building.
He stressed the need for the Koreans in Russia to uphold leader Kim Jong Il with loyalty.
National Day of DPRK Observed
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- A seminar and a film show were held in Bangladesh and Mexico on Sept. 1 and 3 and meetings, film shows and photo exhibitions in Tanzania, Egypt and India on Sept. 3 and 4 respectively to mark the 57th anniversary of the DPRK.
Korean films including "Comrade Kim Il Sung Is Always with Humankind" and the "55th Anniversary of the Republic" were screened at the film shows.
Haider Akbar Khan Rano, director of the Bangladesh Institute of the Juche Idea, said in his speech that the DPRK founded by President Kim Il Sung has dynamically advanced along the road of victory and glory, adding that the appearance of the DPRK, a powerful socialist nation, instills strong confidence and courage into the world revolutionary people.
Juan Campos Vega, chairman of the Mexican Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea, noted that the history of the DPRK is one of Songun and the foundation of the Republic was a product of Songun, adding that immensely rosy is the future of the Korean people under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il who has carried forward the Songun idea and line of Kim Il Sung.
Francis Fanuel Lyimo, vice-chairman of the Tanzania-DPRK Friendship Association, said in his speech at a meeting that the founding of the DPRK by Kim Il Sung enabled the Korean people to become a true master of the State and society and a dignified people hewing out their destiny independently.
B. C. Gupta, chairman of the Juche Idea Study Society of Delhi of India, referred to the fact that the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il is a unique political mode which occupies a distinguished position in the human history of politics, adding that the justice and vitality of the Songun idea and politics have been clearly proved in the DPRK.
A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the seminar in Bangladesh.
Kye Sun Hui Emerges Thrice World Judo Title Holder
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- DPRK judoist Kye Sun Hui bagged a gold medal by coming first in the 57kg category of women's judo in the 2005 World Judo Championships held in Cairo.
Kye Sun Hui, winner of Kim Il Sung Prize, labor hero and people's sportswoman, has thus emerged a thrice world woman judo title holder.
The 2005 championships drew more than 520 judokas from 95 countries. She beat a Swedish rival by wazari in the first match of preliminaries.
Then she trounced her American rival by ippon through immobilization. She proceeded to the final after beating Austrian and Cuban judokas by ippon.
She had a final match with her German rival on Sept. 10. Kye won ippon by throwing the opponent by buttock in its 50th second, thus holding the world judo title again.
Meanwhile, DPRK judoka An Kum Ae placed third in the women's 52kg category of the championships.
Abolition of NSL Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The Bar Association for a Democratic Society of south Korea reportedly made public a statement demanding abolition of the "National Security Law" on Sept. 6.
The statement recalled that a human rights organization of the United Nations some time ago termed the ruling that the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) was an enemy-benefiting organization a violation of the international rules providing for the guarantee of political rights and freedom of thinking and conscience.
This decision made by the organization once again underscored the need to totally scrap the NSL running counter to the development of the south-north relations and peaceful reunification of Korea and hamstringing the efforts to improve the human rights of society so as to be free from the yoke of the evil law at an early date, the statement added.
It strongly urged the "National Assembly" to actively come out for the total repeal of the NSL and the "government" to take immediate measures to make Hanchongryon legal and abolish the NSL.
S. Korean Organizations Demand Withdrawal of U.S. Forces
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Several organizations of south Korea reportedly made public statements calling upon all the people to come out in the struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea on Sept. 8 60 years since the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea.
The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in a statement titled "We solemnly declare a year of the withdrawal of the U.S. forces" said that 60 years since the U.S. forces landed in south Korea are a blood-stained history of crimes against humanity and massacres. Had they not landed in south Korea, the nation would have not been divided nor millions of Koreans would have met tragic deaths, it said, and went on:
It is not possible to achieve independence, peace and national reunification nor is it possible to escape a disaster of a nuclear war as long as the U.S. forces remain in south Korea.
The People's Solidarity in the Western Part of Seoul noted in its statement that the U.S. forces present in south Korea have savagely dampened the wishes of the south Koreans for a new society and new politics for the past 60 years. The danger of a nuclear war will never disappear on the Korean Peninsula as long as the U.S. forces stay in south Korea, it stressed, and went on:
"Let's not allow the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea to go beyond 60 years!" This is the earnest call of the 70 million Koreans and the aspiration and demand of the south Korean people. Let us make this year a year of the total withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea and a year of national reunification.
The Pusan Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in the statement titled "Let's put an end to the 60 year-long presence of the U.S. forces in south Korea and build an independent reunified country" called upon all the people to have the issue of the 40 odd year-long occupation of Korea by the Japanese imperialists settled and put a period to the 60 year-long presence of the U.S. forces in south Korea and the disgraceful history imposed upon it by outside forces and come out as one for building an independent and reunified country.
End to U.S. Military Presence in S. Korea Urged
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Alliance for Democracy and National Unification in Japan, the south Korean Youth League in Japan, the Society of south Korean Democratic Women in Japan and the Council of south Korean Students in Japan reportedly made public a joint statement titled "Let us get the U.S. forces withdrawn and establish national sovereignty" on Sept. 8.
Noting that the people in south Korea have been deprived of the national sovereignty by the U.S. and suffered pains from national division since its forces occupied south Korea under the mask of "liberator", the statement said they can no longer allow south Korea to be a land for realizing the U.S. ambition for supremacy and a springboard for a war of aggression against the north.
The statement went on:
The 70 million Koreans are faced with the noble task to achieve the historic cause of independent national reunification by their concerted efforts. To this end, it is important to resolutely reject interference of the outside forces and regain national sovereignty.
The national sovereignty can be achieved only when they drive the outside forces out of south Korea. Independent and peaceful reunification of the country is impossible to be achieved unless they put an end to the U.S. war threat and military confrontation threatening existence of the nation.
The statement called upon all the Koreans to dynamically come out in the struggle for withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea.
Congratulations to Egyptian President
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Sunday sent a congratulatory message to Mohamed Hosni Mubarak upon his reelection as president of Egypt.
Expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries will grow stronger in the future, the message sincerely wished the Egyptian president good health and happiness and new success in his responsible work for the stability and the prosperity of the country.
Floral Baskets Sent to DPRK Embassies
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were sent to DPRK missions in different countries by political parties, ministries, organizations and senior officials of those countries in celebration of the 57th birthday of the DPRK.
Among them were the Department of External Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Social Security, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Union of Friendship Organizations of Viet Nam, the Commission for External Affairs of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, the president of the State Inspection Committee and the minister of Health who are members of the Central Committee of the Party, the chairman of the Proletarian and Islamic Revolutionary Wounded Organization, the vice-minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics and the general secretary of the "Workers' House" of Iran, and the chairman of the National Progressive Unionist Party and the vice-chairman of the National Democratic Party of Egypt.
The floral baskets were laid before the portraits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il at the missions.
U.S. State Department's Report Attacking DPRK Refuted
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of State in its recent report unreasonably listed the DPRK as a state violating the convention banning biological weapons. The report asserted that the DPRK, which acceded to the convention, presented a "false report" on its compliance with the convention to the U.N. while persistently developing biological weapons.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun Monday says in a signed commentary:
The U.S. mud-slinging was nothing but a plot to isolate the DPRK in the international arena by bringing all sorts of charges to it and justify its policy to stifle the DPRK. The commentary cites facts to prove that the United States has been accustomed to deliberately and systematically violating various international conventions on disarmament including the convention banning biological weapons.
It goes on:
The DPRK is not a violator of the above-said convention but the biggest victim of those weapons and the U.S. is chiefly responsible for them.
There still exist on the international arena a number of pending issues that arouse a serious concern of the international community chiefly because the U.S. is obstructing the settlement of the issues in pursuit of its sinister aim.
The reality goes to clearly prove that a proper behavior on the part of the U.S. alone would make it possible to automatically settle such issues as the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and terrorism, issues of so serious concern of international community, and reenergize the process of disarmament.
The United States would be well advised to stop such rash acts as hurting its dialogue partner in a bid to chill the climate for building confidence between the DPRK and the U.S. and becloud the prospects of the six-way talks and the settlement of the nuclear issue.
Elimination of Flunkeyist Traitors in S. Korea Urged
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The National Affairs Institute and the Compilation Committee for Biographical Dictionary of Pro-Japanese Koreans in south Korea jointly made public the list of at least 3,200 pro-Japanese elements on August 29, 95 years after the Japanese imperialists' fabrication of Korea-Japan "Annexation Treaty" and their proclamation that "Korea is completely annexed to the empire of Japan."
A spokesman for the DPRK History Society stated in a statement on Sept. 11 that the publication of the list of pro-Japanese elements clearly showed once again how foul anti-national the "legitimacy" clamored by the successive dictatorial regimes in south Korea was and why national unity and reunification were not achieved.
Doings by the successive regimes in south Korea had been consistent with shame and disgrace, he said, and continued:
Even after the liberation of Korea the foreign forces' colonial rule has been maintained by the traitors to the nation who committed treacherous actions, kowtowing to the Japanese imperialists only for their own pleasure and wealth in disregard of the destiny of the nation. Yusin dictatorship sprouted out of that root, which was succeeded by the military dictatorships of the fifth and the sixth republics and the "civilian" dictatorship.
Withdrawal of S. Korean Troops from Iraq Urged
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities, not content with staging war exercises with the U.S. against their fellow countrymen in the north, conducted exercises under the simulated conditions of an actual war against the north even in Iraq. This is an intolerable crime against the nation. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this when answering a question raised by KCNA Monday. The dispatch of south Korean troops to Iraq is aimed to let them accumulate experience of an actual war and round off the preparations for a war of aggression against the north, he said, and continued:
South Korea's Jaitun unit in Iraq has already conducted in the last 12 months more than 2,900 military exercises under the simulated conditions of an actual war including "combined operation" with the U.S. through which it claimed it has boosted the army's capacity to carry out an operation in "contingency."
The south Korean military authorities also seek to send special warfare troops to Iraq and let them get experience in "the civil-related operation" for maintaining security and controlling civilians in the north in the event of "contingency".
The south Korean authorities are talking about "reconciliation" and "cooperation" before the north side but whetting their swords to do harm to their dialogue partner when they go back. This double-dealing behavior is intolerable, the spokesman warned, urging them to pull at once their units from Iraq as demanded by the public at home and abroad.
Sokbinggo, Historic Relic of Korea
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Sokbinggo is one of the historic relics of Korea. It is a stone store to preserve lumps of ice, which the ancestors of the Korean nation used as a store of ice.
A historical record says ice lumps were utilized in summer season in Puyo, an ancient slave state in Korea. And according to the historical document "The Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms", the King of Silla ordered the government office to keep ice in storage in November 504.
All this shows that the Korean nation had used ice in their life from old times while storing it.
The sokbinggo stores in Haeju and Kyongju prove this.
The sokbinggo in Okgye-dong, Haeju, South Hwanghae Province, is a half-underground structure with crescent ceiling which was built around the 10th century.
It was built by the method of erecting 12 arch-shape granite frames at intervals of 1.4meters and covering on them with large-sized flat rocks.
The inside of the building is 28.3 meters long, 4.5 meters wide and about 6 meters high.
The structure is mounded 1.5 meters thick with earth mixed with lime and clad with turf densely.
The sokbinggo in Kyongju, North Kyongsang Province, is similar to that in Haeju except its size.
Its floor is inclined so the ice water may flow out and there are three ventilators on the ceiling.
Each sokbinggo was built with hundreds of trimmed stones without using adhesives. Thousand and hundreds of years have passed since their construction, but they remain as they were.
Sokbinggo shows the then developed stone architecture of the Korean nation.
KCNA Blasts Provocative Remarks of U.S. Commander in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea recently claimed that they are modifying their military strategy in the direction of depending on ultra-modern weapons to cope with any military conflict with north Korea while talking about its threat of conventional weapons and biological and chemical weapons.
These remarks go beyond the tolerance limit as they reflect the U.S. policy stance which presupposes military conflicts, more specifically a war of aggression in dealing with the "north Korean issue".
The gravity of such remarks lie in that they were made when the international community and countries concerned are calling for utmost self-restraint in provoking any dialogue partner, giving the soon-to-be-resumed six-party talks for the settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula due political and moral consideration.
Those belligerent remarks clearly reveal the U.S. arrogant stand toward the talks and its bitter hostility toward the dialogue partner.
Through such remarks the U.S. once again disclosed its sinister intention to chill the atmosphere for peace, reunification, reconciliation and cooperation prevailing on the peninsula and launch a war of aggression on it at any cost.
If its military strategy is being modified in the above-said direction, as he claimed, this will pose a more serious problem.
It is well known that the U.S. military bases in south Korea are the biggest war powder magazines in the Far East built according to the U.S. strategy to dominate Asia.
Deployed there are thousands of tactical nuclear weapons, a large number of depleted uranium shells, various types of aircraft including F-16 and F-15 fighters, nuclear delivery means, and Lance, PAC-3 and hundreds of other type missiles, atomic artillery pieces and various other type military hardware. This has converted south Korea into an area where strategic weapons are deployed more densely than any other parts of the world and the most dangerous nuclear arsenal in Asia.
Such being a stark fact, the U.S. strategy calls for equipping its forces in south Korea with ultra-modern weapons, a clear indication of its dangerous ambition to launch a war at any cost instead of ending the military stand-off with the DPRK.
The U.S. war to put Asia under its control in the new century, using south Korea as a springboard, is unavoidable and it may break out any moment as long as there remain U.S. military bases in south Korea.
The U.S. military moves intensified in and around the Korean Peninsula are increasing the military tension in the region and sparking off a new arms race.
Gone is the 20th century when the U.S. justified their military presence in south Korea.
The end of the Cold War worldwide and the strong trend in the peninsula toward reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification after the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration prove that there is neither reason nor pretext for the U.S. to keep its military bases in south Korea any longer.
If the U.S. truly stands for detente and peace in and around the peninsula, it should behave itself swimming with the strong trend towards peace in the region and take a bold decision to withdraw its forces, the root cause of instability in the peninsula, from south Korea at an early date.
This is the requirement of the times.
Kim Yong Nam Meets Congratulatory Group of Koreans in Japan
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and conversed with the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan led by Ko Tok U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, to celebrate the 57th birthday of the DPRK in an atmosphere overflowing with compatriotic feelings at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today.
On hand were officials concerned.
