Dangerous Military Collusion between U.S. and Japan under Fire

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and Japanese reactionaries are becoming undisguised in their moves to expand their theater of operation on a global scale, while tightening their military alliance further still. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun in a signed article Tuesday says:
    The United States and Japan are getting overheated in strengthening military alliance and cooperation, talking glibly about the revision of "the guideline of U.S.-Japan Defence Cooperation". This is a move to round off the U.S.-Japan offensive system targeted against the whole of Asia including Northeast Asia and ignite a war of aggression.
    The relocation of their forces in Japan by the U.S. imperialists is a military step geared to a plan for a new war of aggression in Korea. In the relocation, they seek to bring into shape a unified operational command system of the U.S. and Japan in preparation for a new Korean war. For this very purpose, the decision was finalized at a recent meeting of diplomatic and military authorities of Japan and the U.S. to bring into Japan the 1st army corps command of the U.S. Army from the U.S. mainland.
    The U.S. imperialists are reposing big hope in Japan in starting a Korean war. In the last period the U.S. regarded Okinawa as the main base for the U.S. forces in Japan. But it is at present going to turn the whole Japanese islands into a strategic vantage and the "most important stronghold" for an aggressive preemptive attack. This explains why the U.S. is putting spurs to the military integration with Japan involving a strengthened military alliance with Japan, completion of a joint operational command system and joint use of military bases.
    The Japanese militarists, on their part, intend to gratify their wild ambition for the reinvasion of Korea and the rest of Asia with the help of the U.S., their senior ally. To this end, they are beefing up their aggression forces in real earnest, while unifying the arms and the information and communication systems of the U.S. forces and the "Self-Defence Forces," zealously capitalizing on the war policy of the U.S. imperialists. Now, the military collusion of the U.S. and Japanese reactionaries are going beyond the danger line and becoming the root cause of a renewed Cold War in Asia.
    The U.S. imperialists' relocation of their forces in Japan and the moves for tightening the U.S.-Japan military collusion aimed at aggression and war pose a grave threat to the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia.
    The Asian people should heighten vigilance and wage an intensive common struggle to frustrate those acts.

DPRK FM Spokesman Exposes Japan's Moves to Internationalize "Abduction Issue"

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued a statement on June 13 as regards the fact that the Japanese authorities are driving the DPRK-Japan relations to the worst phase in history by persisting in their moves to internationalize the "abduction issue" already resolved between the DPRK and Japan. This year alone, in April and May, they made a big fuss, deciding to beg countries having diplomatic ties with the DPRK for official cooperation in the settlement of the issue and sending Megumi Yokota's family to the United States and south Korea for "soliciting" help. As if this is not enough, they are trying to take the issue to the UN Human Rights Council and G-8 summit, says the spokesman, and goes on:
    In trying to "internationalize" the "abduction issue," which had been solved, by deliberately bringing it into bold relief, the Japanese authorities seek to isolate the DPRK by taking advantage of the U.S. hostile policy toward it and craftily evade its obligation to settle their past crimes by distorting the keynote of the DPRK-Japan relations as if it is the "abduction issue."
    The relations between the DPRK and Japan are, in essence, those between a victim and an assailant. Therefore, the latter ought to make due apology and compensation understandable to the victim if the bilateral relations are to be settled.
    Japan has imposed upon the Korean people immeasurable human, material and mental pain in the past.
    Nevertheless, Japan has not yet made any honest apology to the Korean people with a humble bow. On the contrary it has neither admitted its criminal acts nor thought of compensating for them.
    In the light of the order for the settlement of those crimes and from the moral point of view, Japan should begin with apologizing and compensating for the most hideous crimes it committed against humanity in the last century.
    As already clarified by the DPRK more than once, the "abduction issue" had been completely settled thanks to its sincere efforts.
    The DPRK sent "abductees" and their children to Japan and provided Japan with nearly 50 hours to hear testimonies from those who experienced or witnessed some "abductees" died to help it confirm their death.
    And the DPRK has done everything possible including the handing to Japan of even the things left behind by the deceased and their remains.
    In November 2004, the Japanese government, too, officially expressed thanks, manifesting its understanding of the DPRK's sincere efforts made for the settlement of the "abduction issue".
    This being a hard reality, the Japanese authorities are so cunning as to avoid making public the above-said facts at home until now. They are claiming that there exist some "issues to be settled" in a bid to mislead public opinion.
    They are working hard to abuse the above-said issue for the realization of their political strategy from A to Z.
    By internationalizing the issue they seek to isolate the DPRK and get their "leadership ability" estimated at home and instill a new "view on the state" based on ultra-nationalism into Japanese and thus justify their policy of militarization.
    The Japanese authorities would be well advised to ponder over the serious impact the current situation will have on the overall relations between the DPRK and Japan.
    No matter how hard they may peddle the "abduction issue" in a bid to hide the crimes committed against all the Koreans, our people will blame Japan for all its past crimes and force it to pay for them.

Commemorative Pamphlet Issued in Italy

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Group of Dialectical Materialists of Italy issued a pamphlet titled "For Strengthening and Development of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Party of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" on June 7 on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee. The pamphlet said that Kim Jong Il has steadily strengthened and developed the WPK founded by President Kim Il Sung since his start of work at the WPK Central Committee on June 19, 1964.
    Kim Jong Il has carried forward and developed the unity and cohesion of the Party achieved by Kim Il Sung and firmly established the guidance system of the leader within the Party, it noted, and continued:
    Wisely led by Kim Jong Il, the WPK is powerfully encouraging all the people to build a great prosperous powerful nation and achieve the cause of national reunification true to the behests of Kim Il Sung.

Independence Day of Philippines Marked

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the Chollima House of Culture here on Monday to mark the 108th anniversary of the independence of Philippines. Attending it were Jon Yong Jin, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and chairman of the Korea-Philippines Friendship Association, members of the association and working people in the city.
    A congratulatory speech was made by the chairman of the friendship association. Then messages of greetings to the president of Philippines and the Philippines-DPRK Friendship Society were adopted.
    At the end of the meeting its participants went round photos and books showing the culture, arts and other aspects of Philippines.

"Funeral" of S. Korea-U.S. FTA Held in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement reportedly held a "funeral" of the FTA in Seoul on June 9. Speakers at the "funeral" said that the conclusion of FTA would entail adverse aftermath little short of the crisis caused by the International Monetary Fund, adding that the people would certainly punish the present government for driving them to an abyss of death.
    After a "memorial address" was read out, its participants held a "funeral," holding funeral streamers and placards reading "FTA that makes a mess of the south Korean economy and deepens the bipolarization of society" and so on.

Chongryon Kumgangsan Opera Troupe Gives Performances in Seoul

    Tokyo, June 11 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Kumgangsan Opera Troupe of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) gave special performances in Seoul on June 7 and 8 to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration. Appreciating the performances were political, academic, cultural and artistic figures, and those active in the national democratic movement and citizens.
    Such numbers as Jangsaenap solo "Hot Wind", Kayagum solo "Song of Sea" and dances "Winnow Dance", "Janggu Dance" and "Playing Korean Chess" overflowing with national flavor fascinated the audience with tempered playing and elegant and powerful rhythm.
    Especially, dance "Hana" against a fluttering large Korean Peninsula flag to the tune of song "We Are One" was acclaimed by the audience as it reflected the unanimous desire of the fellow countrymen.
    After appreciating the performances, political figures and citizens of the south side expressed admiration at the activities of the Kumgangsan Opera Troupe for firmly preserving and developing the arts of the nation in Japan.

Rodong Sinmun Flails Pro-U.S. Conservative Forces of S. Korea

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The pro-U.S. conservative forces including the "Grand National Party" in south Korea are a stumbling block in the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article says this, and goes on:
    The Korean nation has drawn a lesson from the past 6 years since the adoption of the joint declaration that it is impossible to successfully implement the June 15 joint declaration as long as the pro-U.S. conservative forces remain within the nation.
    The pro-U.S. conservative forces including the GNP have persistently denied the June 15 joint declaration, a milestone of reunification common to the Korean nation, and stood in the way of its implementation.
    It is none other than the GNP gentries who refused to be a member of a Pyongyang-visiting group, discontented with the publication of the April 8 agreement on the historic Pyongyang summit. They are blocking the way of national reunification, depending on the U.S., not on the Korean nation itself.
    The GNP and other pro-American conservative forces have desperately tried to turn the June 15 era of reunification back to the past era of confrontation, swimming against the trend of national history toward the implementation of the joint declaration.
    They forced the authorities to republish the white paper on defence which specifies the "theory on principal enemy", openly describing the fellow countrymen as an "anti-state organization", an "object to be overthrown", openly declared fellow countrymen "principal enemy" in a "policy statement" and burnt a flag of the DPRK, a dignified symbol of our people, to incite confrontation with fellow countrymen.
    It is obvious that the GNP forces, which totally denied the June 15 joint declaration, will never allow inter-Korean economic cooperation to progress smooth. They were trying to bar inter-Korean cooperation, describing it as "drain on resources" and "payment of tributes" and checked the provision of humanitarian aid materials, blaring that they may be used for military purpose and strengthen the system in the north.
    They were desperately keen on blocking inter-Korean economic cooperation by means of "special inspection" under the pretext of "suspicion of remittance to the north". Their reckless acts prove that they are traitors to the Korean nation.

Constant Attention Paid to Bird Flu Prevention Work in DPRK

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- A constant attention is being paid to the avian flu prevention work in accordance with the epizootic prevention system already established in the DPRK. The National Emergency Epizootic Prevention Committee with vice-premier Ro Tu Chol as its chairman has taken measures of observe, notify and prevent the bird flu in touch with the FAO and other international organizations.
    Propaganda activities are being conducted among the people under the unified guidance of the emergency committee so that they turn out in the campaign for preventing bird influenza.
    Officials of public health establishment at all levels and the stock-breeding and poultry fields bring home to inhabitants the common knowledge, prevention measures and emergency action principle in case of bird flu outbreak.

Historical Book on Korean Feudal Dynasties Published

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The Science and Encyclopedia Press of the DPRK has brought out a new book "History of Koguryo" Vol. 1, a series of "History of Dynasties in Korea". The book consists of a preface, review of the history of Koguryo and two chapters -- the first chapter deals with establishment of Koguryo Feudal State and the second with merger of surrounding small states and regions and struggle for expansion of territory and territorial integrity.
    A book "History of Koguryo" (1-3) was published in the past. It handles the whole history of Koguryo in a chronological order. Differing from it, the new one handles the history of Koguryo according to sectors and issues while allotting much space even to a small affair if necessary.
    As foreign academic circles have misunderstanding and misinterpretation on some issues regarding the Koguryo history even now and reptile historians of imperialists persist in distorting the history, the newly published book will be helpful to overcoming erroneous views on some issues.
    It, backed by rich historical records and reference and explanatory data, will promote the understanding of the Koguryo history.
    In particular, the legend of Koguryo creation and the parts related to "Han's Four Areas" and Rakrang State will attract the attention of the readers.

School Youth and Children's Sports Contest Opens

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The 32nd sports contest for "Jongilbong Prize" among school youth and children from across the country was opened with due ceremony at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium Tuesday. The sports contest will bring together at least 5,000 ace juvenile players selected from every province of the country. Divided into the groups of middle and primary schoolers, they will compete in more than 10 events such as football, basketball, volleyball, track and field meet, Taekwon-Do and defence sports.
    Present at the ceremony were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Mun Jae Dok, chairman of the Korean Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, officials concerned and school youth and children.
    An opening speech was made by Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, and then followed a Taekwon-Do exhibition performance given by school youth and children.

Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

    Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected KPA Unit 147. Conducted by the commander of the unit, he went round the room for the education in revolutionary relics and the room devoted to the unit's history.
    The unit could grow to be matchless combat ranks under the loving care of President Kim Il Sung, he said, calling on the unit to successfully carry out the President's behests and demonstrate its might as an ever-victorious contingent.
    He acquainted himself with the unit's performance of duty before watching the training of its servicepersons.
    He set forth the tasks to be tackled by the unit to increase its combat capability, satisfied to learn that the commanding officers and men of the unit are possessed of military technique and combat capability through their tireless training and performing their guard duties in a tense and mobilized posture in a responsible manner.
    He was glad to meet with the soldiers with whom he had become acquainted on his way to inspect the front more than ten years back and congratulated them on having grown to be competent commanding officers of the KPA.
    Walking in the compound of the barracks clad in thick verdure of trees of various species, he learned about the management of the unit.
    He highly praised the servicepersons of the unit for having set an example in managing the unit, greatly pleased to know that they have planted a lot of trees of good species and tended them with good care, creating a thick woodland and keeping the barracks and their compound neat and tidy.
    One can see such majestic appearance of regular forces wherever KPA soldiers are posted, he said, adding this signal change is the precious fruition of ardent patriotism displayed by the soldiers in the era of Songun.
    Looking round entertainment, educational and supply service facilities, he praised the unit for having provided the soldiers with good living conditions.
    He had a photo session with the servicepersons of the unit.

Comandancia Aerea del EPC reitera advertencia a EE.UU.

    Pyongyang, 13 de junio (ATCC) -- La comandancia de las fuerzas aereas del Ejercito Popular de Corea publico el dia 12 una informacion en relacion con que los belicistas norteamericanos cometieron el dia 12 otra accion provocativa contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. A eso de las 12:05, un avion espia de las tropas agresoras norteamericanas, despegado de una base en ultramar, invadio ilegalmente el espacio aereo sobre las aguas economicas al este de Chongjin y Hwadae y navegando varias horas se enfrasco en el reconocimiento de los objetivos estrategicos de la RPDC, precisa el documento y prosigue:
    La intrusion ilegal y el espionaje de las aeronaves norteamericanas, que en estos dias se reportan sucesivamente, producen gran indignacion de los oficiales y soldados de las fuerzas aereas del EPC.
    Castigar implacablemente a los invasores es el temperamento congenito de las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias de la RPDC.
    Las fuerzas aereas del EPC advierten una vez mas a los belicistas yanquis que seran estrellados en el Mar Este de Corea si siguen portandose tan imprudentemente desoyendo la advertencia de si mismas.

MINREX revela mala intencion de Japon

    Pyongyang, 13 de junio (ATCC) -- El vocero del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea publico el dia 13 una declaracion en relacion con que en estos dias las autoridades japonesas llevan a la peor coyuntura las relaciones con la RPDC aferrandose persistentemente a las maniobras encaminadas a "internacionalizar" el "problema del secuestro" ya resuelto entre ambos paises. Solo en abril y mayo de este ano ellas decidieron solicitar a los paises, que tienen relaciones diplomaticas con la RPDC, la "colaboracion oficial" en la solucion del "problema del secuestro" y enviaron a los familiares de Megumi Yokoda a EE.UU. y al Sur de Corea para rogar la misma cosa.
    　Como si no les bastaran estos alborotos, intentan ultimamente plantear este problema en el Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU y la cumbre de los 8 paises.
    Dandole mayor destaque al ya resuelto "problema del secuestro" las autoridades japonesas pretenden "internacionalizarlo" con el proposito de aislar en la arena internacional a la RPDC en adhesion a la politica hostil norteamericana a esta y de evadir astutamente su deber de liquidacion del pasado criminal de Japon al tergiversar que este problema constituye lo fundamental de las relaciones con la RPDC.
    Las relaciones Corea-Japon, en su esencia, son las entre la victima y el culpable. Por lo tanto, para normalizarlas el segundo debe pedir disculpa y hacer indemnizacion con que pueda persuadir a la primera.
    　En el pasado Japon impuso al pueblo coreano indecibles perdidas humanas y materiales y tremendos sufrimientos espirituales.
    　A pesar de esto, hasta la fecha nunca le pidio perdon sinceramente ni reconoce sus actos criminales, lejos de recompensarlos.
    　Tanto en el orden cronologico como en lo moral, Japon debe pedir disculpa y recompensar primero sus macro-crimenes antieticos cometidos en el siglo pasado.
    　Como hemos ratificado en varias ocasiones, el controvertido "problema" ya fue resuelto por completo gracias a la atencion sincera y esfuerzos de nuestro pais.
    　Devolvimos a Japon a las victimas del secuestro y sus hijos y, en lo que respecta a los difuntos, facilitamos a los japoneses escuchar durante casi 50 horas testimonios de quienes convivieron con ellos o los vieron morir.
    　Ademas, hicimos todos los esfuerzos a nuestro alcance como la entrega de pertenencias de los difuntos y sus restos mortales.
    　El propio gobierno japones agradecio oficialmente en noviembre de 2004 expresando su comprension de la buena voluntad y esfuerzos de la RPDC por resolver ese problema.
    　Sin embargo, hasta el momento las autoridades japonesas no publicaron estos hechos en el interior de Japon y tergiversan la opinion publica como si todavia quedaran "cosas a ser resueltas".
    Ahora ellas intentan por una parte "internacionalizar" el "problema del secuestro" para aislar a la RPDC y ganar el visto bueno a su "capacidad directiva" y por la otra, inculcar una nueva "concepcion del Estado" con el ultra-nacionalismo como su ideal para justificar su politica militarista.
    　Pues, lo malemplean exclusivamente en la realizacion de su estrategia politica.
    Las autoridades japonesas deben reflexionar seriamente de la grave consecuencia que la situacion actual pueda ocasionar en las relaciones Corea-Japon en su conjunto.
    Aunque las autoridades japonesas maniobran obstinadamente para encubrir sus crimenes cometidos en detrimento de todo el pueblo coreano pregonando el "problema del secuestro", este ajustara estricta cuenta del pasado criminal de Japon.

Rodong Sinmun revela confabulacion militar EE.UU.-Japon

   Pyongyang, 13 de junio (ATCC) -- Los reaccionarios estadounidenses y japoneses intensifican mas que nunca la alianza militar y se desesperan abiertamente para amplificar su escenario operacional a la esfera mundial. Senala asi el rotativo Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual publicado en su edicion del dia 13 y prosigue:
    La modificacion de la "guia de cooperacion EE.UU.-Japon para la defensa" y el fortalecimiento de la alianza militar y de la cooperacion militar son una maquinacion para completar el sistema de ataque contra Asia, en particular, contra el Nordeste Asiatico, y provocar una guerra de agresion.
    La reubicacion de las tropas gringas estacionadas en Japon es una medida militar para llevar a la practica el plan de nueva guerra de agresion contra Corea. A traves de este nuevo emplazamiento los imperialistas estadounidenses tratan de establecer el sistema unificado de mando operacional EE.UU.-Japon. En particular, las autoridades diplomaticas y castrenses de los dos paises llegaron a la aprobacion final de trasladar a Japon la comandancia del primer cuerpo terrestre de EE.UU.
    El pais estadounidense deposita gran esperanza en Japon para cumplir la segunda guerra coreana. En el tiempo pasado habia considerado Okinawa como base principal de sus tropas en Japon, pero hoy dia trata de convertir todo el archipielago japones en un nudo estrategico, "punto de apoyo importantisimo" para el ataque preventivo. Es por eso que EE.UU. da acicate al fortalecimiento de la alianza militar con Japon, al perfeccionamiento del sistema de mando operacional comun, al uso comun de las bases militares, y en fin, a la realizacion de la identificacion militar.
    En tanto, los militaristas japoneses intentan realizar su ambicion de nueva agresion a Corea y el resto de Asia bajo el amparo de su aliado mayor EE.UU. Para este fin, aumenta sus fuerzas agresoras en adhesion a la politica de guerra de EE.UU. y al mismo tiempo unifica los armamentos y el sistema de informacion de tropas estadounidenses y de "fuerzas japonesas de autodefensa". Hoy en dia, la confabulacion militar de los reaccionarios estadounidenses y japoneses rebasa el limite del peligro y sirve de una fuente para nueva guerra fria en la region asiatica.
    La paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana y el resto de la region del Nordeste Asiatico se ven amenazadas gravemente debido a la reubicacion de las tropas estadounidenses en Japon y a la intensificacion de la alianza militar EE.UU.-Japon.
    Los pueblos asiaticos deben estar alertos de todo eso y desplegar activamente la lucha comun por frustrarlo.
