Day of Sun to Be Commemorated in Mongolia

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The preparatory committee of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society for commemorating the Day of the Sun was formed with due ceremony at the Mongolian Palace of Culture on Mar. 10. The executive chairman of the Friendship Society said at the ceremony that the exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung for the world revolution would be immortal, adding that its members would significantly commemorate the Day of the Sun through such positive activities as introducing his greatness among the Mongolian people. The ceremony elected Ch. Surenjav, chairman of the Mongolian society, chairman of the preparatory committee and the executive chairman of the society its general secretary.
    The preparatory committee set a commemoration period from Mar. 10 to Apr. 15 and decided to organize colorful functions including meeting, photo exhibition and film show in the period.

U.S. Moves to "Spread Democracy" Assailed

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists' "spread of democracy" is intended to quell the popular masses' desire for independence and block their progress, wreck the global peace and security and Americanize the world community. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
    The U.S. much publicized "offer of democracy" is nothing but a sinister trick to use it as a political and military lever for intervention and aggression on other countries, the article points out, and goes on:
    The U.S. reactionary ruling quarters talk much about "freedom" and "democracy" not to protect the interests and rights of the popular masses but to maintain and strengthen their reactionary political system and exploit and plunder the masses in a more crafty way.
    The process of reconciliation, cooperation and peace has become a trend of the times. The U.S., however, is working in real earnest to attain its aggressive and predatory aims under the signboard of "spread of democracy".
    The reactionary nature of the U.S.-touted "establishment of a democratic order" finds its expression in the fact that the U.S. imperialists are fighting the "war on terrorism" in a more legitimate manner, claiming that it is to protect "democracy". The "war on terrorism" is, at present, one of their principal methods for spreading the American-style "democracy" worldwide. The "color revolution" is another method for "export of democracy" invented by the U.S. to dominate the world. The U.S. seeks to destabilize those countries which are not listed as targets of the "war on terrorism" by orchestrating that "color revolution" and set up pro-American governments there.
    The U.S. moves for "export of democracy" are little short of its interference in other countries' internal affairs and a violation of their sovereignty. It is pressurizing other countries and nations to accept and introduce the American political mode and lifestyle. Herein lies the reactionary nature of its moves for the "establishment of a democratic order" and "spread of democracy".
    The Bush administration's smear campaign against the DPRK's political system and its persistent "human rights" offensive against it are intended to spread the American-style "democracy" to the DPRK with an aim to destabilize and bring down Korean-style socialism.

Kim Jong Il's Great Contribution to Cause of Global Independence Praised

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Jean Baptiste Nkoy, general secretary of the People's Rally for Socialism of Democratic Congo, made public a statement on Mar. 9 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the 13th anniversary of general secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission. Pointing to the great contribution made by President Kim Il Sung to the cause of global independence, he said that the President sincerely helped the developing countries in their efforts to create a new life, rendered positive support to the people in their struggle against the imperialist invasion and conducted energetic activities defending the socialist cause.
    Kim Il Sung always lives in our hearts for his immortal exploits performed on behalf of the times and history, he stressed.
    The cause of global independence is making dynamic advance despite all sorts of trials and challenges, he noted, expressing the conviction that this cause is sure to triumph thanks to Kim Jong Il.

Actions for Defence of Food Sovereignty Declared in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The Agricultural, Stock-breeding and Fishery Committee of Emergency Measures against FTA grouping 36 peasants organizations of south Korea reportedly held its inaugural meeting on Mar. 9 in Seoul to vow to defend the food sovereignty. So Jong Ui, chairman of the Central Association of Agricultural Managers of south Korea, and other speakers said that with the inauguration of the committee as a momentum they would unite as one to check the negotiations for the conclusion of shackling FTA and defend the food sovereignty.
    The inaugural declaration accused the south Korean "government" of resuming the import of U.S. beef even before the start of the negotiations, deciding to cut down the screen quota of south Korean films and unilaterally relinquishing the right to the production of vehicles and medicines to the U.S.
    The committee will conduct strong solidarity activities to protect the food sovereignty from the "government's" unilateral opening of agricultural market, the declaration warned.

Solidarity for Peace against War Called for

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The Peace Solidarity of Koreans in the U.S. reportedly called a press conference in Los Angeles, the U.S., on Mar. 10 three years after the U.S. invaded Iraq. At the press conference the speakers said that peaceable residents in Iraq have been killed in cold blood and sustained immeasurable misfortunes and pains due to the Iraqi war of aggression by the U.S. They called upon all the people to wage a struggle to force the U.S troops out of Iraq as early as possible in solidarity with the world progressives. To this end, they called for turning out as one in large-scale demonstrations for peace against war to be held simultaneously in over 50 cities of the U.S. and all other parts of the world on Mar. 18.
    Then a "statement urging peace against war" was read out.
    It strongly demanded Bush's resignation and withdrawal of the U.S. troops and the south Korean "Jaitun" unit from Iraq, saying that the Iraqi war ignited by the U.S. is an illegal war of aggression.

Past Crimes of GNP Should Be Settled

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- It entirely conforms with the desire of the people for progress, reform and independent reunification and the trend of the times to investigate and judge the criminal atrocities of the past dictatorial regimes from fresh angle and set right history in south Korea. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article Thursday.
    In order to put an end to the history of the foreign forcesf occupation and domination over south Korea, pave the way for independent development and step up progress, reform and the cause of national reunification, it is imperative, first of all, to settle the past crimes committed by the ancestors of the Grand National Party, the article notes, and goes on:
    The successive fascist dictators of south Korea concealed behind the dark curtain of history their unethical crimes of having bestially killed and punished those patriotic youths and students and people who turned out in the struggle for independence against foreign forces, for democracy against dictatorship and for national reunification and turned the whole land of south Korea into a ground of strangulating patriotism with the active support and backing of the United States. The gentries of the GNP, descendants of the successive fascist dictators, are getting frantic in their moves to revive the period of the past fascist dictatorship with a lust for power, far from apologizing to the nation and quitting the political arena.
    If the past history of treacheries is left intact and the criminals remain unpunished, it would be impossible to prevent the repetition of the crime-woven history, to say nothing of the advance of the times.
    The pro-U.S. conservative forces including the GNP are the main target of the struggle to "liquidate the past history" in south Korea. The GNP group and conservative media in conspiracy with them are dead set against the struggle of the progressives for reform and other people to "liquidate the past history".
    The reality shows that only when the south Korean people spearhead their struggle to the GNP and smash the challenges and obstructive moves of the pro-U.S. conservative forces can they clearly liquidate the past history of crimes and realize their desire for independence, democracy and reunification.
    The south Korean people from all walks of life should continue to wage a dynamic struggle to "liquidate the past history" to the end in order to deal a sledge-hammer blow at the GNP, a mass of crimes, build an independent and democratic new society and put spurs to the movement for national reunification.

This Year's Study Tour to Learn from "250-Mile Journey for Learning" Starts

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- "We participants in the study tour to learn from the "250-mile journey for learning" should cover tens of kilometers on foot a day, crossing steep mountain ridges including the Ogasan Pass and Myongmun Pass. So we are quickening our steps in order to learn from the lofty intention of young Kim Il Sung, who made the above-said journey when he was eleven years old." This was what the head of the group of participants in the study tour from Yonpho Middle School in Kim Hyong Jik County, Ryanggang Province, said when interviewed by KCNA. The above-said study tour is an annual event in the DPRK. The first contingent of participants in the study tour is now heading for Mangyongdae, the cradle of the revolution, after leaving Phophyong, a historical place, on March 1.     Young Kim Il Sung set out on the 250-mile journey for learning from Badaogou in China on March 16, Juche 12 (1923), true to the lofty idea of his father Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, that a man born in Korea should know it without fail. He crossed steep mountains and arrived at Mangyongdae, his native place, via Kanggye, Hyangsan, Kaechon and other places. During this long journey he witnessed the miserable life of the people in the homeland and hardened his resolution to defeat the Japanese imperialists and liberate the country.
    The revolutionary faith he cherished during his 250-mile journey for learning prompted him to make a 250-mile journey for national liberation two years later. And thanks to this faith he could liberate the country and build a socialist state centered on the popular masses.

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The participants in the meeting of activists in the movement for winning the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment of the Korean People's Army had a photo session at the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, the sacred temple of Juche, on Mar. 16. KPA Meeting Held

     Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- A meeting of activists in the movement for winning the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment of the Korean People's Army took place in Pyongyang on March 13 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the instruction given by Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il to the whole army to wage the movement. It was a historic meeting as it marked an occasion of bringing about an epochal turn in putting the movement on a higher stage as required by the advancing revolutionary cause of Songun and the development of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK and thereby strengthening and developing the KPA into ranks of human bullets and bombs devotedly defending the leader and a matchless revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu.
    The meeting reviewed the successes and experience gained in the course of the vigorous movement in the last period and discussed tasks to be tackled to develop the movement in depth and thus increase the combat capability of the KPA in every way and ways to do so.
    Present there were KPA Vice Marshal Jo Myong Rok, director of the General Political Department of the KPA, Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Vice Marshal Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, officials of the ministry and commanding officers, political officers and servicepersons of KPA units who have distinguished themselves in the movement and the movement for winning the title of three-revolution red flag.
    Read out at the meeting was a congratulatory message sent by the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea to its participants. The reporter and speakers at the meeting said that the movement was a revolutionary mass movement of the highest form to let all servicepersons learn from the example set by the fighters of the 7th regiment in defending the headquarters of the revolution at the cost of their lives during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and thus prepare all of them as human bullets and bombs devotedly defending the headquarters of the revolution so as to train the KPA into the first line death-defying corps of Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il's initiation of the movement marked a historic event as it paved a true way for strengthening and developing the KPA into a strong revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu to defend and glorify the country, the revolution and socialism, they noted. They referred to the fact that in the course of the movement the KPA has produced many genuine heroic servicepersons and human bullets and bombs who devotedly defended the leader to be always remembered by the people, effected collective innovations in making combat preparations and boosting its combat capability and brought about a fresh change in improving the material and cultural living standards of the servicepersons.
    They called upon the Party organizations at all levels in the army, commanding officers and political officers to intensify the political and ideological education of servicepersons to successfully train them into human bullets and bombs that firmly trust and devotedly defend Kim Jong Il only. Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 16 y continua: Hoy, EE.UU. habla mucho del "ofrecimiento de la democracia" para usarla como una palanca politica y militar de su intervencion y agresion contra otros paises. La capa dominante reaccionaria de EE.UU. habla de la "libertad" y la "democracia" no para defender los intereses y derechos de los pueblos sino para mantener e intensificar su sistema politico reaccionario, explotar y saquear mas taimadamente a estos. Hoy en dia, la corriente de la epoca es la reconciliacion, cooperacion y paz. Pero, EE.UU. se inclina mas al camino para realizar su objeto agresivo y saqueador bajo el rotulo de la supuesta "expansion de la democracia".

    @Pyongyang, 16 de marzo (ATCC) -- El secretario general de la Reunion Popular por el Socialismo del Congo Democratico, Jean Baptiste Nkoy, publico el dia 9 una declaracion con motivo del Dia del Sol (15 de abril, cumpleanos del Presidente Kim Il Sung) y del XIII aniversario de la eleccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il como Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. @El dijo que el Presidente Kim Il Sung, quien hizo un gran aporte a la realizacion de la causa de la independencia en el mundo, ayudo con sinceridad la labor de los paises en vias de desarrollo para la creacion de una nueva vida, dio activo apoyo a los pueblos de los paises que luchan contra la agresion de los imperialistas y desplego dinamicas actividades para defender la causa socialista.
