DPRK Delegate Refers to Peaceful Use of Space

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea will positively promote the cooperation and exchange with the international community including the UN and different countries of the world and develop the independent space science and technology in the field of peaceful use of the space. A DPRK delegate said this in his speech during the discussion on the agenda item "The international cooperation in the peaceful use of the space" at the meeting of the 4th committee of the 60th UN General Assembly on Oct. 19.
He noted that the space should not become someone's monopoly, adding that if the universe is to become a peaceful one conducive to promoting the welfare of humankind it is important to reject the monopolistic practices in the space development and enable all countries to freely participate in it on an equal footing.
    He went on:
The successes achieved in the space development should be shared for the well-being of all countries and peoples. It is necessary to categorically reject any attempt to disturb and control the developing countries' activities for the space development and monopolize the space in a bid to retain a technological edge. It is also necessary to stand firm against any attempt to militarize the space if it is to become a peaceful one conducive to the well-being of mankind. The DPRK assails all moves to turn the space into a military base and battle site against the sovereign states and calls for building an international legal mechanism for preventing the space militarization as early as possible, he asserted.

Solidarity Meeting Held in Bangladesh

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A meeting supporting the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo (DFRK) was held in Dhaka on Oct. 20 under the co-sponsorship of the Left Democratic Front of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship Association. Speakers including Kamal Hyder, general secretary of the Bangladesh Peace Council, said at the meeting that 25 years ago from now President Kim Il Sung, on the basis of a scientific insight into the political situation at home and abroad, set forth the proposal for founding the DFRK, a proposal making it possible to achieve Korea's reunification most reasonably. The proposal is an offer for reunification fundamentally different from the proposals made by some other countries in the last period and reflects the will of all Koreans in the north and the south to achieve the reunification of Korea in the idea of "By our nation itself," they noted, adding that the world peace-loving people positively support the proposal as the most realistic and just one.
They stressed that the Bangladeshi progressives would invariably support the Korean people in their just cause to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea according to the proposal.
A joint statement adopted at the meeting denounced the reckless moves of the U.S. imperialists and the forces subservient to them to block the reunification of the Korean Peninsula and strongly demanded the U.S. dismantle its military bases for aggression in south Korea at once. At the end of the meeting its participants watched Korean film "The Concrete Wall, Symbol of National Division."

Milcho Gyuvrov, vice-chairman of the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association, and Vasilka Nikiforova, chief of the Kim Il Sung Library in Sofia, said that the organizational and ideological basis for party founding was laid under the wise leadership of Kim Il Sung and since its foundation the WPK has creditably performed its mission and role as a guiding force of the Korean people.
Erich Zavadil, general secretary of the Society for the Promotion of the Relations between Austria and the DPRK, said that the DPRK has dynamically pushed forward the building of a great prosperous powerful nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, weathering out all trials that resulted from the political and military pressure and economic sanctions of the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces and repeated natural disasters. Victor Granda, chairman of the Socialist Party of Ecuador, noted:
The foundation of the WPK brought a decisive turn in carving out the destiny of the Korean people. The 60 year-long history of the WPK is precisely the history of the tireless revolutionary activities of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. That's why the history of the WPK is shining as a glorious one as it has performed great exploits in the course of traversing a most right and unique path.
Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings held in Bulgaria and Austria.

Agreement of S. Korea-U.S. Security Consultative Council Meeting Assailed

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration reportedly made public a statement titled "We denounce an agreement of the south Korea-U.S annual security consultative council meeting denying the joint statement of the six-party talks" on Oct. 22. The statement referred to the fact that it was agreed at the 37th security consultative council meeting that the U.S. would sustain the provision of "nuclear umbrella" to south Korea and keep the U.S. forces and the UNC stationed. This is a dangerous agreement wholly denying the joint statement of the six-party talks which confirmed that the U.S. has no intention to attack and invade the north with nuclear or conventional weapons, the statement said, and continued:
At the council meeting it was also agreed to reaffirm that the "successful completion of the transfer of the U.S. military bases in south Korea is a cornerstone of future south Korea-U.S. alliance" and the strategic flexibility of the U.S. forces is of sustained importance. It is a humiliating and subordinate war agreement which further strengthens the south Korea-U.S. alliance and harms peace in the Korean Peninsula. With the joint statement of the six-party talks the U.S. troops have lost any justification for their presence in this land. The U.S. should take a substantial measure for building a permanent peace system in the Korean Peninsula.
The government authorities should not follow the U.S. war moves, bound to the south Korea-U.S. alliance, a war alliance, but take the road of national cooperation for peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

Dong-A Ilbo Urged to Stop False Propaganda

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) issued a statement on Oct. 20 in which it termed Dong-A Ilbo a pro-Japanese and pro-U.S. reptile paper and demanded the disorganization of this conservative group. Accusing the newspaper of kicking up a row to slander the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) and Pomchonghakryon, legitimate bodies, after releasing misinformation that Pomminryon is the Workers' Party of Korea's vanguard organization in charge of south Korean affairs, the statement said: As far as these organizations are concerned, they have headquarters in the south, the north and overseas and strive for the great national unity and they are pro-reunification and patriotic movement organizations whose ultimate goals are to implement the June 15 joint declaration.
The statement urged the paper to face up to the trend of the times toward independent and peaceful reunification in the June 15 era, the spirit of the times, and stop its venomous rhetoric.

Withdrawal of U.S. Troops from S. Korea Urged

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- It is essential for ensuring security on the Korean Peninsula to drive the U.S. troops out of south Korea. Minju Joson Thursday says this in a signed commentary refuting the accusation made against the DPRK at the 37th meeting of the "security consultative council" held between south Korea and the U.S. in Seoul.
    It goes on:
By pulling up others, while keeping mum about their arms build-up the United States and the south Korean authorities seek a sinister aim. This diatribe is aimed at misleading the public opinion with the fifth six-party talks just around the corner in a bid to impair the international dignity of the DPRK, pressurize it and invent a pretext for starting a war of aggression against it.
Solutions to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, the issue of security and the issue of Korea's reunification depend on the settlement of the fundamental issue, ie the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea.
The actions of the Korean nation and other people of the world for the pullback of the U.S. troops from south Korea will mount higher as long as the United States and the south Korean authorities turn their faces away from the fundamental issue of guaranteeing peace on the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. would be well advised to drop its unrealizable ambition to seize the DPRK by force of arms and take a bold decision to pull all its armed forces out of south Korea as early as possible.
The south Korean authorities should urge the United States to drop its policy of aggression against the north and withdraw from south Korea its forces, the cancer-like existence disturbing peace and the movement for reunification as unanimously demanded by the Korean nation. They should bear in mind that their talk about "self-reliant national defence," dodging the issue of the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea, is a criminal act little short of deceiving and insulting the fellow countrymen all out in the grand march for independent reunification under the banner of "By our nation itself".
