Kim Il Sung's Exploits Praised
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung would shine forever with the Day of the Sun. Krasae Chanawongse, adviser to the Thai prime minister and member of the Thai Rak Thai Party, said this in a statement issued on Mar. 22 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
Kim Il Sung was a great man who left a great trace in the history of world politics, he said, and continued:
He founded the Juche idea in the first period of his embarking upon the road of revolution to clarify the way for the times and humankind to follow.
The Juche idea that man is the master of his destiny and has the strength to hew out his own destiny has served as the driving force which brought about the great change in the DPRK.
All the successes achieved in the DPRK are unthinkable without the Juche idea.
He had regarded the people as the Heaven, believed in and depended on them and devoted his all to the cause for them all his life.
He had also made immortal contributions to the accomplishment of the cause of global independence.
He is, indeed, the sun who glorified the 20th century with his great idea, outstanding leadership ability and noble virtues.
Stop to Joint Military Exercises Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Sin Hak Rim, chairman of the Federation of Media Workers Unions of south Korea, Yun Won Sok, chairman of the Internet Journalists Association of south Korea, and other co-representatives of the media section of the South Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration issued a joint statement on Mar. 24 in demand of a stop to the south Korea-U.S. large-scale joint military exercises "RSOI" and "Foal Eagle" and negotiations for conclusion of the "Free Trade Agreement" (FTA).
The "RSOI" and "Foal Eagle" joint military exercises, drills for a military attack on the north, drive the six-party talks to a rupture and hamstring the building of peace mechanism in the Korean Peninsula, the statement said, strongly demanding a stop to the reckless war exercises.
Recalling that at an open hearing regarding the "FTA" a U.S. official concerned clamoured for removal of a trade barrier in media and other fields of south Korea, the statement charged that his clamour is little short of the U.S. declaration of a war for monopoly in these fields.
The media section of the South Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration would take an active part in the all-people movement for retaking and defending the political and military, economic and cultural sovereignty of this land, stressed the statement.
Japan Warned against Disastrous Consequences of Its Anti-DPRK Campaign
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The Japanese ultra-right conservative forces are contemplating setting up two working departments for sanctions against the DPRK under the pretext of the "abduction issue" and presenting a "bill on sanctions against north Korea" to its Diet session.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard: It is an invariable intention of the Japanese ultra-right conservatives to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
They have long seriously ruffled the DPRK's feathers by crying out for pressure upon it over the "abduction issue" and the like.
To cite just a few examples, they released a statement to put sanctions upon the DPRK while setting out a five-phased "plan for economic sanctions against north Korea". They have kicked off a row after publishing and distributing even booklets on the "abduction issue".
The above-said racket kicked off by them against such backdrop goes to clearly prove that their hostile moves against the DPRK have gone to extremes.
This is nothing but an escalation of the anti-DPRK reckless hostile moves stepped up by the Japanese ultra-right conservatives in collusion with the U.S., an indication of their frantic pursuance of its line.
The DPRK has clarified more than once that it will regard any sanctions against it as a declaration of war and take a corresponding measure for self-defence.
The Korean people regard the country's sovereignty as their life and soul and will never allow anyone to infringe upon it even a bit.
Japan would be well advised to bear in mind that the above-said behavior of Japan will only lead to its self-destruction.
U.S. Blasted for Its Slander against DPRK
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The United States on March 16 in a "national security strategy report" designated again the DPRK as an "outpost of tyranny". This is an unpardonable insult, sinister slander and provocation to the dignified DPRK.
Minju Joson today observes this in a signed commentary. It says:
As soon as it took office, the Bush administration newly adopted its nuclear strategy focused on the DPRK and started posing undisguised threat of nuclear attack against the DPRK.
Under such situation where the U.S.-threatened preemptive nuclear attack was impending in actuality, the DPRK had no other option but to make a bold decision to build nuclear armed forces for self-defence.
The six-party talks, hailed by countries concerned and other countries as the most suitable way for settling the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula, could be provided thanks to the DPRK's initiative step. The adoption of the September 19, 2005, joint statement, too, was attributable to its principled and sincere pursuit and efforts.
At the crucial moment when both sides were to move in actuality toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the United States took financial sanctions against the DPRK under such unreasonable pretexts as "counterfeit notes" and "money laundry". Meanwhile, it is playing cheap tricks to shift the blame for the deadlocked six-party talks on to the DPRK.
The U.S. calculates that its aims will be attained if it throttles the DPRK, binding it hand and foot.
But, it is the DPRK's traditional way of struggle to make head-on breakthrough. The U.S. must be well aware of what it means.
Rodong Sinmun on S. Korean Authorities' Collusion with Foreign Forces
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Tuesday runs a signed article on the beginning of the large-scale RSOI and "Foal Eagle" joint military exercises under the simulated conditions to invade the north in south Korea on March 25. The Korean nation cannot pardon the south Korean warhawks to play with fire for a war of aggression in collusion with foreign forces, going against the trend of the June 15 era of reunification, the article says, and goes on:
To stage joint military exercises with foreign forces is a treacherous act of hampering national reconciliation and unity and bedeviling the north-south relations.
The south Korean authorities are staging the military drills with the United States despite our strong opposition and warning. This shows that they are seeking cooperation with outside forces, not national cooperation.
If they persist in cooperation with outside forces for a war, ignoring the basic spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, reconciliation, unity, cooperation and exchange between the north and the south cannot be smooth and the movement for national reunification cannot but undergo turns and twists.
The worsening of inter-Korean relations will not benefit the south Korean authorities themselves. If the inter-Korean relations are bedeviled, tourism to Mt. Kumgang is blocked and visit to Pyongyang stopped, they will be condemned by the south Korean people.
Their staging of the joint military exercises with outside forces is a foolish act of exerting disasters of war upon themselves.
They have launched the war drills after agreeing upon the issue of "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces in south Korea as demanded by the U.S., which is pushing the U.S. imperialist warmaniacs buoyed up by their ambition for invasion of the north to confrontation and war.
If the U.S. imperialists ignite a war against the north, south Korea will never avoid catastrophic disasters caused by it. The south Korean authorities' continuing to join the U.S. in the joint military exercises without the stand of national independence is an act of lifting an axe only to drop it on their own feet.
The south Korean warhawks will get nothing but disgrace and ruin in participating in the war exercises against the north in conspiracy with foreign forces. They should act with discretion, mindful of this.
Ground-Breaking Ceremony for Water Purification and Supply Station in Kaesong
Kaesong, March 28 (KCNA) -- A ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a water purification and supply station in the Kaesong Industrial Zone was held here on Tuesday.
Present there were Ju Tong Chan, director of the General Bureau for Central Guidance to the Development of the Special Zone, and officials concerned from the north side and Kim Jae Hyon, director of the Land Corporation, and others related to the construction of the Kaesong Industrial Zone from the south side.
Speeches were made at the ceremony.
The speakers stressed the need for the north and south to pool their efforts and wisdom in building the station, an important infrastructural project in the zone.
The participants in the ceremony looked round several objects in the zone and inspected the Koryo Museum and other places.

The primary and middle school teachers across the country are also working out detailed teaching plans for the new school year while arranging good educational environment.
The work for securing and replenishing teaching tools, school fixtures and apparatuses and facilities for experiments and practical training is being pushed ahead at the final stage in educational institutions under the state and social care.
The printing, paper-making and daily necessities factories including the Educational Books Publishing House give priority to the production of textbooks, notebooks and other school things.
Ministries and national institutions including the State Bureau for Quality Control have sent modern visual educational means to Kim Il Sung University and other universities as part of support to the educational field.
Local institutions and industrial establishments are also rendering similar support to educational institutions.
Reunification Movement Forges ahead
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are doubling their efforts for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, entering this year.
A working meeting of the Joint National Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration was held in Kaesong in February with the attendance of representatives of the north, the south and the overseas sides.
They unanimously agreed on the issue that they would intensify the movement for national reunification this year in the direction of realizing independence, peace and great national unity clarified in the north-south joint declaration.
Several organizations for reunification movement at home and abroad also resolved to do their responsibility and role in opposing the war and defending peace for the independence and reunification of the nation.
A joint press release was published by the Workers' Sub-committee of the North Side's Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and the Workers Headquarters of the South Side's Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration on March 14.
They, in the press release, stated that both sides would boost solidarity and cooperation each other and orient all the contacts and functions towards bringing about a new phase of national reunification.
Earlier, a conference of women representatives from the north and the south of Korea for implementing the June 15 joint declaration was held. The conference mentioned that the women who account for a half of Korea's population were taking charge of one of the two wheels for national reunification, calling upon the women in the north and the south to give full play to their energies, wisdom and enthusiasm in the reunification movement.
The 4th meeting of representatives of the youth and student organizations in the north and the south of Korea and overseas for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration was held in Shenyang, China, some time ago.
The meeting confirmed the orientation of the reunification movement of the youths and students in the north and the south of Korea and overseas for this year and advanced tasks and ways for defending and advancing the June 15 era against the anti-reunification forces.
The North Headquarters, the South Headquarters and the Overseas Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification adopted a joint resolution in connection with the fact that 30 years have passed since the U.S. imperialists staged the first "Team Spirit" and "Foal Eagle" joint military exercises in south Korea.
The resolution stated that they would no longer tolerate the war moves of the U.S. imperialists, calling upon all the Korean youths and students to turn out in the anti-U.S., anti-war struggle for defending the national dignity and the country.
Australian Authorities Urged to Compensate to DPRK Ship
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The education and information department of the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. made public a commentary on Mar. 7 in which it urged the Australian authorities to make an apology and compensation to the DPRK ship Pongsu that was declared not guilty.
Recalling that the Australian authorities unilaterally followed the opinion of the U.S. ultra-right body Heritage Foundation without having a proper understanding of the ship which they had impounded in April, 2003 and tried its crewmen after charging the DPRK with "drug smuggling," the commentary continued:
This is a serious insult to the DPRK. The Australian authorities should make an honest apology to it according to the results of the trial and compensate to the ship and its crewmen for the human, material and mental damage done to them.
After the outbreak of the Pongsu case the U.S. State Department in its "drug control reports" last year and this year cited it as evidence proving the DPRK's involvement in the drug smuggling.
At the trial a researcher of the foundation presented an affidavit in which he told that the DPRK government was involved in the case.
The U.S. should, at the same time, pay for floating a false report on drug smuggling to mislead the world public opinion. It should admit the mistake made in the report and make a polite apology to the DPRK.
It should stop at once charging the DPRK with drug smuggling without any evidence.
U.S. Urged to Accept DPRK's Proposal
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The Education and Information Department of the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. issued a commentary on Mar. 10 as regards the offer for settling the "issue of counterfeit notes" made by the DPRK to the Bush administration at the DPRK-U.S. New York contacts.
The commentary said:
At the contacts the Bush administration urged the DPRK to produce evidence making assurances that it would not issue any more counterfeit notes though the former failed to present any evidence proving the charge. In this connection Pyongyang suggested Washington to let the former open an account in an American bank with a view to fully settling the "issue of counterfeit notes" and set up a non-permanent consultative mechanism between the two countries to specialize in handling the problem that may surface in the future, too.
The Bush administration, however, was reluctant to give a clear answer to it and made a negative approach.
The DPRK has so far approached all talks on its own initiative from an independent and positive stand.
It would be more convenient for the Bush administration to look into an account of the DPRK in a bank operating in the U.S. than probing the DPRK's alleged use of "counterfeit notes" by taking so much trouble of traveling as far as Macao and some countries.
The DPRK made the above-said offer to relieve the Bush administration of such trouble and settle the "issue of counterfeit notes" in a transparent manner. There is no reason for the administration to refuse to accept the proposal, while uttering words of welcome to it.
The Bush administration should make a landmark option to accept the above-mentioned offer.
DPRK FM. Spokesman Urges Japan to Stop Suppression of Chongryon
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities mobilized dozens of the Osaka Prefectural riot police force on Mar. 23 to search six places including the Osaka Prefectural Association of Koreans in Commerce in Japan, shops run by Koreans and their dwelling houses on the initiative of the public security department of the Tokyo Police Agency.
On top of this, the Japanese authorities retracted the measure to exempt the Central Hall, the hall of Tokyo Metropolitan headquarters and the press hall of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) from municipal property tax and impounded them. And they intensified financial pressure to disorganize Chongryon, scheming to totally withdraw the measure for exempting all facilities related to Chongryon across the country from municipal property tax of local autonomous bodies under the pretext of "strict application of the existing law".
A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry in a statement Tuesday warned that the DPRK will certainly take full stock of the suppression of Chongryon and Korean residents in Japan that has systematically been perpetrated under the direct manipulation of the Japanese government and strongly counter it.
The Japanese government is legally and morally obliged to ensure Chongryon's activities and protect the living of Koreans in Japan from the historical viewpoint, the spokesman said, and continued:
The Japanese prime minister repeatedly clarified his stand to friendly treat the Koreans in Japan so as not to discriminate them when adopting the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and on other occasions. The Japanese government, too, reaffirmed this at the talks on the normalization of relations between the DPRK and Japan held in Beijing early in February.
However, Japan, a so-called constitutional state, perpetrated fascist suppression of Chongryon and Korean residents in Japan in a gangster-like way by setting state power in motion while deliberately linking the already settled "abduction issue" to Chongryon. It also tries to put pressure upon the DPRK. This is really mean and ridiculous act.
Chongryon is a legitimate overseas Koreans' organization of the DPRK which defends all the democratic national rights of Koreans in Japan and it plays the role of a diplomatic mission which promotes friendship with the Japanese people, given that there is no diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The suppression of such dignified organization and Koreans in Japan cannot be construed otherwise than a wanton violation of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and an unpardonable infringement upon the sovereignty of the DPRK.
The Japanese authorities can never evade their responsibility for the serious consequences to be entailed by their sinister acts.
