Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Famous Work Marked

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- A scientific seminar took place at the People's Palace of Culture on May 11 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the publication of leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "On Popularizing Physical Training and Sport and Developing Sporting Skills Rapidly". Kim Jong Il in the work published on May 19, Juche 75 (1986) laid down the popularization of sports as the main direction of sports development and set forth highly important guidelines for sports to help toward the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche.
    The seminar was addressed by Mun Jae Dok, chairman of the Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Committee, Ri Pang Yon, director general of the Sports Publishing House, Ri Kwang Hak, secretary of the Central Committee of the youth league, Kwak Nam Mo, president of Korean University of Physical Education, and others.
    They said that Kim Jong Il's idea on developing sports techniques with Juche-oriented stand in conformity with the reality of Korea, the physical character of the Korean nation and the aspiration and demand of the people serves as guidelines of sports development which help defend Juche character and national identity in sports and win victory in all international games.
    They called for developing sports techniques in Korean style to give fullest play to the advantages of the nation and applying the revolutionary soldier spirit to all sports fields.
    They also called for acquiring and carrying through the sports idea and line clarified by Kim Jong Il in the work so as to develop the sports of the country on to a new higher stage as required by the Songun era.
    Present there were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kwak Pom Gi, vice-premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, and others.

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Tong Je was appointed as DPRK ambassador to Libya, according to a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly.

Iranian Embassy Officials Visit E-Library

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Ambassador Jalaleddin Namini Mianji and staff members of the Iranian embassy here Thursday visited the E-Library of Kim Chaek University of Technology on the occasion of a week for DPRK-Iran friendship. They went round reading rooms, remote controlled-lecture hall and other rooms, being briefed on the fact that all the services at the library, from the retrieval of booklists to reading books and data and lectures, are computerized.
    After the visit the ambassador expressed belief that the Korean people would surely build a great prosperous powerful nation by developing science and technology under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Brutal Suppression of Protesters in S. Korea under Fire

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Different organizations in south Korea and overseas Koreans' organizations reportedly released statements to denounce the south Korean military and police for their merciless crackdown upon civilian protesters in the area of Phyongthaek. The south Korean Christian Youth and Students Association accused the military police of tramping civilian protesters under their jackboots and walking away them on May 5, shamelessly asserting that reasons for their arrest may be given later.
    It strongly demanded the authorities withdraw the designating of "the area as a zone for the protection of military facilities", probe the truth behind the inhuman crackdown and release all those arrested.
    Civic and social, religious and youth and student organizations in Suwon, Kyonggi Province including the Suwon City Buddhist Association, the Suwon Environmental Movement Centre and the Suwon Women's Society in a joint statement declared they could no longer trust the "government" authorities as they trampled down upon the people's right to existence by mobilizing military and police forces.
    The Headquarters in the U.S. of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification voiced its strong opposition to the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek threatening the peace on the Korean Peninsula. And it demanded the south Korean "government" decisively reject the U.S. unreasonable pressure for the expansion and immediately halt its crackdown upon the patriotic forces opposed to the expansion.

Rodong Sinmun on Effective Socialist Political Mode

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The Juche idea is a unique political philosophy, a revolutionary philosophy as it provides principles and methodology for leading the revolution and construction along the road of victory. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
    The unique Songun political mode of the Workers' Party of Korea was set out in the course of the revolutionary practices for embodying the Juche idea and the revolution and construction in the DPRK are making dynamic progress despite any difficulties and ordeals thanks to the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, the article notes, and continues:
    The Songun politics of the WPK is the most scientific political mode as it is a comprehensive embodiment of the principles, method and requirements of the Juche idea.
    The Songun leadership of the WPK embodies the principle of the Juche idea which calls for achieving and protecting independence of the country and the nation.
    President Kim Il Sung taught the profound principle of revolution long ago that a country can emerge victorious in the revolution, safeguard the triumphant revolution and independently carve out the destiny of the country and the nation when it has strong revolutionary armed forces as the popular masses' cause of independence, the cause of socialism is accompanied by a military confrontation with the counterrevolutionary forces including imperialism, and wisely led the revolution and construction.
    The Juche-oriented principle of revolution laid down by the President has been successfully applied to practice thanks to the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il.
    The Songun politics of the WPK fully embodies the principle of the Juche idea which calls for bolstering up the driving force of the revolution and speeding up the revolution and construction.

Candlelight Function Held in Seoul

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Activists of civic and social organizations including the Seoul Council of Measures against the Expansion of the U.S. Military Base in Phyongthaek reportedly held a candlelight function in front of the head office of Dong-A Ilbo in Kwanghwamun in Seoul on May 8. Speakers including Kim Tok Jin, director general of the "Catholic Human Rights Committee", deplored with anger that the paddy and dry fields and all other things in Phyongthaek were destroyed by troops, police and gangsters in charge of eviction.
    Noting that inhabitants in Phyongthaek and members of civic and social organizations came out in actions at the risk of their lives to protect the peace in this land, they urged the authorities to pay heed to the south Korean people's just demand, not to the demand of the U.S. forces, though belatedly.
    We will join the patriotic forces in Phyongthaek in the actions to check the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek and fight to the last in defiance of any suppression by the authorities, they declared, appealing to the citizens to positively respond to it.

Dangerous Moves to Revise Japan-U.S. Defense Cooperation Guidelines under Fire

   Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Japan and the United States are contemplating to revise the "Japan-U.S. defense cooperation guidelines" adopted in 1997. It is said that the guidelines to be revised contain the issue of expanding tie-ups between the two countries in overseas military operations under the signboard of "peace-keeping", the development of the MD system and the collection and exchange of information materials. Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed article terms the new guidelines a U.S.-Japan joint aggressive military action program which is drawn up to launch a worldwide "war on terrorism".
    The article goes on:
    The Japanese reactionaries framed up the guidelines in 1978 and used them as a tool for aggression against the former Soviet Union. But after the end of the Cold War the guidelines cannot go down with the latter. While talking about the DPRK's non-existent "missile threat" and "suspected underground nuclear facilities" in 1999, they adopted laws concerning guidelines under the pretext of countering them. With this they have regained the right of belligerency they gave up in terms of the constitution and laid a legal ground for overseas aggression.
    Their attempt to revise the guidelines is pursuant to the intensified moves of the U.S. and Japan for military integration in the new century.
    In recent years the U.S. and Japan have further completed the framework for aggressive alliance. And they have pushed forward the joint development of the MD system. They have escalated joint military exercises and stepped up the realignment of the U.S. forces in Japan. This has turned the combination of the commands of the three services of the U.S. and Japan and the integration of their commanding system into reality. The U.S. and the Japanese reactionaries are now seeking to revise the guidelines to suit it.
    One of the U.S. major objectives in the revision of the guidelines is to use the Japanese armed forces in carrying out its "anti-terrorist war" strategy.
    Meanwhile, the Japanese reactionaries are keen to finally examine and complete their preparations for reinvasion of Korea with the revision of the guidelines.
    The present guidelines are the Japan-U.S. common scenario for a new war of aggression on Korea and relevant laws are to legalize the scenario.
    The aggressors against the DPRK will certainly face death and ruin.

KCNA Terms U.S. World's Biggest Illegal Dealer

   Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The international community is becoming increasingly critical of the U.S. for being a kingpin of illegal transaction. Internet homepage Conspiracy Planet on April 26 disclosed that American banks have laundered illicit money to the tune of 500 billion U.S. dollars every year. But for such illicit money laundering the U.S. economy would have long gone bankrupt, it observed.
    The April 14 issue of the Austrian newspaper Die Presse quoting a paper presented in the Netherlands reported that the U.S. tops the world's list of dirty money laundering and almost half of it circulated worldwide originated from the U.S.
    The above-said criticism is by no means fortuitous.
    Illicit money laundering and other illegal transactions represent deeply rooted bad habits and an incurable disease in the capitalist American society where the struggle for survival based on jungle law is justified and all sorts of crimes are rampant.
    The criminal organizations in the U.S. are raking in a ridiculous amount of illicit money through a variety of leverage such as fraud and swindle, robbery, prostitution, drug and weapon dealing, smuggling of vehicles, flesh traffic and deal in false securities. They are reinvesting this money in the U.S. economy and buying up many gay quarters and companies in the fields of textile, building, transport and foodstuff, etc., amassing their fortune. Those organizations leave no means untried to achieve their aims. They bribe financial bodies and officials of the administration and perpetrate violence against their rivals.
    According to information available, the organization known as OK Group earns tens of billions of U.S. dollars annually through such crimes or 1.1 per cent of the gross output value in the U.S.
    It is not hard to guess what stupendous amount the illicit fund has reached and what is keeping U.S. economy afloat, given the fact that a number of criminal organizations in the U.S. are accumulating their wealth by such methods.
    This being a hard reality, any big bank in the U.S. can hardly operate even a single day without such illegal financial sources and this enables criminal organizations to lord it over everything inside the country.
    What merits a more serious attention is that the U.S. administration and the political circle are deeply involved in illegal transaction and dirty money laundering.
    As already reported, one of the leaders of the Republican Party Tom was forced to quit the political arena due to various scandals in April. A close associate of Bush, this guy was reported to have been involved in the illicit money laundering while having close relations with monopoly plutocrats. He was said to have embezzled money through illegal dealing on account of fund raising for the election campaign of the party.
    It was disclosed that the Enron which had spent a lot of money for Bush's election campaign accumulated a ridiculous amount of money through illicit money laundering, sparking off a big political furor.
    Hideous scams that break out in the U.S. more often than not are an inevitable result of the reactionary American-style financial oligarchy as the state power and economic lifeline are in the clutches of the monopoly capitalists.
    The U.S. ruling quarters are offsetting financial deficits amounting to hundreds of billions of U.S. dollars resulting from the reckless operation of war economy through the circulation of such dirty money.

Great King of Cambodia Leaves Pyongyang

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Great King of Cambodia Norodom Sihanouk left Pyongyang by a special plane on May 12. He was seen off at the airport by Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, and Kim Yong Il, vice Foreign Minister.
    Out at the airport were members of the Cambodian embassy, diplomatic envoys of different countries and a representative of an international organization.
    Members of the Cambodian embassy presented bouquets to the Great King and the Great Queen.
    The Great King expressed thanks for the warm friendly feelings of the Korean people toward the Cambodian people and the hospitality accorded him during his stay before getting aboard the plane.

Kobangsan Mineral Spring Good for Health Discovered

    Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Kobangsan mineral spring was recently found out in Kapmun-dong, Taesong District, Pyongyang. It is popular among citizens for its various ingredients good for health. According to an analysis made by a relevant research institute, the calcium and magnesium of the mineral water are five and ten times those of ordinary drinking water respectively.
    It contains 174.1 mg of Ca, 94.2 mg of Mg, 39.6 mg of Na+K and 40 mg of Fe per liter. Its total content of mineral substances is 1,151 mg per liter.
    The mineral spring is specially good for children's health. It prevents children's anemia caused by iron deficiency.

EE.UU. es el peor traficante ilegal del mundo, comenta ATCC

    Pyongyang, 12 de mayo (ATCC) -- En estos dias, resuena en el ambito internacional la opinion publica desenmascarando que Estados Unidos es el peor negociante ilegal del mundo. La pagina web del Internet "Conspiracy Planet" revelo el 26 de abril que los bancos norteamericanos lavan cada ano 500 mil millones de US$ y comento que sin el blanqueo del dinero mal habido la economia de EE.UU. ya se hubiera quebrado hace mucho tiempo.
    Con anterioridad, citando los argumentos de un trabajo publicado en Holanda, el rotativo austriaco "Die Presse" del 14 de abril ratifico que hoy dia, a escala mundial, EE.UU. ocupa el primer lugar en el lavado del dinero y casi la mitad de todos los fondos ilegales del mundo se genera precisamente en este pais.
    Pues, el lavado del dinero y otras formas de transacciones ilegales constituyen el vicio cronico y el mal incurable de la sociedad de EE.UU. donde es justificada la competencia por la supervivencia segun la ley de selva y se reportan a cada momento los crimenes de todo tipo.
    En particular, las organizaciones delictivas de EE.UU. se apropian de sumas astronomicas del dinero mediante la estafa, el atraco, la prostitucion, el narcotrafico, la venta ilegal de armas, automoviles y seres humanos, las transacciones de valores falsificados, etc.
    Luego, para enriquecer sus bienes las invierten en comprar un gran numero de negocios de diversion y firmas de textura, construccion, transporte y gastronomia.
    Para este fin, no reparan en metodos y medios como que sobornan a los funcionarios del circulo financiero y de la administracion y usan la violencia contra sus rivales.
    Segun una informacion disponible, el ingreso anual de la organizacion conocida como "Grupo OK" a traves de esas actividades delictivas asciende a decenas de miles de millones de US$, cifra que ocupa 1.1 % del PIB de EE.UU.
    Entonces resulta facil adivinar la magnitud del dinero en transacciones ilegales en EE.UU. y lo que sostiene la economia de este pais.
    Por lo tanto, los grandes bancos norteamericanos se daran en bancarrota si son cortadas sus fuentes de finanzas ilicitas y las organizaciones delictivas se pasean libremente en su "reino por encima del Estado".
    Lo mas grave del caso es que la misma administracion y el circulo politico de EE.UU. tienen sus manos bien metidas en negocios ilicitos, inclusive el blanqueo del dinero.
    Como ya se reporto, en abril ultimo, Tom, uno de los dirigentes del partido republicano y colaborador de confianza de Bush, tuvo que retirarse del circulo politico acusado de un paquete de escandalos.
    Aparte de ser sospechado del lavado del dinero, desfalco una gran cantidad del dinero mediante transacciones ilegales con los grandes monopolios y la giro a la cuenta bancaria del partido republicano para la campana electoral.
    Por otra parte, se produjo un gran revuelo politico al reportarse que la firma "Enron", que habia donado mucho dinero a la campana electoral de Bush, acumulo una gran fortuna con el blanqueo del dinero mal habido.
    Todos estos macro-escandalos, frecuentes en EE.UU., son productos inevitables de la oligarquia financiera norteamericana de corte reaccionario, en que los monopolios controlan el poder estatal y las arterias economicas.
    Ademas, la capa gobernante del imperio compensa con la circulacion de tales fondos ilicitos el colosal deficit valorado en centenares de miles de millones de US$ como consecuencia de la frenetica economia belica.
    Todos los hechos corroboran que los negocios ilegales resultan vitales para la economia norteamericana que vive de agresiones y saqueos y que EE.UU. es el pais criminal de pesima calana del planeta que debe ser castigado duro por la humanidad.

Modo de politica socialista de nuestra epoca

    Pyongyang, 12 de mayo (ATCC) -- La idea Juche es la original filosofia politico-revolucionaria que da el principio y metodologia para el avance victorioso de la revolucion y la construccion. Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 12 y continua:
    En la practica revolucionaria para la materializacion de la idea Juche nacio el original modo de politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) de nuestro partido y gracias a la direccion del Songun del Dirigente nuestra revolucion y construccion avanzan con pujanza superando todas las pruebas y obstaculos.
    La politica de Songun de nuestro partido es el modo de politica mas cientifico que materializa el principio, el metodo y la demanda de la idea Juche.
    La direccion del Songun de nuestro partido materializa el principio de la idea Juche de defender y realizar la independencia del pais y la nacion.
    El Presidente Kim Il Sung dilucido el principio revolucionario de que como la causa socialista, causa de la independencia de las masas populares acompana la confrontacion de la fuerza con el imperialismo y otras fuerzas anti-revolucionarias, es preciso disponer de las poderosas fuerzas armadas revolucionarias para lograr la victoria en la revolucion, defender la revolucion triunfante y forjar de modo independiente el destino del pais y la nacion, y dirigio sabiamente la revolucion y construccion.
    El principio revolucionario de Juche presentado por el Presidente se materializa brillantemente por la politica de Songun formada por el Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
    La politica de Songun de nuestro partido materializa cabalmente el principio de la idea Juche de acelerar la revolucion y construccion al fortalecer el sujeto de la revolucion.
    Promover la revolucion y construccion por medio de fortalecer el sujeto de la revolucion y elevar su papel es el modo fundamental aclarado por la idea Juche para el triunfo de la revolucion. Nuestro partido, al materializar el principio de fortalecer el sujeto de la revolucion conforme a la situacion cambiada y del desarrollo de la realidad, presento de modo original la teoria de organizacion de las fuerzas revolucionarias tomando como grueso el ejercito, indicando de esta manera el camino acertado para fortalecer extraordinariamente el sujeto de la causa del socialismo.

Peligrosidad de "guia de cooperacion de defensa Japon-EE.UU."

    Pyongyang, 12 de mayo (ATCC) -- Japon y Estados Unidos tratan de enmendar la "guia de cooperacion de defensa" aprobada en 1997. @Se dice que la nueva incluira el problema de ampliar las relaciones de coligacion de ambos paises en las operaciones militares en otros paises bajo el rotulo del "mantenimiento de la paz", el desarrollo del sistema antimisiles, la recogida y el intercambio de las informaciones.
    El periodico Rodong Sinmun, en un articulo individual del dia 12, senala que la nueva "guia" es el plan de accion militar que van a trazar en comun ambos paises para cumplir la "guerra antiterrorista" en el ambito mundial y continua:
    En 1978 los reaccionarios japoneses la aprobaron para aprovecharla como instrumento de agresion a la ex-Union Sovietica. Pero, esta guia perdio su valor con el fin de la guerra fria. En 1999 aprobaron las leyes relativas a la "guia de cooperacion de defensa" con EE.UU. so pretexto de hacer frente a la supuesta "amenaza de misil" y la "duda de las instalaciones nucleares subterraneas" de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. De esta manera resucitaron el derecho a la beligerancia impedido por la constitucion y allanaron legalmente el camino de la agresion a otros paises.
    El presente intento de enmienda de esa "guia" es producto de las recrudescentes maniobras de la identificacion militar de los dos paises para el nuevo siglo.
    En los ultimos anos se completo la base de la formacion de la alianza agresiva de EE.UU. y Japon.
    Se dio acicate al desarrollo conjunto del sistema antimisiles. Se frecuento el ejercicio militar conjunto y se acelero la reorganizacion de las tropas norteamericanas en Japon.
    Asi hicieron realidad la fusion de las comandancias de las fuerzas terrestres, navales y aereas de los dos paises y la identificacion de su sistema del mando. Por eso, los reaccionarios norteamericanos y japoneses pretenden enmendar la guia arriba mencionada.
    Con la enmienda de la guia en cuestion EE.UU. persigue una importante finalidad de utilizar activamente las fuerzas armadas de Japon en el cumplimiento de la "guerra antiterrorista" y, a su vez, los reaccionarios japoneses tienden a dar toque final a sus preparativos de nueva agresion a Corea.
    Por tanto, la "Guia de cooperacion de defensa Japon-EE.UU." es un guion comun para la nueva guerra de agresion a Corea y las leyes conexas son para justificarla.
    A los agresores les tocaran solo la muerte y la derrota.

Seminario por 20 aniversario de publicacion de obra de Kim Jong Il

   Pyongyang, 12 de mayo (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 11 en el capitalino Palacio Cultural del Pueblo el seminario en homenaje al 20o aniversario de la publicacion de la obra maestra del Dirigente Kim Jong Il "Para convertir el deporte en una actividad masiva y elevar con rapidez su tecnica". En esta obra del 19 de mayo del 75 (1986) de la Era Juche, el Dirigente definio la masificacion del deporte como rumbo principal para su desarrollo e indico una valiosa guia para hacer que el deporte coreano contribuyera activamente a realizar la causa revolucionaria del Juche.
    En el foro hicieron uso de la palabra el presidente del Comite de Direccion de Deportes de Corea, Mun Jae Dok, el director de la Editorial del Deporte, Ri Pang Yon, el secretario del CC de la Union de la Juventud, Ri Kwang Hak, y el rector de la Universidad de Educacion Fisica de Corea, Kwak Nam Mo.
    Los oradores senalaron que la idea del Dirigente de desarrollar la tecnica deportiva partiendo de la posicion independiente y de acuerdo con las condiciones practicas del pais, las peculiaridades fisicas de la nacion coreana, el deseo y la demanda del pueblo sirve de guia directriz, que posibilita mantener el caracter Juche y la nacionalidad en la rama y conseguir victorias en competencias internacionales.
    @Subrayaron la necesidad de desarrollar al estilo coreano la tecnica deportiva para poner de pleno manifiesto la superioridad nacional y materializar el espiritu revolucionario de los militares en todas las esferas deportivas.
    Debemos armarnos firmemente con la idea y las teorias aclaradas en la obra del Dirigente y materializarlas consecuentemente para desarrollar en una etapa mas elevada el deporte nacional conforme a la demanda de la epoca del Songun (priorizacion militar), destacaron.
    En la ocasion estuvieron presentes el secretario del CC del Partido del Trabajo de Corea Kim Jung Rin, el vicepremier del Consejo de Ministros Kwak Pom Gi, el ministro de Educacion Kim Yong Jin y otros funcionarios.
