Floral Baskets Sent to DPRK Missions

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were sent to DPRK missions in different countries by high-ranking officials, political parties, organizations and institutions of those countries in celebration of the 57th birthday of the DPRK. Among them were the chairman of the Central Committee of the National Construction Front of Laos who is member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, and the minister of Public Security of Laos, the deputy general secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, the president of the People's Assembly, the prime minister and the minister of Defence of Syria, the president of the Senate, the vice-prime minister who is minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the vice-prime minister who is co-minister of the Interior, the senior minister who is minister of Commerce, the senior minister who is minister of Finance and the Economy and the minister of Health of Cambodia, the foreign minister of India and the deputy secretary of the General People's Committee of Libya, and the People's Party, the FUNCINPEC Party of Cambodia, the Phnom Penh Municipal Office of Cambodia, and the New Left Movement, the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students and the Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea in Peru and the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship.
    The floral baskets were laid before the portraits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il at the missions.

DPRK Hailed

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Figures of the Communist Party of Syria (Bagdash) and the Lebanese Communist Party issued statements on the occasion of the 57th birthday of the DPRK. Abdul Wahab Rashwani, member of the Political Bureau of the Syrian party, said in his statement on Sept. 4 that the DPRK, founded and developed by President Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea, has become a powerful fortress of anti-imperialist and anti-U.S. struggle and a symbol of victorious socialism under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il who is winning brilliant victories with his ever-victorious Songun politics. The Communist Party of Syria (Bagdash) is convinced that under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea the Korean people will achieve the reunification of the country and build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation without fail, overcoming all difficulties and ordeals, the statement said, adding: The two parties will further strengthen support and solidarity with each other in the same front of the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle.
    The representative of the Lebanese Communist Party in Syria, said in his statement on Sept. 5 that the achievements and experience gained by the DPRK shining with the august names of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in socialist construction and anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle serve as a textbook showing the road ahead of the progressive humankind and revolutionary parties the world over to follow. The Lebanese people fully support the just struggle waged by the friendly Workers' Party and the people of Korea under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, he stated.

Withdrawal of U.S. Forces Urged in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- A people's rally was reportedly held in Inchon, south Korea, on Sept. 11 in demand of the U.S. forces' pullback to put an end to their 60 year-long presence in south Korea. Attending it were at least 5,000 members of civic and public organizations. Jong Kwang Hun, permanent representative of the "National People's Solidarity," Ri Hye Son, chairperson of the Reunification Committee of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, and other speakers said at the rally that the U.S. forces landed in south Korea, revealing true colors as aggressors, and held that the statue of MacArthur, a symbol of the occupation forces, should be removed without fail. They said that south Korean people can not starve to death for the U.S. to be well-off and that workers, peasants and all other people should turn out in the campaign for the U.S. forces' pullback to put an end to such pain.
    The U.S. forces in south Korea who are scheming for a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula are the first object for the settlement of the past, they stressed. A declaration was made public at the rally, which called upon all the fellow countrymen to further strengthen the unity and cohesion under the banner of anti-U.S., anti-war struggle and certainly terminate the 60 year-long U.S. military presence in south Korea and make this year a year of the withdrawal of the U.S. forces. Then, the participants urged the removal of the statue of MacArthur, holding slogan boards with letters "Withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea."

Japanese Politicians Urged to Stop Visiting Yasukuni Shrine

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- With nothing can the Japanese reactionaries cover up the sinister aim they have sought in their visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine" and the distortion of history or justify them, says Minju Joson Wednesday in a signed commentary. It goes on: The Japanese chief executive asserted that he can not understand why foreigners interfere in his and other Japanese' visits to the shrine, claiming that the visit is made solely from a humanitarian viewpoint. This was nothing but sophism in which the nature of the problem was craftily twisted.
    Even a mere child can easily understand what visiting the shrine and paying homage to war dead mean and what this symbolizes.
    The chief executive has repeatedly clarified his stand to visit the shrine despite domestic and foreign protest and denunciation. This can not be interpreted otherwise than the pursuance of such sinister political purposes as inciting the idea of militarist overseas aggression.
    When viewed from this point of view, Japanese politicians' visit to the shrine, a center for spreading the idea of militarist overseas aggression, should be stopped and the distortion of history should be checked in view of its inherent reactionary essence and nature.
    This is a very important and vital issue related to peace in Asia and other parts of the world.
    It is without precedent in history that wrong acts were totally justified. The Japanese reactionaries should immediately stop their militarist moves for overseas aggression, an insult and mockery of the Asians, and opt to settle Japan's past as early as possible.

Anti-U.S. Cultural Events Held in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Anti-U.S. cultural events and information activities were reportedly staged in different parts of south Korea on Sept. 10 under the co-sponsorship of the "National People's Solidarity" and the Reunification Solidarity of south Korea. In Seoul, an anti-U.S. cultural event demanding the withdrawal of the U.S. forces was held with an attendance of members of civic and public organizations and students. At the event, members of the traveling group for peace against war and for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea said they keenly felt that the desire of the people to live in an independent, reunified country has grown stronger after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. And they called for intensifying the anti-U.S. struggle to meet the desire.
    A resolution was read out at the event, which stated that the U.S. forces, the root cause of national division and the chief culprit for threat to peace, should be withdrawn to realize genuine peace on the Korean Peninsula and its reunification. It stressed the need to drive the U.S. forces out of south Korea at any cost and regain the trampled national dignity and sovereignty.
    Then, an art performance on the anti-U.S. theme was given to denounce the killings of civilians perpetrated by the U.S. imperialists during the Korean war, the U.S. moves to ignite another war on the Korean Peninsula and the crimes committed by the U.S. forces in south Korea.

Neo-Liberal Policy Accused in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The south Korean People's Action against Neo-Liberalism and Globalization and the People's Action against the World Trade Organization reportedly held a press conference in Seoul on Sept. 8 blasting the authorities' unpopular neo-liberal policy. Workers have become jobless or part-time workers and most of the peasants left their native land after losing their land and common people are saddled with a huge amount of debt due to the neo-liberal policy of the authorities, the organizations deplored. Accusing the authorities of conducting humiliating free trade negotiations aimed at leaving the local markets to the tender mercies of foreign forces under the signboard of "globalization," they urged the authorities to immediately give up the policy of causing poverty, despair, the yawning gap between the rich and the poor and inequality in society.

National Seminar on Kim Jong Il's Work Held

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- A national seminar on the famous work of leader Kim Jong Il "On Having Correct Understanding of Nationalism" was held at the People's Palace of Culture on Sept. 13. Present there were Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Jong Ha Chol, Minister of Education Kim Yong Jin and other officials concerned, officials of ministries and national institutions, officials of the party, administrative and working people's organizations in Pyongyang and those of scientific, educational, party cadre training, literary, art and media institutions and those in the field of the preservation of revolutionary relics.
    Jo Chol, vice-president of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Jong Yong, vice-president of the Academy of Social Sciences, and other speakers noted that the work of Kim Jong Il serves as another new milestone in demonstrating the dignity and honor of Kim Il Sung's nation and successfully carrying out the historic cause of national reunification. They clearly explained and proved the originality, justice and historic significance of Kim Jong Il's idea and theory on nationalism.
    Thanks to noble patriotism and outstanding leadership of President Kim Il Sung, the Juche-oriented view on nationalism was formulated scientifically, the Juche-based theory on nationalism was set out and socialism and nation have been linked with each other by the same destiny, they said, and went on:
    The historic work of Kim Jong Il helped develop in depth the Juche-oriented idea and theory on nationalism into a scientific and revolutionary idea and theory which are wide in scope and profound in depth and have an integral system.
    In the work Kim Jong Il comprehensively clarified from a new angle the essence of nationalism that it means loving one's own nation and defending one's national interests and herein lies its progressive nature.
    When looking back on the history of the world socialist movement, the differences between nationalism and socialism produced a lot of tragedies of distrust and misunderstanding, contradiction and conflict. This problem found a perfect solution thanks to the experienced and tested leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea. The Juche-oriented idea of nationalism instills great strength and courage into the Korean people and other progressive people of the world for its originality, profundity and justice.

Reception Hosted on Anniversary of DPRK-Cuba Diplomatic Ties

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun hosted a reception Tuesday evening on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Cuba. Cuban Ambassador to the DPRK Ruben Perez Valdes and staff members of the embassy were among those present there on invitation.
    Paek Nam Sun said in his speech that over the last 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties the people of the two countries have closely supported and cooperated with each other in the joint struggle to defend socialism from the imperialists' vicious moves for aggression, interference and blockade in the Eastern and Western hemispheres of the world.
    Noting that the Cuban people have registered fresh successes in the struggle to defend socialist gains under the correct leadership of Fidel Castro Ruz, he said the Korean people would as ever send full support and solidarity to the just cause of the Cuban people.
    It is the behests of President Kim Il Sung and will of leader Kim Jong Il to invariably boost the friendly relations with Cuba, he said, adding that the Korean people would make every possible effort to expand and develop the traditional friendly and cooperative relations with Cuba in all fields in the future, too. The Cuban ambassador to the DPRK said that the friendly relations between the two countries forged by the respected Supreme Commander Fidel Castro Ruz and eternal President of the DPRK Kim Il Sung serve as an example of the friendly relations between independent countries and between progressive parties. He extended thanks to Kim Jong Il for having shown deep concern for the development of the friendly relations between the two countries.
    The prevailing situation calls for adhering to the steadfast revolutionary principle and standing against the imperialists' hypocrisy and aggression under the wise leadership of Fidel Castro Ruz and Kim Jong Il, the ambassador stressed.

Japan's Wild Ambition for Military Supremacy Assailed

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The Japan Defence Agency recently included 150 billion yen in the defence budget for 2006 for the purpose of stepping up the U.S.-Japan joint development of the missile defence system (MD). It is now actively cooperating with the U.S. in the realignment of its forces in Japan. Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary carried in this connection observes that Japan does such great favor for the U.S. in a foolish bid to establish military supremacy in the region with its help.
    Japan wishes to behave like the U.S. which, styling itself "the world's only superpower," is perpetrating aggression and war, military intervention and state terrorism against other countries in wanton violation of international law and order depending on its military superiority, the commentary notes, and goes on: Japan, however, is not in a position to behave like that right now. It is registered as an "enemy state" in the UN Charter as it was a defeated one. It has not yet shaken off this disgrace.
    Yet, Japan calculates that it can act like the U.S. after emerging a military power, backed and patronized by it, and holding military supremacy in the region. That is why Japan is so gracious in its military service to the U.S. and stints no money for arms build-up.
    Japan is posing ever-increasing military threat to the Asia-Pacific region. No one can vouch that the destructive war started by Japan in the first half of the 20th century would not reoccur in this century.
    Now is the time to heighten vigilance against Japan. It is an anachronistic delusion and a strategic error of Japan to work hard to establish military supremacy in the region and realize its ambition for reinvasion with the U.S. help.

North-Targeted War Preparations Stepped Up by S. Korea in Iraq Flailed

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The south Korean troops are busy rounding off the preparations for a war against the north under the signboard of "peace and reconstruction" after being dispatched to Iraq under the U.S. pressure. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says: The south Korean authorities' dispatch of troops to Iraq quite contrary to the interests of the nation is a crime. Worse still, the south Korean troops in Iraq are keen on acquiring "experience" for an actual war against the north. This is a grave challenge to the whole nation desirous of the peace and reunification of the country and a serious development as it increases the danger of a new war on the Korean Peninsula. The news analyst goes on:
    The south Korean authorities pretended to be reluctant in sending troops to Iraq under the pressure of the United States. But the fact proves that there was a secret promise between them and the U.S. behind the scene or they had their own calculation. Needless to say, they were an aggressive conspiracy and cooperation for a war to stifle the DPRK. Recently the south Korean belligerent forces have taken a gesture of "reconciliation" in the dialogues with the north but, upon going back, they made such perfidious military moves as agreeing with the U.S. to develop "CONPLAN 5029" for invading the north, drastically increasing the "military spending" for next year and staging south Korea-U.S. "Ulji Focus Lens-05" joint military exercises.
    All these facts go to clearly prove that the "reconciliation" and "cooperation" touted by the south Korean authorities are, in essence, no more than leverage to disarm the north and they are, in fact, conspirator and cooperator in the U.S. moves for a war against the DPRK.
    The Korean nation will never pardon such anti-national criminal acts as bringing the dark clouds of war to hang over Korea in collusion with the foreign aggressor forces but certainly force them to pay for them.

North-South Ministerial Talks Open

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The 16th north-south ministerial talks opened in Pyongyang Wednesday. Attending the talks were the delegation of the north side led by Kwon Ho Ung, senior councilor of the DPRK Cabinet, and the delegation of the south side with Minister of Unification Jong Tong Yong as chief delegate.
    The head of the north side's delegation in his main speech said that both sides should fulfill responsibilities for improving the north-south relations and promoting the cause of reunification on the basis of achievements made after the 15th north-south ministerial talks and set forth new practical proposals to do so. He proposed to the north and south authorities to take important measures to do away with all sorts of face-saving practices in the idea of "By our nation itself," among other things.
    Recalling that leader Kim Jong Il, when receiving several figures including the minister of Unification of south Korea on June 17, urged fellow countrymen to refrain from practices to save faces and do away with them in a bold manner, he stressed that this is the most just and realistic teaching reflecting the requirements of the era after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.
    The north and the south refrained from such practices at the 15th north-south ministerial talks and at the August 15 grand national festival, thus bringing about significant progress in the bilateral relations, he said.
    There still remain between the north and the south not a few face-saving practices such as negating the dialogue partner and treating it with hostility and absolutizing the differing ideologies and ideals, he noted, stressing the need to completely get rid of such outdated conception and practices, a hurdle lying in the way of improving the bilateral relations, and certainly solve the issue of recognizing and respecting each other's system in practice, drawing on the good experience already gained in practice. Then he proposed to the north and the south to unconditionally suspend all military actions through which one side threatens the other side together with foreign forces in contravention of the June 15 era.
    If the south side truly stands for the improved north-south relations and peace, it should put the wish, desire and interests of the nation above all and take a decision to rely on the strength of the nation itself, without reading other's face, he said. Then he proposed to the compatriots in the north and the south to pull down barriers obstructive to promoting the common interests of the nation and its uniform development.
    It would be difficult to remove all of them at one time, given the deep-rooted misunderstanding and mistrust between the north and the south that have lasted for more than half a century but it would be reasonable to begin with settling those problems they deem possible and essential, he said, proposing to realize this in inter-Korean economic cooperation, to begin with.
    The chief delegate of the south side in a speech said it was of historic significance that Koreans in the south and the north and abroad jointly held grand festivals in celebration of June 15 and August 15 irrespective of civilians and authorities, the first of their kind in the history of national division.
    Looking back on the day he was received by Kim Jong Il in Pyongyang last June, he noted that this instilled into the Korean nation conviction and confidence in the sustainable progress in the south-north relations and an independent solution to the national issue.
    It is necessary to make concerted efforts to put an end to the Cold War on the Korean Peninsula and build a lasting peace mechanism without delay, he said, adding that is the way of protecting the nation's dignity and consolidating the achievements made in the past five years in a more meaningful manner.
    The chief delegate and delegates of the south side set forth a series of issues to be discussed at the current talks.

Korean Dance with Long Tradition

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The Korean dance boasts of its time-honored history and a wealth of heritage. The primitive dance was a simple one reflecting the joy of the ancient people at their successful hunting and fishing. It combines gestures and rhythmic movements seen in collective labor with shouts.
    During the Neolithic era, the dance developed into a song and dance art. Most of the dances represented their experience and optimistic and diversified working life such as hunting, fishing, farming with hoe, farming with plough, live-stock breeding, weaving and earthenware-making.
    Historical records say that ancient people danced and sang songs in group at ceremonies related to the farming.
    It was called "Muchon" in Ancient Korea and "Yonggo" in Puyo. Among the dance heritage was a dance "Maekak" on hunting and war between tribes, the work which people represented dancing, wielding spears.
    During the three kingdoms (Koguryo, Paekje and Silla), foundation and historical tradition of the folk dance were established with the creation of the folk song and dance and various kinds of dances reflecting the life of people and local features. Typical of them in the period of Koguryo were "Sword Dance", "Bow Dance", "Accomplishments Dance" and "Instrumental Dance".
    Famous in the period of Koryo were "Lantern Dance" and "Tongdong Dance" and in the period of the Ri Dynasty were "Ongheya Dance", "Janggo (drum) Dance", "Peasant Dance" and "Pongsan Masked Dance".
    The Korean dance has steadily developed in reflection of social systems in different historical eras, the politico-economic life of the people and their customs. Today it is boasting of being graceful dance national in form and socialist in content thanks to the literary and art policy of the Workers' Party of Korea.

"Arirang" Goes On Before Full Audience

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The grand mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" which was premiered on August 16 is going on before full audience at the May Day Stadium in Pyongyang. A stream of working people of all walks of life in the capital and other parts of the country is coming to the stadium to appreciate the performance. Special passenger trains for "Arirang" between Pyongyang and local cities including Sinuiju, Manpho, Hyesan and Chongjin are loaded to the full capacity. The current "Arirang" fully reflects the eight beautiful sceneries in the Songun era, exploits performed in the efforts for defending and developing the country under the Songun revolutionary leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and their vitality on the principle of the reproduction of the original work and of ensuring the actuality. It is a flawless masterpiece for the combination of music, dances, gymnastics and acrobatics consistent with deep national emotions and high artistic skills, rhythmic background scenes, peculiar stage settings, electronic displays, laser lightings and other representation means and elements.

Third National Korean Wrestling Tournament for "Grand Bull Prize" Opens

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The 3rd National Korean Wrestling Tournament for "Grand Bull Prize" opened on Wednesday at the pleasure ground on the Rungna Island in the River Taedong flowing through Pyongyang to celebrate Hangawi (the lunar August 15th), a folk holiday which falls on September 18. The players selected in the provincial contests will match in team and individual events.
    The strongest man will be decided in the finals through individual preliminary events. The finals will be held on the afternoon of September 16.
    The winner will be awarded a grand bull according to the Korean traditional customs. The grand bull is expected to reach almost 900 kg on September 16, the awarding day. The winner will be given the gold bell, newly instituted gold medal and certificate along with the grand bull and those in the second and third standings respectively the silver and bronze medals, certificates and souvenirs.
    At the first day match, the 7-member provincial teams competed with one another.

Kim Jong Il Gives On-the-Spot Guidance to Kwangpho Duck Farm

     Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, gave on-the-spot guidance to the rebuilt Kwangpho Duck Farm. He was accompanied by Secretary Kim Ki Nam and Department Director Pak Nam Gi of the Central Committee of the WPK.
    He was greeted at the duck farm by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Phung Gi, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, and others. Kim Jong Il was briefed on the history of the farm, looking round the monument to the on-the-spot instructions given by President Kim Il Sung.
    Noting that the Kwangpho Duck Farm could turn into the nation's leading duck production centre under the benevolent care of the President, he stressed that the undying exploits of the President would always be remembered by the Korean people. Going round the hatching, duckling and duck breed houses, the processing shop and other places of the farm, he acquainted himself with the modernization and production on the farm. He was greatly pleased to see all the production processes put on a modern automation basis in Korean style and a high level of cultured practices in production and hygiene.

He called for thoroughly establishing a scientific system of breeding and management to increase the duck production.
    He stressed the need to actively develop duck of good stock, which grow fast while consuming less feed, and widely introduce advanced technology instrumental in putting the breeding on a scientific basis to suit the physiological characteristics of duck. Pero de hecho, se proponen desarrollar junto con EE.UU. un "plan conceptual 5029" para la agresion al norte de Corea con EE.UU. y aumentar en gran medida los "gastos de defensa nacional" para el ano proximo y desarrollar los ejercicios conjuntos surcoreanos-norteamericanos "Ulji Focus Lens-05".
    Todos los hechos demuestran que la "reconciliacion" y la "cooperacion" de que hablan tanto las autoridades surcoreanas son un camuflaje para desarmarnos y ellas son complices y colaboradores de las maniobras yanquis de guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea.
    Los coreanos no toleraran jamas tales actos criminales antinacionales de las autoridades surcoreanas que en contubernio con las fuerzas agresivas foraneas tratan de acarrear un nubarron de guerra a la tierra patria y saldaran sin falta cuenta de ello.

Siniestra intencion de Japon de tomar hegemonia military

    @Pyongyang, 14 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Hace unos dias, la Agencia de Defensa de Japon adiciono al presupuesto de defensa de 2006 150 mil millones de \ para desarrollar con EE.UU. el Sistema Antimisiles. Por otra parte, el pais-isla colabora activamente con el imperio en la reubicacion de las tropas norteamericanas estacionadas en su territorio. Detras de esta gran "generosidad" se halla una necia y siniestra intencion de Japon de tomar la hegemonia militar en la region asiatica llevando a cuestas al Tio Sam. Senala asi el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 14 y prosigue:
    Japon envidia mucho el procedimiento de EE.UU. que como la "unica superpotencia" suele violar las leyes y el orden internacionales y cometer la agresion, la guerra, la intervencion militar y el terrorismo de Estado abusando de su superioridad militar. Pero por ahora no esta en condiciones de portarse como el segundo. Es que este pais derrotado en la Segunda Guerra Mundial sigue registrado en la Carta de la ONU como "pais enemigo" y no se ha liberado todavia de esta vergonzosa etiqueta.
    Estas circunstancias hicieron que Japon pensara en recabar primero el respaldo de EE.UU. para convertirse en una potencia militar y tomar la hegemonia militar regional. Por esta razon, se hizo activo servidor a EE.UU. en el terreno militar e invierte fabulosas sumas en el aumento armamentista.
    En la region de Asia y el Pacifico crece subitamente la amenaza militar de Japon. Nadie puede asegurar que no seran reproducidas las catastroficas circunstancias belicas que trajeron los imperialistas nipones en la primera mitad del siglo 20. Ahora es cuando se debe redoblar mas que nunca la vigilancia sobre el pais isleno. Pero es irrisoria, anacronica y estrategicamente erronea la intencion de Japon de tomar la hegemonia militar en la region asiatica y tomar el camino de nueva agresion con el apoyo de EE.UU.
