Consolidation of Socialist System Called for

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- The socialist system in the DPRK is a permanent cradle of happiness and life as it provides the popular masses with the most worthwhile and happiest life. It is, therefore, the most sacred duty for all the Korean people to consolidate and glorify the system forever. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a by-lined article. It continues:
    All the working people are taking part in the exercise of power in all fields and the state administration in a responsible manner with equal political rights as equal members of society and conducting free social and political activities in the country where they have become a master.
    Korean-style socialism is cherished in the hearts of the Korean people not as a mere conception of a social system but as a symbol of dignity and honor and hope.
    It is the supreme principle governing the activities of the Workers' Party of Korea and the state to enable all the people to live well off on an equal footing and steadily improve the standard of their material life.
    The Party and the state have consistently enforced popular policies for the improvement of the living-conditions of the people and the promotion of their well-being.
    Such popular policies were invariably enforced even in the period of "the Arduous March," the forced march when conditions of the country were so hard. The DPRK has firmly adhered to the principle of giving priority to anything popular.
    Ours is the society where the collectivist principle "One for all and all for one!" perfectly prevails in the mental and moral life of the people. All the working people enjoy a happy life like one harmonious family, helping and leading each other forward irrespective of revolutionary post, position and age.
    The on-going general march for Songun revolution is a worthwhile march to consolidate the socialist system and give fuller play to its advantages.

Kim Jong Il Praised by Mexican Party Leader

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- Jesus Antonio Carlos Hernandez, general secretary of the Central Committee of the People's Socialist Party of Mexico, issued a statement on June 8 on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim Jong Il is the great leader of the WPK, the statement said, adding:
    While working at the WPK Central Committee, he has strengthened and developed the party into a party guided by the Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung and a party which has achieved unbreakable unity and cohesion with his tireless energy and extraordinary wisdom.
    He put up "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Will Always Be with Us" and "Let Us Arm Ourselves More Firmly with the Revolutionary Ideas of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung!", slogans reflecting the faith of the Korean people, and has developed in depth the Songun idea founded by Kim Il Sung.
    He has firmly defended the ideological purity and tradition of the party and socialism through his energetic leadership.

Immediate Withdrawal of S. Korean Troops from Iraq Demanded

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- The People's Action against the Dispatch of Troops of south Korea reportedly held a press conference in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on June 12 at which it denounced the U.S. forces' massacres of civilians in Iraq and demanded an immediate withdrawal of south Korean troops from there. At the press conference the organization referred to recent foreign press reports that U.S. forces stormed into an Iraqi village at the end of last year, indiscriminately killing 24 innocent civilians.
    The U.S. forces' human rights abuses and mass killings in Iraq are baffling human imagination, the organization noted, demanding a thorough investigation into their massacres of Iraqi civilians so far known and a stern punishment of all those responsible for them.
    It strongly demanded the "government" authorities withdraw as early as possible the Jaitun unit which had been hurled into the unjust war of aggression against Iraq.

New Legal Ground for Preventing Arms Races in Space Called for

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- To lay a new legal ground for comprehensively and effectively preventing arms races in the space presents itself as an urgent issue in view of the fact that a series of agreements on banning the deployment of arms in the space have been scrapped or insufficient and, in actuality, an attempt to establish a space arms system is being made. The DPRK delegate said this when the issue of banning arms race in the space was discussed at the plenary session of the Disarmament Conference in Geneva on June 8. It is the unanimous demand of the world people to make a peaceful use of the space, he said, referring to the constant efforts made by the Disarmament Conference to negotiate a package legal document for preventing arms race in the space in accordance with the resolutions concerned of the UN General Assembly in the past.
    The DPRK delegation supports the proposal for setting up a special committee for banning arms race in the space at the Disarmament Conference and starting the negotiations on this issue, he noted.
    He expressed hope that an intensive and systematic discussion of agenda items of the Disarmament Conference would contribute to creating a good atmosphere for agreement of working plan and it would lead to the process of negotiations.

CPRF Secretariat Urges GNP to Stop Opposing Joint Declaration

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- The floor leader and a spokesman of the Grand National Party of south Korea let loose a string of trash taking issue with the report made by the director of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland at the Pyongyang meeting last weekend commemorating the 80th anniversary of the June 10 anti-Japanese demonstration. In this regard, the Secretariat of the CPRF made public information bulletin No. 919 on Wednesday.
    Noting that they turned their full vocabulary on the report, crying over "interference in internal affairs" and demanding "apology," the information bulletin says: It was nothing but a screaming of those touched to the quick and pushed to the wall by the exposure of their ugly color.
    As already known, in the report we warned that if the GNP came to power in south Korea, the June 15 joint declaration would be reduced to a dead letter, north-south cooperation and exchanges would run aground and the whole land of Korea would be engulfed in a flame of war.
    Frankly speaking, we stated the truth and gave the GNP an indispensable medicine. If the GNP found the drug bitter, it should give up its treacherous act of desperately opposing the June 15 joint declaration warmly welcomed by the whole nation and renounce its inveterate sycophantic habit of serving and worshiping the United States, the war maniac, as its forefather.
    We make it plain that the GNP will have not many days to survive, unless it breaks with this bad habit today.

Grand March for Reunification Called for

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates an editorial to the 6th anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration, which urges all the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas to make a grand march for independent reunification under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself". The daily says the last six years crowded with astounding changes in the national reunification movement under the banner of the joint declaration are shining as a record of patriotic devotion and outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    It goes on:
    In the course of the struggle waged by the Koreans in the last six years under the banner, the Juche character of the reunification movement has become more pronounced and the tradition of the era of independent reunification has been established to be priceless assets for the accomplishment of the cause of reunification. This tradition is, so to speak, the tradition of "By our nation itself", the tradition of national independence.
    It is the sum total of the past six years that the key to the accomplishment of the cause of reunification lies in shaping the destiny of the nation and waging the reunification movement independently, pooling the efforts of the Korean nation.
    All the fellow countrymen should uphold and thoroughly carry into practice the noble tradition of "By our nation itself", the tradition of national independence, bearing in mind that the steadfast defence and positive application of it is the only way of adding shine to the era of independent reunification.
    In resolving all the problems arising in the accomplishment of the reunification cause, the north and the south should firmly adhere to the stand of Juche of the nation.
    All the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas should strengthen unity under the banner of the joint declaration as required by the times, transcending differences in idea and system, class and strata. It is important to further develop the movement for reunification in diverse forms and methods so that the atmosphere of reconciliation and cohesion may continue to surge into high tide within the nation. Guided by the idea of "By our nation itself," dialogue should be made and cooperation, exchange and mutual travel be promoted in such a manner as to help toward the achievement of genuine cohesion of the nation.
    The desperate attempts of the pro-U.S. conservatives in south Korea to turn the trend of the era of national cohesion and independent reunification to confrontation, cringing to outside forces, must be smashed to smithereens.
    All the Koreans should turn out as one man in the struggle against the aggression and war, domination and interference of the U.S. imperialists with do-or-die resolution and will.
    The movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity is a righteous patriotic struggle for the Koreans who are plagued with sufferings of national division and the danger of war.

Mass Praying for National Reunification Held

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- A "mass praying for national reunification to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration" was held at temples across the northern half of Korea on Thursday on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the historic Pyongyang inter-Korean summit and the June 15 joint declaration. Present there were clergymen of the Central Committee of the Korean Buddhist Federation and its provincial, city and county committees, chief priests, monks and other Buddhists of the relevant temples.
    After the ritual speeches were made and a written prayer for national reunification reverentially read.
    Speakers said that the mass is being held at a time when the warm desire of all the Koreans for reunification is growing stronger than ever before on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the historic joint declaration. U.S. Chiefly to Blame for Nuclear Proliferation

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- The former head of the UN team for the inspection of weapons in Iraq, the general director of the IAEA and others expressed serious apprehension as to the potential danger of a new global nuclear arms race due to the U.S. wrong attitude. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Thursday says:
    This assessment made by experts on the disarmament issue clearly proves that the U.S. is chiefly responsible for harassing global peace and stability and posing a nuclear threat and a kingpin of nuclear proliferation.
    Accusing the U.S. war-like forces of putting spurs to the development and production of smaller nukes and the militarization of space in a bid to use nuclear weapons as conventional weapons, seized by nuclear hysteria, the news analyst goes on:
    The U.S. is chiefly to blame for the proliferation of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
    It has transferred nuclear substance to its allies or actively helped them produce nuclear weapons in contravention of international convention. It transferred nuclear weapons-grade enriched uranium to south Korea and Israel and encouraged Japan to stockpile plutonium, shutting eyes to it. The U.S. blamed other countries which posed no problem, while sidestepping those issues that should be called into question. It applied sanctions and put pressure upon them and even referred them to the UN under the absurd charge of being "nuclear criminals" for the mere reason that they incurred its displeasure. These are unpardonable crimes.
    The U.S., the world's biggest nuclear weapons state, has applied unjust double standards over the nuclear issue, hindering the implementation of the NPT, fostering nuclear arms race and compelling non-nuclear states to bolster nuclear deterrent.
    The U.S. ever-more undisguised nuclear war moves serve as a catalyst accelerating the global nuclear arms race and creating the danger of a thermo-nuclear war.
    The U.S. has neither justification nor face to talk about other's "nuclear issue" as it is the most ferocious nuclear criminal and the arch criminal gravely threatening human existence and civilization.
    It should lend an ear to the unbiased international voices and stop its reckless moves to start a nuclear war and foster the nuclear arms race before talking about the non-existent "nuclear threats" from other countries.

Grand Festival for National Reunification Opens in Kwangju

    Kwangju, June 14 (KCNA Correspondent) -- The grand festival for national reunification to mark the 6th anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration that ushered in the new era of national reconciliation, unity and independent reunification was opened in Kwangju, south Korea Wednesday. Delegates from the north and the south of Korea and abroad entered the venue of the opening ceremony, waving Korean Peninsula flags amidst warm welcome of the crowd.
    The opening ceremony was attended by members of the delegations of the authorities and non-governmental delegations of the north and the south and the delegation of the overseas side.
    After the festival was declared open, a large Korean Peninsula flag was hoisted amidst the playing of song "Arirang."
    Paek Rak Chong, chairman of the south side's committee who is co-chairman of the All-Korean Committee for the Implementation of the June 15 Joint Declaration, in his opening address underlined the need to give compatriots more opportunities to meet with each other and exchange their views defying any foreign interference or challenges at home and from abroad in order to implement the June 15 joint declaration. He expressed belief that this joint national event would mark another landmark occasion in implementing the declaration.
    Former President Kim Dae Jung in his speech noted that the June 15 south-north summit recorded as the most meaningful event in the history of the Korean nation was significant talks at which both sides vowed to stand for national self-determination and agreed on national reconciliation and cooperation.

    Ri Jong Sok, minister of Unification of south Korea who is leading the delegation of the authorities of the south side, said: Over the last six years the south and the north have striven hard to pull down the barrier of antipathy and confrontation. There were obstacles and difficulties in their way but they could overcome them as they had a strong will to implement the June 15 joint declaration without fail.
    Now is the time to break the chains of confrontation and distrust and carve out a future for a proud reunified nation, he said, calling for comprehensively developing exchange and cooperation in various fields.
    Kwak Tong Ui, co-chairman of the overseas side's committee for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration, said that the north-south relations of distrust, misunderstanding, discord and confrontation were replaced by those of confidence, understanding, reconciliation and cooperation, a shining fruition of the historic June 15 joint declaration. The grand festival today is possible because June 15 has been deeply enshrined by the fellow countrymen as the "day of by our nation itself".

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- New literary books have been recently published by the Literature and Art Publishing House of the DPRK. Among them are "Sun of All People", the third series of "Collection of True Stories through Visitor's Books of Kumsusan Memorial Palace" and "Only Heaven Knows", the fifth series of "Legendary on Bright Star of Mt. Paektu". The former conveys the boundless reverence of humankind for President Kim Il Sung and latter the stories of the love for the people shown by leader Kim Jong Il on the long way of Songun inspection tour.
    Two-part full-length novel "Born of Storm", medium-length novel "Blue Waterway" and classic novel "Queer Meeting by a Pair of Bracelets" (second part) were also brought out.

Japanese Reactionaries' Visits to "Yasukuni Shrine" under Fire

    Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- The Japanese right-wing reactionaries' visits to "Yasukuni Shrine" are a challenge to the trend of history in which many countries of the world are get reconciled and cooperate with each other and making a new history of prosperity after settling their past wrongs, says Minju Joson Thursday in a signed commentary. The right-wing reactionaries in Japan are painting war criminals as "patriots" in a bid to make all members of society militarist fanatics on their pattern. Meeting for National Reunification Held

    Kwangju, June 15 (KCNA Correspondent) -- A meeting for national reunification to implement the June 15 joint declaration was held at the Kwangju Cultural and Art Center Thursday. Present at the meeting were members of the delegations of the authorities and non-governmental organizations of the north and the south and members of the delegation of the overseas side.
    On hand were Kim Yong Dae, vice-chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, and Ri Jong Sok, minister of Unification, who are heading the delegations of the authorities of the north and the south.
    The meeting discussed the ways for all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to wage a patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity and thus protect the dignity and sovereignty of the nation and the peace and security of the country and accelerate national reunification.
    An Kyong Ho, co-chairman of the All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration who is chairman of the north side's committee, in a speech referred to the great achievements made in the movement for national reunification since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, describing them as a historic step forward in the north-south relations.
    Stressing the need to implement the three principles of national reunification--independence, peace and great national unity--and the June 15 joint declaration, a programme for reunification common to the nation, regarding them as landmarks for reunification, he appealed to the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to closely solidarize with each other and make greater progress in the three-point patriotic movement.
    Paek Rak Chong, co-chairman of the All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration who is chairman of the south side's committee, in a speech underscored the need to boost dialogue and cooperation between the south and the north to a new higher stage despite whatever difficult situation. He called for working hard to avert a danger of war on this land, defuse the military tension and give momentum to the spirit of peace.
    He underlined the need to immensely broaden the width of great national unity and further strengthen exchange, thus lifting the atmosphere of national reconciliation and unity in all parts of the south and the north.
    Mun Tong Hwan, co-chairman of the overseas side's committee, said in a speech that Koreans are becoming one day by day since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. The high wall between the north and the south is being pulled down thanks to the inter-Korean political dialogue and economic cooperation, he noted.
    Then followed speeches by delegates of the north and the south and overseas sides.
    They stressed the need to further expand and strengthen the June 15 All-Korean Committee and decisively enhance its function and role in order to dynamically conduct the three-point patriotic movement of independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
    An appeal to the fellow countrymen at home and abroad was adopted at the meeting.
    The appeal said that to achieve "reunification in the spirit of by our nation itself" serves as a patriotic banner all the Koreans should hold high, calling on them to put the interests of the nation above all and set store by them and thus achieve the common prosperity of the nation.
    It also called for paving a wide avenue for reunification by struggling for national independence, protecting the welfare of the nation through a nationwide peace movement and bringing about a new landmark in the efforts for national reunification through the great unity of the nation.

    Pyongyang, 15 de junio (ATCC) -- La visita al "santuario Yasukuni" de las fuerzas reaccionarias ultraderechistas de Japon es un desafio a la corriente de la historia en que muchos paises del mundo crean una nueva historia de prosperidad liquidando su erroneo pasado, reconciliandose y cooperando. Senala asi el periodico Minju Joson en un comentario individual del dia 15 y continua:
    Los reaccionarios derechistas de Japon tratan de convertir a todos los miembros de la sociedad en freneticos militaristas al disfrazar como "patriotas" a los criminales de guerra y al presentarlos como un modelo. Para este fin criminal acuden antes que nadie al "santuario Yasukuni".
    Realizar a toda costa la ambicion militarista de expansion a ultramar constituye un "credo politico" de los reaccionarios derechistas de Japon. Por eso no quieren cambiar su erronea posicion politica poniendo en peligro hasta las relaciones inter-estatales.
    Ellos buscan la salida de su pais en la conquista de otra nacion y la ocupacion de la posicion de dueno del continente asiatico como lo hizo en el pasado.
    Pero, los que tienen juicio saben que eso es una vana ilusion irrealizable y un peligroso camino que conduce a Japon a la ruina.
    Los reaccionarios derechistas japoneses no deben tratar con imprudencia la realidad de hoy en que su pais esta aislado politicamente y se encuentra en una crisis diplomatica en el Asia.

CRPP denuncia al "partido Hannara" del Sur de Corea

    Pyongyang, 15 de junio (ATCC) -- El Secretariado del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria (CRPP) publico el dia 14 la informacion no. 919 en relacion con que el jefe parlamentario y el portavoz del "partido Hannara" del Sur de Corea censuraron el contenido del informe del director del Secretariado del CRPP, presentado el pasado dia 10 en el acto de la ciudad de Pyongyang por el 80o aniversario de la manifestacion antijaponesa del 10 de junio de 1926. El "partido Hannara" califica tal contenido de "intervencion en sus asuntos internos" e insiste en "disculpa" por ello, lo cual no pasa de ser una queja de quienes se hallan en una situacion agonica, senala el documento y prosigue:
    Como ya es notorio, en el citado acto conmemorativo el informante asevero que si el "partido Hannara" toma el poder, no se llevara a la practica la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, se quedaran asperges la cooperacion y el intercambio Norte-Sur y todo el pais se envolvera en las llamas de la guerra.
    Si estas palabras hieren sus oidos, el "partido Hannara" no debe oponerse a la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio aplaudida por toda la nacion, sino abandonar su arraigada propension a servir a EE.UU., maniaco de guerra.
    Si el "partido Hannara" no deja su mal habito, no le habra el futuro.

Delegado coreano exhorta a prevenir carrera armamentista en espacio

    Pyongyang, 15 de junio (ATCC) -- El delegado de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea hizo uso de la palabra durante el debate sobre la prohibicion de la carrera armamentista en el espacio en la sesion plenaria de la Conferencia de Desarme efectuada el dia 8 en Ginebra. 　El orador senalo que la preparacion de un nuevo molde juridico para prevenir comprensiva y eficazmente la carrera armamentista en el espacio se presenta como un problema apremiante al juzgar la situacion en que se han anulado o son confusos ciertos convenios relativos a la prohibicion de colocacion de armas en el espacio y realmente se realiza a fuerzas la intencion de establecimiento del sistema de armas para el espacio.
    　Utilizar con fines pacificos el espacio es la unanime demanda de los pueblos del mundo, dijo el orador y se refirio a que de acuerdo con las resoluciones concernidas de la Asamblea General de la ONU, la Conferencia de Desarme se ha esforzado de continuo por consultar el global documento juridico para prevenir la carrera armamentista en el espacio.
    　La delegacion de la RPDC -dijo el- apoya el proyecto de constituir el comite especial para la prohibicion de la carrera armamentista en el espacio y de comenzar las negociaciones sobre este problema en la presente reunion.
    　El delegado coreano expreso esperanza de que el debate concentrado y sistematico sobre los puntos de la agenda de la Conferencia del Desarme contribuira a la creacion de un ambiente favorable a acordar un plan de la labor y a alargarlo a las negociaciones.
