Tenacious U.S. Confrontation Psychology against DPRK Revealed

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The "national defense authorization act for fiscal year 2007" passed through the U.S. Senate in June calls on the state and defense departments to submit to the Congress a report on "deterrent to north Korea" of the "UN Command" present in south Korea. The report is to specify the possibility of requesting the nations, which took part in the Korean war, to dispatch their troops in peace time in a bid to reinforce the "deterrent to north Korea" of the "UN Command", those nations which are able to send troops and, in case they are dispatched, the effect on the diplomatic efforts to remove "nuclear threat" from someone, and so one and so forth.

    The countries concerned should make a cool-headed analysis of the situation obtaining on the Korean Peninsula and refrain from doing a thing not helpful to world peace and security.

Songun Policy Praised in Syria

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- A vice-dean of the Political Faculty of University of Damascus in Syria, issued a statement titled "Might of Songun Idea and Policy" on July 12 on the occasion of the month of anti-U.S. joint struggle (June 25-July 27). The statement said:
    The U.S. imperialists have massively shipped into south Korea nuclear weapons and other ultra-modern military hardware and operation supplies in breach of the Armistice Agreement, far from drawing a lesson from the defeat they suffered in the Korean war, and thus turned south Korea into the largest nuclear arsenal and biggest logistic base in the Far East. They are, at the same time, working hard to isolate and stifle the DPRK through political pressure and economic sanctions and watching for a chance to mount a military attack on it.
    The Korean People's Army and people rallied close around Kim Jong Il who has pursued the Songun policy are driving the U.S. imperialists and their allies to a tight corner.
    The reality requires all the countries and nations to grasp the validity and vitality of the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il who has protected the dignity and honor of the country and the nation by augmenting the national power with priority given to military affairs and learn from it.

RIMPAC-2006 Joint Military Exercises Denounced in UK

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, the British Friendship Society with Korea and the British Branch of the Association for Friendship with the Korean People issued a joint statement on July 3 in which they termed the large-scale RIMPAC-2006 joint military exercises deliberate saber rattling aimed to attack the DPRK and destroy Korean-style socialism and a dangerous challenge to the peace and security in the Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world. The statement demanded the United States stop the war exercises at once and the British government immediately withdraw its troops from the exercises so that it may not repeat the disgraceful history in which it participated in the Korean war at the U.S. instigation.
    South Korea's participation in the exercises is a perfidy to the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the statement said, demanding the south Korean authorities immediately withdraw its huge forces from the above-said war exercises for aggression.
    The statement called upon all the adherents to the Juche idea and the world progressive people to unite in the struggle to foil those war exercises being staged by the U.S. imperialists and their allies and protect socialist Korea.

People Called upon to Have Strong Faith in Sure Victory of Socialism and Optimism about It

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- To have strong faith in the sure victory of socialism and optimism about it serves as a source of inexhaustible strength to win victory despite all sorts of difficulties and trials, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article. The past 10-odd years of stand-off with the U.S. has been a period in which the Korean people's faith in the sure victory of socialism and optimism about it have been strikingly manifested, the article says, and goes on:
    The U.S. imperialists have become all the more undisguised in their anti-DPRK moves, creating great difficulties and stern trials before the Korean people. But they have demonstrated a new spirit of the times and raised high the torch of struggle and innovation, picturing to themselves the day they would emerge victorious. The servicepersons, in particular, have set an example in the revolutionary cultured practice in the Songun era and all the people have led an optimistic life, making redoubled efforts to spruce up their home towns, villages and working places. This is a clear proof of their firm faith in the justice of their cause and its victory.
    The Korean people's faith and optimism about a sure victory fully reflect their undisputed trust in Kim Jong Il and their will to follow him to the last. They are firmly convinced and optimistic that they are sure to win as long as they are led by Kim Jong Il. S. Korean Religious Organizations against FTA

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The Missionary Solidarity Council of Christian Society and 14 other religious organizations in south Korea reportedly called a news conference in front of the Jangchung Church in Seoul on July 13 and voiced their opposition to the signing of the south Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement. Terming the conclusion of the FTA downright treachery to the nation, they strongly demanded the "government" immediately halt FTA negotiations.

Ichon Hero Gingko Tree

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- There is some 720 years old hero gingko tree in Ichon Township of Ichon County, Kangwon Province of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It, planted in 1282, has been called "hero gingko tree" from the period of the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953).
    During the war, people there and military transport vehicles used to shelter themselves beneath the tree from the U.S. air raids.
    One day in August Juche 41 (1952), a U.S. fighter spotted a truck of the Korean People's Army hidden under the tree and attempted to attack it. But the fighter ran into the tree to be crashed. From then on, the people of Ichon have called the tree "hero gingko tree."
    By the collision, only one bough remained. Since then, the tree has shot out many branches to become exuberant.
    The tree is 20 meters high, 7.8 meters in the circumference of the lower part of the trunk and 14 meters in diameter of its umbrella.
    It opens flowers in the middle of April and bears some 100 kilograms of fruits every year.
    The state has registered the tree as a natural monument.

"Tragic Story" about Record Death Toll of U.S. Army

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The Korean war (June 1950 - July 1953) claimed record casualties of the U.S. invaders compared with the number of the mobilized armed forces. A Japanese book "Has U.S. been defeated?" says the casualty rate of the "UN Forces" runs into 40-60 percent which surpasses that of U.S. forces (7.5 percent) and German forces (55.8 percent) in the Second World War.
    There is one more story showing that the toll rate of the U.S. forces in the Korean war was much more than the above-said figure.
    MacArthur flew in the temporarily occupied Pyongyang on October 21, 1950, and visited F Company of Fifth Cavalry Regiment, which was the first to make an inroad into the city as the U.S. forces, for the purpose of citing soldiers of the company.
    Standing before 200 company soldiers, he ordered those who had survived since the company landed in Korea to take a step forward. There were only five GIs who made a step forward. Three of them had their heads, arms and legs bandaged.
    It meant 99 percent of the company was killed or wounded.
    The company was an epitome of the losses divisions including the First Cavalry Division under the U.S. Eighth Army Corps had sustained.
    MacArthur had been supplemented with 10,000 - 15,000 forces from the U.S. mainland every month from August 1950. Surprised at the tragic reality which was more miserable than what he had imagined, he gave up his original plan to upgrade those who "distinguished themselves" and went back.
    Terror about death prevailed in the U.S. army and evaders from military service ever grew in number. The U.S. Navy Prosecutor-general deplored that the number of deserters of the U.S. Navy reached 46,000 in the period from the start of the war to the end of 1952 and the deserters of the army amounted for 20,000 on a monthly average, sometimes 3,000 a day.
    In the Korean war, 405,498 U.S. aggressors were killed, wounded or taken prisoners.

Kim Il Sung Remembered in Different Countries

    Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- Seminars and film shows were held in South Africa, Mexico and Peru from July 6 to 9 on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of demise of President Kim Il Sung. The deputy secretary of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party referred to the fact that Kim Il Sung embarked upon the road of revolution in his early years and accomplished the historic cause of national liberation and that he led the Fatherland Liberation War to beat back the U.S. imperialists' armed invasion to victory, firmly defending the country's sovereignty.
    Noting that not only the Korean people but the world progressive people are highly praising Kim Il Sung as the greatest leader of the people, he stressed that the President's policy of love for the people has been successfully carried forward by Kim Jong Il.
    Juan Campos Vega, chairman of the Mexican Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea, said that the exploits performed by Kim Il Sung for the Korean people and the human cause of independence would always shine along with the century.
    Yuri Castro, secretary general of the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship, noted the world is convinced of the future of the DPRK winning one victory after another, looking up to Kim Jong Il identical to Kim Il Sung.

    Pyongyang, 18 de julio (ATCC) -- El rotativo Minju Joson publico en su edicion del dia 18 un comentario individual que senala como sigue: En junio ultimo, el senado norteamericano aprobo la "ley del encargo de defensa para el ano fiscal 2007" que exige a los departamentos de Estado y Defensa de Estados Unidos presentar al congreso el informe sobre las "fuerzas disuasorias al Norte de Corea" de la "comandancia de las fuerzas de la ONU", estacionada en el Sur de Corea.
    Segun previsto, a fin de reforzar la "capacidad disuasoria" de la ultima entidad, el informe enumerara la posibilidad de que EE.UU. solicite en tiempo de paz a los paises participantes en la pasada guerra coreana el envio de efectivos, los paises con posibilidades de aceptar esta solicitud y las influencias que tendra esto en los esfuerzos diplomaticos por disipar la "amenaza nuclear" de alguna parte.
    En fin, esta realidad demuestra fehacientemente que EE.UU. considera ya como un hecho consumado el desencadenamiento de la segunda guerra coreana y se prepara para el ataque armado contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea usando el manto de la ONU.
    Resulta obvio que el reforzamiento de las fuerzas multinacionales para la citada "comandancia de las fuerzas de la ONU", como desea el imperio, ejercera influencias muy negativas sobre la ya tirante situacion militar de la Peninsula Coreana.
    EE.UU. no esta interesado en la paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana sino suena con la supremacia militar en esta region.
    Entonces, adherirse a EE.UU. significa enredarse en la politica antipacifica y hegemonica de este pais, lo cual seria un acto suicida igual a lanzarse al fuego con gasolina.
    Los paises interesados deben analizar con serenidad la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana y no incurrir en cosas que no contribuyan a la paz y la estabilidad del orbe.
