Reunion of Separated Families and Relatives Closes

    Mt. Kumgang Resort, June 30 (KCNA) -- The 14th reunion of separated families and relatives which began on June 19 continued in Mt. Kumgang Resort. The separated families and relatives from the north made a group reunion with those from the south on June 25.
    Min Kyong Chun, Han Kyu Bin and others from the north told those from the south that all the people should turn out in the struggle for great national unity and the reunification of the country under the banner of "By our nation itself".
    Separated families and relatives from the north and the south had a group reunion on June 28.
    They were overcome with deep emotion as they had longed to reunite with each other even in dreams. They talked with each other about the course of their life, inquired after those who were not able to join them and conveyed tidings from them.
    Kim Yong Nam from the north, together with his wife, daughter and son, reunited with his mother and sister from the south, sharing warm kindred feelings.
    He was happy to offer the 80th birthday spread to his mother and present wild insam, clothing materials and other souvenirs to his mother and sister. And he shared with them his pent-up inmost thoughts in a family atmosphere. He was also interviewed by south Korean reporters.

Polish Preparatory Committee for Remembering President Kim Il Sung Inaugurated

    Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The Polish Preparatory Committee for Remembering President Kim Il Sung was inaugurated in Warsaw on June 26. Addressing an inaugural ceremony, Tadeusz Bialkowski, first vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Poland-Korea Association, said that the world people recollect with deep reverence the great life of Kim Il Sung who had devoted everything to the happiness of the people.

Fidel Castro Ruz Receives DPRK Government Delegation

    Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Fidel Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, president of the Council of State and president of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, met and had a friendly conservation with the DPRK government delegation headed by Jon Sung Hun, vice-premier of the Cabinet, on a visit to Cuba at the building of the Council of State on June 29. He said that the Cuban people are always with the Korean people, adding that Cuba will positively support and encourage the Korean people in their struggle for justice, truth and independence.

DPRK's Self-Defensive Steps Favored

    Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- We fully support all the self-defensive steps taken by socialist Korea to defend its territory and the dignity and honor of the nation from the U.S. imperialists' aggression under the condition that the U.S. is constantly threatening the DPRK. The Asian Regional Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, the All-India Indo-Korean Friendship Association and the Indian Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification said this in a joint statement issued on June 24 on the occasion of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people.
    The U.S. troops stationed in south Korea are the main obstacle standing in the way of peaceful reunification of Korea, the statement said, stressing that they will demand immediate withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea and stir up public opinions for peaceful reunification of Korea, the ardent desire of all the Korean people.
    Meanwhile, Niculae Pavelescu, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Left United Party of Romania, issued a statement on June 27 on the occasion of the June 25-July 27 month of the anti-U.S. joint struggle. He said in the statement that the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il is the most powerful weapon to counter the U.S. policy of strength and a just political mode to ensure peace and security in Asia and achieve the reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

    Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The nation-wide movement for independent national reunification requires to put an end to the U.S. policy of making south Korea into its military base and drive the U.S. imperialist aggressors out of south Korea, which is a vital issue related to the destiny of the nation and an urgent demand of the times that brooks no further delay. Kim Jong Il Sends Message of Greetings to Hu Jintao

    The founding of the CPC was an epochal event which opened up a new chapter in the long history of the Chinese nation.

Month of Anti- U.S. Joint Struggle Observed in Mexico and France

    Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Functions for solidarity with the Korean people including meetings were held by the Mexican Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification and the France-Korea Friendship Association on June 23 and 24 on the occasion of the month of anti-U.S. joint struggle (June 25-July 27). Alejandro Rosales Sanchez, chairman of the Mexican Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, in a speech at a meeting praised President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il for their immortal exploits performed in the cause of national reunification.

    Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- A meeting, a lecture, a book and photo exhibition and a film show were held in Sweden and Mongolia on June 19 on the occasions of the 42nd anniversary of Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the 6th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the month of anti-U.S. joint struggle (June 25-July 27). Committee to Remember Kim Il Sung Inaugurated by Koreans in Russia

    Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- The Central Association of Korean Nationals in Russia inaugurated the Committee to Remember President Kim Il Sung on June 26. Ju Hui Chol, chairman of the association, was elected chairman of the committee.

Halt to Military Exercises RIMPAC-2006 Demanded in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration reportedly made public a statement titled "Stop large-scale north-targeted war exercises RIMPAC" on June 26. The statement noted that the U.S.-led large joint military exercises RIMPAC-2006 were launched on June 25 in the waters of the Pacific and will last until July 29 as part of the moves to invade the north.
    It said that the exercises now being staged by the U.S. and its followers under the pretext of "ensuring security" in sea routes and "jointly countering terrorism" in contingency are the most provocative and dangerous war maneuvers targeted against the north in their scale and duration.

Anniversary of Korean Documentary and Scientific Film Studio Marked

    Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Friday to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean Documentary and Scientific Film Studio. Folk Dance Company of Russia Performs in Pyongyang

Anniversary of University of National Economics Marked

U.S. Denounced for Deploying Ultra-Modern Reconnaissance Plane in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- The U.S. has deployed latest "U-2 S Block 20" in south Korea, timed to coincide with its evermore undisguised military threat and blackmail against the DPRK. This is another grave military provocation against the DPRK and an extremely dangerous move for a war of aggression against it to push the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said this in a statement on June 30.
    The reality clearly indicates that the U.S. remains unchanged in its criminal attempt to stifle the DPRK by force of arms, the statement noted, and continued:

Inter-Korean Sports Talks Held

    Kaesong, June 30 (KCNA) -- Talks were held between the north and the south of Korea here on Thursday to discuss the matter of forming their unified team to participate in the 29th Olympiad to be held in Beijing in 2008. Present at the talks from the north side were delegates led by Son Kwang Ho, vice-chairman of the National Olympic Committee, and from the south side delegates with Pak Song In, vice-chairman of the Olympic Committee, as chief delegate.
    Both sides had an exhaustive discussion on the matters related to the formation of the unified team and made public a joint press release.
    According to the release, they shared the understanding that it conforms with the basic spirit of the June 15 joint declaration for the north and the south to participate in the Beijing Olympiad in 2008 as a unified team and agreed to hold the next talks at Mt. Kumgang resort in mid-July to continue the discussion on technical matters for the formation of the unified team.

Terminado 14o encuentro de familiares y parientes separados N-S

    Monte Kumgang, 30 de junio (ATCC) -- Prosiguio en el monte Kumgang el decimocuarto encuentro especial entre los familiares y parientes separados en el Norte y el Sur de Corea, iniciado el 19 de junio. 　Hubo encuentros en colectivo los dias 25 y 28.
    　En la cita del 25, Min Kyong Chun, Han Kyu Bin y otros norcoreanos llamaron a sus consanguineos surcoreanos a luchar activamente por la gran unidad nacional y la reunificacion de la patria bajo la bandera del ideal "entre nosotros, los connacionales".
    　El dia 28, los reunidos hablaron de la trayectoria de sus respectivas vidas, se informaron de las condiciones de los familiares y parientes, que no pudieron llegar al encuentro, e intercambiaron otras noticias.
    　Junto a su esposa y dos hijos de ambos generos, el norcoreano Kim Yong Nam se encontro con su madre y hermana mayor, residentes en el Sur de Corea.
    　Aprovechando esta ocasion, el preparo una mesa en honor del 80 aniversario de nacimiento de su madre y entrego a esta y a su hermana Insam (ginseng) silvestre, telas y otros recuerdos.
    　En un ambiente familiar ellos contaron reciprocamente sus vivencias y Kim concedio una rueda de prensa con los reporteros surcoreanos.
    　Los reunidos de ambas partes coreanas subrayaron la necesidad de lograr la reunificacion de la patria uniendo la voluntad y las fuerzas de todos los connacionales para legarla a las generaciones venideras.
    　Despues de citas colectivas ellos se encontraron por unidad de familias.
    　Por otra parte, el Comite Central de la Asociacion de la Cruz Roja del Norte y la Sociedad de la Cruz Roja del Sur ofrecieron una recepcion en honor de los familiares y parientes separados.
    　Durante el presente encuentro especial, efectuado en ocasion del 6 aniversario de la publicacion de la historica Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio, los familiares y parientes separados estrecharon la fraternidad comiendo juntos en un ambiente familiar y ameno y recorriendo alrededores del famoso lago Samil.

Rodong Sinmun conmemora el 85 aniversario del PCCh

    Pyongyang, 1 de julio (ATCC) -- El diario Rodong Sinmun dedico este sabado un editorial al 85 aniversario de la fundacion del Partido Comunista de China (PCCh) subrayando que el pueblo coreano desea de todo corazon al hermano pueblo chino mayores exitos en la lucha por cumplir su justa causa bajo la guia de esta entidad politica. La fundacion del PCCh en el primero de julio de 1921 significo un evento historico de trascendental importancia para la revolucion china y la lucha del pueblo chino, recuerda el Rodong Sinmun y continua:
    El pueblo chino pudo avanzar sin vacilacion alguna por el camino de lucha y transformaciones desde cuando comenzo a contar con la direccion de esa verdadera entidad vanguardia.
    El partido y el pueblo de Corea se regocija de los suyos de los grandes exitos que alcanzaron en el pasado el partido y el pueblo de China en la construccion del socialismo y la lucha por la reintegracion del pais y los felicitan sinceramente.
    Es muy prometedora la justa causa del pueblo chino que entro en avance continuo.
    Hoy, el pueblo chino, bajo la direccion del PCCh cuyo secretario general es el respetado camarada Hu Jintao, emprendio una nueva marcha para alcanzar altas metas de la construccion y modernizacion del socialismo tipico de China.
    En particular, lucha activamente por construir en sentido general una sociedad basicamente acomodada, meta estrategica presentada en el 16o congreso del PCCh.
    El pueblo coreano desea de todo corazon al partido y al pueblo chinos mayores exitos en esta labor y se solidariza fuertemente con la justa lucha de estos por la reintegracion nacional.
    Fortalecer y desarrollar mas la tradicional amistad Corea-China es una aspiracion comun de los pueblos de ambos paises.
    El desarrollo de las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion entre los dos paises vecinos impulsa la revolucion y la construccion de ambas partes y contribuye al mantenimiento de la paz y la seguridad de Asia y el resto del planeta y a la construccion de un mundo nuevo y justo.
    Ya en el nuevo siglo la amistad Corea-China entra en una etapa mas alta.
    El partido y el pueblo de Corea se mantienen en su invariable posicion de consolidar y desarrollar constantemente las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion con China.
    La tradicional amistad Corea-China se fortalecera mas en el nuevo siglo gracias a los esfuerzos conjuntos de los partidos y los pueblos de los dos paises.
