U.S. Scheme to Revive "Multi-National Forces" Flayed

    Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- The army and the people of the DPRK will destroy aggressors to the last man with their matchless self-defensive deterrent built up under Songun politics and wreak bitter grudges on the U.S. imperialists, if these warmongers dared start another Korean War, captive to war hysteria, declares a Rodong Sinmun analyst Monday. Recalling that the United States recently, through the "UN Command," brought together officers on the active list, civilian experts and others of 13 satellite states which participated in the past Korean War, upwards of 200 all told, and discussed "a plan for the operation of special units" in the event of "contingency on the Korean Peninsula," he goes on:
    The confab was a patent proof that the criminal scheme of the U.S. to revive the "UN Command" which exists in name only and, under its cloak, drag in "multi-national forces" to start the second Korean War has reached a grave practical stage.
    The confab revealed the extremely dangerous aggressive design to enlarge the "UN Command" under the control of the U.S. forces into "a substantive organization of multi-national allied forces", justify the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea and, furthermore, hurl troops of these countries again into the Korean Peninsula" in the event of "contingency".
    The south Korean people under U.S. occupation should heighten vigilance against the U.S. imperialists' highly dangerous' moves to impose nuclear disaster upon the Korean nation and turn out in a nation-wide struggle for the dissolution of the "UN Command" and withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea.

Declaration of May 18 Emergency Published in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- A "declaration of May 18 emergency urging peaceful settlement of the issue of Phyongthaek" was reportedly made public in Seoul on May 18 in the name of 803 workers, farmers, youth and students, and public figures of south Korea including human rights, religious, cultural and medical fields. The declaration recalled that all sorts of human rights abuses such as commitment of military forces, merciless police suppression and arrest, violence and sexual harassment were perpetrated in Phyongthaek at the present time marking the 26th anniversary of the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising when it was neither war time nor "a period of martial law".
    The root cause of the situation is that the government unilaterally agreed with the U.S. on the realization of the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces in south Korea and the issue of expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, the declaration said, strongly demanding the "Ministry of National Defence" retract the illegal designation of the "protection district of military facilities" and withdraw military forces and wire entanglements.
    It also demanded the government release the detainees, ensure the farming work of residents overall and stop basic survey for the expansion of the U.S. military base such as measurement survey which began from May 15.
    The declaration said it is the way for peaceful settlement of the Phyongthaek situation that the All-People Measure Committee for Checking the Expansion of the U.S. Military Base in Phyongthaek proposed to form a social consultative organization and the government should not persist in its stand but come out in dialogue with the all-people measure committee.
    Meanwhile, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification in a statement released on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising said that the Kwangju situation in which civilians were suppressed and killed by military forces reappeared in Phyongthaek today in the 21st century and the chieftains of the Kwangju massacre are hampering the unity of the people, while running wild with bloodshot eyes to seize power in broad daylight in this land.

80th Anti-U.S. Solidarity Rally Held in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- The 80th anti-U.S. solidarity rally was reportedly held with the attendance of residents and members of civic and public organizations at Peace Park in Taechu-ri, Phaengsong Township, Phyongthaek City, Kyonggi Province of south Korea on May 16. Speakers at the rally said that the authorities should totally renegotiate the expansion of the U.S. military base and take measures for allowing residents to do farming, expressing their will to continue their struggle until their demands are met.
    A resolution read out at the rally pointed out that they would more vigorously wage the struggle to get the illegally built wire entanglements and military forces to withdraw from Phyongthaek and the designation of the "protection district of military facilities" to retract and the struggle to check basic survey including land measurement and ground survey.
    We will never pardon the coercive attitude of the government authorities forcing surrender, talking about dialogue, the resolution said, and went on:
    We will make a breach in the subordinate "south Korea-U.S. military alliance" and open a new chapter of independence and peace.
    We will force the defense minister, commander of crackdown, and the chief of the National Police Office to resign, punish those responsible and realize the release of the detainees and damages.

Forum Held in Japan

    Tokyo, May 20 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Korean Social Scientists Association in Japan sponsored a forum on the subject of "Japan seen in East Asia" at Chuo University here on Friday. Present at the forum were Kim Hwa Hyo, chairman of the Central Standing Council of the association, and Korean social scientists in Japan, officials of Chongryon (General Association of Korean Residents in Japan) and Japanese citizens.
    Speeches were made by Ri Tong Gi, deputy director of the Thongil Phyongron, the vice-chairman of the General Association of Chinese Residents in Tokyo, and Akira Maeta, professor of Tokyo Zokei College.
    Speakers pointed out that deviation to the Right, fascistization and militarization reminding one of the eve of war are being stepped up in all fields of Japan, which evokes a serious apprehension from other Asian countries and nations.
    Japan has obstinately insisted on the "abduction issue", keeping step with the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK, to intensify its undisguised moves against the DPRK and Chongryon, while speeding up the retrogressive revision of the constitution to establish an "emergency" system under the pretext of "threat" from the DPRK, they noted.
    Japan should not take the road of war but strive to improve and develop relations with Asian nations, which will be beneficial to Japan itself and conducive to peace of Asia, they said, and stressed: Japan should repent of the crimes it committed against Asian countries in the past and make a sincere apology and compensation to Asian countries and peoples.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Marking "Day of By Our Nation Itself" with Success

   Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- It is a nationwide agreement and common desire of all the Koreans at home and abroad to mark June 15 as "Day of By Our Nation Itself" every year, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed article. All the Koreans, it stresses, should significantly celebrate the 6th anniversary of the publication of the north-south joint declaration as an event common to the nation by putting together their patriotic intention and will for reunification, irrespective of differences in ideology, idea and system and thus stir up the reunification movement. Calling for bringing into high tide the atmosphere of reconciliation and unity within the nation, bolstering the reunification movement and holding the common reunification event of the nation on a grand scale on the occasion of the "Day of By Our Nation Itself," the article goes on:
    A grand festival of national reunification is expected in the area of the south side on the occasion this year. The festival will serve as another milestone in demonstrating the nation's will for reconciliation, unity and independent reunification and spurring on the national reunification movement. Multimedia for Developing Children's Intellectual Powers Made

    Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- The Korean Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, in close contact with the Academy of Pedagogical Science, has recently produced "Encyclopedia of Developing Children's Intellectual Powers" (1) for four to five-year old children. The multimedia program is edited in an interesting way to suit the ages and mental qualities of children on the basis of successes and experience gained in preschool education.
    It consists of two parts titled "Observation on Flowers" and "Observation on Animals", which vividly show varied shapes, colors and physiology of flowers and species, features and modes of existence of animals, helping children in boosting their observation abilities.
    Under the titles "Time for Studying together with Mother", "Homework Given by Mother", "Break" and "Interesting Riddles" the multimedia deals with interesting matters of promoting mothers' concern for bringing up their children as intelligent ones from the childhood.
    The multimedia "Encyclopedia of Developing Children's Intellectual Powers" will be made in succession for cultivating memory, imagination, reasoning and thinking faculties.

    Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Monday sent a message of greetings to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh on the occasion of the 16th national day of Yemen. Kim Yong Nam Meets Nigerian Party Delegation

   Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly conversation with the delegation of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria led by its Deputy National Chairman Ibrahim S. Shema at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Monday. He said that during its stay in Korea the delegation witnessed great achievements the Korean people have made in their efforts to build a great prosperous powerful country under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.
    Korea is sure to be reunified thanks to the leadership of Kim Jong Il, he noted, positively supporting the Koreans in their efforts to reunify the country. He said that Nigeria would work hard to boost the friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK.

   Pyongyang, 22 de mayo (ATCC) -- El Comandante Supremo Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea inspecciono una unidad de capacitacion de comandantes de la gran unidad combinada No. 549 del Ejercito Popular de Corea. Tras recibir un parte de recibimiento el Comandante Supremo recorrio varias salas de lecciones para averiguar con detalle el estado de educacion.
    Expreso satisfaccion de que la unidad dispone de suficientes medios graficos y de practica para dar ensenanza sustancial a los aprendices, de modo que estos asimilen los conocimientos militares multifaceticos.
    La formacion de comandantes es un problema importantisimo relacionado directamente con el fortalecimiento de las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias, dijo el Comandante Supremo e indico las tareas programaticas que sirven de guia para la formacion de cuadros de todo el ejercito.

Kim Jong Il presencia una funcion en el marco del 9o concurso del EPC

    Pyongyang, 22 de mayo (ATCC) -- El Comandante Supremo Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, junto con oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular de Corea, presencio una funcion artistica preparada por los grupos artisticos de esposas de militares de las Unidades No. 488 y 534 del EPC, participantes en el IX Concurso de Grupos Artisticos de las mismas. 　Las concursantes presentaron en la escena variadas piezas de diferentes generos, entre otras, "El pueblo canta de la fiesta de abril" (en coro), "Mas alla del camino al frente" (musica instrumental y cancion), "Cancion de agradecimiento" (duo), "Queremos decirselo" (trio), "En aquel dia inolvidable" (poesia en dialogo), "Arirang de felicidad" (toque de Tanso acompanado de Kayagum -instrumentos nacionales coreanos-), "Yepuni" (quinteto de musica instrumental), "Somos capaces de todo si contamos con el General" (coro), entre otras.
    　A traves del espectaculo signado del fuerte impetu revolucionario, las ejecutantes cantaron en un tono altisonante el gran orgullo y la digna vida de si mismas que en el afectuoso regazo del gran General, crecieron como revolucionarias jugando un importante papel en la revolucion y demostraron patentemente su ferrea voluntad, impetu revolucionario y temperamento indoblegable de defender a costa de la vida a la Direccion de la Revolucion y lograr la victoria final de la Revolucion Coreana junto con sus esposos levantados en la sagrada batalla de defensa de la patria.

Rodong Sinmun denuncia intento de resucitar "fuerzas multinacionales"

   Pyongyang, 22 de mayo (ATCC) -- Si los belicistas norteamericanos se atreven a desatar la segunda guerra coreana, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea, con las fuerzas autodefensivas disuasivas preparadas por la politica de Songun (priorizacion militar), aniquilaran a todos los invasores y descargaran el rencor hacia los imperialistas yanquis. 　Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual del dia 22 insertado en relacion con que ultimamente EE.UU. auspicio en la "comandancia de las fuerzas de la ONU" una reunion para consultar el "proyecto de operacion de las tropas especiales" en el "tiempo de emergencia de la Peninsula Coreana" con la participacion de mas de 200 oficiales en activo y especialistas civiles de 13 paises satelites que habian enviado sus efectivos a la pasada guerra coreana (1950-1953) y prosigue:
    　El conciliabulo en cuestion es una prueba fehaciente de que ha entrado en la grave etapa practica la intencion criminal de EE.UU. de provocar la segunda guerra coreana con la introduccion de las "fuerzas multinacionales" bajo el rotulo de la nominal "comandancia de las fuerzas de la ONU".
    Usando el manto de la ONU, EE.UU. intenta ampliar y reorganizar la "comandancia de las fuerzas de la ONU" dirigida por si mismo en una "efectiva organizacion de la coalicion multinacional" para justificar la presencia de sus tropas en el Sur de Corea y volver a incorporar a las fuerzas armadas de dichos paises satelites en el "caso de emergencia de la Peninsula Coreana.

Multimedia para el desarrollo intelectual de ninos

    Pyongyang, 22 de mayo (ATCC) -- Los Estudios Cinematograficos de Documentales y Cientificos de Corea acaba de completar en cooperacion con la Academia de Ciencias de Educacion una multimedia "Enciclopedia para el desarrollo intelectual de ninos"(1) a base de los exitos y experiencias acumulados en la etapa educacional del Jardin de Infancia y tomando en consideracion edades y caracteristicas psicologicas de ninos de 4-5 anos. 　La multimedia consta de dos partes: "Flores" y "Animales" que dan imagenes vivas con las formas, colores y fisiologias de las primeras y con las variedades, caracteristicas y modos de vivencia de los segundos que contribuiran a elevar la capacidad de observacion de los ninos sobre las cosas.
    　La multimedia lleva tambien los significativos titulos "Hora de estudio con mama", "Tareas dadas por mama", "Hora de descanso" y "Enigmas interesantes" que posibilitan despertar el interes de las madres para elevar la inteligencia de sus ninos.
    　Se daran a luz en lo adelante de modo sucesivo las partes que contribuiran a elevar la capacidad de memoria, imaginacion, deduccion y pensamiento.
