Repeal of Bill on Overseas Dispatch of Troops Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The People's Action against the Troop Dispatch in south Korea reportedly held a press conference near the building of the "National Assembly" on Oct. 13 to denounce the authorities' moves to railroad the "bill on peace-keeping activities" through the NA. A press release read out at the press conference recalled that 34 lawmakers from ruling and opposition parties submitted to the Unification, Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee of the NA on Sept. 2 the bill on dispatching overseas the south Korean troops without any approval of the NA under the pretext of rapidly meeting the UN's request for troop dispatch. The press release branded this bill as a dangerous one aimed at reducing the south Korean troops to units serving the U.S. troops dispatched overseas, going beyond the framework of peace-keeping activities.
    It continued:
The authorities sent troops to the U.S. unjust war of aggression against Iraq under the pretext of the "UN's request" and agreed with the U.S. to define "peace-keeping activities and emergency rescue from disaster" as new duties stipulated in the south Korea-U.S. "alliance." These facts prove that the bill is aimed at legally backing the increasing role of the U.S. troops in south Korea according to the U.S. strategy for dominating the world. If the authorities are to genuinely contribute to the international community, they should immediately repeal the unconstitutional bill and take a substantial action for peace.

History books beautifying the Japanese history of aggression quite contrary to the mission of education to implant the spirit of peace in the people and the spirit of the foundation charter of the UNESCO are still included in the curriculums of education for rising generations in Japan which inflicted war holocaust on humankind in the past, which touches off a serious apprehension among the Asian countries, he said, and continued: The reality requires to enhance the function and role of the UNESCO whose mission is to provide the intellectual foundation of peace and equality through international cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture.

He said that the U.S. has persistently pursued unreasonable pressure and unprecedented economic blockade for more than a half century from the sense of rejection of the system of the DPRK, which laid big obstacles in the universal development of the country including educational, scientific and cultural fields.

They also reflected the WPK's unshakable faith and will to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche that started in the forests of Mt. Paektu under the uplifted banner of the red flag associated with the whole life of the President.
The single-minded unity of the Korean people has reached the present highest level because they acclaimed the President as their leader and the proud feature and might of their unity would be unthinkable without this great national fortune and glory.
The October festival was also a manifestation of the single-minded unity of the servicepersons and people of the DPRK around the headquarters of the revolution.
Labor achievements contributed to the anniversary such as the Taean Friendship Glass Factory, the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway, the Dam of the Nyongwon Power Station, the Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station and proud achievements made on all fronts for building a great prosperous powerful nation fully reflected their unshakable faith that they would certainly emerge victorious as long as they are under the leadership of Kim Jong Il and the revolutionary stamina that they are ready to go through thick and thin and make anything regarded impossible possible true to his intention and determination.

Rodong Sinmun on Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- No matter how hard the outside forces may work to check the movement of the Korean nation for independent reunification, they can never stop the Korean nation from advancing in the idea of "By our nation itself", says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The might of unity which the Korean nation is cementing in every way is an invincible might guaranteeing a victory in the cause of national reunification, the article says, and goes on:
National reunification is the unanimous desire of all the fellow countrymen and the law-governing requirement of national development. As long as the outsiders' moves against reunification continue, the Korean nation's cause of reunification can never be smooth. The idea of "By our nation itself" helps the Korean nation aspiring after peace and reunification pool their efforts against the aggressive outsiders and promote its unity on a nation-wide scale and encourages the cause of national reunification with the might of its great unity to advance victoriously. The idea helps members of the nation have feelings of love for the country and the nation.
The united power of the nation rallied in the idea of "By our nation itself" is the might of the driving force and patriotism which guarantees a victory of independent reunification.
The historic June 15 joint declaration provided the Korean nation with the idea of "By our nation itself", a powerful ideological and mental weapon for accomplishing the cause of national reunification. All the fellow countrymen at home and abroad have since conducted a vigorous movement for reunification on the basis of the idea of "By our nation itself" and in this process the might of the idea has been fully demonstrated. Though the outsiders are running amuck to obliterate the cause of national reunification, the Korean nation advancing under the banner of "By our nation itself" will always emerge victorious.

Traitorous Diatribe of Dong-A Ilbo Blasted

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland Wednesday issued information bulletin No. 908 vehemently denouncing the south Korean Dong-A Ilbo for its traitorous diatribe. It said:
An editorial of the paper dated Oct. 15 found fault with the south Korean Uri Party's proposal for exchange between the ruling parties of the south and the north. It asserted that "there was concern about the possibility to stir up ideological disarmament in the south Korean society" and "it was an appeasement policy toward the north stepped up under the slogan of independence and by our nation itself." It went the lengths of labeling the north "a principal enemy" and attacking the north, branding the Workers' Party of Korea as "an enemy-benefiting organization under the existing law". What the newspaper said in its editorial was an unpardonable provocation to the north and a blatant challenge to the desire and wishes of the Koreans for national reconciliation and unity, peace and reunification of the country.
This was nothing but the last resort of the pro-U.S. conservative forces opposed to reunification to chill the desire for achieving independent reunification through alliance with the north which has become a trend of the times in south Korea and divert it in a bid to prevent their foundation from collapsing. The information bulletin recalled that this newspaper has long thrown a stumbling block in the way of the progressive development of the south Korean society and the improvement of the inter-Korean relations by slandering the dignified political system in the north and decrying the movement of the south Korean people for independence, democracy and reunification.
It continued: Though five years have passed since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, Dong-A Ilbo remains unchanged in its treacherous behavior of advocating sycophancy and treachery and confrontation with compatriots. It would be well advised to drop its old habit of inciting inter-Korean confrontation.

Then he watched an art performance given by its servicepersons.
