Joint New Year Editorial Issued

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Papers here today carry "Make a higher leap full of great ambition and confidence", a joint editorial issued by Rodong Sinmun, the official organ of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, Josoninmingun and Chongnyonjonwi on the occasion of the New Year Juche 95 (2006). The joint editorial says: .
    Last year Juche 94 (2005) was a year of fruitful efforts and a year of great creation and change replete with epochal events and outstanding feats in the history of our Party and the nation.
    Last year we splendidly celebrated the 60th anniversaries of the Party and the country's liberation as a great festival of victors in the Songun revolution and fully demonstrated the political and ideological might of our revolutionary ranks. .
    The grandiose military parade and other celebration events and the mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" were the epical scenes showing the solidness of single-minded unity, the might of the People's Army and the dignity of our nation. .
    Fresh progress was made in agricultural production by concentrating and mobilizing nationwide efforts in farming. The Taean Friendship Glass Factory, the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway and other structures of lasting value in the Songun era were built in all parts of the country and a large number of projects of great importance in the economic construction and the improvement of the people's living standard were reconstructed or updated. We resolutely foiled the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle the country by maintaining a tougher stance and firmly defended our ideology, system and cause. The proud victory and achievements made in memorable last year are the brilliant fruition of leader Kim Jong Il's outstanding Songun revolutionary leadership. .
    New Year Juche 95 (2006) is a year of general offensive that will make a great leap forward in the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation on the basis of the proud victory and achievements in the Songun revolution. .
    "Make another leap forward in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation on the strength of Songun!"--this is the militant slogan that we have to hold high..
    This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union formed by President Kim Il Sung. .
    The DIU's 80th anniversary will be an important occasion to show the faith and will of the army and people to add glory to the great feats performed by the President who made the history and tradition of being ever-victorious under the banner of the Juche idea and complete the cause of socialism solidly united around the leadership of the revolution. .
    To give fullest play to the superiority of Korean-style socialism in political, military, economic, cultural and all other fields by putting spurs to the general advance of the Songun revolution once again--this is the general fighting task for us at the present stage. .
    We must fully display the might of the political and ideological position of Korean-style socialism. .
    The unshakeable creed and the revolutionary mettle of our people who regard socialism as the lifeblood should be demonstrated to the full. It is necessary to have transparent anti-U.S. class awareness and consolidate the working-class position of socialism as an iron wall and eternally glorify the gains of revolution defended in a do-or-die spirit on the road of Songun. .
    It is necessary to prepare all the Party members and the working people into staunch revolutionary fighters who are thoroughly equipped with the Songun philosophy and the Songun revolutionary line of our Party and who have acquired the revolutionary soldier spirit as their lifeblood by decisively strengthening education in the Juche idea and the Songun idea. .
    We must strengthen the military might of Korean-style socialism in every way. .
    Ours is invincible socialism with a strong military foundation and national defence is the most important matter in building a great prosperous powerful nation. Whatever situation is, the principled stand of our Party and state to give top priority to the military remains unchanged. The People's Army is the core of the self-reliant defence capability and the pillar of socialism. .
    The People's Army must become the first adherents to the Songun idea and must be the first to defend and implement Songun politics. All the servicepersons should become fighters of Ri Su Bok and Kang Ho Yong-type in the era of Songun who readily dedicate their precious lives to the fight for the only motherland in the staunch spirit of defending socialism and ardent patriotism. .
    They should be in perfect combat preparedness to destroy the aggressors at a stroke if the enemy troops invade an inch of the airspace, land and waters of our country. .
    The habit of attaching importance to the military affairs should be thoroughly established throughout the society. Top priority should be given to ensuring everything necessary for the national defence industry as required by the line of economic construction in the Songun era. The proud traits of Songun Korea that the people assist the army and vice versa should be brought into fuller bloom. .
    A radical turn should be brought about in socialist economic construction and the improvement of the people's living standard. It is the intention of the Party and our fighting objective to revitalize all the economic sectors and get the people to benefit virtually from our economic foundations in the near future. .
    We should confidently build an economic power in the 21st century through a high-pitched drive for effecting a great Songun revolutionary surge just as we brought about the great Chollima upswing in hearty response to the decision of the December plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee 50 years ago to advance toward a socialist power. .
    Agriculture should be put forward as the main front of the economic construction this year, too, and all the forces be mobilized and concentrated on farming once again. .
    The whole country must turn out as one in the agricultural front true to the vital instructions of President Kim Il Sung who said that "Rice means socialism". Labour forces, equipment and materials needed in the agricultural sector should be provided preferentially without any reservation. It is important to buckle down to a job in a revolutionary way as the People's Army does so as to make fresh progress in implementing the Party's policies of bringing about innovations in seed production, potato and soya bean cultivation and two-crop-a-year farming. .
    The officials and other working people in the field of agriculture should do the farm work tenaciously as befitting the master responsible for the nation's rice supply while all helpers should sincerely assist the countryside just as they did last year. .
    Workers in the power industry should ease the shortage of electricity, fully conscious of the heavy responsibility they have assumed in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation. Nationwide efforts should be put into the coal industry and efforts be concentrated on major coal mines with rich deposits and favourable mining conditions so as to boost coal output. The metal industry should positively apply the Juche-oriented steel production method and bring about a turn in the production of iron and steel. The railway transport sector should organize and manage transportation scrupulously and in a revolutionary manner and establish strict discipline and order like in the army so as to satisfy the growing demands for transport. All the sectors of the national economy such as the mining, machine-building, chemical and building-materials industries and forestry should first solve basic problems while consolidating material and technological foundations to effect a fresh upsurge in production. .
    Light industry should positively update production processes to turn out quality consumer goods en masse. All the people should turn out in land and environment conservation to turn our country into a socialist land of beautiful scenery which is good to live in. .
    All the sectors and units of the national economy should push ahead with modernization work audaciously and in a big and innovative way, proceeding from the standpoint that they start anew by setting the work as an important economic strategy. It is needed to speed up updating on the principle of self-reliance and in such a way as to give priority to the projects that are of weighty importance and profitable and complete them one by one. It is necessary to establish a well-regulated system and order whereby economic work is left to the Cabinet and it is handled under its uniform command. The guiding officials in the economic field should have scientific management and business strategies to ensure profitability and plan and command the economic work in a responsible manner on their own initiative. .
    It is one of the major targets in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation to develop socialist culture in the Songun era by boldly bringing about innovation in all fields of cultural construction. .
    The joint editorial refers to the tasks facing the fields of education, science and technology, public health and literature and art. It goes on: The young people should exalt infinitely the idea of youth movement and achievements of President Kim Il Sung and display greater stamina of the young vanguard who builds the future of the Songun cause in this significant year of the 60th anniversary of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League. The key to sure victory lies in steadily maintaining the socialist principles. .
    It is the steadfast stand of our Party that all work should be done in a creative and innovative manner as required by the developing reality and, at the same time there should be not the slightest deviation in observing the revolutionary principle. It is necessary to continue to strictly abide by the revolutionary principles maintained by us with all consistency including the issue of ensuring the Party's unitary leadership and the state's uniform guidance. .
    All the problems arising in the economic management and social life should be solved strictly in line with the collectivist nature of socialism. All the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and abroad should more vigorously push the cause of national reunification that has entered a new phase. .
    "Let us vigorously forward the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity under the banner of 'by our nation itself!' --this is the slogan to be held up in this year's movement for national reunification. .
    We should solve all the problems arising in accomplishing the cause of reunification by placing the dignity and interests of the nation above anything else in line with requirements of the idea of "by our nation itself." The spirit of giving top priority to the nation and the nation-first manner should prevail and the hurricane of independent reunification should sweep everywhere Koreans live. The grand celebration of June 15, the day of the publication of the North-South Joint Declaration, as the "day of by our nation itself" should be made a tradition. .
    All the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad must resolutely reject the U.S. intervention and domination with inter-Korean cooperation and must never tolerate treacherous acts of anti-reunification forces who are conspiring with foreign forces. .
    We should launch a dynamic campaign against war and for peace. .
    The entire nation should firmly defend peace and security on the Korean Peninsula by turning out in the struggle to resolutely foil the U.S. attempt to launch another war. We must remove the root cause of war completely from this land by launching a nationwide campaign for driving out the U.S. troops. An atmosphere of promoting national reconciliation and unity should be heightened continuously and solidarity be promoted further between reunification-oriented organizations. .
    The pro-U.S. conservatives in south Korea are now making last-ditch efforts to reverse the era of June 15 reunification to that of confrontation in the past and achieve their ambition for power. The people from all walks of life in south Korea should destroy the tie-up and challenge of "neo-conservatives" by dint of great alliance of progressives and push the group of traitors to final ruin. .
    This year all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should wage a vigorous struggle with the basic tasks of the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and overall national unity, thus demonstrating once again the might of the Koreans who are closely united under the banner of the June 15 Joint Declaration and setting up a new milestone in the cause of national reunification. The cause of our revolution is the cause of justice and invincibility for successfully shaping the destiny of the motherland and the nation and realizing global independence. Floral Baskets before Statues of Kim Il Sung

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were laid before statues of President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the New Year Juche 95 (2006). Servicepersons, working people from all walks of life, school youth and children in Pyongyang, visited the statue of the President on Mansu Hill. Seen there was a floral basket from Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army. .
    Amid the playing of floral basket-laying music baskets of flowers as well as bouquets and flowers were placed in the name of the Party, armed forces and power organs, public organizations, ministries, national institutions and KPA units and organs and enterprises at all levels, factories, farms and schools in Pyongyang. .
    Written on the ribbons of the floral baskets were such letters as "The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung is immortal", "The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung will always be with us." and "The great revolutionary exploits of the respected leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung will be immortal!" Floral baskets were placed before statues of the President in different parts of Pyongyang including Kim Il Sung University, Kim Il Sung Military University, the Ministry of People's Security, the Korean Film Studio and the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace. Servicepersons, people and school youth and children across the country, too, laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers before the statues of the President in their residential quarters and paid tribute to him. .
    The consul general and the members of the Chinese Consulate General in Chongjin laid a floral basket before the statue of the President in Chongjin.

Homage to Kim Il Sung on New Year

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Senior cadres of the Party, the army and the state today visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace to pay homage to President Kim Il Sung on the New Year Juche 95 (2006). Kim Yong Nam, Jo Myong Rok, Pak Pong Ju and other officials, members of the Cabinet, leading officials of party, armed forces and power organs, public organizations, ministries and national institutions entered into the hall where the statue of Kim Il Sung is standing. .
    A floral basket was laid before the statue in the joint name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the National Defence Commission, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK.     They entered into the hall where Kim Il Sung lies in state and made bows to him. .
    They went round with deep emotion orders, medals and certificates of honorary titles awarded to Kim Il Sung in Korea and foreign countries, a portrait of the smiling President and bronze relievos in the mourning hall, the train he used during his on-the-spot guidance and visits to foreign countries and the car he used in the last period of his life. The palace was also visited by anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, officials of ministries and national institutions, officers and men of the People's Army and working people from all walks of life.
    And the diplomatic corps and the military attaches' corps here and the secretary general of the International Institute of the Juche Idea and his party visited the palace to pay homage to the President.

Prize and Certificate Presented to Kim Jong Il

Gifts to Kim Jong Il from Russians

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with gifts by the head of the State Academic Moiseyev Dance Company and the head of the Beryozka Dancing Troupe of Russia on the occasion of the New Year. They were conveyed to the DPRK ambassador to Russia by their heads Elena Scherbakova and Mira Koltsova on Dec. 29. Meanwhile, Kim Jong Il was also presented with a gift by V.V. Karpov, former first secretary of the Central Committee of the Writers' Union of the Soviet Union.

Kim Yong Nam Sends Letter to Chairman of Chongryon CSC

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a letter to So Man Sul, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), on the occasion of the New Year, Juche 95 (2006). Congratulatory Message to Kim Jong Il from Chongryon

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il today received a congratulatory message from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on the occasion of the New Year. Last year which witnessed the display of fireworks celebrating the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and liberation of Korea was a year of proud victory in which a great turn was effected in the drive to accomplish the cause of Juche and the cause of building a great prosperous powerful nation, the message says, and goes on:

New Year Stamp Issued

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- The Korea Stamp Corporation has issued a stamp in celebration of the New Year, Juche 95 (2006). The stamp figures majestic peaks around Lake Chon of Mt. Paektu against the beautiful sky aglow with the rising sun on the morning of the New Year's Day. Among them is the peak inscribed with leader Kim Jong Il’s autograph “Mt. Paektu, holy mountain of the revolution”. The stamp also shows rhododendron opening flowers and various kinds of plants growing at the foot of the peak. Printed in the stamp are words “Juche 95 (2006)” in the upper part and “A Happy New Year” in the lower part. Its face value is 3 won.

     Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received gifts from Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Chairwoman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia S. Z. U.S. Hit for Inciting Confrontation with DPRK

     Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- The United States is chiefly to blame for inciting confrontation with the DPRK and blocking the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article dealing with the six-party talks for the settlement of the nuclear issue in the peninsula which has attracted the attention of the international community this year. A dark shadow cast on the six-party talks is entirely attributable to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK, the article says, and goes on: If the U.S. had stopped putting pressure on the DPRK and honestly approached the dialogue with it as unanimously demanded by public opinion at home and abroad, an epochal occasion could have been marked in realizing the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
    The U.S. has driven the situation to the brink of war while intensifying military moves seriously getting on the nerves of the DPRK in and around south Korea all the year round.
    This year, in particular, the U.S. has resorted to ill-boding military moves to modify its military strategy in the direction of depending on latest weapons under the pretext of coping with the "possibility of military conflicts with north Korea". It persisted in forcing the DPRK to "abandon its nuclear program first" while putting aside its principled stand and demand. At the first round of the fourth six-party talks the U.S. demanded the DPRK totally abandon nuclear weapons as well as all the nuclear activities including the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
    The wild ambition of the U.S. imperialists to stifle Korean-style socialism centered on the popular masses, the life and cradle of the Korean people, by force of arms and dominate the whole of Korea reached the extremes this year.
    The U.S. ruling forces have made desperate efforts to stifle the socialist system of the DPRK from early days of their assumption of office. They have become all the more pronounced in their moves for "human rights" offensive against the DPRK, appointing a "special envoy in charge of human rights issue in north Korea" this year in the wake of the adoption of the "North Korean Human Rights Act" last year.
    The perfidy of the U.S. to the DPRK, a dialogue partner, was fully exposed in escalating sanctions and pressure on it.
    If the U.S. continues pursuing its hostile policy to stifle the DPRK as it did this year, the nuclear issue would never be settled and, accordingly, denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula would be impossible.

Kim Jong Il Sends Greetings to Fidel Castro Ruz

     Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, and Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Fidel Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, president of the Council of State and president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, today on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Cuban revolution. The message said that the fraternal Cuban people resolutely smashed the persistent sanctions and blockade and the moves of the U.S. imperialists to isolate and stifle Cuba and honorably defended the country's sovereignty and made a big stride forward in education, public health, economic development and improvement of the people's living standard under his correct guidance over the last 47 years after the victory of the revolution. The message noted that the Korean people are always sincerely rejoiced over all the successes the Cuban people achieved in the revolution and construction as over their own and will send full support and solidarity to the just cause of the Cuban people to defend the sovereignty of their country and the gains of the revolution.
    Expressing the belief that the traditional and comradely relations of friendship and cooperation between the two parties, the two governments and the two peoples would ceaselessly develop in the common struggle for socialism against imperialism, the message wished Fidel Castro Ruz and the Cuban people fresh and greater successes in their work.

     Pyongyang, el primero de enero (ATCC) -- Todos los periodicos capitalinos insertaron en sus respectivas ediciones del dia primero el editorial conjunto del Ano Nuevo 95 (2006) de la Era Juche de los rotativos Rodong Sinmun, organo del CC del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Josoninmingun y Chongnyonjonwi intitulado "Demos un salto mas alto, llenos de gran esperanza y conviccion El editorial conjunto senala que el 94 (2005) de la era Juche ha sido un ano de dignas luchas, de grandiosas creaciones y transformaciones, decorado con acontecimientos y proezas emocionantes que quedaran escritos con letras especiales en la historia de nuestro Partido y nuestra Patria, y prosigue: En el ano que acabamos de despedir hemos festejado con solemnidad como un gran festival de triunfadores de la revolucion del Songun el sexagesimo aniversario de la fundacion del Partido y de la liberacion de la Patria, y hemos manifestado elocuentemente el poderio ideo-politico de nuestras filas revolucionarias.
    La majestuosa parada militar y otros actos festivos, asi como la gran representacion gimnastica y artistica "Arirang" han dado cuadros epicos que demuestran con claridad la solidez de nuestra unidad monolitica, el poderio de nuestro Ejercito Popular y la dignidad de nuestra nacion. Todo el pais, puesto en pie, ha concentrado y movilizado toda su fuerza para la agricultura y marcado asi un nuevo avance en su produccion. Se han levantado en muchos lugares creaciones monumentales de la epoca del Songun, entre otras la Fabrica de Vidrio Amistad de Taean y el canal Paekma-Cholsan, y reconstruido y modernizado numerosos objetivos de gran importancia en la construccion economica y la mejora del bienestar del pueblo. Con nuestra actitud superdura hemos frustrado categoricamente las tentativas del imperialismo yanqui encaminadas a aislarla y asfixiarla y salvaguardado asi con firmeza nuestra ideologia, nuestro regimen y nuestra causa.
    Las orgullosas victorias y exitos alcanzados en el significativo ano pasado son brillantes frutos de la sin igual orientacion revolucionaria del Songun del grana camarada Kim Jong Il, subraya el editorial conjunto.
    El nuevo ano 95 (2006) de la era Juche es el de una ofensiva general para dar otro gran salto en la construccion de una gran potencia socialista prospera sobre la base de esas victorias y exitos de la revolucion del Songun, senala y continua:
    　"!Demos con el poderio del Songun un nuevo salto en la edificacion de una gran potencia socialista prospera!", esta es la consigna combativa que hemos de mantener en alto.
    　Este ano coincide con el aniversario 80 de la fundacion de la Union para Derrotar al Imperialismo por el gran Lider, camarada Kim Il Sung. Esta efemeride nos servira de una oportunidad de profunda significacion para hacer brillar las inmortales hazanas del gran Lider, que creo una historia y tradicion de la victoria invencible bajo la bandera de la idea Juche y demostrar la conviccion y la voluntad de nuestro Ejercito y pueblo de llevar a cabo hasta fin la causa socialista, unidos monoliticamente en torno a la Direccion de la revolucion.
    　La tarea combativa general que encaramos hoy es dar nuevos acicates a la marcha general de la revolucion del Songun y poner asi en pleno juego la superioridad de nuestro socialismo en las esferas politica, militar, economica y cultural, dice y prosigue:
    　Tenemos que demostrar sin reserva lo potentes que son las posiciones ideo-politicas de nuestro socialismo.
    　Es menester poner en pleno juego el inconmovible credo y el temple revolucionario de nuestro pueblo que considera el socialismo como su propia vida y existencia.
    　Se debe fortificar como un muro de acero la trinchera clasista del socialismo con una firme conciencia clasista antiyanqui y conservar eternamente las conquistas de la revolucion que hemos defendido a riesgo de vida en el camino del Songun.
    　Hay que intensificar decisivamente la educacion en la idea Juche y en la del Songun, de modo que todos los militantes del Partido y trabajadores sean preparados como firmes combatientes pertrechados a cabalidad con la filosofia del Songun, con la linea revolucionaria del Songun de nuestro Partido y que tengan encarnado el espiritu revolucionario del militar.
    Hay que consolidar por todos los medios el poderio militar de nuestro socialismo.
    El Ejercito Popular es el nucleo de las fuerzas autodefensivas del pais y el pilar del socialismo.
    El Ejercito Popular debe ser el primero en apoyar la idea del Songun y en defender y ejecutar la politica de Songun. Siempre se mantendra en estado de movilizacion plena para aniquilar de un golpe a los agresores que se atreven a invadir aunque sea un pedacito de nuestro territorio, cielo y mar.
    Hay que establecer mas plenamente el ambiente de conceder importancia a los asuntos militares en toda la sociedad. Hace falta asegurar con maxima prioridad todo lo necesario para la industria belica de acuerdo con la linea de construccion economica especifica para nuestra epoca del Songun. Es preciso demostrar el orgulloso aspecto de Corea del Songun donde el pueblo ayuda al ejercito y viceversa.
    Debemos producir un viraje decisivo en la edificacion de la economia socialista y en la vida del pueblo.
    Lograr dentro de pocos anos que la economia nacional en su conjunto tenga una prosperidad que asegure beneficios reales a la poblacion, esto es el proposito del partido y nuestro objetivo de lucha.
    Hay que levantar una potencia economica paradigmatica con la antorcha del gran auge revolucionario del Songun en alto, al igual que hace ahora 50 anos, edificamos una potencia socialista al producir el gran ascenso de Chollima en acato a la resolucion aprobada en la sesion plenaria de diciembre del Comite Central del Partido.
    Este ano tambien la agricultura sera el frente de prioridad en la construccion economica y todas las fuerzas se concentraran en ese sector. Todos deben movilizarse como un solo hombre para ayudar a esa rama en respuesta del lema-guia del gran Lider: "El cereal es precisamente el socialismo". Se le destinara primero, cueste lo que cueste, la mano de obra, los equipos y materiales que ella necesita. Con alto sentido de conciencia revolucionaria que caracteriza al Ejercito Popular, alcanzaran avances en la materializacion de las orientaciones del Partido de mejorar las variedades agricolas, producir una revolucion en el cultivo de papas y promover dos cosechas anuales y la produccion de soya.
    Los directivos y trabajadores del sector agricola deben labrar hacendosamente la tierra como responsables de llenar el granero del pais y todos los ayudantes han de respaldar activamente al campo como el ano pasado.
    A los trabajadores de la industria electrica les corresponde el deber de resolver el deficit de energia electrica, que es su responsabilidad de peso en la construccion de la gran potencia prospera.
    Se destinaran empenos de escala estatal a la carbonifera y se concentraran fuerzas a las minas de grandes reservas de yacimiento y buenas condiciones de explotacion para incrementar considerablemente la produccion. A la siderurgia le cabe la responsabilidad de imprimir un viraje a la produccion de materiales de acero a partir de los recursos nacionales. En el sector de transporte ferroviario es preciso satisfacer las crecientes demandas de traslado mediante el mejoramiento de la organizacion y direccion de sus actividades y la implantacion de una disciplina tan ferrea como en el ejercito. 　Las industrias extractiva, mecanica, quimica, de materiales de construccion, silvicultura y los demas sectores de la economia nacional se dedicaran a asentar firmemente la base material-tecnica dando preferencia a la solucion de los problemas basicos y a lograr un nuevo ascenso productivo. Se impulsara la modernizacion de los procesos manufactureros en la industria ligera para aumentar asi la produccion de articulos de consumo popular de calidad.
    　Todo el pueblo debe incorporarse con entusiasmo al proyecto de proteccion del territorio y medio ambiente para convertir el pais en un paraiso socialista con frondosa vegetacion.
    　El editorial conjunto apunta que en todos los sectores y unidades se desarrollara esa campana con audacia y dinamismo y con el ambicioso objetivo de renovarlo todo por completo considerando esto como una importante estrategia economica. La actualizacion tecnologica se realizara primero en los objetos que lo necesitan con urgencia y pueden dar gran rendimiento, ateniendose al principio de recurrir a sus propios medios internos. 　Es preciso someter los quehaceres economicos al control del Consejo de Ministros e implantar un ordenado sistema y disciplina de gestionarlos al mando unificado de esta entidad.
    　Los cuadros del sector economico tienen que proyectar y dirigir las labores economicas dando pruebas de su responsabilidad y creatividad con una cientifica estrategia administrativa y empresarial y en el principio de sacar mayores ingresos reales.
    Una de las metas mas importantes en la construccion de la gran potencia prospera es hacer florecer plenamente la cultura socialista a la altura de nuestro tiempo Songun mediante innovaciones sustanciales de todas las actividades de esa rama, senala y se refiere a las tareas que se presentan ante las ramas de educacion, ciencia y tecnica, salud publica, literatura y arte.
    Para acelerar la marcha general revolucionaria del Songun el Partido deposita gran esperanza en los jovenes, quienes este ano significativo de 60o aniversario de la fundacion de la Union de la Juventud Socialista Kim Il Sung manifestaran en un grado mas alto su espiritu como vanguardia en la empresa de hacer brillar ilimitadamente las ideas y los meritos del gran Lider en cuanto al movimiento juvenil y forjar el porvenir de la causa del Songun, indica el editorial conjunto.
    La clave de la victoria inevitable descansa en mantener con firmeza los principios socialistas, senala el editorial conjunto y subraya: El PTC se mantiene en su firme posicion de desplegar todos los trabajos de manera creativa e innovadora segun la demanda de la realidad en constante desarrollo, pero sin ceder ni un apice los principios revolucionarios. Es imprescindible materializar a cabalidad los principios revolucionarios, que hemos mantenido invariablemente, inclusive el de asegurar la direccion unica del partido y la guia unificada del Estado. Hay que resolver todos los problemas, que se presentan en la administracion economica y la vida social, de acuerdo con el caracter colectivista del socialismo.
    　El editorial conjunto destaca que todos los compatriotas del Norte, Sur y extranjero tienen que impulsar con mayor dinamismo la causa de la reunificacion de la Patria entrada en una nueva etapa, y continua:
    "!Libremos con pujanza los tres movimientos patrioticos por la reunificacion independiente, por la paz contra la guerra y por la gran unidad nacional bajo la bandera de ´entre nosotros, los connacionales´!", esta es la consigna que debemos enarbolar este ano en el movimiento por la reunificacion del pais. Resolveremos todos los problemas relacionados con la realizacion de la causa de la reintegracion dando prioridad a la dignidad y los intereses de la nacion segun el requisito del ideal de "entre nosotros, los connacionales". Lograremos que predomine el espiritu de conceder importancia y primacia a la nacion, y se levante una ola de calor por la reunificacion independiente en todos los lugares donde viven nuestros compatriotas. Haremos una tradicion celebrar con solemnidad el 15 de junio, fecha de publicacion de la Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur como "Dia de entre nosotros, los connacioanles". Todos los compatriotas del Norte, Sur y extranjero, mediante la cooperacion nacional, deberan rechazar resueltamente la injerencia y dominacion de Estados Unidos y no perdonar ni en lo mas minimo los actos traidores a la nacion de las fuerzas opositoras a la reunificacion aliadas con las fuerzas extranjeras.
    Hay que luchar con fuerza por preservar la paz contra la guerra.
    Todos los integrantes de la nacion tendran que movilizarse como un solo hombre en la contienda para aplastar categoricamente las maniobras del imperialismo yanqui encaminadas a provocar una nueva guerra, a fin de salvaguardar resueltamente la paz y la seguridad en la Peninsula Coreana. Con su lucha pannacional por hacer retirarse de Corea a las tropas norteamericanas, deberan eliminar de cuajo la causa raigal de la guerra en esta tierra. Tienen que seguir manteniendo en auge el ambiente de reconciliacion y unidad nacional e intensificar aun mas la solidaridad y alianza entre las agrupaciones aspirantes al movimiento por la reunificacion.
    Actualmente las fuerzas conservadoras pronorteamericanas surcoreanas hacen desesperadamente sus ultimos esfuerzos por hacer retornar la actual epoca proreunificacion del 15 de Junio a la de enfrentamiento pasada y por realizar su ambicion de tomar el poder. Todos los sectores y capas de Corea del Sur tienen que aplastar el contubernio del "neoconservadurismo" y su desafio con la gran alianza de las fuerzas progresistas, imponiendo asi la bancarrota definitiva al colectivo de traidores vendepatria.
    Este ano, todos los connacionales coreanos del Norte, el Sur y el extranjero deberan luchar con energia planteandose como su tarea principal los tres movimientos patrioticos por la reunificacion independiente, por la paz contra la guerra y por la gran unidad nacional, y de esta manera, manifestar una vez mas el poderio de nuestros compatriotas cohesionados como un haz bajo la bandera de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y abrir una nueva coyuntura a la empresa de la reunificacion nacional.
    Nuestra causa revolucionaria es causa justa e invencible para forjar con exito el destino de la Patria y la nacion y para lograr la independencia de todo el mundo. En lo adelante tambien contribuiremos de modo activo a la construccion de un nuevo mundo independiente, pacifico y amistoso enarbolando la bandera de la independencia antiimperialista, la bandera del socialismo.

Kim Jong Il junto con Kim Yong Nam envia mensaje a Fidel Castro Ruz

     Pyongyang, 31 de diciembre (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, junto con Kim Yong Nam, presidente del Presidium de la Asamblea Popular Suprema de la RPDC, envio el dia 31 un mensaje de felicitacion a Fidel Castro Ruz, primer Secretario del Comite Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba y Presidente de los Consejos de Estado y de Ministros de la Republica de Cuba, con motivo del 47o aniversario del triunfo de la Revolucion Cubana. El mensaje senala que durante los 47 anos posteriores al triunfo de la revolucion, el hermano pueblo cubano, bajo la acertada direccion de Fidel Castro Ruz, defendio con honor la soberania del pais frustrando tajantemente las siniestras maniobras de bloqueo, sancion, aislamiento y aplastamiento de los imperialistas norteamericanos y logro un gran avance en el desarrollo de la educacion, la salud publica y la economia y en la mejora de la vida del pueblo y prosigue:
    El pueblo coreano se regocija sinceramente como de los suyos todos los exitos del hermano pueblo cubano logrados en la revolucion y la construccion y brindara en el futuro tambien el firme apoyo y la solidaridad a la justa causa del pueblo cubano para defender la soberania del pais y las conquistas de la revolucion.
    La misiva expresa conviccion de que las tradicionales y camaraderiles relaciones de amistad y cooperacion entre los partidos, los gobiernos y los pueblos de los dos paises continuaran ampliandose y desarrollandose en medio de la lucha comun contra el imperialismo y por el socialismo y desea a Fidel Castro y al pueblo cubano nuevos y grandisimos exitos en sus labores.

Paek Nam Sun envia mensajes a sus homologos de Cuba y Sudan

     Pyongyang, 31 de diciembre (ATCC) -- El canciller de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, Paek Nam Sun, envio mensajes de felicitacion al canciller de la Republica de Cuba, Felipe Perez Roque, y al ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de la Republica de Sudan, Lam Akol, en ocasion del 47 aniversario del triunfo de la Revolucion Cubana y del 50 aniversario de la independencia del pais africano. Paek, en su misiva, senala que a lo largo de estos 47 anos los pueblos de los dos paises se han apoyado y cooperado estrechamente en la lucha por la defensa del socialismo y en contra del imperialismo norteamericano, enemigo comun, y expresa su contento sobre el hecho de que las combativas y hermanas relaciones de amistad y cooperacion, logradas en el camino del cumplimiento de la causa comun para la independencia antiimperialista y el socialismo, se desarrollan con mas vigor bajo la atencion directa de los maximos dirigentes de ambos paises.
    Manifiesta la conviccion de que por los esfuerzos comunes de ambas partes las relaciones bilaterales existentes se ampliaran y se fortaleceran incesantemente conforme al proposito y la esperanza de los dos dirigentes y le desea al destinatario mayores exitos en su labor responsable. En tanto, Paek, en su mensaje enviado a su homologo africano, se refiere a que despues de la independencia, el pueblo sudanes logro muchos exitos en la lucha por defender la independencia del pais y la integridad territorial y construir una nueva sociedad prospera.
    Expresa conviccion de que las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion entre los dos paises se fortaleceran y se desarrollaran mas tambien en el futuro y le desea exitos en su labor responsable.
