Book on DPRK Published in Italy

     Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- The Group of Dialectical Materialists of Italy brought out a booklet titled "Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il and the Korean Revolution" on April 9. Noting that April 9 is the day of Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, the booklet said that his election brought about the greatest success in the struggle of the Korean people to defend socialism and build a powerful country.
    He has defended socialism and protected the security of the Korean people with the might of Songun, it said.
    Thanks to his Songun politics, the DPRK has countered the hard-line policy of the U.S. styling itself "the only super power" in the world with the toughest stand, thus defending its dignity and sovereignty, it said, adding that the Korean revolution under his leadership will always emerge victorious.

Korean Books Donated to Malaysia

     Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- Korean books including President Kim Il Sung's reminiscences "With the Century", "Kim Il Sung' s Works" and "Kim Jong Il's Selected Works" were donated to Malaysia with due ceremony on April 3. At the ceremony held at the Malaysian Political Research Centre the books were conveyed to its executive director.
    He said that the famous works of the peerlessly great persons would serve as precious textbooks for the centre.
    Noting that the appearance of the DPRK standing firm in the confrontation with the U.S. over the nuclear issue is giving great strength and inspiration to the staff of the centre, he stressed that the centre would work hard to help the international community know well about the just stand of the DPRK in the future. He wished the Korean people great success in their struggle to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and achieve national reunification under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

S. Korean Unionists Demonstrate against FTA

     Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- At least 10,000 members of the Federation of IT Trade Unions participating in the general strike called by different unions under the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions staged a Cyber demonstration against the conclusion of FTA between south Korea and the U.S. on April 11, according to the south Korean KBS. That day, they were reported to have sent 30,000 e-mails opposing the negotiations for the conclusion of FTA to the White House, Congress and others through Internet.

Reception Given by Cuban Military Attache

     Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- Giraldo Abreu Morales, military attache of the Cuban embassy here, hosted a reception at the embassy on Friday on the occasion of the 74th birthday of the heroic Korean People's Army. Speeches were made at the reception.
    Present there on invitation were KPA officers and Cuban Ambassador Ruben Perez Valdes was on hand.

GNP's Desperate Efforts to Return to Power Blasted

     Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- "Veteran members" of the Grand National Party of south Korea were reported to have received hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars in bribes in connection with the "nomination of candidates of the party." Rodong Sinmun today observes in a signed commentary in this regard: This fact clearly proves that the "GNP"'s true colors as a corrupt party and a treacherous political party remain unchanged. It is a group of despicable political charlatans engrossed in irregularities and corruption.
    As its nicknames such as a "party embezzling truckloads of money", a "party corrupt from its inception, a "party of thieves," and others it earned for its election frauds tell, corruption and moral vulgarity are peculiar to the GNP.
    These can be called incurable diseases that torment the GNP unless it is buried underground.

Gift to Kim Jong Il from CPC Delegation

     Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by the visiting delegation of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China led by Secretary-General Zeng Wei. The gift was handed to an official concerned by the head of the delegation.

Rodong Sinmun on Three-point Patriotic Movement

     Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article says that the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity is a revelation of the ardent patriotism of the Korean nation. Noting that despite the outrageous and vicious challenge and obstruction of separatists at home and abroad the three-point patriotic movement is vigorously advancing, the article goes on:
    The reality is unthinkable without the patriotic enthusiasm and will of the fellow countrymen.
    Patriotism without reunification cannot be spoken of in Korea divided into two. Without independence reunification cannot be achieved nor can patriotism be displayed. Independent reunification precisely means patriotism and the struggle for independent reunification is the most patriotic one. The struggle for independent reunification to achieve independence of the nation is an expression of patriotism. The movement for peace against war is, indeed, the patriotic struggle of justice today when the U.S. imperialists are seeking to exert nuclear holocaust upon the heads of our nation.
    It is impossible to achieve independent reunification and peace against war without the great unity of the Korean nation. The great national unity helps achieve independent reunification and peace against war.
    It is patriotism to aspire after great national unity and it is treachery to hinder it. Koreans can no longer live in the pain resulting from division and the danger of a war. The Korean nation should pool its ardent patriotic will to dynamically open up a new history of independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity.

Corea: Fenomeno climatico anormal

    　Pyongyang, 21 de abril (ATCC) -- El 19, dia anterior a "Kok-u" que es la sexta de las 24 divisiones del ano que se transmiten desde antiguedad en Corea, cayo gran cantidad de nieve en toda la extension de la costa oriental. 　"Kok-u" pertenece a la temporada de la caida de lluvia favorable al crecimiento de las plantas agricolas.
    　Pero, cayo mucha nieve en vez de la lluvia.
    　La zona costera de la provincia de Kangwon ha sido mas abundante en las precipitaciones.
    　La ciudad de Wonsan registro 23 cm de alto de nieve caida de la una a las 17 y la pluviosidad, de 62 mm, cifra mas elevada en la historia de la observacion meteorologica del dia referido.
    　La altura de nieve caida en la ciudad de Munchon, los distritos de Kosan y Anbyon es de 18, 20 y 14 cm, respectivamente, y la pluviosidad es de 62, 69 y 41 mm. 　Tambien en las zonas montanosas incluso los distritos de Sepho y Popdong cayo gran cantidad de aguanieve.
    　La ciudad de Chongjin y los distritos de Musan y Sonbong de la provincia de Hamgyong del Norte y el distrito de Jangjin de la provincia de Hamgyong del Sur registraron 12, 20, 11 y 17 cm de alto de nieve, respectivamente. 　Los meteorologos dijeron que la caida de nieve de mucha cantidad, siendo fenomeno climatico anormal raramente visto en la temporada primaveral, dara grandes danos a las semillas que comienzan a brotar.
