Message of Sympathy to Kim Jong Il from Hu Jintao

    Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a message of sympathy on July 22 from Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China. The message says:
    Upon hearing the news that some areas of your country were hard hit by the flood which claimed big human and material losses, I, on behalf of the party and government of China, express sincere sympathy to you and, through you, to the people in the afflicted areas.
    I am sure that the people in the afflicted areas will certainly recover from the losses caused by the disaster and lead a normal life as early as possible under the leadership of you and the Workers' Party and government of the DPRK.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Rejecting U.S. Double Standards

    Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a by-lined article calls for not allowing the imperialists to apply the double standards but rejecting them to establish a new fair international order and develop the international relations on a sound basis. It says:
    It is a criminal act of violating the principle of impartiality in the international ties to apply the double standards.
    The U.S. is chiefly to blame for pursuing a blatant double-dealing policy.
    It has applied diverse standards when dealing with international issues and internal affairs of other countries. Its standards vary according to its interests and the stance of the relevant countries towards it and their political systems.
    This is well illustrated by the double standards applied by the U.S. in handling human rights issues.
    It is well known that the U.S. styling itself a "human rights judge" issues a "human rights report" every year to pull up other countries over their human rights performance and meddle in their internal affairs.
    The double standards applied by the U.S. over human rights issues find a vivid manifestation in the fact that it is directing the spearhead of its "human rights offensive" to those countries standing in the way of establishing an order for its world domination such as anti-imperialist and independent ones and those countries of military strategic and economic importance. The U.S. is, however, keeping mum about the poor human rights records in its allies and those countries that toe its line.
    It is also applying the double standards as regards the nuclear issue. The Bush ruling quarters are going busy with the moves to modernize and bolster its nuclear arsenal, while paying lip- service to the "reduction of nukes." The U.S. seeks to use nukes like conventional weapons any time after designating the DPRK and other countries as targets of its preemptive nuclear attacks. It is clearly evidenced by its stepped-up moves to make nukes smaller and less heavy. In the meantime, it is zealously patronizing and backing Japan, Israel and other allies in their moves to go nuclear.
    The U.S. is applying the double standards as regards the "anti-terrorism war". This can be explained well by the fact that the U.S. is defending terrorist outfits and terrorists in some countries after classifying terrorists into "good ones" and "bad ones."
    The above-said standards applied by the U.S. over international issues are nothing but an illegal political lever for turning the world into the one dominated by it.

DPRK-Russia Protocol Signed

    Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- A protocol on the talks between the DPRK Minister of Railways and the chairman of the "Russian Railways" Company was signed at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Sunday. Present at the signing ceremony from the DPRK side were Vice-Minister of Railways Kim Chol and others and from the Russian side members of the delegation of the company and Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Karlov.
    The protocol was inked by Kim Yong Sam, minister of Railways, and V.I. Yakunin, chairman of the company.

U.S. Headquarters of Pomminryon Calls for Independent Reunification

    Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) in a statement on July 18 called for achieving peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula in the spirit of national independence, aware of the lesson taught by history that a country goes to ruin when it takes to flunkeyism. The spirit of national independence truly serves as a weapon more powerful than a nuclear bomb, the statement said, and went on:
    All Koreans, be they in the north and the south and abroad, should successfully overcome the present difficulties in the idea of "By our nation itself", the spirit of national independence.
    To this end, the fellow countrymen should resolutely reject the outsiders' moves for a war and wage a more dynamic movement for national independence, peace against war and great national unity, rallied close under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
    The statement called upon the compatriots at home and abroad to solidarize with each other to build world public opinion in favor of the peace and reunification of the peninsula and decisively shatter the separatist moves of the pro-U.S. conservative forces toeing the U.S. line.

DPRK Players Prove Successful at Rowing Championships

    Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- DPRK players gave a good account of themselves at the 11th Merlion Rowing Championships held in Singapore from July 16 to 18. Kim Kyong Un and Pae Sang Hyok took off gold medals at the men's light-weight double sculls, Pak Ok Ju and Kim Ok Bong at the women's light-weight double sculls and Ro Kum Suk at the women's heavy-weight single sculls.
    Kang Jin Chol won a silver medal at the men's heavy-weight single sculls.

International Solidarity Voiced for Korean People

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Meetings for solidarity with the Korean people were held in Egypt, Austria and France on the occasion of the month of anti-U.S. joint struggle (June 25-July 27). The secretary general of the Egypt-Korea Friendship Association in a speech said that the Korean People's Army and people of the DPRK could achieve a great victory by defeating the U.S. which boasted itself of being the "strongest" in the world and its allies entirely thanks to the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung, a great strategist.
    The vice-chairman of the Wiener Neustadt City Committee of the Communist Party of Austria noted that the DPRK is standing firm against the U.S. styling itself the "world's only supper power." He vowed to boost the solidarity with the Korean people, expressing belief that the Korean people would surely build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    Speakers at a meeting held in France voiced full support and solidarity with the just cause of the Korean people, noting that the Songun politics is now displaying tremendous vitality.

Korean People's Struggle Supported

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) --The Nepal Communist Party (United Marxist-Leninist), the Nepal Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist), the Nepal Communist Party (United Marxist), the Nepal Worker-Peasant Party, the Nepalese National Committee to Remember the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Committee of Nepal, the Nepal Institute for Juche Studies and other political parties and organizations of Nepal issued a joint statement on July 17 on the occasion of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people. The statement said that on the occasion of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people the political parties and friendship and public organizations in Nepal look back with deep emotion on how proudly the heroic Korean people demonstrated to the whole world the strong unity in their fight to defend the independent and sovereign state during the last Fatherland Liberation War.
    At present there are more than 40,000 U.S. troops and at least 1,000 nuclear weapons in south Korea and joint military exercises of the U.S., Japan and south Korea targeted against the DPRK are going on without let-up, the statement noted, and went on:
    The Korean Armistice Agreement should be replaced by a peace agreement, the Korean issue settled in accordance with the resolution of the 30th session of the UN General Assembly and Korea reunified by the Korean people themselves free from foreign interference in the spirit of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
    The statement expressed hope that durable peace would be achieved in Korea and its independent and peaceful reunification come true as early as possible.

Reception Given by Indian Ambassador

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- N.T. Khankhup, Indian ambassador to the DPRK, hosted a reception at the embassy Friday on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the cultural agreement between the governments of the DPRK and the Republic of India. Present there on invitation were Ryom Sun Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea who is chairman of the Korea-India Friendship Association, Jo Chan Gu, vice-minister of Culture, Jon Hyon Chan, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and officials concerned.
    Staff members of the Indian embassy were on hand.
    Speeches were made there.

DPRK Praised by Indian Public Figure

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Brief as our stay in the DPRK was, we were deeply moved to witness the greater successes made by the Korean people in the revolution and construction under the uplifted banner of the Juche idea. S. P. Pathak, director of the Board of the Asian Regional Institute of the Juche Idea and chairman of the Indian Society for the Study of Works of Kim Jong Il, said this when interviewed by KCNA. He visited the DPRK as a member of the delegation of Indian scholars for the study of the Juche idea. The Juche idea is now being studied and disseminated among the world progressive people for its validity and vitality, he noted, and continued:
    The reality of the DPRK which we saw for ourselves convinced us that there is nothing impossible for any country and it can make even greater triumphant progress once it push ahead with the revolution and construction in reliance on the inexhaustible strength of the popular masses.
    President Kim Il Sung founded the immortal Juche idea and built the DPRK into a powerful socialist state.
    The Korean people have defended the sovereignty and dignity of the nation and achieved fresh successes in their efforts for socialist construction, pulling through difficulties and trials under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    I am of the view that they could valiantly overcome all sorts of ordeals and difficulties and achieve such shining successes as they have deeply grasped the truth of the Juche idea that man is the master of his own destiny and has the capacity to carve out it.
    The U.S.-led imperialist allied forces are making desperate efforts to stifle the DPRK, but they are powerless in face of the Korean people united in one mind.
    Everything was reduced to ruins in the war forced by the U.S. imperialists upon the Korean people, but they have built the DPRK into a powerful state guided by the Juche idea by going single-mindedly united with ardent love of their country and future.
    The DPRK is, indeed, a great country dynamically advancing under the uplifted banner of the Juche idea.

All Koreans Called upon to Foil U.S. Persistent Moves against National Reunification

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- The Koreans have not yet achieved national reunification though over 60 years have passed since the split of the nation. This is entirely due to the U.S. imperialists' vicious and persistent anti-reunification moves. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    It is the strategic plan of the U.S. to seize the whole of Korea with south Korea as a springboard for aggression and establish its domination over the rest of Asia. The U.S. imperialists have, therefore, been keen on the vicious and persistent moves against the reunification of Korea, defying the unanimous will and desire of all Koreans for reunification.
    The U.S. imperialists have worked hard to hamstring the efforts to develop the inter-Korean relations.
    Since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the north and the south have made not small efforts to replace the inter-Korean relations by those of reconciliation and confidence. This helped the idea of "By our nation itself" prevail among the Koreans and gave further momentum to their movement for independent reunification.
    The U.S., much upset by this development, has worked to bring back the era of confrontation to the Korean Peninsula.
    It was not pleased with the historic Pyongyang summit. It has, therefore, left no means untried to check the implementation of the joint declaration, going overboard about the mere utterance of the words about independent reunification.
    Whenever the inter-Korean relations made favorable progress, the U.S. instigated the pro-U.S. bellicose forces of south Korea to launch joint military exercises, thus throwing a wet blanket over the process to warm up the ties.
    Under the U.S. patronage the ultra-right conservatives of the "Grand National Party" of south Korea are zealously conspiring with the U.S. imperialists in their anti-reunification moves, recklessly going against the June 15 era of reunification. The anti-reunification rackets kicked up by those remnants of the forces dating back to the era of confrontation after being ostracized by the forces in the June 15 era of reunification clearly indicate how persistent and vicious the U.S. has become in its bid to push the inter-Korean relations back to confrontation and war, counting on the pro-U.S. conservative forces.

People Called upon to Remain True to Revolutionary Faith

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Revolutionary faith serves as a powerful weapon and a master key to victory as it helps shatter the outrageous threat and blackmail and aggression of the imperialists and push forward the revolution and construction in line with the desire of the popular masses for independence and their requirements. Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
    The U.S. imperialists are escalating the wars of aggression and threat and blackmail against the anti-imperialist and independent countries under the pretext of "anti-terrorism" and persistently barring their people from achieving social progress and prosperity.
    Not a few countries are stepping back, scared by the imperialists' blatant pressure and blackmail and yielding and vacillating before them. This behavior on the part of these countries only emboldens the imperialists. The reality requires the people aspiring after independence to reinforce their revolutionary faith.
    The Korean people have neither wavered nor yielded to any adversity in the entire period of the revolution and construction but courageously advanced despite any difficulties and ordeals, firmly convinced of their sure victory.
    They are confident that socialism is sure to triumph if it is defended and they are bound to meet death if it is abandoned. These words fully reflect the firm faith and revolutionary will of the Korean people who are convinced of the justice and victory of their cause. As they are stronger in their revolutionary faith than any others, they are steadily advancing along the road of socialism without any slightest shrinkage and vacillation despite so desperate efforts of the enemies to bring them to their knees.
    As shown by the reality of the DPRK, neither threat and blackmail nor nuclear weapons of the imperialists can prove effective in face of its revolutionary confidence.
    The people of the DPRK will decisively frustrate the vicious moves of the imperialists against it and socialism and carry on their dynamic struggle for the advance of the human cause of independence, invariably enshrining the firm faith in socialism, concludes the article.

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Mohamed Hosni Mubarak , president of Egypt, on Friday on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the July 23 revolution, the national holiday of the Egyptian people.     Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, sent a message of greetings to Ahmed Najef, prime minister of Egypt, on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the July 23 revolution of the Egyptian people. Kim Il Sung Remembered in Different Countries

    Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- Meetings, photo exhibitions and film shows were held in Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh from July 6 to 8 on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of demise of President Kim Il Sung. Exhibited in the venues of the functions were photos showing his glorious revolutionary history.
    Participants of the film show watched Korean film "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Is Immortal."
    Zabed Ansari, secretary general of the Karachi Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, at a remembrance meeting said: President Kim Il Sung enforced the politics of believing in the people as in Heaven with noble comradeship and warm humanity. He always mixed with people in the whole period of leading the Korean revolution. That is why the Korean people venerate him as a kind-hearted father and a great teacher.
    Akrak Aktar Hamidi, chairman of the Pakistan Association for Self-Reliance Studies, noted that Kim Il Sung devoted himself to the cause of reunification, adding that his great exploits would be remembered forever.
    Minister of Land Reform and Management Prab Narayan Choudari and Vice-President of the Senate of Nepal Lam Prid Paswan said that the Nepalese people speak highly of Kim Il Sung who defeated the U.S. and Japanese imperialists, honorably defending the security of the country and the dignity of the nation, and devoted his all to the happiness of the people.     Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Round-table talks and seminars were held in Tunisia and Bulgaria on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of demise of President Kim Il Sung. Political bureau members of the People's Unity Party of Tunisia at round-table talks lauded Kim Il Sung as a world famous great man and a staunch fighter in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle, adding that the DPRK is now standing on the forefront of the anti-imperialist struggle.     Pyongyang, 22 de julio (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 21 en el capitalino Palacio Cultural del Pueblo el acto por el 60o aniversario de la fundacion del Frente Democratico para la Reunificacion de la Patria (FDRP).     @ Al presentar el informe, Kim Ki Nam senalo que al analizar a fondo la situacion interna y externa y la demanda real para la formacion de un frente unido nacional, el Presidente Kim Il Sung propuso constituir una organizacion permanente del frente unido de los partidos politicos y entidades sociales y la organizo el 22 de julio del 35 (1946) de la Era Juche en Pyongyang durante la conferencia de los representantes de los partidos politicos y organizaciones sociales democraticos del Norte de Corea, y prosiguio:
    De esta manera, nacio el Frente Unido Nacional Democratico como primera entidad de su tipo despues de liberacion de Corea y en junio de 1949 cambio su nombre por el FDRP en la conferencia constitutiva que tuvo lugar con la participacion de mas de 70 partidos politicos y entidades sociales progresistas del Norte, el Sur y en ultramar como una medida del Presidente para superar las dificultades creadas en el pais y buscar la salida de la nacion con las fuerzas unidas de toda la nacion.
    La fundacion de esta organizacion fue un brillante fruto de la idea de gran unidad nacional y la linea sobre el frente unido, que el Presidente creo en el periodo de la lucha revolucionaria antijaponesa y mantuvo invariablemente, y significo un evento historico de gran importancia en la lucha del pueblo coreano por la construccion de una nueva sociedad y la reintegracion territorial de la patria.
    En particular, el "Programa de 10 puntos de gran unidad pannacional para la reunificacion de la patria", obra publicada por el Presidente en el ultimo periodo de su vida, es el gran programa politico que debe ser mantenido siempre en la lucha por lograr la reunificacion de la patria con la unidad pannacional y constituye su proeza mas brillante ante la causa de fundacion del frente unido.
    Hoy dia, la idea de gran unidad nacional e inmortales hazanas del Presidente en su direccion sobre el frente unido se llevan adelante en una nueva etapa mas alta gracias a la orientacion destacada y probada del Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
    En junio de 2000 cuando llegaba al climax en el nuevo siglo el anhelo de la nacion de reunificar la patria, el Dirigente preparo la historica Cumbre Norte-Sur y publico la Declaracion Conjunta N-S del 15 de Junio, cuyo ideal principal es "entre nosotros, los connacionales". Asi hizo una gran contribucion al cumplimiento de la causa historica de la gran unidad nacional y la reunificacion de la patria.
    Para lograr la gran unidad nacional y formar el frente unido pannacional, es preciso mantener con firmeza y materializar a cabalidad el programa de 10 puntos para la gran unidad pannacional y la orientacion de 5 puntos para la gran unidad nacional, que dio origen a la nueva era del desarrollo de las relaciones intercoreanas.

Conviccion revolucionaria es arma ideologica, destaca Rodong Sinmun

    Pyongyang, 22 de julio (ATCC) -- El diario Rodong Sinmun publico en su edicion del dia 22 un articulo individual destacando que la conviccion revolucionaria es una potente arma y clave de la victoria que permite frustrar la amenaza, el chantaje y las maniobras de agresion de los imperialistas y llevar adelante la revolucion y la construccion de acuerdo con la aspiracion independiente y la demanda de las masas populares. Bajo el rotulo del "antiterrorismo", los imperialistas norteamericanos extienden escalonadamente la guerra de agresion y la intimidacion contra los paises antiimperialistas e independientes y obstruyen perversamente la lucha de los pueblos por el progreso social y la prosperidad, denuncia el articulista y prosigue:
    Atemorizados por la brutal presion de los imperialistas, no pocos paises se pliegan o retroceden vacilandose, de lo cual aquellos se ponen mas arrogantes.

Dialogan en Pyongyang funcionarios de ferrocarril de Corea y Rusia

    Pyongyang, 22 de julio (ATCC) -- El ministro de Ferrocarril de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, Kim Yong Sam, y el presidente de "Ferrocarril de Rusia" S.A., V. I. Yakunin, sostuvieron conversaciones este viernes en el capitalino Palacio de los Congresos Mansudae. A esta ocasion asistieron por la parte coreana los funcionarios interesados y, por la rusa, los integrantes de la delegacion de la citada compania y el embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario ruso acreditado en Corea, Andrei Karlov.
    Ambas partes intercambiaron opiniones sobre el desarrollo de la cooperacion bilateral en el sector ferroviario.
    Las conversaciones transcurrieron en un clima amistoso.

    Pyongyang, 22 de julio (ATCC) -- En ocasion del mes de solidaridad internacional con el pueblo coreano, los partidos politicos y las entidades de Nepal, inclusive el Partido Comunista Unido (Marxista-Leninista), el Partido Comunista (Marxista|Leninista), el Partido Comunista Unido (Marxista), el Partido Obrero y Campesino, el Comite Nacional de Nepal en memoria del Gran Lider, camarada Kim Il Sung, el Comite de Solidaridad con los Pueblos Afro-Asiaticos y el Instituto del Juche, publicaron el dia 17 una declaracion conjunta. Con motivo de esa efemeride, los partidos politicos y las entidades de amistad y sociales de Nepal recuerdan con mucha emocion de que luchando unido en la pasada Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria, el heroico pueblo coreano mostro orgullosamente a todo el mundo el ejemplo de como defender un Estado independiente y soberano, puntualiza el documento.
    Prosigue que actualmente en el territorio surcoreano hay mas de 40 mil efectivos norteamericanos y mas de un millar de armas nucleares y se despliegan incesantemente las maniobras militares conjuntas entre EE.UU., Japon y el Sur de Corea contra la RPDC.
    Hay que convertir el Acuerdo de Armisticio de Corea en el de la paz, resolver el problema coreano segun la resolucion aprobada en el 30o periodo de sesiones de la Asamblea General de la ONU y lograr la reunificacion de Corea sin la intromision de las fuerzas foraneas, con las fuerzas propias del pueblo coreano y de acuerdo con el espiritu de la historica Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur del 15 de Junio, insiste.
    Concluye deseando que se logren cuanto antes en Corea la paz duradera y la reunificacion independiente y pacifica.
