DPRK Holidays Marked in Bangladesh

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The Bangladeshi preparatory committee for commemorating the April holiday published a special bulletin on Apr. 4 to commemorate the Day of the Sun, the 13th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and the 74th anniversary of the Korean People's Army. Noting that President Kim Il Sung performed immortal feats for the era and history, made a great contribution to the accomplishment of the human cause of independence and received many orders, medals and honorary titles from different countries and international organizations, the bulletin highly praised his personality as a great man. It said that Kim Jong Il resolutely smashed the moves of the U.S. and its allied imperialist forces to isolate and stifle the DPRK with his unique Songun politics and successfully defended the sovereignty of the country and the dignity of the nation. It praised the heroic Korean People's Army holding him in high esteem as the supreme commander for winning victory after victory.

Single-minded Unity of Korea Praised

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- A seminar, a lecture and a reading session took place in Sofia, Kampala and Kinshasa between March 31 and April 5 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the 13th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK. The first secretary of the Sofia City Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party who is member of the Party Central Committee in a report at the seminar highly praised President Kim Il Sung for founding the immortal Juche idea and performing great exploits for the Korean revolution and the cause of global independence with his energetic leadership.
    Kim Jong Il who has developed in depth the idea of Songun laid down by Kim Il Sung, the father of socialist Korea, is the iron-willed commander who is defending socialism and reliably protecting the security of the country and the people with the might of Songun, the reporter added.
    The secretary general of the African Regional Committee of Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People in a lecture titled "Songun politics and single-minded unity of Korea" said that the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il has further strengthened the single-minded unity of the army and the people. Invincible is Korea where the leader, the army and the people form the community of destiny, he stressed. The chairman of the Group for the Study of Kim Jong Il Juche Idea of Democratic Congo said at the reading session that thanks to Kim Jong Il, the revolutionary ideas of Kim Il Sung are shining as the banner of eternal victory of the Korean revolution, the guiding idea of humankind and Korea is demonstrating its might as a powerful state. He expressed his determination to make positive efforts to intensify the study and dissemination of the Juche idea in the future, too.

Events Held to Mark Kim Jong Il's Election as NDC Chairman

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Events were held on April 9 to mark the 13th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission. Dancing parties of youth and students in Pyongyang were held in different parts of the city including plazas of the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Monument to Party Founding and Pyongyang Indoor Stadium.
    They were replete with the joy and happiness of holding Kim Jong Il, son of guerrillas and peerless commander of Songun, in high esteem as the supreme leader of the revolution. They danced to the tune of such songs as "Confetti of Best Wishes," "Let's Sing of Our Pride in Being under the Guidance of the General", "Our General Is Best", "Thunder on Jong Il Peak", and "Let's Sing of General Dear to People". Dancing parties of youth and students were also held in different provincial seats, cities and counties.
    A performance was given by the central youth art squad at the Central Youth Hall. The performers truthfully represented the pride and happiness of being blessed with the illustrious leaders generation after generation in such colorful numbers as chorus and dance "Glory to General Kim Jong Il", male solo "The General Is Son of Guerillas", dance "Very Ambitious Girls" and poem and chorus "All Servicepersons and People Will Become Human Bullets and Bombs".
    A dancing party of members of the Korean Democratic Women's Union was also held at the plaza of the Tower of the Juche Idea.
    Its participants danced to the tune of such songs as "Fortune of Korea", "Song of Three Prides", "Inspired by the General, Who Is a Crack Shot, We Never Miss Targets," "Let's Advance Faster for Higher Goal" representing their firm faith and will to uphold Kim Jong Il with loyalty.

Pro-U.S. Forces' Treachery Flailed in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly made public a statement on April 5 denouncing the Grand National Party and the conservative media for zealously supporting the U.S. in its moves for a war against the north. The statement said:
    The Defence Ministry complained to the police all the participants in the demonstration staged in protest against the joint landing exercises on the charge of "disturbing the performance of special duty." On April 4 GNP Representative Pak Kun Hye addressing its "Supreme Committee" demanded the "government" take a strong action against the participants in the demonstration.
    The conservative media including Chosun Ilbo, chiming in with her outcry, released only misinformation about the demonstration, falsifying the truth that the recent joint military exercises were aimed at invading the north.
    The anti-U.S., anti-war action of the participants in the demonstration was a patriotic resistance reflecting the desire for national unity and reunification, the statement noted, strongly demanding the ministry immediately withdraw the charge brought against them.

U.S. Offensive to Stifle DPRK Flailed in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity of south Korea reportedly held a press conference near Kwanghwamun in Seoul on April 5 to denounce the ever-more undisguised offensive of the United States to stifle the DPRK. Figures from different organizations under the Reunification Solidarity made speeches to be followed by the recital of a press release. It accused the U.S. of spreading sheer lies to tighten financial sanctions against the north while putting the brake on the affairs of the Kaesong Industrial Zone. The real criminal state is the U.S. which has interfered with the north's economic activities by setting afloat fictions, it noted, and continued: The U.S. offensive to stifle the DPRK is a quite dangerous act to totally scuttle the six-party talks and drive the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of a war. Dialogue is incompatible with pressure.
    If the U.S. has the willingness to seek a peaceful settlement to the "Korean Peninsula" issue, it should stop the offensive at once and sincerely implement the joint statement adopted at the fourth round of the six-party talks.

24th April Spring Friendship Art Festival Opens

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The 24th April Spring Friendship Art Festival was opened in Pyongyang on Monday. As dusk fell, the festively decorated Pyongyang Grand Theatre, the venue of its inaugural ceremony, and streets adjacent to it were brightly lit. Flags of the festival were seen fluttering and its posters displayed at the plaza of the theatre. There a women's brass band played merry music with attracting rhythms while dancers in graceful national costumes presented beautiful dances and acrobats colorful numbers.
    Present at the opening ceremony were Vice-President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly Yang Hyong Sop, Minister of Culture Kim Jin Song who is chairman of the organizing committee of the festival and other officials concerned, working people and artistes in the city.
    Also present were foreign artistes and overseas Korean artistes, the Chinese government cultural delegation and other foreign delegations and delegates participating in the festival, honorary guests of the festival, foreign diplomatic envoys and embassy officials here and foreign guests and overseas Koreans staying in Pyongyang.
    Kim Jin Song in an opening address said that it is the pleasure of the Korean people and the pride of humankind to have such a friendly stage of world-level in Pyongyang as the April Spring Friendship Art Festival which brought together the men of culture and arts from different parts of the world aspiring after genuine arts so that they might have the opportunity to loudly sing of the songs of independence, peace and friendship and enrich human culture and arts.
    The festival would provide its participants with chances to present diverse and peculiar programs representing the shining achievements made by various countries, nations and regions of the world in the cultural development and thus enrich genuine human civilization and emotion and give strong impetus to the development of human culture, he noted.
    He expressed the belief that the festival would encourage the development of human culture and the just cause of the popular masses.
    Oleg Oleinik, president of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of Arts for the Century" who is heading its delegation, in a congratulatory speech said that the Korean people, guided by the immortal Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung, the eternal sun of Korea, are fully determined to defend the sovereignty of the country and apply the idea of independence, peace and friendship, the centuries-old desire of humankind.
    The last instructions of Kim Il Sung, the father of socialist Korea and the great man of the century, are being successfully carried out under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il and the feats performed by Kim Il Sung are highly appreciated by the world, he noted.
    He said that participating in the festival he once again keenly realized the invincible might displayed by the Korean people under the leadership of Kim Jong Il. Foreign and Korean artistes hoisted the flag of the festival amid the playing of the song "Brilliant Country" in the theatre.

Gift to Kim Jong Il from Chinese Delegation

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by the Chinese government cultural delegation on a visit to the DPRK. The gift was handed to Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, by Ding Wei, assistant to the minister of Culture who is heading the delegation, on Monday.

Kim Il Sung's Immortal Exploits in Environmental Protection

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Twenty years have passed since President Kim Il Sung made public the famous work "On Improving the Work of Protecting the Environment" on April 10, Juche75(1986), the day following the adoption of the "Law on Environmental Protection of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea". The President, in his work, advanced detailed tasks and ways for improving the work of protecting the environment. The Korean people take this opportunity to look back on the efforts the President, with an ardent patriotism, had bent to provide them with better living environment. After the country's liberation he paid a deep attention to the work of restoring the destroyed environment and improving people's working and living conditions. He saw to it to take positive steps for protecting the health of workers and residents from poisonous gas and harmful labor.
    In those days when even one ton of steel was badly needed for the building of a new country, he said that no matter how valuable steel was, it could not be bartered for the lives of workers. And he determinedly instructed officials to blast away primitive furnaces.
    He had always directed the primary attention to the environmental protection in building even a dwelling house or a factory.

Colorfully Decorated Flower Festival Venue

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The 8th Kimilsungia Festival will take place in the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition Hall in Pyongyang from April 13 to 20. The festival venue is now being decorated to suit festival theme "Eternal Spring Holiday of Humankind".
    All the exhibition stands are being arranged with electric photo boards reflecting images of the three generals of Mt. Paektu as the center.
    The backgrounds of the stands to be arranged by military organs, ministries, national institutions and many other units are adorned mainly with flowers. The stands are designed to make Kimilsungia, the immortal flower, more conspicuous in every way and to depict the historical native home in Mangyongdae and others with rare flowers and plants, thus stirring up the festival atmosphere replete with boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung.
    The inside of the festival venue is bedecked with sorts of flowers including azaleas and apricot flowers blooming early in spring and various decorative facilities. The annual festival has developed year by year in formative and artistic way, unfolding beautiful scenes beyond description.

2006-2008 Plan for Cultural Exchange between DPRK and China Inked

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The 2006-2008 plan for cultural exchange between the governments of the DPRK and China was signed here on Monday. Present at the signing ceremony from the DPRK side were Jon Hyon Chan, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and other officials concerned and from the Chinese side the members of the Chinese government cultural delegation headed by Ding Wei, assistant to the minister of Culture, and Zhang Yongwen, cultural councilor of the Chinese embassy here. The plan was signed by Jon Hyon Chan and Ding Wei.

Banquet for Participants in Art Festival

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The organizing committee of the 24th April Spring Friendship Art Festival gave a banquet for the participants in the festival at the Yanggakdo International Hotel Sunday. Invited to the banquet were foreign artistes, overseas Korean artistes and delegations. On hand were Minister of Culture Kim Jin Song who is chairman of the festival organizing committee, vice-chairmen of the organizing committee and officials concerned. Kim Jong Il Inspects Sub-Unit of KPA Unit 205

     Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 205 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. He acquainted himself with the sub-unit's performance of duty before watching its servicepersons in training in a combined training hall. He set forth tasks to be tackled by the sub-unit to further increase its combat capability, expressing his satisfaction over the fact that it has improved the quality of the training by contriving and using efficient training apparatuses.
    He said that intensifying the military and political training is a basic way of building up matchless military power and the master key to preparing the soldiers as a-match-for-a hundred combatants, praising the sub-unit for having successfully built the military lecture rooms for practical use in a peculiar style and effectively operated them to train all the officers and soldiers into competent fighters. Then he went round an education room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a wash-cum-bath house, a barber's, a non-staple food store and other places to take deep care of the service and living of its servicepersons.
    He expressed great satisfaction and high appreciation to the commanding officers and soldiers of the sub-unit for having kept the inside and outside of the barracks neat and tidy like a rest home and constructed modern entertainment and educational and supply service facilities.
    Only those who know well about the beauty of the country and love it can lay down their lives to the fight for the Party and the leader, the country and the people without hesitation, he noted, and went on:
    The KPA intensely loyal to the WPK has brought about a signal turn not only in the ideological traits and morality and the military and political training but in its appearance as regular forces and the management of its units and all other aspects, thereby admirably performing its vanguard role as the main force of the revolution. These precious exploits performed by the heroic KPA provide a sure guarantee for winning the victory in the Juche-oriented revolution, he added. He gave the servicepersons of the sub-unit a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.

    　Pyongyang, 10 de abril (ATCC) -- El Comandante Supremo Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, inspecciono la subunidad de formacion de tanquistas y choferes de carros blindados, adscrita a la Unidad no. 604 del Ejercito Popular de Corea. Tras informarse del cumplimiento del deber de ella, presencio desde una atalaya un entrenamiento de los uniformados.
    Los militares le demostraron sin reserva la combatividad que adquirieron al prepararse capaces de cumplir satisfactoriamente cualquier mision en cualesquier circunstancias a traves de sus constantes ejercicios practicos, desarrollados en fiel acato a la indicacion del Comandante Supremo de que la mejora de la capacidad de transporte y traslado de las unidades deviene una importante demanda de la guerra moderna. El Comandante Supremo mostro su gran satisfaccion de que la subunidad formo un gran numero de calificados tanquistas y choferes de carros blindados al luchar energicamente por materializar consecuentemente la orientacion del partido sobre los ejercicios tras acondicionar un magnifico campo de entrenamiento conforme al contenido y caracteristicas de esta labor en si misma.
    Acto seguido, recorrio las salas de leccion militar para cerciorarse en detalles de la educacion a los aprendices.
    Es muy loable que la subunidad educara sustancialmente a todos los aprendices en estas salas capaces de darles en lo suficiente conocimientos necesarios en una guerra real, elogio y subrayo que es preciso implantar el juche en la educacion militar para preparar a todos los efectivos como combatientes que puedan aniquilar a solas a cien enemigos.
    Luego, paso revista a la sala de educacion, comedor, cocina, bano, almacen de alimentos subsidiarios, corral y otros lugares de la subunidad prestando profunda atencion al trabajo y la vida de los uniformados.
    Se puso muy contento de que la subunidad preparo excelentes condiciones de vida a los soldados al construir suficientes instalaciones de cultura, educacion e intendencia y alabo el revolucionario estilo de lucha y vida de ellos quienes organizan hacendosamente la vida economica aplicando el metodo administrativo de destacamentos de la Guerrilla Antijaponesa.

Funcion inaugural en el teatro Morambong remodelado

    　Pyongyang, 10 de abril (ATCC) -- Con motivo del Dia del Sol (15 de abril, cumpleanos del Presidente Kim Il Sung), se inauguro el teatro Morambong remodelado excelentemente como una creacion de patrimonio nacional de la epoca del Songun (priorizacion militar). 　El teatro situado en la colina Moran adquirio la forma y el contenido arquitectonicos renovados a nivel supremo y doto a la perfeccion formativa de la escena, graderia, salas de entrenamiento y maquillaje y otras instalaciones impresionantes. 　El teatro fue construido despues de la liberacion de la patria por la iniciativa del Presidente Kim Il Sung.
    　El dirigio en este lugar la cuarta y quinta sesiones plenarias del Comite Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, las 73 sesiones de la Asamblea Popular Suprema, la conferencia conjunta de representantes de partidos politicos y entidades sociales del Norte y el Sur de Corea y otras importantes reuniones del Partido y el Estado y presencio y dirigio funciones artisticas y labores exteriores en mas de 200 ocasiones en total.
    　En la primera sesion de la Asamblea Popular Suprema efectuada aqui el camarada Kim Il Sung fue electo jefe de Estado por la unanime aprobacion de todo el pueblo coreano y fue dada a conocer a todo el mundo la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    　Se ofrecio el dia 9 una funcion inaugural del teatro Morambong por la Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional.
    　Se interpretaron el cuarto movimiento "Gloria al General" de la suite sinfonica "Larguisimo camino del Songun", las musicas orquestales: "Trueno del pico Jongil", "Arirang", "Puerto Mungyong", "Abundante cosecha en la llanura Chongsan", "Que se mantenga la noche de Pyongyang", "melodia de Italia", "coleccion de melodias famosas" y otras.
    　La funcion de alto nivel ideo-artistico demostro patentemente la justeza de la orientacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea en materia de literatura y arte por su fuerte matiz nacional y lo rico y fino en interpretaciones de la orquesta combinada autoctona.
    　La presenciaron Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Jon Pyong Ho, Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop y otros diputados a la Asamblea Popular Suprema, asi como Ho Jong Man, vicepresidente responsable del Presidium del Comite Central de la Asociacion General de Coreanos Residentes en Japon (Chongryon) y otros diputados a la APS de esta entidad ultramarina.

Se coronara de mil maravillas el festival de Kimilsungias

    　Pyongyang, 10 de abril (ATCC) -- La capitalina Exposicion Permanente de Kimilsungia y Kimjongilia sera la sede del VIII Festival de Kimilsungias que se extendera del 13 al 20 de abril. Conforme a la tematica de la octava edicion "La eterna fiesta primaveral de la humanidad", el lugar se adorna con colores peculiares y diferentes a los de eventos anteriores.
    Para ser distinguidas a primera vista, en el centro de todas las tarimas se situaran las grandes fotos de los 3 Generales del monte Paektu dotadas de luminicos electricos. Nuevas flores ambientaran armoniosamente el trasfondo de los mostradores que preparan numerosas entidades, entre otras, las instituciones de fuerzas armadas, ministerios y organos centrales.
    Estos mostradores, que describen con raras flores y plantas varios lugares y figuras como la historica casa natal de Mangyongdae dando mayor destaque a la flor Kimilsungia, llevaran al climax el ya calido clima del festival por el infinito elogio al Presidente Kim Il Sung.
    A tono de la esplendida estacion primaveral, en que tiene lugar todos los anos este evento tradicional, el interior de la sede ya fue adornado hermosamente con azaleas, flores de albaricoque y objetos decorativos bien encajados.
    Al igual que en anteriores ediciones, los concurrentes volveran a caerse en un mundo de mil maravillas recorriendo el lugar del festival coronado con las flores mezcladas de colores rosado y violeta oscuros (Kimilsungias), florecidas con antelacion nutriendose de infinita veneracion hacia el Presidente.
