Letter to Kim Jong Il from Russian Fund President

     Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The Supporters' Council of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of the Art for the Century" decided to award order of the "Star of Protectors of the Arts", the supreme social citation of Russia, to Kim Il Sung, the eternal president of the DPRK, highly praising his fidelity to the idea of bona fides and justice and his feats for the cause of peace and the mental and moral treasure of humankind, preservation and development of national traditions and the development of the relations of cultural cooperation between the DPRK and Russia and carrying reverence for the great man and master of the times. In this connection O. V. Oleinik, president of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of the Art for the Century", on Jan. 13 sent a letter to Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
    The letter said that a high degree of the patriotic spirit of the people in the DPRK and their boundless love for the country will never dry up but remain deep in the hearts of the rising generation thanks to the invincible Juche idea founded by Kim Il Sung, the great leader and teacher. It requested Kim Jong Il who is a faithful and true successor to Kim Il Sung to receive the order of the "Star of Protectors of the Arts" symbolic of the eternal friendship of the Korean and Russian peoples.

     Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The Organizing Committee of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of the Arts for the Century", the Standing Committee of the "International Academy for Protection of the Arts" and the Standing Committee of the Social Charity Movement "World's Honest People" decided to award honorary title "Protector and Charitarian of World Art for 2005", a prize of the international community, and honorary title of academician of the "International Academy for Protection of the Arts" to Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, in high praise of his distinguished feats in expanding cooperation between the Russian and DPRK peoples in the fields of education, science and culture, preserving the traditions of national culture and strengthening ideological and moral foundations for the education of young people and his contribution to protecting the arts and preserving the global traditions of charity. In this connection O. V. Oleinik, president of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of the Arts for the Century", sent a letter to Kim Jong Il on Jan. 13.
    The letter said that the deep care shown by Kim Jong Il for the expansion and development of cultural exchange between the two countries and his noble and true feelings and mental and moral strength are reliably guaranteeing the close and fruitful relations for peace and prosperity, wellbeing and happiness of the peoples of all countries.
    It informed that the second ceremony for awarding the "Protector and Charitarian of World Art for 2005", a prize of the international community, will be held at the state Kremlin Palace, the heart of Moscow and symbol of Russia, on Feb. 16, 2006.
    Extending warm congratulations to Kim Jong Il on being awarded honorary titles, the letter said: We express our sincere hope that cooperation between us for the wellbeing of all peoples of the world will continue.

Message of Sympathy to President of Slovakia

     Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on Jan. 21 sent a message of sympathy to Ivan Gasparovic, president of the Slovak Republic, in connection with human losses caused by the crash of a plane in Slovakia. Upon hearing the sad news of the casualty, Kim in the message expressed deep condolences to the president and through him to the victims and their bereaved families.

DPRK Ambassador to Thailand Appointed

     Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- O Yong Son was appointed as DPRK ambassador e. p. to Thailand, according to a decree of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.

S. Korean Security Authorities' Crackdown Assailed

     Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) reportedly made public a statement on Jan. 18 to denounce the security authorities' suppression of patriotic youth and students. The statement noted that the security authorities described the 13th term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils as an "enemy-benefiting organization" and threatened that they would issue a warrant for the arrest of its core members and put them in the want list if they do not accede to the demand for their appearance. The security authorities have stretched out the tentacles of suppression to the chairmen of the student councils of Jeonnam National University and Chosun University, it said, and went on:
    Such reckless actions of the security authorities are anti-reunification moves chilling the favorably developing inter-Korean relations and going against the willingness of the nation for reunification and a sinister scheme to intensify the suppression of patriotic youth and students and thus enfeeble their activities and maintain the political foundation.
    Abolition of the "National Security Law" in the June 15 era of reunification is the task which brooks no further delay, the statement said, demanding that the security authorities stop the suppression of youth and students and apologize to all the people for their past atrocities.

Moves to Frame up "Liberal Teachers Union" Flailed

     Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Educational and Cultural Workers' Union issued a statement on Jan. 21 in denunciation of the moves of the south Korean neo-conservative forces to frame up "Liberal Teachers Union" in a bid to implant feelings of separation in the hearts of the nation with mistrust and confrontation, dull the rising generations' consciousness of national independence and immolate them to outside forces. In south Korea the Grand National Party and other conservative forces are now bringing together those riffraffs who are crazy for worship towards the U.S. to frame up the "Liberal Teachers Union" against the National Teachers Union (Jongyojo) which is conducting progressive and patriotic educational activities for independent reunification among students.
    The statement branded the "Liberal Teachers Union" as an invention of the U.S., which seeks to stamp out the south Korean people's consciousness of independent reunification and incite the spirit of pro-American and anti-north confrontation among the rising generation and reduce south Korea to its eternal colony devoid of independence, and of the south Korean neo-conservative forces living with the backing of the U.S.
    Noting that there is no room in the labor movement in the June 15 era for such a sham trade union as the "Liberal Teachers Union" turning their back to the nation and reunification, it said the neo-conservatives' moves to revive the consciousness of pro-American and anti-north confrontation in the campus and stamp out the pro-reunification progressive forces under the mask of trade union are an intolerable mockery of the trade unions and a grave challenge to justice and truth.
    It went on:
    As long as the GNP and other neo-conservatives are left intact, it is impossible to realize the reunification of the country, the long-cherished desire of the nation, and to expect the independence and democratization of south Korean society and the sound development of national education. All the reunification movement organizations and labor movement organizations including Jongyojo should clearly see the heinous scheme of the neo-conservatives under the manipulation of the U.S. and decisively frustrate the move to frame up the "Liberal Teachers Union".

Koreans Called upon to Wage Three-point Patriotic Movement

     Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- What is important for the Korean nation to step up their advance for national reunification this year is to conduct the vigorous patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article. This three-point patriotic movement serves as a weapon and a basic method of patriotic struggle to step up the advance for national reunification in the idea of "By our nation itself", the article says, and goes on:
    This movement is a powerful weapon for independent reunification.
    The 60 odd-year-long history of the movement for national reunification teaches a lesson that only when all the countrymen unite close under the banner of independence, is it possible to foil the moves of anti-reunification forces at home and abroad and open up a broad avenue for reunification. A key to meeting the outsiders' challenge for domination and aggression and developing the process of reconciliation and reunification is to conduct patriotic movement for independent reunification. The sovereignty of the nation and its reunification are guaranteed only when all the Koreans deeply cherish their national responsibility and their mission for the times and make the nation-first spirit of attaching importance to the nation and hot wind for reunification prevail throughout the Korean Peninsula.
    The three-point patriotic movement is the motive force of the struggle to defend the peace of the country and the security of the nation. The most dangerous force harassing peace on the Korean Peninsula at present is the United States. The U.S. imperialists are violators of world peace as well as vicious harassers of peace of the Korean Peninsula.
    Even at this moment the U.S. is working hard to provoke a new war while engaging itself in the anti-DPRK campaign to hamper the independent reunification of the Korean nation and dominate the whole of Korea.
    The strength to foil their moves for aggression, defend peace and pave the way for reunification lies in the patriotic movement for peace against war. The movement also puts great spurs to the drive for great national unity for the dignity and prosperity of the nation.
    Only when the Koreans conduct a vigorous patriotic movement for great national unity in high spirit along the road indicated by the June 15 era of reunification, can they open up a bright future for reunification and prosperity along the track of the harmony and great unity of the nation. Great national unity constitutes a fundamental factor of wonderful successes made in the movement for national reunification and in the improvement of the inter-Korean relations in the June 15 era of reunification.

DPRK Holidays to Be Observed in Cambodia

     Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- The Cambodian preparatory committee to commemorate the Day of the Sun and February 16 was inaugurated on Jan. 16. Kong Sam Ol, deputy prime minister and minister of the Royal Palace, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee at the instruction of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.
    The preparatory committee discussed and decided to organize colorful functions such as film show and photo exhibition and widely introduce the undying exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il through publications on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and February 16.

Joint New Year Editorial of DPRK Studied Abroad

     Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- Seminars and reading sessions on the joint New Year editorial of the newspapers of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Korean People's Army and the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League were held by the Nigerian Group for the Study of Kimjongilism, the Tanzanian National Coordinating Committee of the Juche Idea Study Groups and the Bangladesh Institute of the Juche Idea during the period from Jan. 7 to 13. Olasinde Olajide, chairman of the Nigerian Group for the Study of Kimjongilism, at a seminar referred to the fact that the Korean people achieved astonishing successes under the uplifted banner of Songun last year, expressing conviction that they would make a new leap forward in all fields under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il this year as clarified in the joint New Year editorial.
    The vice-chairman of the Tanzanian coordinating committee, at a reading session said that the joint New Year editorial of the DPRK inspires all the progressives who aspire after justice and peace.
    Haider Akbar Khan Rano, director of the Bangladesh Institute of the Juche Idea, at a reading session noted that a wealth of experience gained by the DPRK which has emerged victorious under the great banner of Songun serves as precious treasure for the progressives in the struggle to build an independent new society.

DPRK Policy on National Reunification Supported by Bosnia-Herzegovina

     Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- Bosnia-Herzegovina and the DPRK have levers and potentials to develop the bilateral relations. We support the DPRK's policy on the reunification of the country which enables the north and the south of Korea to live in a unified state and the DPRK's stand that the issue of its reunification should be left to the Koreans to decide on it by themselves. Ivomiro Jovic, president of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, said this when receiving credentials from DPRK Ambassador to his country Jo Sung Ju on Jan. 10.
    The right of all countries to conduct nuclear activities for a peaceful purpose should be guaranteed, he said, supporting the efforts of the DPRK to settle the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
    He highly estimated once again the efforts of leader Kim Jong Il for the prosperity of the country, sincerely wishing him new success in the future.

Rodong Sinmun on Cause of National Reunification

     Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- The cause of national reunification is vigorously advancing under the banner of national independence to suit the character of the independent cause of the Korean nation. Nobody can block the powerful advance of the movement for independent reunification by the ardent patriotic enthusiasm and positive struggle of the Korean nation aspiring after reunification. Rodong Sinmun today observes this in a signed article.
    It says:
    The idea of "By our nation itself" clarified in the historic June 15 joint declaration, the strong idea of national independence based on the great principle of Juche, clearly indicates the correct way of hewing out the destiny of the Korean nation, remarkably increases its members' consciousness of independence and national character and correctly leads them to the struggle for independent reunification and national unity. The movement for independent reunification, the main trend of the June 15 era of reunification, is a patriotic cause of the Korean nation successfully advancing amidst the ardent patriotic zeal and positive struggle of all the fellow countrymen.
    The movement for reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification advancing in the idea of "By our nation itself" and under its banner is evoking the positive support and sympathy of all Koreans and putting their patriotic zeal and strength into gear. If the Koreans join hands with each other and pool their strength and wisdom, they will have nothing impossible to do and no force can match them.     After the publication of the joint declaration the struggle of the Korean nation for independent reunification has vigorously advanced despite the vicious obstruction moves of the foreign forces and the anti-reunification forces.     Although the anachronistic moves of the U.S. and its followers against the Korean nation and the trend of the times are getting more frantic, the Korean nation will vigorously advance along the road of independent reunification, meeting challenges of history with one desire and one will.

U.S. Ambassador's Reckless Remarks under Fire

     Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- The south Korean journalist association issued a statement on Jan. 18 blasting the outcries made by the U.S. ambassador in Seoul, south Korean MBC reported. The statement accused the U.S. ambassador of again letting loose a string of balderdash that south Koreans should be concerned about the north regime. This is a sort of pressure on the north and, at the same time, an interference in the internal affairs of the south, it said, demanding the U.S. ambassador make an immediate apology for his remarks.
    The U.S. ambassador would be well advised to refrain from making remarks getting on the nerves of the north, warned the statement.

National Sketch Contest of School Youth and Children Held

     Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- The first national sketch contest of school youth and children was held at the Central Youth Hall from Jan. 14 to 20 on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League. More than 700 sketches done by school youth and children from across the country were presented to the contest.
    Among the drawings that deeply impressed the participants were sketches "Native Home in Secret Camp in Mt. Paektu", "Bouquet in February", "Jubilation", "Pride", " Top-grade Twin Marksmen" and "Promise." They successfully represented the immortal exploits of leader Kim Jong Il, the appearance of the young vanguard performing heroic exploits in building a great prosperous powerful nation and the ardent desire of schoolchildren to join the army and glorify their youth through their military service.
    At least 400 pieces presented by Pyongyang City and several provincial committees of the youth league were highly estimated at the contest.

Ceremony of Presenting Electric Locomotive Held

     Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- The school youth and children of Korea provided an electric locomotive "Young Vanguard of Songun Marking the 60th Anniversary of the Youth League" through a brisk good conduct movement on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.      Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- Newspapers here today come out with editorials saying that spectacular successes and immortal feats registered by leader Kim Jong Il during his visit to China will shine long along with the history of the DPRK-China friendship. Rodong Sinmun says that Kim Jong Il's recent China visit offered a momentous occasion as it provided a new landmark in boosting the unbreakable friendship and solidarity and developing the sincere and comradely cooperation between the parties and peoples of the two countries despite the whirlpool of the turbulent 21st century.
    It goes on:
    The visit also offered a significant occasion in further deepening the mutual understanding and friendship between the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries and strikingly demonstrated the good tradition and solidity of the bilateral friendship that has been brought into fuller bloom in the new century.

CRPP revela intencion de belicistas de agredir a la RPDC

    　Pyongyang, 21 de enero (ATCC) -- El portavoz del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria (CRPP) hizo publica el dia 20 una declaracion ratificando la voluntad del ejercito y el pueblo de Corea de hacer frente a las cada dia mas siniestras maniobras de confrontacion los maniacos de guerra de EE.UU. y del Sur de Corea con la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. Hace algunos dias, la secretaria de Estado norteamericano Rice dijo que "hay fuerzas sustanciales para detener las actividades del Norte de Corea" mientras que el embajador norteamericano acreditado en el Sur de Corea senalo que "EE.UU. tiene un plan para remediar alguna inestabilidad que eventualmente produzca el Norte de Corea por el problema nuclear".
    Igualmente, a instigacion de EE.UU., las fuerzas belicistas surcoreanas acicatean sus preparativos belicos, entre otros, el desarrollo e introduccion de pertrechos ultramodernos como los cazas "F-15K" y Awacs, el ordenamiento y reestructuracion en sentido general del sistema de mando operacional del ejercito surcoreano.
    Ademas, tratan de enmendar la "ley de organizacion del ejercito de reserva local" para movilizar rapidamente a los civiles en la guerra. Susodichas palabras intimidantes y acciones militares revelan el intento de desatar una guerra contra la RPDC para aplastarla a todo trance por las fuerzas armadas.
    El CRPP denuncia categoricamente tales maniobras de EE.UU. y las fuerzas satelites calificandolas de una grave provocacion a la RPDC y un imperdonable reto a toda la nacion coreana y los demas pueblos del mundo que aspiran a la paz de la Peninsula Coreana.
    Para buscar un pretexto de la guerra de agresion a la RPDC, EE.UU. intenta ponerle la etiqueta del "pais criminal y peligroso" acusandola de fantasmales problemas como "derechos humanos y falsificacion de billetes".
    Pero,el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea ya conocen de sobra de la naturaleza agresiva, metodos de invasion y belicosidad de EE.UU. y estan preparados para todos los casos eventuales.
    Al igual que EE.UU., las fuerzas satelites tampoco saldran ilesas de la implacable contraofensiva de la RPDC.
    Por lo tanto, las autoridades castrenses surcoreanas deben dejar de adherirse a la politica de guerra nuclear de EE.UU. nadando contra la corriente de la epoca y la aspiracion de la nacion.

Evento historico que profundizo la tradicional amistad Corea-China

    Esta visita deviene una oportunidad trascendental que preparo un nuevo jalon para fortalecer la invencible amistad y solidaridad y desarrollar la cooperacion sincera y camaraderil entre los partidos y los pueblos de ambos paises en medio del torbellino del siglo actual.
    Sirvio de un motivo significativo para profundizar la comprension mutua y amistad entre los maximos dirigentes de ambos partidos y paises y devino una elocuente manifestacion de la excelente tradicion y solidez de la amistad Corea-China que se desarrolla aun mas en el nuevo siglo. Su visita fructifera a China devino un importante evento que marco una brillante pagina en la historia de amistad coreano-china.
