Beninese Preparatory Committee Formed

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- An inaugural ceremony of the Beninese preparatory committee for congratulating the sun in the 21st century took place in Cotonou on Feb. 2. Present there were leading officials and members of the Socialist Party of Benin-Baanitee, the Benin National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and General Kim Jong Il's Works, the Benin-Korea Amicable Association "Long Live Kim Jong Il, Supreme Leader".
    Chairman of the association Hessou Kohovi who is chairman of the Benin National Committee in a speech at the ceremony underscored the need to widely introduce the personality of leader Kim Jong Il as a great man and his undying feats among the Beninese people and intensify the activities for supporting the Korean people's just cause on the occasion of February 16 and thus contribute to developing the friendly ties between the two countries.
    The ceremony elected Chairman of the Socialist Party of Benin-Baanitee Ali Houdou honorary chairman of the preparatory committee and Hessou Kohovi chairman of the preparatory committee.
    The preparatory committee decided to organize multifarious functions including seminar, round-table talks and book and photo exhibition.

Presidium of Politburo of Benin Socialist Party-Baanitee Meets

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the Presidium of the Politburo of the Benin Socialist Party-Baanitee was held in Cotonou on Feb. 2 on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. At the meeting Chairman of the party Ali Houdou highly praised Kim Jong Il for wisely leading the Korean revolution and the global cause of independence with his great Songun policy. He stressed the need to further strengthen the friendly and cooperative relations with the Workers' Party of Korea which is invariably holding aloft the banner of socialism while shattering the imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK. A congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

Friday Meeting for Peace against U.S. and War Held

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The 100th Friday meeting was reportedly held in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on Feb. 10 under the sponsorship of the Anti-U.S., Anti-War Solidarity Council for the Withdrawal of the U.S. Troops. Kwon O Chang, permanent co-representative of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, the chairman of the General Student Council of the Sungsil University and other speakers said at the meeting that the Friday meetings held in front of the U.S. embassy every week from November 2003 have been regular anti-U.S. actions.
    The Solidarity Council has so far held Friday meetings to denounce the United States for having seriously threatened the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula through the south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises, scenarios for a war against the north and a hostile policy toward the north, thus greatly contributing to raising the anti-U.S. sentiment of the south Korean people from all walks of life, they noted. The organization will work hard to disclose and condemn the U.S. crimes and free the world from the U.S. forces through Friday meetings this year, too, they said, stressing that it would play its role in bringing about a new surge in the movement for independence against the U.S. through the general offensive to force the U.S. forces to quit south Korea.
    Ri Kyu Jae, chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon), in a solidarity address accused the U.S. of making desperate efforts to hold in check the Korean nation's movement for reunification though five years have passed since the June 15 joint declaration was published. The South Headquarters of Pomminryon will creditably discharge its mission in the actions for peace against war, he declared.

Jonnong Vows to Struggle for Food Sovereignty

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of Peasants Associations (Jonnong) held a meeting of its deputies in Seoul on Feb. 11 at which it set forth the orientation of its work to wage a more dynamic struggle to defend the food sovereignty. Speakers warned at the meeting that if south Korea goes in for neo-liberalist "globalization," its agriculture will be bound to go to ruin. Jonnong will take the lead in the struggle to drive the U.S. forces out of south Korea and build a good society for peasants, they stressed.
    A resolution read out at the meeting said that all the peasants organizations would conduct a widespread solidarity actions with all the civic, public and religious organizations and work hard to check the negotiations for the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) without fail.
    The federation declared it would hold a 100,000-people candlelight meeting against FTA in front of Kwanghwamun of Seoul on Feb. 17 in solidarity with people of various circles.

Friendly Meeting with Staff Members of Chinese Embassy Held

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The Foreign Ministry and the Pyongyang City People's Committee hosted a friendly meeting with staff members of the Chinese embassy here at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel Monday on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. Present on invitation were Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe and staff members of the embassy.
    On hand were Ryang Man Gil, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned. Speeches were made at the meeting.
    Speakers referred to the fact that the DPRK-China friendship is growing stronger day by day under the deep care of leader Kim Jong Il and President Hu Jintao. They underscored the need to boost this friendship.
    The participants in the meeting talked to one another about the cooperative relations between the two countries, deepening the friendship.
    At the end of the meeting, the Chinese diplomats visited the Pyongyang 326 Electrical Wire Factory.
    The ambassador said that he was pleased to visit the factory associated with the leadership exploit of Kim Jong Il on the occasion of his birthday. He hoped that the employees of the factory would achieve greater success in production and thus make a positive contribution to building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.

Military Attaches Visit Revolutionary Museum

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The military attaches' corps here visited the Revolutionary Museum of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces Monday on the occasion of the auspicious holiday of February. The corps went round historic relics on display, being briefed on the fact that leader Kim Jong Il has strengthened the Korean People's Army into an invincible army with his extraordinary military intelligence and outstanding commanding art. Military Attache of the Cuban embassy Giraldo Abreu Morales who is doyen of the corps extended congratulations to Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il on his birthday on behalf of the corps.
    The visit brought home to them the validity of the Songun policy of the DPRK, he said, stressing that Kim Jong Il has directed primary efforts to strengthening the People's Army despite difficulties.

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The Foreign Ministry arranged a friendly meeting with members of missions of international organizations here Monday on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. Russian Ambassador Hosts Reception

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Karlov gave a reception at the embassy Monday evening on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. Present on invitation were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Pak Kyong Son, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jong Gak, vice-minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and other officials concerned. On hand were staff members of the Russian embassy.
    The ambassador in a speech said that Kim Jong Il is well known to the Russian people as the leader of the Korean party, army and people who has distinguished political ability and a close friend of the Russian people.
    He noted that Kim Jong Il has paid great attention to boosting the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The bilateral relations are good neighborly and friendly relations, he said, stating that the Russia-DPRK Joint Declaration and the Moscow Declaration adopted at meetings of the top leaders of the two countries and the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Russia and the DPRK have laid solid foundations for the success of inter-state cooperation.
    He wished the Korean army and people greater success in their struggle to increase the defence capability of the country and build a great prosperous powerful nation under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, this year.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Patriotic Movement

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- To dynamically conduct the three-point patriotic movement is a shortcut to advancing the vigorous movement for independent reunification this year to open a new turn in the cause of reunification, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article. The patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and overall national unity is a sacred patriotic movement in which anyone who has the same blood and soul of the nation should participate, the article notes, and observes: The movement for national reunification is the greatest patriotic movement of the Korean nation.
    The greatest desire of the Koreans who have been bisected is national reunification and the most urgent task of the nation is also to achieve national reunification. National reunification should be achieved by the nation itself in accordance with the independent will and demand of the nation. Herein lies the reason why the struggle for national reunification is the independent movement of the nation. The movement for peace against war is a vital patriotic movement related to the stability of the Korean nation.
    It is the supreme task of the nation to prevent a war and defend peace at the present time when the danger of a nuclear war is growing in the Korean Peninsula owing to the U.S. imperialists. Reunification, prosperity and happiness are unthinkable without nation and territory.
    Overall national unity is a decisive guarantee for independent and peaceful reunification.
    Only when the Koreans are firmly united as one nation can they shatter the moves of the separatist forces at home and abroad, defend peace and achieve the reunification of the country.

Reckless Remarks of Japanese Foreign Minister under Fire

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Aso, addressing a meeting held in Nagoya on Jan. 27, talked nonsense when referring to the visit to the Yasukuni Shrine. He claimed that "the souls of the war dead for whom Japanese pray shouted banzai for His Majesty the Emperor not for the Japanese prime minister and it is, therefore, most reasonable for the Japanese emperor to visit the shrine." In this regard Minju Joson today observes in a signed commentary: Aso's repeated reckless remarks clearly suggest that there is a serious problem regarding his understanding of history and he is seized by the most wicked way of thinking.
    Then why do the Japanese reactionaries stoop to any provocative rash acts stunning the world? Through this they seek to craftily encourage people to rise up to recover from Japan's defeat in World War II and build the second imperial state in a bid to win their political clout and hold a favorable position in the upcoming election of the president of the Liberal-Democratic Party.
    It is by no means fortuitous that with the election near at hand foolish remarks baffling human imagination are heard from Japan.
    This indicates that the Japanese reactionaries will become more undisguised in their moves to hurt the feelings of the peoples of the neighboring countries and drive Japan to militarist overseas expansion by falsifying the hard historical facts. But they should properly know that such moves will not lead to a political success but to self-destruction.
    Japan is now in the grip of a serious political and diplomatic crisis as it is rapidly veering to the Right for its militarization.
    The Japanese reactionaries would be well advised to behave themselves, pondering over the serious consequences to be entailed by their moves for militarist overseas aggression.

Unity and Solidarity among Developing Countries Called for

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- For the developing countries to strengthen unity and cooperation is one of the basic conditions for achieving political stability and national prosperity as required by the developing reality. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    Now that the imperialists are further intensifying their exploitation and plunder of the developing countries, wielding their economic lever, they should unite politically and boost the relations of economic cooperation to defend their sovereignty and achieve sustainable economic development.
    Strengthened cooperation and unity among the developing countries provide the master key to getting rid of the age-old backwardness as early as possible and achieving fast economic progress as they have weak economic and technical foundations and are short of many things.
    At present, the imperialists' military intervention and aggression are one of the biggest obstacles to the independent development of those countries. The higher the developing countries hold the banner of unity, the firmer guarantee they can provide for the security of every country and the more stable phase of peace they can bring to it in its efforts to build a new society.
    If they make an effective use of each country's economic and cultural potentials on the basis of the successes and experience already gained on the principle of unity and cooperation, they can settle a lot of problems arising in the building of a new society. What is important for strengthening unity and cooperation among developing countries is to abide by the principle of respecting sovereignty. The developing countries should boost the economic cooperation on the principle of collective self-reliance and, at the same time, energetically struggle against the old international economic order imposed by the imperialists upon them. To protect resources is one of the effective ways of destroying the old international economic order and establish a new and fair one.
    The developing countries should strengthen the unity and cooperation to smash the imperialists' moves to loot resources and replace the unfair old international economic order by a new and fair one.

     Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The 15th festival of loyalty of youth and children across the country has opened on the occasion of the greatest auspicious national holiday of February.      Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Talks between Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Baudouin Deckers, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Belgium, were held in Pyongyang on Tuesday.     　Como presidente honorario del Comite naciente fue electo el presidente del Partido Socialista de Benin-Baanitee, Ali Houdou, y como presidente Hesou Kohovi. 　La entidad decidio organizar simposio, charla, exhibicion de libros y fotos y otras variadas actividades.
