Struggle for Withdrawal of U.S. Forces Called for

Pyongyang, February 12 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity of south Korea in a special statement on February 7 declared it would concentrate all forces on the struggle against the U.S. and war and for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea, the action for smashing the U.S. war moves and driving the U.S. forces, the root cause of war, out of the land. The statement demanding a stop to the expansion of the U.S. forces' base in Phyongthaek charged that the U.S. military strategy on the Korean Peninsula is aimed at developing the U.S. forces in south Korea into "rapid task forces" and expanding their bases in line with their "strategic flexibility" in a bid to secure a base for mounting a preemptive attack on the north with ease.
It is the unchangeable ambition of the U.S. to bring the inter-Korean relations to a collapse, perpetuate the presence of the U.S. forces in south Korea and put the Korean Peninsula under its control by availing itself of a good chance, it noted, and went on: If we allow the U.S. to block national reunification, we will become permanent slaves of the U.S.
The key to ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of Asia lies in forcing the U.S. forces in south Korea to quit there at once to the last man.

His remarks are not mere for an address on leaving his office, the commentary said, noting that they encourage pro-American bureaucrats sharing understanding with the U.S. and, at the same time, threaten the independent personnel. His remarks are, in essence, based on the U.S. basic mode of dominating south Korean society by division, said the commentary.

KCNA Blasts U.S. Gimmick to Evade Responsibility for Deadlocked Talks

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- The United States is now busy floating fictions of "smuggling of fake cigarettes" and "smuggling of drugs" in a bid to achieve a sinister purpose, not content with peddling the lie about "counterfeit notes." Shortly ago, a White House spokesman blustered that the U.S. would never tolerate north Korea's involvement in illegal activities, referring to the reports of American newspapers to the effect that "fake cigarettes" made in north Korea are on sale in American markets. Meanwhile, the U.S. secretary of defense said that the prospect of the resumption of the six-party talks remains gloomy because the DPRK is acting against the U.S. financial sanctions, uttering that counterfeit notes, drug smuggling and sale of missile technology are north Korea's main source of revenue. Underlying these outbursts is the U.S. foolish and mean attempt to tarnish the international image of the DPRK and shift the responsibility for the stalled six-party talks on to it at any cost.
What the U.S. conservative hard-liners seek is to delay the six-party talks under any pretext, escalate the tension on the Korean Peninsula and thus draw water to its mill to meet its own political interests.
They fabricated something new and deliberately created an obstacle to the talks prompted by such way of thinking whenever there was a sign of their progress. They cooked up the story of "counterfeit notes" and kicked up the row for sanctions against their dialogue partner even before the ink got dry on the joint statement adopted at the fourth round of the six-party talks, spoiling the atmosphere of the talks. The Bush administration held a briefing on the "counterfeit notes" of the DPRK in Washington last December but failed to produce any clear evidence. This proved that it was nothing but a farce.
It is a true nature peculiar to the U.S. to spread sheer lies and interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and realize its attempt at aggression on their basis. A clear proof of this was the brigandish armed invasion launched by the Bush administration against Iraq on the basis of its false information. That was why the unbiased international public opinion dismissed the stories about "smuggling of fake cigarettes" and "drug smuggling" and the like spread by U.S. media as a stereo-typed lie faked up by the U.S. ruling quarters and is demanding the U.S. immediately lift sanctions against the DPRK.
The U.S. gimmick to mislead the public opinion by spreading more lies while defying such demand will never convince the international community.

Symposium on Art performance "Blue Sky over My Country"

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- A Juche-oriented literary and art symposium on art performance "Blue Sky over My Country" was held at the April 25 House of Culture on Thursday and Friday. Present there were Minister of Culture Kim Jin Song, Chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Literature and the Arts of Korea Kim Jong Ho, officials concerned, officials of creation and guidance in the art field of the army and society, writers, artistes, teachers and students.
A reporter and speakers said at the symposium that the art performance is a declaration of music in the Songun era shaking the world and a demonstration of the might of Juche-based art breaking a new ground of human art in the 21st century. They stressed that the art performance, jointly created by writers and artistes of the Merited State Chorus of the Korean People's Army, the Mansudae Art Troupe, the Korean People's Army Song and Dance Ensemble, the Phibada Opera Troupe, the State National Art Troupe and other dignified art groups of the army and society, serves as an outstanding monumental masterpiece of the Songun era which gives a profound artistic depiction of the brilliant 60-year history of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea, the greatness of the Songun revolution and the invincible vitality of music politics. They noted that the art performance could be created and completed as a famous work of the Songun era entirely because leader Kim Jong Il wisely led the whole process of creating a large art work of unique concert form.
They called upon all officials, writers and artistes to bring about a new turn in creating art works in the same revolutionary fighting spirit that was displayed in the 1970s. Meanwhile, there were seminars on creation, rendition and stage decor and depiction.

Japan's Shameless Distortion of History in Textbooks Assailed

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- Japan's gross distortion of its history in textbooks is the most despicable and shameless criminal act of enraging the Korean people and other Asians, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article. The article goes on: What is intolerable among other things is that the history textbooks of Japan cite "threat from the Korean Peninsula" that allegedly existed at that time in a bid to justify the Japanese imperialists' aggression and domination over Korea. The fiction of "threat from the Korean Peninsula" was, in essence, a brigandish theory of aggression asserting that Japan should occupy Korea and rule over it without fail for the "security" of Japan.
The above-said history textbooks grossly tampered with the history of the struggle waged by the Korean people to carry out reforms in the modern times. Equally intolerable is the fact that the authors of those textbooks covered the crimes the Japanese imperialists committed by annexing Korea by force of arms and enforcing the harshest colonial rule over it and wrote that this "contributed to the modernization of Korea".
In the history textbooks the Japanese reactionaries totally falsified the truth behind the Japanese imperialists' annexation of Korea.
The worst thing done by them in distorting the history in textbooks is that their authors did not mention at all the most hideous crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists such as massacres and forcible drafting of Koreans and plunder of natural resources of Korea, while whitewashing their crime-woven history of colonial rule over it. What is particularly serious in Japan's retrogressive revision of its history textbooks is that their authors described Japan's wars of aggression as just. By educating the Japanese schoolchildren in the distorted history the Japanese authorities seek to imbue them with the militarist view of history and the idea of aggression and thus use them as a shock brigade for a war of aggression at any time. The above-said moves of the Japanese imperialists clearly reflect the social environment and process for the militarization under way in Japan at present where preparations for reinvasion of Korea are making rapid progress. The Korean people are closely following the moves of the Japanese militarist forces to justify the history of the Japanese imperialists' past aggression of Korea.

Agricultural Workers Celebrate February Holiday

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- A meeting of agricultural workers was held at the People's Palace of Culture Friday to celebrate the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. Kang Chang Uk, chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, made an address at the meeting to be followed by speeches of other officials of the union.

RS. Observes Day of Iranian People's Victory in Islamic Revolution

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- February 11 marks the 27th anniversary of the victory the Iranian people won in the Islamic revolution by overthrowing the pro-U.S. dictatorial regime through a nationwide uprising. On this occasion Rodong Sinmun Saturday carries a signed article. Recalling the fact that the Iranian people have defended the gains of the Islamic revolution under the uplifted banner of independence against imperialism and advanced along the road chosen by them, the article says:
The Iranian people's drive to carve out a new life is now facing the vicious obstruction of the imperialists to stifle the Islamic revolution in Iran.
The U.S. and other Western forces are escalating their interference in the internal affairs of Iran and pressure upon it as never before, taking issue with its activities for the peaceful use of nuclear energy aiming at the socio-economic development of the country. Iran, however, is strongly reacting to them, not yielding to such moves. The Iranian president in a recent statement said that Iran would continue to maintain its line for acquiring nuclear technology for a peaceful purpose despite any threat and blackmail. Noting that international law and agreements have granted Iran the right to use nuclear technology for a peaceful purpose, he stated that Iran would never concede this right.
The U.S., much upset by Iran's tough stand, has become undisguised in revealing its attempt to invade Iran by force of arms. To cope with it, Iran is bolstering its military capability for self-defence.
The efforts of the Iranian government and people to defend the sovereignty of the country and national interests and develop economy and culture are commanding international support.

S. Korean Authorities' Dangerous Tie-up with Outside Forces under Fire

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- It was recently disclosed that the south Korean authorities decided to participate in the U.S.-led "non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD)" exercises. Papers here Saturday in signed commentaries term this decision another unpardonable treacherous crime as it means a collusion with the outside forces in their moves for a war of aggression against fellow countrymen.
Rodong Sinmun observes that the above-mentioned drills are part of the U.S. moves to invent a pretext for infringing upon other countries' sovereignty and invading them. It continues:
The south Korean authorities' decision to participate in those maneuvers can not be construed otherwise than a war crime as it is little short of directly conspiring with the U.S. in its moves for a war of aggression and participating in it. It is also a dangerous act of bringing the disaster of a nuclear war to the Korean Peninsula. Their decision is fraught with greater danger as it came after they consented to the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. troops in south Korea recently and announced their plan to go ahead with joint military exercises with the U.S. as scheduled this year. The U.S. is the biggest possessor and spreader of the WMD and the arch nuclear criminal in the world. Yet, it is crying out for deterring someone from "proliferating WMD," shelving its own crimes. This is like a thief crying "Stop the thief!" The south Korean authorities had better behave themselves, keenly aware that it is the most shameless and despicable act of treachery to do harm to the fellow countrymen by conspiring with the foreign aggressors and robbers.
Minju Joson demands the south Korean authorities immediately withdraw the above-said decision, bearing deep in mind that their treacherous collusion with the U.S. in its reckless moves to invade the north will only bar the inter-Korean relations from favorably developing and entail such grave consequences as bringing the disaster of a nuclear war to the Korean Peninsula.
