Japan's Massacre of Koreans Flailed

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- Massacre of Koreans committed by Japan during its occupation of Korea in the first half of the last century was a hideous crime against humanity unprecedented in the history of aggression and an organized and premeditated massacre aimed to exterminate the Korean nation, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article. Japan committed premeditated cruel massacre of Koreans during the whole period of its occupation of Korea to exterminate the Korean nation in a bid to attain its criminal purpose to make Korea a prefecture of Japan. It was the fundamental policy and basic mode of the Japanese imperialists' rule of Korea to kill as many Koreans as possible, the article says, and goes on:
Not a single day has passed without Koreans' shedding blood during Japan's 40-odd-year long occupation of Korea.
The Japanese imperialists cruelly killed Koreans everywhere they went.
They announced the "three-point policy" calling for killing all Korans, setting fire on everything and looting everything and killed Koreans indiscriminately in a bid to exterminate the Koreans.
During the Kanto quake of 1923 the Japanese imperialists set in motion police and vigilante corps in an organized manner and ruthlessly massacred more than 23,000 innocent Koreans.
They forcibly walked away or drafted at least 8.4 million young and middle-aged Koreans and forced them into slave labor, abducted, kidnapped or forcibly walked away 200,000 Korean women to reduce them into sexual slaves for the "Imperial Japanese Army" in a madcap attempt to totally exterminate the Korean nation.
Due to their monstrous barbarity more than one million Koreans met cruel death.
Japan's massacre of Koreans was a crime against humanity in gross violation of the universally recognized international law and wartime law and regulations.
The crime can neither be erased nor lessened with the lapse of time and the statute of limitations cannot be applied to it.
The Korean people keep tabs on the past crimes of Japan.
They will certainly force Japan to pay dearly for them.

Building of Nuclear-free World Called for

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea will as ever make every possible effort to make the world free from nuclear weapons. The DPRK delegate said this at the plenary session of the 60th U.N. General Assembly on Dec. 8.
The DPRK delegation holds that what is basic in disarmament should be nuclear disarmament and it should be dismantlement of nuclear weapons, he said, expressing concern over the U.S. and its allies' insisting only on non-proliferation while disregarding nuclear disarmament. For non-proliferation it is necessary to remove its root cause, he said, noting that it is high time for all the nuclear states to take effective steps for complete dismantlement of nuclear weapons.
He called for signing a binding international agreement on non-use of nukes as early as possible so as to remove the danger of the use of nukes by nuclear states, which is concerned by non-nuclear states.

GNP's Misinformation under Fire

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the People's Movement for Revising the Law on Private Schools consisting of 45 civic and public organizations of south Korea including the Citizens' Federation for Economic Justice, the "National Teachers Union" (Jongyojo) and the Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society held a press conference in Seoul on Dec. 14 at which they strongly urged the Grand National Party to stop spreading misinformation about the revised bill on private schools and Jongyojo, south Korean KBS reported. The organization condemned the GNP for resorting to a false propaganda with groundless "theory of color" while branding the bill as one to instill anti-U.S., pro-north idea into the hearts of people.
It held that the GNP stop such false propaganda at once and respond to an open debate with civic and public organizations.

U.S. Ambassador's Remarks Flayed

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations issued statements denouncing the U.S. ambassador in Seoul for taking issue with economic cooperation by the Korean nation itself, while slandering the north as a "criminal state" and a "state posing major military threat". The Headquarters of the south Korean People's Movement for Reviving South-North Economic Cooperation in a statement on Dec. 13 said that south-north economic cooperation is to lay a foundation for peace and an important work for peaceful vital rights as it is civilian-level exchange, it said, noting that it is imprudent to talk about "theory on caution" and the like.
This fully revealed that it is the U.S. that defiled the spirit of the joint statement of the fourth round of the six-party talks as it ignored even the elementary condition of negotiations that dialogue partner should be respected, the statement added.
The Reunification Solidarity for the Implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and Peace on the Korean Peninsula in a statement on Dec. 14 said that the remarks of the U.S. ambassador were serious because they were prompted by the planned action of the U.S. administration. It denounced the U.S. for totally negating the basic spirit of the joint statement of the fourth round of the six-party talks and resorting to unilateral hostile acts against the north including financial sanctions and "human rights" offensive behind the scene of dialogue.
It is unpardonable to imprudently interfere in the south-north economic cooperation, an internal affair of the Korean nation, the statement said, strongly demanding the "government" authorities expel at once the U.S. ambassador who was oblivious of his duty.

Members of Human Rights Organizations Launch Sit-in Strike

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- Members of south Korean human rights organizations including the Solidarity for Peace and Human Rights, the Society for Human Rights Movement and the Dasan Human Rights Centre reportedly occupied the "security section room" in Namyong-dong, Seoul on Dec. 15 and staged a sit-in strike. They held that policemen concerned and riot police who cracked down on a meeting of farmers on Nov. 15 should be sternly punished, the usual training of violent repression by the mobile corps of the Seoul Police Office be opened to the public and be dissolved at once, the head of the office should make clear the fabrication and cover-up of the murder case of farmer Jon Yong Chol and resign and those responsible for the murder should be judicially punished. They strongly demanded the "government" authorities nullify the "bill on rice negotiations", a starting point of the current developments, and take fundamental measures to revive agriculture.

Pro-American Sycophantic Act Flailed

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- Recently the south Korean pro-American ultra-right conservative forces are seeking to erect in Taegu a statue of Walker who was notorious for his bestial killing of Koreans as commander of the 8th U.S. Army occupying south Korea during the past Korean war and died a dog's death by the Korean People's Army. A spokesman for the North Side's Headquarters of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind the GIs' Massacres in a statement on Dec. 17 said that the pro-American conservative forces are working hard to build the statue of Walker in Taegu at a time when the patriotic movement is going on in south Korea to remove the statue of McArthur in Inchon. This is a despicable pro-American sycophantic act and a vicious challenge to the aspiration of the south Korean people to decisively break with the principal criminals of aggression, the spokesman said, and went on: Walker was a heinous murderer, war maniac and special-class war criminal who brutally killed millions of Koreans during the Korean war. Nevertheless, the pro-American conservative forces including the Grand National Party are running amuck to erect the statue of Walker, turning their back on the grievance of all the fellow countrymen. This is aimed to revive the departed soul of a ringleader of the aggression troops to turn this land into a slaughter-place of Yankees and it is an anti-national move to unleash the second Korean war.
No matter how desperately the pro-American conservative forces may try in south Korea, they cannot arrest the vigorous trend of the June 15 era toward national reconciliation, unity and reunification.
The people from all walks of life in south Korea should shatter the moves of the pro-American sycophantic traitors and bring the aggressors and murderers to justice instead of erecting the statue of Walker, the sworn enemy of the Korean nation, and turn out in an undaunted struggle to destroy their ugly plastics, though belatedly.

"UN Forces Command" Lambasted

Kaesong, December 17 (KCNA) -- The participants in the third conference of youth and students organizations of the north and the south to implement the June 15 joint declaration issued a statement during the conference to denounce the U.S. forces with the signboard of the "UN Forces Command" for blocking the entrance of two members of the Anti-U.S. Youth Society among representatives of the south side coming to Kaesong to participate in the conference. The current behavior of the "UN Forces Command" is an anti-reunification act of throwing a wet blanket over the advance of the Korean nation toward reconciliation and cooperation, peace and reunification as it has been unprecedented since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the statement said, and went on:
Moreover, the "UN Forces Command's" nonpermission of their visit to Kaesong which was approved by the south side's government cannot be construed otherwise than an intention not to respect the independent judgment of the Korean nation but to obstruct its unity and hold sway over its issue at random. The United States, which styles itself a "model" of democracy, raising a hue and cry over the "human rights issue" of the north, is taking issue with the name of the organization, which is the height of contradiction.
The statement strongly denounced the current behavior of the "UN Forces Command" as an unjust outrage against the Korean nation. It strongly demanded the "UN Forces Command" make a responsible apology for it and prevent its recurrence.
It warned that the "UN Forces Command" should stop acting rashly, bearing in mind that the nationwide struggle of the youth and students in the north and the south will make its existence difficult in case such thing takes place again.

He acquainted himself with the performance of the sub-unit's duty before watching the training of the servicepersons in the training lecture room. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the commanding officers and soldiers of the sub-unit have grown to be a-match-for-a hundred fighters through the training put on a scientific and normal basis and set forth tasks to be fulfilled to further increase the combat power of the sub-unit.     He was much pleased with the fact that an affluent dietary life has been provided for the soldiers and said that the proud success is ascribable to the strenuous efforts of its commanding officers and soldiers.
While looking round educational materials on display at the education room, he said TV programs and publications are of weighty importance in education of the servicepersons, stressing the need to publish and distribute a larger number of President Kim Il Sung's reminiscences, "Reminiscences of the Anti-Japanese Guerrillas," "Among the People" and other books and produce a large quantities of TV programs suitable to the features of the servicepersons.
He said every unit he inspected is abundantly using quality non-stable foodstuffs provided through the efforts to do well sideline farming, adding that it is very good in improving the dietary life as well as helping soldiers adopt a correct attitude toward labor.
He gave its servicepersons a pair of binoculars and a machine gun as gifts and had a photo session with them.
He was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, First Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Ri Jae Il and Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Hwang Pyong So.

The ceremony elected leading members of the branch.
The vice-director of a Polish hospital said at the ceremony that Poland and the DPRK have a long-standing tradition of friendship and solidarity. He went on:
The Polish people who helped the Korean people both materially and morally during the last Korean war are still today extending positive support to the Korean people in their just cause to reunify the country divided by foreign forces.
It is of very great significance to inaugurate the Gdynia branch of the Poland-Korea Association, a body for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people, at a time when the world attention is focused on the Korean people in their struggle for peace, stability and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
The Korean people have made leaping advances in all fields under the uplifted banner of socialism along the path chosen by themselves despite the persistent economic sanctions and moves of the imperialists to isolate and stifle the DPRK. The credit for this entirely goes to Kim Jong Il who has wisely led the struggle to defend peace and sovereignty of the country and build a great prosperous powerful nation with his original Songun politics. He noted that the branch would conduct activities in various forms and methods to strengthen solidarity with the Korean people and positively support the cause of Korea's reunification and study and disseminate the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il.

U.S. Ambassador's Outcries under Fire in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils reportedly issued a statement on Dec. 10 to denounce the U.S. ambassador in Seoul for letting loose outcries. This move of the U.S. is the revelation of its sinister intention to get rid of the situation turning more unfavorable for its political and diplomatic stand-off with the north and a political operation to rally all the conservative forces in this land in a bid to revive a "regime" of pro-U.S. ultra-right forces, the statement said.
Recalling that at a seminar on Dec. 7 the U.S. ambassador let loose a string of balderdash that the "north is a criminal regime", the statement termed this a very dangerous criminal act to incite confrontation between fellow countrymen and thus spoil the atmosphere of reconciliation, cooperation and reunification prevailing on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. ambassador should bear in mind that with nothing can the U.S. block the dynamic advance of the Korean nation toward independence, reunification and progress and he will face a stern judgment should he repeat such balderdash, the statement warned.

Immediate Repatriation of Unconverted Long-term Prisoners Called for

Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- South Korean religionists of Christianity, Buddhism, Round Buddhism and Catholics reportedly held a press conference at the Jogye Temple in Seoul on Dec. 12 at which they demanded the authorities repatriate unconverted long-term prisoners immediately. They denounced the rightist elements, at the instigation of the Grand National Party of south Korea and the conservative media, for destroying the tombstones of unconverted long-term prisoners and defiling the boxes of remains on Dec. 5.
The current desecration is another tragedy caused by the national division and can never be pardoned in light of morality and ethics, they said, calling for checking such vandalism with the strength of the masses so that it should not be committed any longer.
The repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners cannot be postponed any longer, they said, stressing that the "Ministry of Unification" should strive for an early repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners remaining in south Korea.

Anti-U.S. Solidarity Rally Held in Seoul

Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- The 75th anti-U.S. solidarity rally was reportedly held at the park of citizens of Kwanghwamun in Seoul on Dec. 13. A manifesto titled "Let's turn out as one in the struggle against forcible evacuation for expansion of U.S. military base" was published at the rally. Recalling that the "Central Committee for Land Expropriation" set Dec. 22 as the day for the start of forcible evacuation of people from the land in Phyongthaek despite the opposition of farmers, it said that this is little short of a declaration that the authorities will confiscate the land of the farmers in Phyongthaek by every conceivable means and offer it to the U.S.
The struggle against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek and forcible evacuation is a patriotic struggle to protect the Korean cultural heritage and the land of life and peace, a struggle to defend national independence and peace in protest against the aggressive readjustment of the "south Korea-U.S. alliance" and the plan for relocating the U.S. forces in south Korea and a just struggle for world peace, the manifesto said, and went on: No honeyed words and appeasement can check the struggle of the inhabitants.
Do not forget the urgent appeal of the inhabitants in Phyongthaek for not depriving farmers of their land and defending the land, their life. Let all of us pool our strength in the just struggle of the inhabitants in Phyongthaek. Let's develop with success the third grand peace march slated for Feb. 12 next year into the all-people struggle to foil the aggressive readjustment of the "south Korea-U.S. alliance" and the plan for the relocation of the U.S. forces in south Korea.
Let's put an end to the submissive history in which the U.S. has dominated our destiny and make a new history of independence and peace.

Greetings to Kazak President

S. Korean Pro-American Ultra-right Conservative Forces' Anti-North Smear Campaign Flailed

Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- The smear campaign on the "human rights issue in the north" conducted by the south Korean ultra-right conservative forces at the instigation of the United States is a part of the war moves against the north and, accordingly, the anti-communist fanatics including the "Grand National Party" cannot evade their responsibility as the principal criminal of igniting a war. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this in an answer to a question put by KCNA on Friday in connection with the fact that the south Korean pro-American elements including the GNP recently held an "international meeting on the human rights issue in the north" in Seoul.
    He said:
The current anti-north smear campaign conducted by the south Korean pro-American ultra-right conservative forces including the GNP at the expense of the U.S. government budget is no more than a funeral of the living dead who have a long innings, denounced and forsaken in south Korea. As to the human rights issue, it rests with the U.S. and the south Korean pro-American conservative forces including the GNP. The GNP, a group of the remnants of the fascist dictatorship and their descendants, is now dead set against the abolition of the "National Security Law" and other anti-human rights fascist evil laws. It is so brazen-faced to run amuck to restore the old system under which its predecessors wielded the club of fascism against the people.
Moreover, it is ridiculous that those who keep mum about the human rights abuses of the U.S. imperialist aggression troops who did physical and mental harm to the south Korean people for 60 years of their occupation of south Korea are foolishly talking about the "human rights issue in the north". The U.S. has long resorted to shameless smear campaigns over the "human rights issue" before invading other countries and nations. The provokers and fanatics of confrontation will get nothing but disgrace and death.

Second, both sides shared the understanding that it is necessary to rapidly push forward the second-phase development of the Kaesong Industrial Zone and such projects as arrangements for transit, custom clearance, telecommunication and trial operation of railways on the eastern and western coasts and decided to discuss and settle the issues related to them through the North-South Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation.
    5. The north and the south agreed to positively push ahead with the humanitarian work on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
