WPK Anniversary Observed in Different Countries

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- Celebration meetings, lectures, round-table talks, book and photo exhibitions and film shows took place in Russia, France, Hungary, Laos, Poland, Uganda, the Czech Republic, Democratic Congo, Brazil and Ecuador from Sept. 26 to Oct. 10 on the occasion of the 60th birth anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kriulin, vice-chairman of the Presidium of the "Peace and Today" Committee, at a film show and a book and photo exhibition held in Russia noted that Korea has achieved brilliant successes thanks to the outstanding Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il who is successfully carrying forward the revolutionary cause of President Kim Il Sung.
    The international secretary of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Communist League of France said in his speech at a celebration meeting that it is the most prominent exploit in the history of the revolutionary struggle of the working class that Kim Jong Il defeated the extreme offensive of the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces and defended socialism with his Songun politics.
    Juzef Lachut, vice-chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Polish Communist Party, stressed at a meeting that the Korean people are stepping up the building of a great prosperous powerful nation with optimism and confidence in victory of socialism thanks to the unique Songun politics of Kim Jong Il.
    Seminars on his works "The Workers' Party of Korea Is the Party of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" and "The Workers' Party of Korea Organizes and Guides All the Victories of Our People" were held in Guinea, Mexico, Ethiopia and Thailand from Oct. 4 to 8. Congratulatory messages to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings held in Hungary, Poland and Guinea.

Mass Gymnastic Display Held in South Phyongan Province

     Phyongsong, October 20 (KCNA) -- A mass gymnastic display "The General and South Phyongan Province" was performed in the newly built Phyongsong Stadium Wednesday. It was appreciated by Chief Secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK Ri Thae Nam, Chairman of the South Phyongan Provincial People's Committee Kim Jong Thae, leading officials of the party and power bodies and working people's organizations in the province and Phyongsong city and its working people. The mass gymnastic display having a prelude, three scenes and a final was produced by officials and other working people and school youth and children in the province on the occasion of the 60th birthday of the WPK, prompted by their unanimous desire to convey to posterity the immortal revolutionary exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il while guiding the work in the province. The work makes an extensive and profound representation of the great leadership, noble virtues and deep loving care of the two leaders who clearly indicated the ways for the province to follow and wisely led it to bring about epoch-making changes.
    It was acclaimed by the spectators for having impressively depicted the road of development covered by the province under the experienced and tested leadership of the peerlessly great men through such scenes as gymnastics with clubs and torches, children's gymnastics, gymnastics with flags and ever-changing background.

Solidarity Federation for Part-time Workers Unions Inaugurated in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- The "National Solidarity Federation of Part-time Workers Unions" was reportedly inaugurated with due ceremony in Seoul on Oct. 16. Speakers at the ceremony said that the federation should function as an organization uniting the part-time workers irrespective of region, type of job and form of employment and struggling to ensure the three rights to labor.
    They declared that as an immediate task they would launch a vigorous campaign for the adoption of a legislation on part-time jobs, united around the organization.
    The federation released at a press conference a five-point proposal including the total repeal of the "bill on time work" and "law on dispatching workers" and the guarantee of basic rights to labor for the part-timers such as the three rights to labor.

Part-time Workers Demand Legitimate Right in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions reportedly held a rally to achieve legislation of the right of part-time workers in Seoul on Oct. 16. Participating in the rally were more than 8,000 workers under the confederation and representatives of civic and social organizations including the People's Solidarity.
    Ri Su Ho, chairman of the confederation, and Tan Pyong Ho, national assemblyman from the Democratic Workers' Party, in their speeches called upon all the organizations to unite to win victory, saying that a bill on ensuring the right of part-time workers should be worked out at any cost to settle the issue of part-time jobs.
    The issue of part-time jobs cannot be settled by checking only, they said, holding that they should achieve the legislation carrying their demands. After the rally, the participants marched through streets.

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea has covered a long path replete with victory and glory, enjoying the absolute trust of the people over the last six decades. It is entirely thanks to the ideology and theory on building a revolutionary party expounded by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in their famous works. Their famous works have been published in "Complete Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works", "Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works", "Collection of Kim Il Sung's Selected Works", "Collection of Kim Jong Il's Selected Works" and other collections of works. Among them are more than 1,000 works elucidating the revolutionary ideologies and theories on party-building in a scientific way.
    They are encyclopedic works giving perfect answers to all theoretical and practical questions arising in party building and activities in the era of independence on the basis of the great Juche Idea.
    First of all, they expound the WPK is the Juche-oriented revolutionary Party guided by the immortal Juche Idea. Many works including "Historical Experience of Building the Workers' Party of Korea" and "On the Fundamentals of Revolutionary Party Building" define the character and fighting goal of the Party and the principle and basic direction of its building and activities and give clear-cut answers to the theoretical and practical issues arising in the party building and activities.
    It is the main ideology running through the works that the monolithic ideological system should be established and a unity and cohesion around leader achieved in the party.

Message of Sympathy to Russian President

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Thursday sent a message of sympathy to V. V. Putin, president of the Russian Federation, in connection with big casualties caused by a reckless attack of armed bandits in Nalchik, capital of the Kabardino-Balkariya Republic. The message vehemently denounced the extreme action as a base terrorism to destroy the internal stability of Russia including North Caucasus. The message sincerely wished the president, the government and the people of Russia successes in the work to achieve the territorial integrity and social stability of the country.

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun met and had a talk with Friedrich Ludwig Loehr, new German ambassador e. p. to the DPRK, on Oct. 20 when the latter paid a courtesy call on him.

Delegations Leave for Russia and China

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the DPRK Ministry of Forestry led by its Vice-Minister Ri Jin Son left here Thursday for Russia to participate in the 8th meeting of the Sub-Committee of Forestry of the Inter-Governmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy and Science and Technology between the DPRK and Russia. A delegation of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland led by Director of its Secretariat Kim Wan Su left here today to visit China.

KAPPC on Case of Hyundai Group in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee Thursday released a statement in connection with the fact that Hyundai Group of south Korea recently divested Kim Yun Gyu, chief director and vice-president of Hyundai Asan who has been a key player in the undertakings for economic cooperation with the north, of all his posts on charge of his alleged "involvement in a scandal," triggering off public furor. The statement said the case is a serious matter as it adversely affects not only the relations between Hyundai and the north but overall north-south economic cooperation, adding that yet Hyundai Group side totally dismissed Kim Yun Gyu from his office, inviting strong criticism of the public at home and abroad.
    The statement cited facts to prove that the north takes issue with the case of Hyundai because it sets store by the desire of south Koreans to tour Mt. Kumgang and wishes to remain true to the confidence between the north and Hyundai and the strong sense of obligation towards the predecessors of Hyundai Group.
    It went on:
    There is now no one known to us from Hyundai Group as it has no longer Kim Yun Gyu, who had taken the places of Jong Ju Yong and Jong Mong Hon after their deaths.
    Hyundai is no longer what used to be as it retains no original appearance.
    Hyundai Group side claims that its removal of Kim from his office was "a measure taken under unavoidable circumstances," but this is nothing but deception and hypocrisy of the coldhearted guys who have gone against the nation's desire and reneged on the bilateral good faith and sense of obligation. It is something surprising that the ties of cooperation between the KAPPC and Hyundai based on good faith and sense of obligation have broken up overnight due to a few elements who know nothing about the meaning and peculiarity of the north-south cooperation.
    Now that Hyundai is no longer what used to be and has backpedaled its earlier good faith, there arises doubt as to whether it would function as a counterpart in the cooperation with the north as it did in the past. This, therefore, compels the north to comprehensively examine all undertakings with Hyundai and readjust them.
    As for the issue of tour of Kaesong high on the agenda at the moment, we are not in a position to continue cooperation with Hyundai over this issue and, therefore, compelled to pursue consultation for it with other institutions.
    The "seven-point agreement on cooperation " which the Hyundai side concluded with the KAPPC side in August, 2000 is premised on going through the relevant legal procedures and getting approval by the authorities of both sides and it allows necessary modification, supplementation and re-consultation. As the signatory party is no longer available, there is no reason for us to remain bound to the agreement.
    This abnormal thing that happened in the relations between the KAPPC and Hyundai is entirely attributable to the Hyundai side's improper behavior. Hyundai's unreasonable action seriously marred the significance of the north-south economic cooperation and laid a stumbling block in the way of the cooperation expected to make a fresh leap forward.
    Hyundai should be held fully responsible for the present situation and all the consequences to be entailed by its ingratitude and indiscreet behavior. The GNP should drop its bad habit of viewing others from its own viewpoint.
    There is still a prospect and a way out for Hyundai.
    It is our view that if the current situation was created by the higher body of Hyundai against its will, it must feel sorry for it and deeply repent of it. If they break with those parasitic high-flyers and take a right path, we will become so generous as to pave a wide avenue for south Koreans' tour of Mt. Kumgang.
    It is our hope that the present higher body of Hyundai will face up to the desire of the nation and the trend of the times and choose a right path.

Gift to Kim Jong Il from New Mexico State Governor

     Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by Bill Richardson, governor of New Mexico State of the United States, on a visit to the DPRK. En el lugar le acogieron las jefas de la subunidad.
    Tras enterarse del estado de cumplimiento del deber de la unidad vio un entrenamiento de las militares.
    Acto seguido recorrio la sala de leccion militar, la sala de educacion, el dormitorio, el comedor, la cocina, el bano, el deposito de alimentos subsidiarios, etc. para enterarse de la labor y vida de las militares y vio una funcion de piezas artisticas preparada por ellas.
    A traves de diversas piezas, entre otras, la poesia y coro "Hacia la anorada estrella General allende nubes", el coro "Cancion de agradecimiento", la cancion y danza "Felicidad en el regazo del estimado Dirigente", el coro "El pueblo vivira eternamente en su regazo", el solo y coro "El cielo azul de mi pais", el coro "Donde esta el querido General", las uniformadas demostraron bien su ferrea conviccion y voluntad y una faceta de su digna vida de servicio militar. El Comandante Supremo se fotografio junto a las uniformadas de la subunidad.

CRPP condena el comportamiento antinacional de Tonga Ilbo

    @Pyongyang, 20 de octubre (ATCC) -- El secretariado del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria (CRPP) emitio el dia 19 la informacion no. 908 para denunciar categoricamente el acto criminal antinacional del rotativo surcoreano Tonga Ilbo. En un "editorial" publicado en su edicion del dia 15 este periodico acuso perversamente la iniciativa del surcoreano Partido Uri sobre el "intercambio entre los partidos en poder del Sur y del Norte" argumentando que esta "puede instigar el desarme ideologico de la sociedad surcoreana" y es una "medida de flexibilidad con respecto al Norte de Corea" que se toma imprudentemente bajo la consigna de " y ", precisa el texto y prosigue:
    De mal en peor, califico al Partido del Trabajo de Corea de "una entidad pro-enemiga segun la ley vigente" y censuro el Norte de Corea tildandolo del "enemigo principal".
    Estas peroraciones del Tonga Ilbo devienen una provocacion insoportable al Norte de Corea y un reto frontal a la demanda y la aspiracion de la nacion coreana a la reconciliacion y la unidad nacionales, a la paz y la reunificacion del pais.
    Ademas, no pasan de ser los esfuerzos desesperados de las fuerzas conservadoras pro-yanquis para detener la tendencia general de la reunificacion independiente en alianza con el Norte, revertir la corriente de la epoca y no perder su terreno.
    Con anterioridad, este cotidiano vino insultando el digno sistema politico del Norte y el movimiento de los habitantes surcoreanos por la independencia, la democracia y la reunificacion. De esta forma, puso grandes escollos a la corriente progresista de la sociedad surcoreana y al mejoramiento de relaciones intercoreanas.
    Ya han transcurrido 5 anos desde la publicacion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, pero no hubo ningun cambio en el caracter antinacional de Tonga Ilbo.
    Seria conveniente que este periodico abandone la caduca concepcion de la confrontacion con sus coterraneos.
