Police Authorities Assailed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Members of the "all-people measure committee for radically restoring agriculture and denouncing the murder of farmer Jon Yong Chol" and other civic and public organizations of south Korea reportedly held a press conference in Seoul on Dec. 15 and condemned the police authorities for scheming to hide the murder case of farmer Jon Yong Chol. Mun Kyong Sik, chairman of the south Korean Federation of Peasants Associations, Kwon O Hyon, chairman of the Society for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience under the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, Kim Un Jin, member of the Emergency Measure Committee of the Democratic Workers' Party, and other speakers held that it is a deceptive behavior lack of truthfulness that the police authorities punished the chief of the first riot squad of the Seoul District Police Office only though they admitted their responsibility for the violent action.
A press release was read out at the press conference.
It said it is not understandable that the police authorities expressed "regret" more than 20 days after policemen beat the farmer to death in broad daylight and concealed and fabricated the truth behind the incident.
It stressed that the present "government" should directly apologize for the murder case, dismiss the chief of the police office and arrest and punish the person responsible for the murder.

Withdrawal of U.S. Hostile Policy toward DPRK Demanded

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Voices condemning the reckless remarks made by the U.S. ambassador in Seoul are reportedly heard from various circles in south Korea. The Reunification Solidarity, the People's Solidarity and the Buddhists' Solidarity for Peace held a press conference in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on Dec. 16 at which the organizations accused the U.S. ambassador of openly uttering from the moment he arrived at this land that his experience would help bring about a change in north Korea, a clear indication that his job was to mastermind a political operation aimed at "bringing down the system in the north."
His reckless remarks were prompted by the U.S. stratagem to scrap the joint statement adopted at the 4th round of the six-party talks and provoke a war on the Korean Peninsula, they charged, demanding the U.S. recall its ambassador home and immediately roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK. That day, the Anti-U.S. Women's Society in its statement titled "We denounce the reckless remarks of Bush and the U.S. ambassador" noted that the endless string of reckless remarks made by Bush and the U.S. ambassador cannot be construed otherwise than the present attitude of the U.S. administration pursuing a one-sided high-handed policy towards the north.
The Buddhists' Solidarity for Peace in a statement branded the U.S. as a real criminal state, calling for launching an all-people movement to expel the U.S. ambassador from south Korea.

Seminar Held to Mark Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's Famous Work

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- A seminar in the field of social sciences was held on Dec. 20 to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of President Kim Il Sung's famous work "On Eliminating Dogmatism and Formalism and Establishing Juche in Ideological Work." The President in his work published on December 28, Juche 44 (1955), clarified that Juche in the ideological work means the Korean revolution and, therefore, the ideological work of the Workers' Party of Korea should be oriented to meet the interests of the Korean revolution and put forward the important tasks to be implemented to establish Juche.
Song Kuk Nam, vice-president of the Academy of Social Sciences, Dr. and Associate Prof. Kim Chun Gun, a dean of Kim Il Sung University, and other speakers said that the work serves as an immortal one as it put the struggle for establishing Juche on a new higher stage by bringing about a new turning point in the struggle to eliminate flunkeyism and dogmatism and establish Juche and clarifying with lucidity Juche in the ideological work. They noted that the President made a bold decision to eradicate the flunkeyism, dogmatism and formalism which had a serious harmful impact on the struggle of the Korean people and the ideological work of the Party for building foundations of socialism at that time in view of the historical background and conditions of the Korean revolution.
The work is an important document as it declared breaking with the factionalists and modern revisionists, who advocated flunkeyism, dogmatism and formalism, and proclaimed the start of the Party's struggle to establish Juche in all spheres, they noted, and went on:
The President's idea of eliminating dogmatism and formalism and establishing Juche in the ideological work has been successfully carried forward under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il to demonstrate its ever greater validity and vitality.
Present at the seminar were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Thae Hyong Chol, president of the Academy of Social Sciences, officials concerned and officials, teachers, researchers and lecturers in the field of science, education and the fields for the preservation of revolutionary sites and cultural relics.

Japan's Black-hearted Intention Assailed

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- A working group of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan recently decided to push ahead with the examination of the issue of working out a "bill on speedy application of economic sanctions" against the DPRK and a "bill on the human rights issue in north Korea". Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:
Ultra-right conservatives of Japan already made desperate efforts to impose sanctions upon the DPRK, clamoring for "restrictions against north Korea in import and export" and the "prohibition of port calls by north Korean ships". This, however, proved futile. By nature, Japan's subservience to the U.S. is well known to the world. The LDP ultra-right conservatives' much touted economic sanctions against the DPRK and "human rights issue" are prompted by their black-hearted intention to please the U.S. conservative hardliners and draw water to their mill, backed by them.
The six-party talks are now deadlocked due to the obstructive moves of the U.S. conservative hardliners. The U.S. is imposing financial sanctions upon the DPRK on the one hand and working hard to build up international public opinion through its "human rights" racket on the other in a bid to pressurize and stifle the DPRK.
The Japanese ultra-right conservative forces are dancing to the tune of the U.S., their master, bent on its anti-DPRK campaign, as if they had been waiting for the opportunity.
It is the height of folly for the Japanese reactionaries to seek to isolate and stifle the DPRK and dodge the liquidation of Japan's past through the economic sanctions and the "human rights" row.
These moves are nothing but a base attempt to scuttle the DPRK-Japan talks which began to go ahead with much effort and stoke the atmosphere of confrontation with the DPRK.
The ultra-right conservatives of Japan had better bear in mind that the confrontation with the DPRK is by no means a simple game.

Rodong Sinmun on Defending Independence

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- When all the countries and nations defend independence and respect it with each other in international relations, the relations of equality, cooperation, reciprocity and non-interference in internal affairs will be formed and developed among the countries and the nations, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The principle of defending and respecting independence is the basic foundation of the development of fair international relations, the article says, and goes on:
The principle makes it possible to realize the essential demand of the countries and the nations.
In order to establish and develop fair international relations, it is imperative to have the common and fundamental principle of helping defend and realize the interests and demands of all the countries and the nations. This is the principle of defending and respecting independence.
This principle is an important guarantee for fairly settling international issues in keeping with the interests and demands of all the countries and the nations.
An attempt to reject and stamp out the idea, way of life and system of other countries and nations as they go against the grain is a wanton violation of independence. The U.S.-led imperialists should never be allowed to plunge the order of international relations into a big chaos while reversing them as they please in disregard of the norms and order which should be observed between countries.
All the countries and nations should participate in the settlement of international issues with equal qualification and rights and refrain from forcing their unjust will upon others or blindly following others' wrong isms. All the countries and the nations should establish and develop friendly and cooperative relations on the principle of equality and mutual respect.
To defend and respect independence is the right and duty of all the countries and the nations and a common task to establish and develop fair international relations.

Basis to Identify Bird Flu Viruses Established in DPRK

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Branch Academy of Cell and Gene Engineering under the State Academy of Sciences of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have found out the basis to rapidly and correctly identify any types of bird flu viruses. When bird influenza broke out in some chicken farms in the spring this year, they confirmed in a matter of ten days that the type of the virus was A (H7N7). They, basing themselves on this research success, have deepened the research work to put the nation-wide bird flu prevention campaign on a scientific basis.
Ho Kwang Chun, director of the branch academy, told KCNA that scientists designed primer for analyzing genes of M, HA and NA and solved scientific and technical problems arising in correctly identifying types of sub-species from H1 to H15 and from N1 to N9 in reliance upon the biology engineering technology (RT-PCR).

First Literary Works Depicting Leader in Korea

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The works depicting the leader, which constitutes the main current of the modern literary and art works of Korea, has a long tradition. They originated from hymn literature and legends of Mt. Paektu.
The first song eulogizing President Kim Il Sung is the revolutionary paean "Star of Korea" written and composed by revolutionary poet Kim Hyok in Juche 17 (1928), the early days of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.
The song reflects the unanimous will of the young revolutionaries of new generation and people to have Kim Il Sung in his teens as the center of the unity and cohesion and the leader of the nation.
The song also mirrors the ardent reverence of the Korean people for the President brightly illuminating the road of the Korean revolution like the morning star in the dark sky over Korea and their will to invariably remain true to his leadership and to lead a happy life in liberated country. The Korean people created and handed down a lot of oral stories on President Kim Il Sung who stroke terror into the aggressors and instilled the confidence in victory in the minds of the people with his protean tactics and lofty virtues during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. The legends of Mt. Paektu, based on the oral stories, show how ardent the respect of the people for him was.
The literature portraying the leader entered a new phase of development with the creation of the immortal revolutionary paean "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and the long epic "Mt. Paektu" after national liberation as an occasion.
The drama "Thunder" (1946) and feature film "Flames Spreading over the Land" (1977) are the first artistic works depicting the leader. They impressively show the great personality of the President, who is the peerless patriot, national hero and invincible and iron-willed commander. The first art works depicting the leader are his statue at Mangyongdae Revolutionary School (1948), the oil painting Torch of Pochonbo (1948) and the grand monumental edifice Monument to the Victorious Pochonbo Battle (1967).
The immortal revolutionary paean "Song of General Kim Jong Il" is typical of works carrying the high praise and boundless reverence of the Korean people and world progressives for leader Kim Jong Il.

Letter to Kim Jong Il from Lecturer of KPA Unit 153

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a letter on Dec. 19 from Kim Yong Ok, a lecturer of the room for the education of servicepersons through trees bearing slogans at the navy unit 153 of the Korean People's Army, who got burnt while sacrificingly protecting slogan-bearing trees on Mujae Hill a few years ago. She returned home after being given medical treatment in a foreign country thanks to the benevolent solicitude of Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il personally met Kim Yong Ok during his field inspection on Dec. 10, 2004. Seeing the scar of a burn on her face and hands, he took a benevolent step for restoring her face and hands at a best hospital of the world.
Therefore, lecturers and curators Kim Yong Ok, Kim Kwan Bin and Kim Jung Gol were given medical treatment at an orthopedic hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Science for nearly one year.
Recalling the unforgettable days when she felt the warm loving care of Kim Jong Il, she presented a letter to him who had her restored as a most beautiful flower in the Songun era at the expense of much money.
    She said in the letter:
Seeing us being hospitalized at the highest class room for nearly one year with payment of a fabulous medical fee under the peculiar expectation and concern of the country, even doctors, who had treated only rich men of different countries at the world's famous orthopedic hospital, repeatedly asked me that they were really a daughter and sons of workers and farmers and families of servicepersons. I loudly answered that I am a daughter of Kim Jong Il. I told doctors and foreigners that I had given up marriage after getting burn as a girl, that the whole country gave me medical treatment and helped me get married to a navy officer and that Kim Jong Il told officials to send me to the most famous hospital in the world to restore my face and hands. Deeply moved to hear me, they said that Kim Jong Il is best in the world, socialism of Korea is best and you are his daughter living in blessings. When I told them that Kim Jong Il is the sun in the sky and the future of Korea under the shining sun is always rosy and bright, they stood up to clap, shouting "Kim Jong Il-Sun!" and "Sun-Kim Jong Il!"
When I returned home, people were deeply moved to see my beautiful looks. I have been restored and have come to go forth into the world proudly as told by Kim Jong Il.
It is my genuine feeling to repay his loving care as early as possible.
In the letter she expressed her firm determination to convey to all the people and servicepersons the legendary story of love shown by Kim Jong Il to her as a wife of an officer and make her debut on the stage of the 9th contest of art groups of families of servicepersons to loudly sing of the infinite happiness of being a member of families of his servicepersons.
