Rodong Sinmun on Line of Independent Reunification
Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article stresses that the line of the Workers' Party of Korea to achieve independent reunification of the country is consistent and steadfast.
When President Kim Il Sung met the delegates of the south side who came here to participate in the high-level political talks between the north and the south of Korea in May Juche 61 (1972), he put forth the three principles of national reunification the main content of which is to achieve national reunification independently without reliance on the foreign forces or free from foreign interference. And he set forth a proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo at the historic 6th Congress of the WPK in October Juche 69 (1980).
The WPK's line of independent reunification has been invariably maintained along with the firm inheritance of the leadership, the article says, and goes on:
Leader Kim Jong Il in his famous work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" solemnly clarified his iron will to carry forward the noble intention of the President to accomplish the cause of independent reunification at any cost. His firm will is reflected in the June 15 joint declaration that the north and the south shall achieve national reunification independently by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation itself.
The Korean nation is vigorously struggling to defend the joint declaration and put it into practice and pioneering a history of national reconciliation and unity, peace and reunification, pushing aside the vicious obstructive moves of the anti-reunification forces, true to the noble idea and lofty intention of Kim Jong Il who provided the great declaration of independent reunification reflecting the requirements of the times and the desire of the nation.
The leadership of the WPK upholding the great banner of independent reunification constitutes the main motive force of developing inter-Korean relations and reunification movement and firmly guarantees the accomplishment of the cause of national reunification.

New Kind of Sterilizer Developed in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- The Academy of Sciences of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has recently developed a new kind of nano-sterilizer for industrial use.
It is popular in the public health and foodstuff industry including the Ministry of Public Health, State Sanitary Inspection Office, Academy of Medical Science, Central Sanitary and Anti-Epidemic Center and Kim Man Yu Hospital.
It kills bacteria in water, drinking water, injection and other liquid materials in a state of flowing with the help of the strong sterilizing feature of the nano photo-catalyst materials.
This is the fifth generation sterilizing method, which does not use any electric heat, steam and chemical agents.
The apparatus can preserve taste, color, odor and other properties of the sterilized liquid and completely kill bacteria in the badly polluted water.
The nano-sterilizer, far smaller than other sterilizing apparatuses, is capable of sterilizing 500 liters per hour.
The developer is manufacturing nano-sterilizers for home use with a capacity to sterilize 50-70 liters per hour with this technology. Its electricity consumption per hour is 100 watt.
Historical Movie-like Background of "Arirang"
Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- Many people say in an excited tone after appreciating the mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang": "The background reminds the audience of a film on historical theme", "it mesmerizes the audience", "the largest-scale background was created in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and "whoever wishes to enjoy the background beyond imagination, come to the DPRK, please."
"Arirang", a flawless masterpiece in the new century, presents the largest background of its kind in history.
The graceful background, put on a scientific basis, is large-sized, rhythmical, three-dimensional and symbolic.
The reproduced background, participated in by nearly 20,000 schoolchildren, depicts over 150 pieces of words and pictures, some 30 more than those of the original work, clearly representing the "Arirang nation" in the past and at present.
Spectacular is the background when they form such words as "the Strong Army Defending the Leader with Their Very Lives" and "the Army Strong in Faith and Will" against a picture of soldiers of the three services and when they flash such words as one and the same blood, language and custom against two children carrying the two letters "Hana" (one and the same).
The background includes ever-changing scenes, which demand a high standard of technology.
In particular, the waving water in the Taegak Dam in the scene 3 and eggs being hatched in the scene 4 of the act 2 are all rhythmic and three-dimensional.
Fascinating, indeed, is the background, a combination of the illumination by use of fluorescent colored papers, laser, electronic apparatuses and other depiction means.
