KPA Air Force Command Warns against U.S. Ceaseless Military Provocations

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The Air Force Command of the Korean People's Army released today the following report on the ceaseless military provocation perpetrated by the U.S. imperialist warmongers: The U.S. imperialist warmongers committed one more military provocation by infiltrating a strategic reconnaissance plane into the sky above the DPRK's economic waters on June 16.
    At around 8:00 Friday an "RC-135" of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces illegally intruded into the sky above the waters of the DPRK east of Chongjin, Hwadae and Riwon and spied on its strategic targets for hours, being refueled in the midair.
    The ceaseless illegal intrusions of their strategic reconnaissance planes on spy missions have created an imminent danger of military clash in the sky above those waters.
    The KPA Air Force warns them once again that should those planes persist in their reckless air espionage despite its repeated warnings, they will not be able to escape the same end as that of a tiger moth fated to perish in the flames and the responsibility for that will wholly rest with the U.S. imperialist warmongers.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Start of Work at WPK Central Committee Marked Abroad

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Seminars were held by the Bangladesh National Socialist Party, the Socialist Party of Romania and the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party from June 8 to 11 on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. The chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh National Socialist Party said that the feature of Korea where the leader, the party and the masses have formed a community of destiny is stirring up admiration of the world. The single-minded unity of Korea is the source of all achievements in building a great prosperous powerful nation, he added.
    The chairman of the Supreme Council of the Socialist Party of Romania said that the WPK has grown to be an invincible party absolutely supported and trusted by the people, which would have been unthinkable without the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    The deputy secretary of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party stressed that what is distinguished in the exploits performed by Kim Jong Il is that he has increased the defence capability in every way with his Songun politics and consolidated the single-minded unity as firm as a rock, thus turning the DPRK into a powerful socialist fortress.
    A meeting was held in Altanbulag County, Tov Province, Mongolia, and a lecture and a film show were held at the Philosophy Institute of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences on June 8 to mark the 42nd anniversary of Kim Jong Il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee, the sixth anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the month of the anti-U.S. joint struggle (June 25-July 27).

Brisk Campaign for Commemoration Day of June 15 Joint Declaration in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Public circles of south Korea are conducting a brisk campaign for declaring the institution of the "commemoration day of the June 15 joint declaration" on the occasion of the June 15 grand festival for national reunification, according to a press report. The headquarters of workers, peasants, women and youth and students of the South Side Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration held a joint press conference in Seoul on June 12 and demanded the authorities institute June 15 as the commemoration day of the joint declaration.
    The press conference heard a report that at least 12,000 "national assemblymen", elders and members of civic and public organizations and citizens have signed the signature paper for the institution of the commemoration day.
    Speakers called upon people from all walks of life to take an active part in the signature campaign to affirm the importance of the campaign and the significance of the joint declaration and implement it.

Friendship Meeting Held on National Day of Sweden

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- A friendship meeting with staff members of the Swedish embassy here was held at Pyongyang Janggyong Primary School on June 15 on the occasion of the national day of Sweden. Present on invitation were Swedish Ambassador Mats Foyer and embassy officials.
    On hand were Hong Son Ok, vice-chairperson of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, members of the Korea-Sweden Friendship Association, teachers and pupils of the school.

German Embassy Officials Help Farmers

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- German Ambassador to the DPRK Friedrich Ludwig Loehr and embassy officials gave a helping hand to the Korea-Germany Friendship Sunan Farm in field work on June 15. They did weeding in the maize field, helping the farmers in urgent farm work.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Start of Work at WPK Central Committee Marked

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held by the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Workers and trade union members met at the Central Workers' Hall. Chairman of the C.C., the GFTUK Ryom Sun Gil made a report there to be followed by speeches.
    The reporter and speakers said it was an event of special mention which opened a prospect of certain victory for the country and the nation that Kim Jong Il took the helm of the WPK. Inter-Korean Joint Event Held

    Kwangju, June 15 (KCNA Correspondent) -- A joint event of authorities of the north and the south sides was held in Kwangju, south Korea on Thursday to mark the sixth anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration. Present at the event were a delegation of authorities of the north side headed by Kim Yong Dae, vice-chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, and a delegation of authorities of the south side headed by Ri Jong Sok, minister of Unification, and advisers of both sides.
    Speeches were made there.
    Ri Jong Sok in his speech said that although there were difficulties and complications in the process of advancing the south-north relations in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration for the past six years, the joint declaration has served as a beacon indicating the way the Korean nation should go.
    Stressing that the Korean nation should have willingness to shape its future by its own efforts according to its will, he said that the authorities of the south and the north should positively work to heal pains and wounds caused by national division.
    Kim Yong Dae said in his speech that delegations of both sides' authorities are participating in the grand national festival for reunification which is full of nation.$B!G.(Bs ardent desire for independent reunification this year, too, following the June 15 and August 15 festivals last year.     Ju Jin Gu, adviser of the north side, said that the June 15 era will dynamically advance and north-south relations will develop when the authorities of the north and the south rely on their own nation with the stand of attaching importance and priority to the nation and solve all the problems by the Korean nation itself.

Japanese Reactionaries' Distortion of History Assailed

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The "Yasukuni Shrine" of Japan published Korean versions of booklets distorting history. Dismissing this as an insult to and mockery of the Korean people, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Friday says: The booklets contend that "the Pacific war was inevitable" and "the Tokyo Tribunal of War Crimes was a unilateral trial orchestrated by the allied nations".
    The "Yasukuni Shrine" is playing petty tricks to create conditions favorable for Japan to evade the settlement of its past and downplay the hostility and vigilance of the Korean people against Japan by justifying its history of aggression through a false propaganda mainly among Koreans. This is, in essence, a broad hoax to launch reinvasion of Korea.
    The point is that the Japanese authorities are zealously defending and encouraging such criminal acts.
    The right-wing conservative political forces of Japan would be well advised not to use "Yasukuni Shrine" as a stepping stone for seizing power and a means of instilling the militarist idea and heating up the atmosphere for reinvasion. This is born out by the fact that the Japanese ruling circle's visits to the shrine entail complicated problems, give rise to sharper international criticism of Japan and precipitate its isolation.
    The Japanese reactionaries had better immediately stop tampering with history. That will be good to Japan itself.

Meeting for Three-Point Patriotic Movement Held in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) reportedly had a "meeting for the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity on June 15, the day of by our nation itself", in Kwangju on Thursday. The meeting brought together more than 700 members of the alliance. Chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon Ri Kyu Jae and other speakers said the fellow countrymen in the south and the north and overseas were advancing vigorously along the road of national reunification with the slogan "Let us dynamically wage the three-point patriotic movement under the banner of 'By our nation itself'".
    "By our nation itself" represents the strength indicating a shortcut to the removal of the anti-reunification forces and the way of stopping the conservative forces' moves to disturb the June 15 joint declaration, they said, underlining the need for the forces backing the joint declaration to be united so as to put their actions for its implementation on the right track.
    The resolution adopted at the meeting stated that the South Headquarters of Pomminryon would work energetically to achieve national independence and unity under the banner of "By our nation itself" and put fresh muscles into the movement for independent reunification.
    It said the organization would conduct vigorous actions to dispel the dark clouds of war hanging over the Korean Peninsula and attain peace and exert itself to the utmost to achieve the unity of June 15 forces and great national unity.
    An art performance on the theme of the three-point patriotic movement and "By our nation itself" was given at the end of the meeting.

S. Korean "Government's" Unreasonable Measure Flailed

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) and the Reunification Solidarity in south Korea reportedly held a joint press conference in front of the building of the "Ministry of Unification" in Seoul on June 14 to denounce the "government" for having taken an unreasonable measure to bar delegates of overseas Koreans from participating in the June 15 grand festival for national reunification. Speakers including Kim Kyu Chol, chairman of the Seoul City Federation of Pomminryon, and Choe Un Min, chairman of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, accused the "government" authorities of having refused to permit the participation of five delegates of overseas Koreans in the festival for the reconciliation and unity of the nation.
    Asking what is obstructing the whole nation when it is eager to achieve reunification through its unity, they blasted the "government's" refusal to allow the above-said persons' participation in the events.
    A press release issued at the conference recalled that the "government" has barred delegates of overseas Koreans from participating in the festival by invoking the "National Security Law", a leftover of the Cold War era. This is an unreasonable reckless anachronistic action, it charged.
    It urged the "government" not to yield to the pressure of the conservative forces but immediately lift the label of an "enemy-benefiting organization" attached to Pomminryon.

June 15 Joint Declaration Hailed as Programme of Reunification

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The June 15 joint declaration in which the north and the south of Korea committed themselves to work in unity on the road of national independence for its reunification serves as a programme and landmark of national reunification as it ushered in the new era of great national unity and independent reunification, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed article. The joint declaration is a banner of the reunification movement which all the Koreans should unswervingly uphold and maintain until the independent and peaceful reunification of the country is achieved, the article notes, and goes on:
    The joint declaration is a declaration of peace against war which provides a guarantee for removing the danger of a new war and achieving peaceful reunification and a banner of patriotism that gives spur to national development and prosperity.
    Genuine patriotism lies in implementing the joint declaration. All the Koreans should firmly preserve the principle of national independence, reject outsiders' interference in the reunification issue and jointly pave the way of reunification, shelving differences, to meet the interests of the nation as stipulated in the joint declaration.

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- A Koryo pharmaceutical book "Substitute Koryo Medicines" was brought out in the DPRK recently. The book comprehensively systematizes the theoretical and practical issues arising in using substitute materials for the raw materials of Koryo medicines which are less or poor in the country.
    It tells how to find substitute raw materials of Koryo medicines and prescriptions of substitute Koryo medicines according to 100 diseases.

S. Korean Security Authorities Denounced for Their Unreasonable Action

    Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the North Side Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration released a statement on Friday to denounce the south Korean security authorities for barring figures of the overseas Korean side from participating in the grand festival for national reunification to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the joint declaration in Kwangju, south Korea on the charge of "espionage," etc. Though six years have passed since the publication of the joint declaration, they prevented delegates of overseas Koreans from entering south Korea by invoking the fascist "National Security Law" dating back to the old era of confrontation, the statement said, adding:
    This is an illegal action which can never be justified. If any overseas Korean should have been branded as a "spy" arbitrarily for the mere reason that he had got in touch with pro-reunification figures supporting the June 15 joint declaration in south Korea, then all figures participating in the Kwangju festival for reunification must have been equally charged with "espionage."
    The south Korean fascist security authorities should know well that by perpetrating too anachronistic an action this time they made it impossible for them to escape the curse and denunciation of the whole Korean nation.
    The above-said action convinced the Koreans that south Korea is not suitable for hosting such nation-wide festival for reunification in the future as long as there remains in force the "NSL," a leftover of the past fascist dictatorship.

Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

He went round the room devoted to the history of the unit.     La parte de "santuario Yasukuni" se propone difundir desinformaciones sobre la historia de agresion principalmente para con los coreanos, preparar una condicion favorable a evadir la liquidacion de su pasado criminal y mitigar el sentimiento de hostilidad a Japon y la precaucion del pueblo coreano. Esto es en su esencia una artimana para acarrear un nubarron de nueva agresion a Corea.
    Lo problematico es que tales actos criminales los amparan y promueven activamente las autoridades japonesas.
    Las derechistas fuerzas politicas conservadoras de Japon deben dejar de utilizar el "santuario Yasukuni" como remedio para la toma del poder y para la propaganda de la idea militarista y la creacion de un ambiente de nueva agresion. Participaron los miembros de las delegaciones de autoridades y civiles del Norte y el Sur de Corea y de la parte ultramarina.
    Tambien estuvieron presentes Kim Yong Dae, vicepresidente del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria y Ri Jong Sok, ministro de Reunificacion quienes presiden las delegaciones de autoridades del Norte y el Sur de Corea.
    El conclave discutio los medios que los coreanos del Norte, el Sur y en ultramar deben tomar al librar los tres movimientos patrioticos por la reunificacion independiente, por la paz contra la guerra y por la gran unidad nacional para defender la dignidad y soberania de la nacion, preservar la paz y seguridad del pais y adelantar la reunificacion de la patria.
    An Kyong Ho, presidente del comite de la parte Norte y copresidente del comite conjunto nacional para la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, al hacer uso de la palabra, hizo constar que despues de la publicacion de esta Declaracion se lograron grandes exitos en el movimiento por la reunificacion de la patria y senalo que esto constituye un historico avance en las relaciones Norte-Sur.
    Debemos tomar por jalon de reunificacion los tres principios de la reunificacion de la patria, programa comun nacional para esta causa maxima y la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y llevarlos a la practica, dijo el orador y llamo a los compatriotas del Norte, el Sur y ultramar a lograr la solidaridad mas estrecha y registrar un mayor avance en los tres movimientos patrioticos.
    Paek Rak Chong, presidente del comite de la parte Sur y copresidente del comite conjunto nacional para la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, al usar palabra en el evento, destaco que en cualesquier circunstancias dificiles el Sur y el Norte deben llevar a una nueva fase el dialogo y la cooperacion, y llamo a hacer esfuerzos activos por prevenir un crisis de guerra sobre esta tierra, relajar la tension militar y elevar la tendencia a la paz.
    Debemos ampliar de modo decisivo la anchura de la gran unidad nacional y fortalecer mas el intercambio para elevar el ambiente de la reconciliacion y unidad nacional en todas las partes del Sur y el Norte, apunto.
    Mun Tong Hwan, copresidente del comite de la parte ultramarina, en su discurso, destaco que despues de la publicacion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio nuestra nacion se hace una al paso del tiempo y anadio que por el dialogo politico y la cooperacion economica entre el Norte y el Sur se demuele la alta barrera entre ambas partes.
    A continuacion los delegados del Norte, el Sur y ultramar hicieron uso de la palabra.
    Para librar con mas energia los tres movimientos patrioticos por la reunificacion independiente, por la paz contra la guerra y por la gran unidad nacional bajo la bandera de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, -senalaron-, hay que fortalecer mas el comite conjunto nacional del 15 de junio y elevar decisivamente su funcion y papel.
    En el congreso se aprobo un llamamiento dirigido a los coreanos del Norte, el Sur y ultramar.
    El documento senala que la "reunificacion entre nosotros, los connacionales" es una bandera patriotica comun de la nacion que debemos enarbolar y llama a colocar en primer plano la nacion, dar importancia a los intereses de la nacion y lograr la prosperidad comun de la nacion.
    Tambien exhorta a abrir el ancho camino de la reunificacion con la independencia nacional, defender la seguridad de la nacion con el movimiento pannacional por la paz y preparar una nueva era de la reunificacion de la patria con la gran unidad nacional.
    Lo mas apremiante en la epoca de reunificacion del 15 de junio es la gran unidad nacional, senala el documento y subraya que quienes desean de veras la reunificacion del pais deben realizar la gran unidad nacional cuyo centro es el "comite conjunto nacional del 15 de junio" superando todas las diferencias del Norte, el Sur y ultramar.
    Ese dia por la tarde tuvieron lugar la reunion de copresidentes del comite conjunto nacional para la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y el encuentro de los delegados de las ramas, estratos y entidades del Norte y el Sur.
    Los participantes en el congreso vieron una funcion de los artistas de ambas partes.
    Ese dia por la noche se ofrecio un banquete por el 6 aniversario de la publicacion de la citada Declaracion Conjunta.

Acto conjunto de autoridades N-S

    Kwangju, 15 de junio (Corresponsal de la ATCC) -- En celebracion del 6o aniversario de la publicacion de la historica Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, tuvo lugar el dia 15 en esta ciudad el acto conjunto de las autoridades del Norte y el Sur de Corea con la participacion de las delegaciones de autoridades de ambas partes y sus miembros consultivos presididos por el vicepresidente del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria Kim Yong Dae y el ministro sureno de Reunificacion Ri Jong Sok, respectivamente. En el acto hubo discursos.
    Hubo dificultades y vicisitudes en el curso de estos 6 anos para llevar adelante las relaciones Sur-Norte conforme al espiritu de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, pero, este documento nos sirvio de faro para iluminar el camino a seguir por nosotros, senalo Ri Jong Sok y subrayo:
    　Debemos tomar la posicion de forjar el futuro de nuestra nacion con nuestra propia fuerza y voluntad. Las autoridades de ambas partes deben actuar con dinamismo para eliminar los sufrimientos y las heridas dejados por la division nacional.
    Kim Yong Dae dijo que las delegaciones de autoridades de ambas partes se habian encontrado el 15 de junio y el 15 de agosto del ano pasado y este ano participan juntos en el presente gran certamen para la reunificacion en que se manifiesta la aspiracion de la nacion a la reunificacion independiente y anadio que esto es una demostracion en el interior y exterior de la voluntad de las autoridades de ambas partes de mantener y ejecutar invariablemente la Declaracion Conjunta y es su disposicion de tomar la delantera en los movimientos patrioticos por la reunificacion independiente, por la paz contra la guerra y por la gran unidad nacional como protagonistas de la ejecucion de la citada Declaracion Conjunta.
    En la empresa para lograr la gran unidad nacional las autoridades de ambas partes no deben ser meros espectadores ni observadores, sino cumplir papel protagonico y centrico. Deben apoyar activamente sin distincion alguna la lucha patriotica de las entidades civiles del movimiento por la reunificacion y facilitar con sinceridad sus actividades, recalco.
    Acto seguido, pronunciaron discursos los miembros consultivos de ambas delegaciones.
    El miembro consultivo de la parte Sur Jong Se Hyon subrayo la necesidad de fortalecer y llevar a la practica la reconciliacion y la cooperacion entre el Sur y el Norte conforme al espiritu de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y anadio que las autoridades de ambas partes deben cumplir con su papel y mision.
    Avanzara con mas pujanza la epoca del 15 de Junio y progresaran las relaciones N-S cuando las autoridades de ambas partes se esfuercen por apoyarse en su nacion y resolver todos los problemas con las fuerzas propias de la nacion, recalco el miembro consultivo de la parte nortena, Ju Jin Gu.
