S. Korea-U.S. "Strategic Dialogue" Assailed
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) and the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) reportedly denounced the "strategic dialogue" for partnership within the framework of alliance held between the U.S. and south Korean authorities.
The South Headquarters of Pomchonghakryon in a statement on Jan. 20 referred to the fact that the "government" authorities chimed in with the U.S. demand for tightening the aggressive "alliance" in the "strategic dialogue," saying that it is "conducive to regional stability."
The U.S. is the very one who incites war and confrontation in Northeast Asia, statement said, and went on:
The "strategic flexibility" pushed forward by the U.S. is a war trick to invade the north. Nevertheless, the "government" authorities are following it, which is nothing but an anti-national act of sympathizing with the U.S. war moves in defiance of the idea of national cooperation and "by our nation itself."
The "government" authorities should stop at once servility to the U.S. which is contrary to the spirit of national cooperation.
The South Headquarters of Pomminryon in a commentary on the same day branded the south Korean authorities' expression of "respect for strategic flexibility" as a serious pro-American flunkeyist act, condemning the "strategic dialogue" which will inflict war holocaust upon the Korean nation.
Friendly Gathering with Chinese Embassy Officials
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The Foreign Ministry of the DPRK arranged a friendly gathering with staff members of the Chinese embassy here on Thursday evening on the occasion of the New Year Juche 95 (2006).

Speeches were made by Paek and Wu.
The speakers said that leader Kim Jong Il's unofficial visit to China at the invitation of President Hu Jintao at the beginning of the new year marks a historic occasion in developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties, the two governments and the two peoples on a higher level.
They expressed the belief that the traditional DPRK-China friendship will continue to develop in the new year, too, under the deep care of the leaders of the two countries.
The participants talked to each other about the need to boost the mutual relations, deepening the feelings of friendship.
U.S. Touted "Strategic Flexibility" of Its Forces in S. Korea Flailed
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities were so subservient to the U.S. as to agree to the issue of "strategic flexibility" of its aggression forces in south Korea raised by it again at the recent south Korea-U.S. strategic dialogue for partnership within the framework of their alliance held in Washington. This has sparked off deep apprehension and bitter wrath among the domestic and foreign public.
A spokesman of the Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland in a statement on Jan. 26 urged the south Korean authorities to give up at once sycophancy and servility towards the U.S., bearing deep in mind that to support the U.S. in its policy of domination, interference and aggression is a treacherous act of bringing unspeakable misfortune to the nation and little short of digging their own grave.
The U.S. has long touted the issue of "strategic flexibility" of its forces in south Korea which is designed to realize its ambition for military domination over the DPRK and the rest of Northeast Asia and, furthermore, the whole of Asia, the spokesman said, and went on:
The south Korean authorities have been subject to all sorts of humiliation and maltreatment by the U.S. as its colonial servants for more than half a century. It seems that they have not yet awakened as they continue flattering submissively the outsiders who are posing a grave threat to the destiny of the nation even in this June 15 era. This is mean and despicable treachery.
The Koreans value the dignity and sovereignty of the nation more than their lives and punish aggressors without mercy.
The U.S. had better clearly understand this spirit of the Korean nation and opt to withdraw its aggression troops from south Korea to the last man, in stead of talking about the "strategic flexibility."
The moves escalated by the U.S. for a war of aggression against the DPRK, keeping its forces in south Korea, would only compel the latter to further bolster up its deterrent for self-defence under the uplifted banner of Songun.
Elimination of GNP Clan in S. Korea Called for
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The Information Department of the Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front on Jan. 21 made public an open questionnaire addressed to the Grand National Party of south Korea, according to the Internet site Kuguk Jonson. It lashed out at the GNP for having staged a fascist charade aimed at deceiving the popular masses under the motto of "defence of liberal democratic system," going under the masks of "protector of human rights" and "champion of democracy" as a successor to the ill-famed "Yusin" dictatorship.
The "liberal democratic system" which the GNP claimed would defend at the risk of its life means the revival of the "Yusin" dictatorial system, the questionnaire noted, and continued: The GNP, the most savage violator of democracy in the world, the descendant of the fascist dictator and the successor to the "Yusin" dictatorial regime and the "Republican Party", should tell the people what is its real intention.
The GNP never misses the chance to trumpet about "political coloring" such as "communization" and "crisis of security". This is nothing but a political farce intended to fool the people for the purpose of usurping power.
The GNP is raising the same hue and cry over the "crisis of security" as the "Yusin" dictator did. This is nothing but a sinister design to seize power by fanning up confrontation and an atmosphere of war among Koreans in utter disregard of the interests of the country and the nation.
The rowdyism kicked off by the GNP outside the building of the "National Assembly," chanting "Repeal revised law on private schools" is nothing but an arrogant and high-handed act of ignoring and threatening the people.
If the law that passed through the "NA" with an approval of the overwhelming majority of the people and by the agreement of the ruling and opposition parties should be regarded as a "law railroaded through it in a brigandish manner," how should one call the "bill on the constitutional revision allowing the election for the third-term " and the "Yusin constitution" which were cooked up by the "Yusin" dictator by setting the CIA in motion without any approval from any opposition parties or people?
Pak Kun Hye should think twice over the mounting criticism voiced even by members of the GNP that "its representative's ideological prejudice is a hereditary disease" and " confrontational ideological framework is the only thing one can say of her leadership ability".
The GNP is made up of descendants of cruel torturers, murderers and law-enforcement agents in the era of military dictatorship who are now working with bloodshot eyes to return to power. They are now busy whitewashing the past crimes, not uttering even a word of apology to so many guiltless people who were executed and those who suffered mental and psychological pain after being branded as "spies" and "families of Reds" for half a century. How can this group talk about human rights?
The reality goes to clearly prove that it is impossible to expect any genuine democratization of society nor is it possible for the people to get rid of political instability and confusion in living nor is it possible to achieve inter-Korean reconciliation and unity and the country's reunification as long as there remain the descendants of the dictatorship such as the GNP.
Fresh Leap Forward in New Year's Drive Called for
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea in the joint New Year editorial has appealed to all the people to build an economic power proudly in the 21st century by raising the flame of the great upswing of Songun revolution just as they effected the great Chollima upswing in response to the decisions of the December plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee five decades ago.
Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in an editorial, calling for putting fresh spurs on the general march of Songun revolution once again and making a leap forward towards the peak of a prosperous powerful nation in hearty response to the militant call of the party.
The tradition of the great Chollima upswing in the 1950s is a precious tradition that the Koreans should carry forward century after century in the struggle for the prosperity of the country, the editorial says, and continues:
It is the intention and determination of the WPK to make the fighting spirit and trait in the period of the great Chollima upswing with which the Koreans brought about miraculous changes under the slogan "Charge at the speed of Chollima!" prevail throughout the country and bring unprecedented changes to this land.
First of all, all the fields and units should give full play to the spirit of devotedly safeguarding the leader and carrying out the party's policy at the cost of their lives just as in the period of the great Chollima upswing.
What is essential in the tradition of the great Chollima upswing is the transparent spirit of devotedly safeguarding the leader and devotedly carrying out the party's policy, the spirit of upholding the party and the leader with substantial achievements through thick and thin in the most difficult period.
We should strive with extraordinary resolution to build an economic power in this land with our own strength and wisdom and our own way true to the tradition of the great Chollima upswing.
All the party members and other working people should raise higher the flame of collective innovation drive in the general march this year.
Officials in all fields and units should boldly think and practise and work full of vigor and passion, finding themselves always in brisk working places just as loyal subjects in the days of the Chollima upswing did.
The editorial calls for dynamically waging new year's struggle in the same fighting spirit and trait as displayed during the great Chollima upswing to glorify this year as a year of a great turn in building a great prosperous powerful nation and powerfully demonstrate the might of Korean-style socialism which emerges victorious under the banner of Songun.
U.S. Hard-Line Policy Not Workable on DPRK
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. policy to isolate and stifle the DPRK proved bankrupt in the 20th century. But the Bush administration pursued it with increased zeal last year, blocking the way of improving the DPRK-U.S. relations and rendering the situation extremely tense.
Rodong Sinmun today observes this in a signed article. From the very day of its appearance the second-term Bush administration revealed its intention to escalate the policy under the motto of "hard-line," the article notes, and goes on:
The U.S. warlike forces said that it is difficult to push forward dialogue without discussing the issue of the DPRK's abandonment of its nuclear program before anything else. Clear is the aims sought by the U.S. through this. It seeks to project the above-mentioned issue as a pending issue related to the DPRK-U.S. relations, complicate the dialogue with the DPRK and indefinitely drag on it, using it as a pretext. Another design sought by it is to keep its forces in south Korea for an indefinite period, aggravate the military confrontation on the Korean Peninsula and weaken the deterrent of the DPRK and thus swallow it up with ease any moment.
The U.S. warmongers declared the DPRK an "outpost of tyranny" and a "criminal state".
The U.S. ceaselessly took issue with the DPRK over the issues of "democracy", "human rights" and "religion" and imposed even sanctions on the DPRK.
The U.S. imperialists attempted to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK with their forces in the mainland, the Pacific and south Korea, the Japan "Self-Defense Forces" and the south Korean forces involved.
But, no hard-line policy of the U.S. imperialists could work on the DPRK.
The DPRK has invariably maintained the revolutionary line of Songun, closely watching the undisguised moves of the enemies for a new war.
The important lesson the Korean people drew again last year is that they should maintain the highest degree of vigilance against the cunning double-dealing tactics of the Bush administration over the issues of the six-party talks and the DPRK-U.S. relations and that they should decisively counter the U.S. imperialists' hard-line policy with the toughest policy.
Any concession in the acute standoff with the U.S. imperialists invites a ruin. A concession will result in a hundred concessions and finally invite death and national ruin.
It is the invariable stand of the DPRK to respond to favor with favor and a hard line with the toughest stand.
Oungum, Popular Musical Instrument
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- Oungum, a Korean musical instrument, becomes a popular one in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Ever increasing is the number of people who want to learn how to play Oungum. One can hear its sound strong in the national color at working places and residential quarters.
The New Year performance "The Blue Sky over My Country", a masterpiece in the Songun era, stirred up the enthusiasm of the applicants.
The Oungum ensemble and Pangchang "Always with Lodestar" which was put on the stage of the performance completely charmed the audience. Its soft and gentle melody had a magic effect on bringing the work's ideological and artistic value into bolder relief.
The instrument makes colorful timbre by various playing methods based on vibration technique that no other instruments can do and thus leads people to a conspicuous emotion.
It, with a tuning system available for various chords, can solve the requirements of musical depiction in a broad and profound way.
It is easy to learn how to play the instrument. And one can play it, simple in size and shape, in a seated or standing posture irrespective of conditions and environment.
It is being widely used not only in solo but also in ensemble and orchestra.
Oungum was initiated by leader Kim Jong Il in military encampment in August Juche 51 (1962) when he was in attendance at Kim Il Sung University. And he taught students how to manufacture it in what form and how to play it and named it Oungum.
Kim Yong Nam Meets Malaysian Ambassador
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a talk with Malaysian Ambassador to the DPRK MD.Yusoff Bin MD.Zain who paid a farewell call on him at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Friday.
On hand was Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Yong Il.
Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 932.
After receiving a salute, he went round the monument to the on-the-spot instructions of President Kim Il Sung and the rooms devoted to the education in the revolutionary history and to the unit's history, conducted by the commander of the unit.
Looking round with deep emotion the precious historic relics and mementoes associated with the gigantic footprints of the President, he said that thanks to the wise leadership and meticulous care of the President this unit grew to be a matchless combat contingent and traversed a path shining with victory and glory.
After acquainting himself with the unit's performance of duty, he dropped in at a military lecture room to learn about the training of its commanding officers.
He set forth tasks to be undertaken to increase the unit's combat capability in every way, expressing satisfaction over the fact that the unit has firmly equipped all its commanding officers with the WPK's Juche-oriented war methods and helped them steadily round off the Korean-style tactics and combat methods by focusing its efforts on the training of its commanding officers and staff, thereby preparing all of them as versatile commanding officers capable of wiping out any formidable enemy troops at a single stroke.
He highly praised the unit for having built modern cultural facilities to enable its servicepersons to fully enjoy a cultural and emotional life, put their operation on a regular basis and established a revolutionary habit of reading books among them, in particular.
To study is a basic process a revolutionary has to go through to cultivate himself and essential mental labor which he should not stop even a single day in order to secure an asset for contributing to the social progress and change, he said, underlining the need to more thoroughly establish the habit of study through book reading.
The next leg of his inspection was a sub-unit of the unit.
He watched the training of its servicepersons in a military lecture room.
He indicated tasks for placing the training on a scientific and regular basis and ways to do so, noting that an effective combat training of servicepersons alone makes it possible to train them into a-match-for-a-hundred fighters equipped with peculiar and superb tactics and high marksmanship and specialized military technique and strong physique.
He took deep care of the soldiers' living, making the rounds of a bedroom, a mess hall, a kitchen, a wash-cum-bath house, a non-staple food store and other supply service facilities.
He saw a variety of food prepared "On the day for soldiers" in the kitchen. He appreciated the efforts made by commanding officers and their families, saying that the food vividly represents their warm love for the soldiers.
He called on the commanding officers to do their best to improve the soldiers' living, always bearing deep in mind the President's teaching that supply service precisely means a political work.
He spared time to watch an art performance given by servicepersons of the sub-unit.
They presented the chorus "Let's Sing of Our Pride in Being under the Guidance of the General", poem and song "We Will Always Remember That Glorious Day", poem and chorus "For the Motherland" and other songs representing the strong longing of the servicepersons of the KPA for Kim Jong Il.
He had a photo session with servicepersons of the unit.
He was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.
