Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Start of Work at C.C., WPK Observed in Different Countries

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- A meeting, round-table talks and a film show were held in Hungary, Romania and Thailand from June 14 to 16 to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Gyula Thurmer, chairman of the Hungarian Communist Workers' Party, in a speech at the meeting referred to the fact that Kim Jong Il made sure that Comrade Kim Il Sung is held in high esteem as the eternal President of the DPRK and has led the Party and people with his Songun leadership, converting the DPRK into an invulnerable socialist fortress.
    Niculae Pavelescu, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Left United Party of Romania, noted at the round-table talks that the WPK has demonstrated its might as an invincible party, experienced and seasoned party absolutely supported by the people under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, adding that the history of his leadership over the Party would shine forever in history.
    Somkipat Tumtherawat, director of the Oriental Paper Company of Thailand, after watching a Korean film said that Kim Jong Il is the only leader of the people in the world, adding it was under his leadership that socialist Korea could become an independent and powerful country with strong national power.
    A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting held in Hungary.

Agreement on Cooperation between DPRK and Syrian Children's Organizations Signed

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- An agreement on friendship and cooperation between the Korean Children's Union of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and the Syria Baath Children Organization was signed at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Monday. Present at the signing ceremony from the DPRK side were Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the C.C., the youth league, and officials concerned and from the Syrian side members of the Syria Baath Children Organization delegation headed by Chairman Ahmad Abou Musa and Syrian Charge d'Affaires ad Interim here Muhammad Adib Al Hani.
    The agreement was inked by Kim Kyong Ho and Ahmad Abou Musa.

Anniversary of University of National Economics Marked

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- A seminar took place Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the University of National Economics. Present there were officials concerned, teachers and students of the university.
    Presented there were papers titled "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Is the Eternal Teacher Who Founded the University of National Economics and Developed It into a Comprehensive Centre for Training Cadres Managing State Economy" and "Respected Comrade Kim Jong Il Is the Great Leader Who Has Strengthened and Developed the University of National Economics into a Centre for Training Reliable Cadres for the Songun Revolutionary Cause".
    Speakers recalled that President Kim Il Sung with a deep insight into the importance of the work for training native cadres in building a new country after the liberation founded the Central Higher Leading Cadres Training School, a predecessor of the university, on July 1, Juche 35 (1946), and clearly indicated ways for it to follow in each period and at every stage of the revolution and construction.
    They said that General Secretary Kim Jong Il, who has worked hard to translate the noble intention of the President into reality, clarified the basic mission and general task of the university as required by the developing revolution and has built it into a reliable centre for training cadres for the Songun revolutionary cause.
    The 60-year-long history of the university is associated with the deep benevolence of the Workers' Party of Korea, they said, adding that Kim Jong Il praised the teachers as standard-bearers in the struggle to uphold the Party's ideas and theories and career revolutionaries training cadres managing state economy and has shown such profound care for the students so that they might become officials with a high political and ideological level and theoretical and practical ability.
    The speakers stressed the need for all the teachers and students to firmly arm themselves with the Juche-based theories on socialist economic management and prepare themselves as officials of ability loyal to the Songun idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Guinean Public Figure on June 15 Joint Declaration

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Gouressiou Bari, chairman of the Guinean Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, issued a statement on June 8 on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. June 15 was not only a historic occasion that set up a new landmark in the reunification movement of the Korean people but also a day of victory for the world progressives aspiring after peace and independence, he said, stressing that the adoption of the north-south joint declaration was a brilliant fruition of the great love for the country, the nation and the people and a victory of the idea of independence.
    With the adoption of the declaration, he said, the idea of national independence became the nationwide idea of the Korean people and the banner of "By our nation itself" began flying on the Korean Peninsula over which dark clouds of antagonism and confrontation had been hanging.
    He expressed the belief that the Korean people would certainly achieve the reunification of the country by implementing the joint declaration to the letter under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.

U.S. Moves to Modernize Nukes under Fire

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. holds 48 percent of a total amount of world military spending 1,118 billion U.S. dollars, according to data on world military spending made public by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute in Sweden some time ago. The bulk of it is being spent for the modernization of nukes and the militarization of space. Rodong Sinmun says this Tuesday in a signed commentary.
    The Bush group is now hell bent on stepping up the modernization of nukes under the pretext of "war on terrorism", sparking off a new nuclear arms race and bringing the danger of a thermonuclear war, which is a crime intended to inflict nuclear holocaust upon humankind, the commentary says, and goes on:
    The U.S. is the world's biggest possessor of nukes and it is not exposed to any nuclear threat. The U.S. moves for the modernization of nukes are aimed to make a preemptive nuclear attack on other countries and materialize its wild ambition for world supremacy.
    A new nuclear arms race is being triggered by the U.S. in the international arena.
    The amount of world military spending is reaching an astronomical figure and it is on the increase every year. This is mainly ascribable to the U.S. moves for a nuclear war, a space war. The U.S. is the principal criminal of the present nuclear arms race, the very one who harasses world peace and security.
    The U.S. should give up its wild ambition for nukes, mindful that its nuke modernization and space militarization will be a grave crime of disturbing world peace and security.

All Koreans Urged to Hold Higher Banner of Independence

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- In order to give steady momentum to the cause of national reunification, the Koreans should confidently advance along the road of independent reunification, holding higher the banner of national independence. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    Only when the Koreans firmly adhere to the principle of independence in the struggle to terminate the division of the country and pave the way for the development of the nation can they protect the rights and interests of the nation and settle the issue of reunification according to the will and requirements of the nation.
    The Korean nation was divided by the foreign forces which sought the partition of the Korean Peninsula and domination over it. The movement for national reunification is a struggle to protect national sovereignty from foreign domination and interference and exalt the national dignity.
    National reunification is a patriotic cause of the Korean nation which can never be accomplished by others. The Koreans should be responsible for national reunification, an issue related to their destiny and a matter related to the national dignity and sovereignty, and play such role. They should settle the issue of reunification by their concerted efforts according to the desire and wishes of the nation.
    Independence is the intrinsic nature of the cause of national reunification and keeps the nation alive. National reunification and future and prosperity of the nation would be unthinkable without independence. National independence serves as a patriotic banner to be always held aloft by the Koreans engaged in the movement for reunification, desirous of national reunification and the common prosperity of the nation.
    The U.S. imperialists are a basic obstacle to national reunification. The Koreans have not yet achieved reunification despite their strong desire for unity and reunification entirely because of the persistent and vicious moves of the U.S. imperialists to block the reunification of Korea.
    They should not tolerate even the slightest manifestation of foreign interference in the internal affairs of the nation but categorically reject it and independently settle the issue of national reunification through their negotiations.
    Without a resolute struggle against flunkeyism and dependence on foreign forces the Koreans can neither prevent foreign forces from meddling and obstructing the cause of reunification nor develop the inter-Korean relations.
    The Korean nation armed with the spirit of national independence alone can put an end to flunkeyism and dependence on foreign forces, an obstacle to reunification.
    With no desperate efforts can the U.S. and pro-U.S. conservative forces hold in check the dynamic advance of the June 15 era if all Koreans strengthen in every way the driving force for national reunification, guided by the strong spirit of national independence, and switch the movement for national reunification to a struggle for independent reunification through national cooperation, the article concludes.

World Women's Ice Hockey Championships Div 2 to Be Held in DPRK

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The world women's ice hockey championships Div 2 will be held in the DPRK in March Juche 96 (2007). It was decided at the annual general meeting of the International Ice Hockey Federation for 2006 held some time ago that the DPRK will host the championships in Pyongyang, the capital city.
    In connection with this, Mun Yong Song, secretary-general of the Korean Ice Hockey Association, told KCNA that the association will organize the championships in all sincerity.
    It will be participated in by the DPRK, Netherlands, Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria and Italy.

Hyonmu Gate, Showcase of Castle Gate Architecture

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- There are many architectural legacies in Korea. Among them is the Hyonmu Gate which is typical of unique castle gate architecture.
    It, located at the foot of Moran Hill, was the northern gate of the Walled City of Pyongyang during Koguryo Dynasty.
    The name of Hyonmu Gate was derived from the black tortoise-serpent, one of the four deities guardians -- Chongryong (blue dragon), Paekho (white tiger), Jujak (red bird) and Hyonmu (black tortoise-serpent) which were supposed to protect the east, west and south and the north among the ancient people of Korea.
    The first Hyonmu Gate was built in the middle of the 6th century. Its ground was built with quadrangular pyramid-shaped stones and the upper part of the gate from the middle built with well-trimmed fan-shaped stones in the form of arch.
    There stands a pavilion with hip-saddle roof supported by wooden pillars above the gate. The front of the pavilion is viewed as three compartments (7.05 m) and the flank as one compartment (3.1 m).
    It, suited to the topographical conditions of Moran Hill, is a treasure of the nation, which shows the developed castle gate architecture of Koguryo.
    It, destroyed by the U.S. indiscriminate bombing in the past Korean war, was restored to the original state in Juche 43 (1954).
    The gate is kept and managed as it was under the correct policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on preserving historical and cultural relics.

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Tuesday sent a message of greetings to Ismail Omar Guelleh, president of the Republic of Djibouti, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of its independence. Kim Jong Il Inspects Sub-Unit of KPA Unit

    Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 292. He acquainted himself with the unit's performance of duty before watching the training of soldiers.
    Seeing the commanding officers and soldiers engrossed in the training, he said they can glorify their worthy and proud life through training. He praised the servicepersons of the sub-unit for displaying great enthusiasm in the training.
    He learned about how soldiers are holding book-review sessions at the outdoor resting place and what musical instruments are being used to back their singing.
    He was satisfied to learn that the sub-unit has prepared its servicepersons as optimistic fighters who pull through any difficulties and bottlenecks with revolutionary songs, poems and dynamic dances.
    He went round supply service facilities.
    Feasting his eyes on the sideline fields around the barracks where crops for non-staple food are doing well, he said this is gratifying scenery in the era of Songun. He added that the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance serves as a source of inexhaustible strength to create something out of nothing.

    Pyongyang, 27 de junio (ATCC) -- Segun recientes datos publicados por el Instituto de Paz Internacional en Estocolmo de Suecia EE.UU. ocupa 48 por ciento de un billon 118 mil millones de dolares, suma total de gastos militares del mundo. Y la mayor parte de esta cifra esta destinada a la modernizacion de las armas nucleares y la militarizacion del cosmos. Ahora, bajo el pretexto de "antiterrorismo" la administracion Bush acelera desesperadamente la modernizacion de las armas nucleares y acarrea la nueva carrera armamentista nuclear y el peligro de la guerra nuclear. Esto deviene un acto criminal para dar una catastrofe nuclear a la humanidad.
    Asi comienza el comentario individual de periodico Rodong Sinmun insertado en el numero del dia 27 y continua:
    EE.UU. es el mayor poseedor de armas nucleares del mundo y no recibe la amenaza nuclear de alguien.
    Por tanto, la modernizacion de armas nucleares de ese pais americano es para dar el primer ataque nuclear a otros paises y realizar la ambicion de heguemonia mundial.
    Ahora, debido a EE.UU. levanta el viento de la nueva carrera armamentista nuclear en la escena internacional.
    La suma invertida al dominio militar llega a la cifra astronomica y tiende a aumentar de ano en ano, lo que se debe a las maquinaciones de esa superpotencia para la guerra nuclear y la cosmica. Por tanto, EE.UU. es el autor principal de la carrera armamentista nuclear y promotor principal de la perturbacion de la paz y la seguridad del mundo.
    EE.UU. debe tener presente de que tales maniobras suyas perturban la paz y la seguridad del mundo y abandonar su ambicion nuclear.

La independencia nacional es la via de la reunificacion de la patria

    Pyongyang, 27 de junio (ATCC) -- Para llevar adelante la causa de reunificacion de la patria la nacion coreana debe tomar con firmeza la via de la reunificacion independiente. Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 27 y continua:
    Al mantener firmemente el principio de la independencia en la lucha por poner fin a la division del pais y allanar el camino de desarrollo de la nacion podemos defender los derechos e intereses nacionales y resolver el problema de la reunificacion conforme a la voluntad y demanda de la nacion.
    La nacion coreana quedo dividida en dos partes por las fuerzas extranjeras que buscan la escision de la Peninsula Coreana y el dominio a esta. El movimiento por la reunificacion de la patria es la lucha por rechazar el dominio e intervencion de las fuerzas extranjeras que se oponen a la reunificacion de Corea, realizar por completo la soberania de la nacion y ejercer la dignidad de la nacion.
    La reunificacion de la patria es la causa patriotica de la nacion coreana insustituible por nadie. La nacion coreana debe ser dueno y desempenar el papel de este en la lucha por la reunificacion de la patria que es problema del destino y de la dignidad y la soberania de la nacion. Ademas se debe resolver el problema de la reunificacion con las fuerzas propias de nuestra nacion conforme a la voluntad y demanda de esta.
    La independencia es la demanda intrinseca de la causa de reunificacion de la patria y el modo de existencia de la nacion. Al margen de la independencia no se puede pensar en la reunificacion de la patria ni en la prosperidad futura de la nacion. La independencia nacional es la bandera patriotica que debe mantener siempre nuestra nacion que aspira a la reunificacion de la patria y la prosperidad comun de la nacion y que despliega el movimiento por la reunificacion.
    El obstaculo principal de la reunificacion de la patria es el imperialismo norteamericano. Si nuestra nacion aspirante a la unidad y reunificacion no ha logrado hasta ahora esta causa suprema se deben a las persistentes y siniestras maniobras opositoras de los imperialistas yanquis.
    　Nuestra nacion debe rechazar categoricamente la intervencion de las fuerzas extranjeras en los asuntos internos de la nacion y discutir y resolver de modo independiente entre los connacionales el problema de la reunificacion de la patria.
    　 Sin la resuelta lucha nacional contra el servilismo a las fuerzas extranjeras y la dependencia de estas es imposible detener la intervencion y las maniobras obstructoras de las fuerzas foraneas a la causa de la reunificacion y desarrollar las relaciones Norte-Sur.
    　 La fuerza para poner fin al entreguismo y dependencia de las fuerzas extranjeras que obstaculizan la reunificacion es la lucha unida de la nacion armada con el espiritu de independencia nacional.
    　 Si toda la nacion inspirada en el espiritu de independencia nacional fortalece por todos los medios el sujeto de la reunificacion de la patria y despliega por via independiente el movimiento por la reunificacion de la patria con el poderio de la cooperacion nacional sera indetenible la impetuosa marcha de la epoca del 15 de junio por mas desesperadas que sean las maniobras de EE.UU. y las fuerzas conservadoras entreguistas a este imperio.

Corea patrocinara juegos de Campeonato Mundial de Hockey Femenino

    Pyongyang, 27 de junio (ATCC) -- En Corea se efectuara en marzo del 96 (2007) de la Era Juche los juegos de la clase B del Campeonato Mundial de Hockey Femenino Sobre el Hielo. 　Una resolucion sobre este particular quedo aprobada en la recien efectuada asamblea anual del 2006 de la Federacion Internacional de Hockey Sobre el Hielo.
    　En relacion con la definicion de Pyongyang, capital de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea como sede patrocinadora, el secretario de la Asociacion Coreana de Hockey Sobre el Hielo Mun Yong Song senalo que haria todos los esfuerzos sinceros por organizar excelentemente la competencia.
    　En el certamen participaran Corea, Holanda, Eslovenia, Slovensco, Austria e Italia.

Sublime concepcion del pueblo del Dirigente Kim Jong Il

    Pyongyang, 27 de junio (ATCC) -- Cuando ve una cosa preparada para el pueblo el Dirigente Kim Jong Il pregunta al funcionario "? el pueblo gustara de ella?". Estas palabras reflejan la sublime concepcion del pueblo del Dirigente quien pone al pueblo en el primer lugar de todos sus pensamientos y practicas. En octubre del 91 (2002) de la Era Juche el Dirigente visito la Fabrica de Alimentos Basicos de Hamhung.
    Un funcionario de la fabrica le dijo que su fabrica producia la pasta de soya muy aromatica y sabrosa. Entonces el Dirigente la degusto personalmente y se mostro satisfecho al escuchar la explicacion de que a todos los habitantes les gustaban la salsa y pasta de soya de esta fabrica.
    En marzo pasado hizo una visita de orientacion a las instalaciones de cultura, deporte y servicio gastronomico, construidas nuevamente en la cabeza distrital de Samjiyon. En el restaurante de fideos de Pegaebong, subrayo la necesidad de prodigar atencion primordial al servicio al pueblo.
    Al salir del restaurante se mostro muy alegre al ver el edificio con el techo al estilo coreano.
    　El gran afecto por el pueblo del Dirigente esta impregnado hasta en los articulos de tocador para mujeres, jabones de buena calidad, telas de seda, vasijas de vidrio duro, carnes y huevos que se producen en las modernas plantas avicolas.
    　Hoy dia el pueblo coreano goza de una vida feliz gracias al Dirigente quien considera la alegria del pueblo como la suya.
