S. Korean Police Intensifies Crackdown upon Trade Union

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- The south Korean police authorities are intensifying the suppression of the Railway Corporation Workers' Union, according to the south Korean MBC. Much upset by the daily intensified strike of the union, the National Police Office issued an instruction to strongly deal with it and arrest the strikers. By this instruction at least 7,000 policemen were deployed in 175 major scenes of strike across south Korea.
    On March 3 alone, more than 410 unionists were walked away in Taejon, Phaju of Kyonggi Province, Yongyang of North Kyongsang Province and other areas. On the same day, the police searched the office of the union in Ryongsan, Seoul, and seized computers and documents related to the strike.
    Although the union decided to discontinue the strike on March 4, the police announced that it would arrest 26 leading members of the union for whom warrants of arrest had been issued.
    In another development, 58 civic and public organizations including the People's Solidarity of south Korea held a press conference at the Seoul Office of the union on March 4 at which it made public a statement denouncing the police authorities' reckless suppression of the union, according to the south Korean KBS. The organizations in the statement strongly demanded the "government" authorities immediately halt the suppression of the union including the arrest of unionists.

Japan Urged to Settle Its Crime-woven Past

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- Over 100 years ago, the Japanese imperialists illegally occupied Korea by mobilizing aggression armed forces to threaten and blackmail it and fabricate the "Ulsa Five-point Treaty". Since then they had enforced the harshest colonial fascist rule in history for more than 40 years, bringing untold pain, misfortune and disasters to the Korean people. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
    Such crimes can never be forgotten nor concealed no matter how much water may flow under the bridge, the article says, and goes on:
    The Japanese imperialists caused too heavy human and material losses to the Korean people in the past that Japan can hardly expiate for all ages. Japan should have adequately repented of and atoned for them.
    However, Japan has not yet made honest apology and compensation for the never-to-be-condoned past crimes though 60 years have passed since the defeat of the Japanese imperialists. On the contrary it is persistently working hard to deny and embellish the crimes and evade the responsibility for redeeming them. Japan is whetting its sword to stage a comeback to Korea and escalating its hostile moves against the DPRK, seized by the old ambition for "greater East Asia co-prosperity sphere". It seeks to grab Tok Islet, part of the inviolable territory of Korea, and, furthermore, occupy the whole of Korea. Such actions are little short of adding to the hideous crimes perpetrated by it in the past. This is a blatant challenge to the Korean people and a heinous criminal act of violating the Korean nation's dignity and sovereignty.
    Japan remains the sworn enemy of the Korean people because it is still doing huge damage to them as it did in the past.
    The Korean people will surely force Japan to pay dearly for the blood shed by them due to the Japanese imperialists in the past.
    Japan should properly understand this unshakable will of the Korean people and opt to settle its past as soon as possible.

Women Urged to Contribute to Nation's Prosperity

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- All the women should dynamically step up the general march of the Songun revolution and create a heroic epic of Korean-style socialism, closely rallied around leader Kim Jong Il, urges Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in an editorial dedicated to the 96th anniversary of International Women's Day. Stressing the need for the Korean women to steadfastly hold fast to and successfully carry forward the glorious tradition of defending the leader, the editorial continues: All the women should ardently follow and uphold Kim Jong Il's Songun idea and Songun politics and positively apply them to reality, bearing deep in mind that the prosperity of the fatherland, the bright future of Korean-style socialism and the independent dignity and praiseworthy life of the Korean women are all guaranteed by Songun.
    The women should fully discharge their share in effecting the great surge of Songun revolution in all the fields of the revolution and construction.
    They should do what they should in all fields of the national economy just like the women in the period of the great Chollima surge in the 1950s who made new innovative achievements everyday and be proud creators of fresh miracles and feats. They should also take the lead in establishing the Songun revolutionary culture in the whole society.
    They should manage well factories, work sites, streets, villages and families, organize life with tenacity and fully display the admirable traits of the Korean women possessed of optimistic yet highly emotional sentiments in hard time. They should live as required by the socialist way of living and wage a staunch fight against all shades of corrupt and non-socialist elements.
    All the women should fully display the beautiful and noble traits of helping and leading each other forward, thinking others first and sacrificing themselves in today's gigantic general march. The bright future of the great prosperous powerful socialist nation depends on the future generations. The women should give birth to many children and rear them to be dependable men and women to shoulder upon themselves the great prosperous powerful nation with a noble sense of responsibility for the future of the country.
    All the women should work hard to accomplish the historic cause of national reunification, holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem, and constantly intensify militant solidarity with the world progressive women struggling for social progress and women's emancipation against imperialism and colonialism.

February Issue of Journal "The Juche Idea" Published

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- The National Liaison Council of the Japan Society for the Study of Kim Jong Il's Works brought out the February issue of journal "The Juche Idea". The journal edited news that studying sessions and film shows on the Juche idea and Japan-DPRK friendship were held in Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima on the occasion of the New Year, and articles titled "For the movement for learning the Juche idea to retake love and trust among people" and "Let's advance toward future with friends" written by Japanese followers of the Juche idea, and an article introducing chapter 18 of book "Kim Jong Il's Biography" Vol. 2, published by the International Institute of the Juche Idea.
    The journal carried a photo-accompanied account of colorful functions for promoting the improvement of Japan-DPRK relations held in Saitama and Kochi and an article titled "Developing Asia-isolated Japan".

RS. Calls for Making U.S. Imperialists Pay Thousand-fold High Price for Blood Shed by Koreans

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- The brutal massacres of civilians committed by the U.S. imperialists in south Korea are the heinous crimes of exterminating the Korean nation for which it should make the U.S. pay generation after generation. Rodong Sinmun today observes this in a signed article.
    It says:
    The U.S. imperialists killed more than one million innocent people for five years after they occupied south Korea.
    The massacres of civilians climaxed during the Korean war.
    The U.S. imperialist aggression troops have perpetrated more than 2,000 murder cases in south Korea every year after the war,killing or wounding over 100,000 innocent people. Therefore, the south Korean people sustained casualties in peacetime as many as in a war.
    All the massacres of civilians in south Korea were the organized and planned crimes on orders by bosses of the aggression troops.
    Nevertheless, the U.S. imperialists have never apologized for their crimes in south Korea with consciousness of guilt but rather resorted to all sorts of schemes to cover up the truth and evade the legal responsibility.
    Not content with the massacres so far, the U.S. imperialists are rendering the situation of the Korean Peninsula extremely strained under the pretext of the nuclear issue in an attempt to bring the dark clouds of a nuclear war over the Korean nation. It is the firm will of the Korean people to probe the crimes of the U.S. imperialists who have stained the Korean territory with the blood and corpse of fellow countrymen and make them pay a thousand-fold high price for them, the article concludes.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 25th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "On Further Improving and Strengthening the Party's Ideological Work" (March 8, 1981). The work lucidly clarifies all the principled issues arising in developing the ideological work of the Workers' Party of Korea onto a new higher stage as required by the developing reality including the issue of strengthening the ideological education to bring up the revolutionaries of Juche type and the information and agitation work for socialist economic construction and the issue of improving the form and method of the Party's ideological work and providing an effective guidance of the party committees to the ideological work.
    The work serves as an immortal great programme as it clearly indicates the way of strengthening the militancy of the revolutionary ranks in every way and successfully accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche started by President Kim Il Sung by steadily developing in depth the Party's ideological work as required by the era and the developing revolution, the article says, and goes on:
    The single-minded unity of the Korean revolutionary ranks grew stronger than ever before and the DPRK displayed its high dignity and spirit as a socialist bulwark even when the revolutionary consciousness and class awareness of people were paralyzed and socialism collapsed in some countries engaged in socialist construction. This would be unthinkable without the Party's ideological work which has been steadily developed in depth under the guidance of Kim Jong Il.
    The army and the people in the DPRK have grown stronger in idea and faith and the DPRK has vigorously advanced toward the high eminence of a great prosperous powerful nation under the banner of Songun despite the vicious moves for aggression, isolation and suffocation, ideological and cultural poisoning of the enemies of revolution including the U.S. imperialists since the "Arduous March", in particular. This is the fruition of the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il who has consolidated the political and ideological position of the Korean revolution by improving and strengthening the Party's ideological work as required by the Songun era.
    He has provided wise guidance to the development of the Party's ideological work in the era of Songun. He clarified the aim and orientation of the ideological work by developing in depth the Songun idea of Juche to be guidelines of our era and saw to it that the People's Army set an example in improving the form and method of the ideological work and it was followed by the society.

Friendly Gathering at Chinese Embassy

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- A friendly gathering of Korean women and women of the Chinese embassy in Pyongyang was held at the embassy on Tuesday on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of International Women's Day. Present on invitation were Chairwoman Pak Sun Hui and Vice-Chairwoman Ri Yong Hui of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women’s Union, Vice-Chairwoman Hong Son Ok of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and other women officials.
    On hand were the wife of the Chinese ambassador and women of the embassy. At the gathering the speakers said that the DPRK-China relations of friendship are developing onto a new higher stage with leader Kim Jong Il's unofficial visit to China at the beginning of the year and President Hu Jintao’s visit to the DPRK in October last year as a momentum. They referred to the strengthening bonds of friendship between the women of the two countries.
    The participants talked to each other about boosting cooperative relations between the two countries, deepening the feelings of friendship.

Japan Hit for Attempt to Hold Supremacy in Asia

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- Japan is now working hard to strengthen and perfect the system of military cooperation with the United States in a bid to hold military supremacy in Asia, not because of "threat" from any other country, says Minju Joson in a signed commentary today. The Japanese government authorities intend to conclude by the end of this month the talks between the military authorities of Japan and the United States as regards the realignment of the U.S. forces in Japan, which are under way in Hawaii, keeping step with the U.S. attempt to round off the realignment until 2012, the commentary notes, and says:
    Japan has vociferated about "threat from north Korea" in the past years to make an excuse for its conversion into a military power. Recently it raised "threat from China" in addition.
    Japan's vociferation is identical to the essence of the U.S. doctrine on "threat from China". It is no more than a revelation of Japan's wild design to speed up the drive for turning itself into a military power under the pretext of China's increased national strength, increased military capability in particular, and hold hegemony in Asia. Japan is now badly straining every nerve to the increase and development of China's national power and running for "competition" to deter it.
    It announced a plan to launch two more spy satellites by March 2007 to intensively monitor the Korean Peninsula and Taiwan straits. Recently it launched in succession satellites of different missions including Multifunctional Transport Satellite 2. Japan's consciousness of confrontation, policy for supremacy, is very dangerous as it exerts immense negative influence on peace and security of East Asia. Japan's ambition for supremacy in Asia is a daydream which is unable to come true.

National Meeting Marks International Women's Day

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture Wednesday to commemorate the 96th anniversary of International Women's Day. It was attended by Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and others, women in Pyongyang and overseas Korean women staying in the socialist homeland.
    Present on invitation were women of foreign embassies and missions of international organizations here.
    Pak Sun Hui, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union, in her report said that international unity and solidarity of the progressive women of the world has grown strong through the struggle to liquidate imperialism and colonialism and achieve national independence and build socialism and great progress has been made in the development of the world's women movement for nearly one century since the institution of International Women's Day. She went on to say:
    Upon embarking on the road of revolution, President Kim Il Sung set out the original idea and theory on the women's issue and movement and successfully embodied them. After the liberation of Korea he founded the Korean Democratic Women's Union, a mass political organization of the Korean women, and personally worked out and promulgated the Law on Sex Equality.
    Under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il the Korean women have grown to be women revolutionaries in the Songun era, performed the heroic feats in the worthwhile struggle to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and made tangible contributions to the prosperity of the country, with arms, hammers, sickles and writing brushes in their hands.
    The reporter called upon all the women to put spurs once again to the general march of the Songun revolution to make a new leap forward in the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and fully display the heroic stamina as the Korean women in the struggle to usher in a glorious period of efflorescence of Songun Korea. Promising Women's Football Team

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- The women's football team under the sports group of Kim Chol Ju University of Education in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea distinguishes itself in matches. The team, formed four years ago, has earned fame as one of the strong women's football teams in the country.
    It made its debut at the national technical innovation tournaments held in Juche 91 (2002).
    At the tournaments, the young footballers of the team managed the matches as a whole with their dazzling dribbles, quick movement and strong collectivism, attracting the eyes of the spectators and experts.
    After then, the team defeated strong teams at national and international matches. It was none other than this team which placed first at the women's football games of the 22nd Universiad held in August 2003.
    In an interview with KCNA on the occasion of International Women's Day, head of the team Pak Chol, said:
    The key to the rapid development of the team lies in giving physical education to and training its players on the basis of the high standard of intelligence they have got through the university course. As the result, the footballers gained in a short span of time such good successes that other soccer teams could not expect. The average age of the players is 18 and the prospect of the team is promised. The team is engaged in an intensive training for the 24th Universiad to be held next year.
    Growing is the expectation of the country's sports experts and fans to the team.

Songs Created in Praise of Women

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- "Song in praise of women in Songun era" has been recently created and widely sung by people in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The song lauds the Korean women who are glorifying the honor of being woman revolutionaries in the Songun era.
    A lot of songs have been composed in the country in reflection of the pride and happy life of the women who are playing a great role in all fields of social life. "Song of coast artillerywomen", "I am a servicewoman in Songun era", "Like my mother in her military service days" and other songs reflect noble spirit and revolutionary romance of the servicewomen who are spending girlhood with arms in their hands.
    "I am a front-line soldier's wife ", "I am a military officer's wife" and other songs depict well the pride of being wives of front-line servicemen and their firm resolution to devote themselves to the defense of the country.
    Such songs as "A girl innovator dashing like a steed", "Girls of our factory" and "Girl silk-weavers of Nyongbyon" reflect the fruitful labor life of the women who are working miracles and feats in the economic construction along with men. "Song of wife", "My mom who worries herself about her child" and other songs are singing of the warm affection of the women for their families as kind wife, respectable mother. Railway Station Operated by Women

     Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- The women of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are playing a great part in the development of the national economy and improvement of the people's livelihood. It is well illustrated by the fact that Sophyongyang Railway Station under the Pyongyang Railway Bureau is operated by women.
    All the positions of the station from the director of the station to guides have been taken by women for more than 40 years.
    They give primary attention to provide better cultural refinement and service to the thousands of travelers going in and out a day. All the facilities and rooms of the station from the central hall to the waiting room, ticket office, library and cloak-room are associated with beautiful and delicate workmanship of the women. Their colorful art performances, explanation on railway law and regulations and kind service deeply move the passengers.
    Kim Sin Ok, director of the station, who has worked in the railway station for 30-odd years, told KCNA that all the woman employees are full of pride of operating a railway station of the country by themselves, though it is difficult for them.

Portavoz del MINREX condena a Estados Unidos

    　Pyongyang, 8 de marzo (ATCC) -- A la pregunta de un reportero de la Agencia Telegrafica Central de Corea formulada en relacion con que recientemente Estados Unidos volvio a acusar a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea de un "Estado narcotraficante", el portavoz del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de esta respondio dia 7 como lo siguiente: 　Hace algun tiempo, el Departamento de Estado norteamericano, en su "informe anual estrategico para el control internacional sobre narcotrafico", insistio en que la RPDC esta involucrada en el narcotrafico y otras "transacciones ilicitas". 　Esta vez volvio a acusarla a base de datos falsificados aun reconociendo que en 2005 no habia el "narcotrafico" relacionado con la RPDC.
    　Esto demuestra a que grado han llegado las maniobras de Estados Unidos encaminadas a denigrar y ejercer presion sobre ella.
    　Es ridiculo que el Tio Sam, rey de narcotrafico internacional y madriguera de criminales de drogas, siendo objeto de censura internacional, publica cada ano tal informe cuestionando a varios paises del mundo.
    　Bajo el regimen socialista de la RPDC que tiene por ideal rector la idea Juche humanocentrica estan prohibidos estrictamente por la ley el uso, el trafico y la produccion de las drogas que convierten a los hombres en invalidos espirituales. 　En el futuro tambien la RPDC tomara las mas estrictas medidas de ejecucion de la ley de control de drogas y otras de prevencion para que no se infiltren jamas en nuestro pais el narcotrafico y otros crimenes de drogas que proliferan en los paises como EE.UU.

Japon pretende tomar hegemonia en Asia, revela Minju Joson

    　Pyongyang, 8 de marzo (ATCC) -- En estos tiempos, Japon da acicate a sus maniobras encaminadas a fortalecer y perfeccionar el sistema de cooperacion militar con Estados Unidos no por la "amenaza" de alguien sino para tomar la hegemonia militar en Asia. Comienza asi un comentario individual publicado en la edicion del dia 8 del rotativo Minju Joson y prosigue:
    En ese contexto, las autoridades gubernamentales de Japon tratan de terminar hasta finales de marzo las conversaciones entre las autoridades castrenses del pais isleno y EE.UU. sobre la reubicacion de las tropas norteamericanas estacionadas en su pais, que se entablan en estos dias en Hawai. Ademas, coordinan acciones con EE.UU. en el intento de este de concluir hasta 2012 la operacion para ese fin. Anteriormente, Japon pregonaba la "teoria de amenaza del Norte de Corea" para justificar sus maniobras tendentes a convertirse en una potencia militar, a la cual agrego ultimamente otra "teoria de amenaza de China".
    Al igual que la "doctrina de amenaza de gran China" esgrimida por EE.UU., la nueva teoria de Japon consiste en acelerar la conversion en una potencia militar pretextando el crecimiento del poderio estatal, en particular, de las fuerzas militares de China, para tomar a toda costa la hegemonia en Asia.
    Muy nervioso ante el crecimiento del poderio estatal y el desarrollo de China, Japon entro en una llamada "competencia" para detenerlo.
    En ese sentido, en los dias recientes, lanza satelites de diferentes misiones, inclusive el multiproposito de transporte No. 2, aparte de anunciar su plan de despachar 2 satelites espias mas hasta marzo de 2007 para vigilar intensivamente la Peninsula Coreana y el estrecho de Taiwan.
    La conciencia conflictiva y la politica hegemonica de Japon devienen un factor sumamente peligroso y lesivo para la paz y la seguridad de la region del Nordeste Asiatico.
    Nunca sera realizable la irrisoria ambicion del pais-isla de senorear en Asia.

Las mujeres deben contribuir activamente a prosperidad de patria

     Pyongyang, 8 de marzo (ATCC) -- Todas las coreanas, unidas firmemente en torno al Dirigente Kim Jong Il, deben acelerar con vigor la gran marcha de la revolucion del Songun (priorizacion militar) y crear una epopeya heroica del socialismo al estilo coreano. Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un editorial del dia 8 dedicado al 96o aniversario del Dia Internacional de la Mujer 8 de Marzo y continua: Las coreanas deben mantener con firmeza y llevar adelante la gloriosa tradicion de defensa al lider.
    Siendo adeptas de la idea y la politica de Songun del Dirigente deben apoyarlas y materializarlas activamente al estar conscientes de que solo el camino del Songun garantiza la prosperidad de la patria, el radiante futuro del socialismo al estilo coreano, la dignidad independiente y la vida digna de si mismas. Tambien, deben jugar su rol en avivar las llamas del gran auge revolucionario del Songun en todos los dominios de la revolucion y la construccion. Como las mujeres del periodo del gran auge de Chollima de la decada de 1950 quienes habian logrado de dia en dia nuevos exitos innovadores, deben desempenar su rol en todos los dominios de la economia nacional y crear nuevos prodigios y proezas. Ademas, deben tomar la delantera de la labor para establecer la cultura revolucionaria del Songun en toda la sociedad.

    Necesitan poseer nobles y hermosos rasgos: ayudarse y guiarse entre si, pensar mas en otros que si misma y trabajar con abnegacion en la magna marcha general de hoy. El futuro de una gran potencia socialista prospera depende de las nuevas generaciones. Las mujeres con la sublime responsabilidad del futuro de la patria deben tener muchos hijos y formarlos como encargados de la futura potencia prospera.
