Chinese Crewmen Celebrate War Victory Day in DPRK
Chongjin, July 24 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held by the crew of a Chinese-flagged ship at Chongjin port on July 23 on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
Present there were the master and crewmen of the Chinese-flagged ship Gaohua.
Speakers at the meeting said the Korean people won a shining victory by defeating the U.S. imperialists who boasted of their being the "strongest" in the world through the display of unexampled self-sacrificing spirit and mass heroism under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, a gifted strategist and invincible iron-willed commander.
During the war the Korean people demonstrated to the world how mighty was the strength of justice and greatly inspired the national liberation struggle in colonies, they said, noting that under the outstanding Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il the Korean people are now opening a wide venue for the reunification of Korea and the building of a great prosperous powerful nation while shattering the moves of the U.S. imperialists for a new war at every step.
Peace Agreement Called for
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Jose Armando Rodriguez, chairman of the Socialist Party of Mexico, issued a statement titled "The Korean Armistice Agreement should be replaced by a peace agreement" on July 18 in the June 25-July 27 month of the anti-U.S. joint struggle.
The Korean Peninsula is now becoming the area of most acute confrontation, he said in the statement, citing materials to disclose the fact that the United States has systematically scrapped the Armistice Agreement.
The agreement has already lost its mission and role as an institutional mechanism to prevent the escalation of tension and the danger of a war on the Korean Peninsula, he noted, adding:
To replace the AA with a peace agreement is the most primary and essential issue with a view to preventing arms buildup and arms race on the Korean Peninsula, settling the acute matters including the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. and improving the overall DPRK-U.S. relations and inter-Korean relations.
If the U.S. really wants peace and security in the Korean Peninsula, the Asia-Pacific and in the rest of the world, it should immediately come out to replace the AA with a peace agreement.
Expressing full support to the DPRK's self-defensive step to cope with the U.S. threat, the chairman stressed that the U.S. should stop its hostile police toward the DPRK.
U.S.-S. Korea Joint Military Exercises Blasted
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity of south Korea reportedly issued a statement on July 21 in denunciation of the U.S. and the south Korean warmongers' military exercises for a war of aggression.
The south Korea-U.S. "Combined Forces Command" announced that it would stage the "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises from August 21 to September 1 as scheduled, said statement.
Terming this a bellicose move to drive the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war and a violation of peace on this land, the statement expressed strong opposition to the "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises presupposing a war in the Korean Peninsula.
The south side's participation in the joint military exercises targeted at the north means following the U.S. war policy against the north, which will result in blocking the development of inter-Korean relations, the statement said, stressing:
The south Korean government should strongly urge the U.S. to withdraw the plan for the military exercises and should clarify its will not to participate in the exercises.
S. Korean Authorities Urged to Take Road of National Cooperation
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils reportedly issued a statement on July 21, urging the south Korean authorities to take the road of national cooperation.
The statement referred to the fact that the authorities are now sympathizing with the U.S. hostile policy towards the north.
If they follow the U.S. and anti-reunification forces they will get nothing but disgraceful stigma of traitors and war holocaust, the statement said, stressing that they should take the road of national cooperation.
They should bear in mind that if they turn their back on the interests and demand of the nation they will be forsaken by the nation, it emphasized.

Meeting of Agricultural Workers
Janggang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Agricultural workers held a meeting at the Hyangha revolutionary site in Janggang County, Jagang Province, on Monday to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
Kang Chang Uk, chairman of the C.C., the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, said in a congratulatory address that under the outstanding leadership of President Kim Il Sung, an invincible and iron-willed commander, the Korean army and people gave full play to mass heroism and matchless devotion so as to bring the most shameful defeat to the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world and achieve a great victory which will shine in the century.
Aware that the drive for increased food production is a struggle for the country and a struggle for victory on the front, farmers ploughed and sowed fields and produced more rice and sent it to the front in the teeth of heavy bombings by the U.S. imperialist aggressors, thus contributing to the victory in the war, he said, and stressed:
All the agricultural workers should do farming well as required by the farming method of Juche, following ardent patriotism of farmers displayed during the wartime, under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il who represents our destiny and future.
Speeches were made there.

Aphorism for National Reunification
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- "The reunification of the country is precisely patriotism and the struggle for it is the highest form of patriotic struggle". This aphorism of Kim Jong Il powerfully arouses the entire Korean nation to the genuine patriotic struggle for national reunification.
Also it clarifies the truth of life and struggle for the Koreans who have been undergoing sufferings caused by the national division.
The Korean nation, with King Tangun as its ancestral father, is a homogeneous nation of one and the same blood who has created a 5,000-year-long history while living in the same territory.
It, however, has been subjected to misfortunes, divided into the north and the south by outside forces for over 60 years.
The U.S. imperialists and its satellite forces do not want to see the reunification of Korea to achieve their aggressive and separatist design. They are making desperate efforts to rupture the reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south by hook or by crook and lead the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war for the purpose of imposing the scourge of a nuclear war on the Koreans.
In order to achieve the reunification at the earliest date under the present grave situation, those, with the blood and soul of the Korean nation, should value the great national unity dearer than anything else and turn out as one in the struggle against the separatists.
Each member of the nation should bear in mind that the reunification of the country is patriotism and the struggle for it is the highest form of the patriotic struggle and devote his all to the reunification. Only then, he will be known among the fellow countrymen and become a patriot famous in the history of the nation.
The validity and vitality of the aphorism have been proved by the known and unknown heroes who laid down their valuable lives for the country's reunification and are being displayed by the Koreans in the north, south and overseas who are daringly joining the grand march for national independence and reunification.

Brutality of U.S. Troops Assailed
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun in an article Tuesday throws a revealing light on the brutalities perpetrated by U.S. troops in all parts of the world.
Recalling that a soldier of the U.S. army in Iraq recently murdered a little girl after raping her in the southern area of Baghdad, the author of the article says:
The attitude of the U.S., which is reluctant to make an apology and even to utter a word of regret, brings into sharp focus the brutal nature of the U.S. imperialists whose business is murder and pillage.
After enumerating a string of examples including the gang rape of a teenage Japanese girl student by U.S. soldiers in Okinawa in 1995, the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl by three U.S. seamen in a hotel room in Australia in May 1997 and human rights abuses and murder in Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq, the article goes on:
The human rights abuses by U.S. soldiers all over the world are results of the violation of national sovereignty under the policy of aggression of the present U.S. administration. Its neo-conservative forces inculcate into the minds of the U.S. soldiers the idea of extreme misanthropy and destruction of other nations, the idea that they should be merciless and no mercy should be shown to anyone, if the United States is to lord it over and rule the world. The U.S. ruling quarters put pressure to block the passage of the "bill on banning tortures" through Congress and backed the maltreatment and brutal tortures of prisoners by U.S. soldiers, arguing that tortures are "necessary" to open the mouths of "terror suspects." This vividly shows the hypocrisy and fiction of the "defense of human rights", loudly advertised by the U.S.
The world people cannot get rid of misfortunes, sufferings and disasters caused by the U.S. imperialists as long as the latter continue armed intervention in and aggression upon sovereign states after setting up military bases of aggression and deploying armed forces in all parts of the world. The club of "anti-terrorism" brandished by the Bush warlike forces is the root cause of the violation of the independence of sovereign states, abuse of human rights and destruction of world peace and security in the present century.
The people cannot live a tranquil life and the world cannot be peaceful unless the U.S. imperialists' policy of aggression is checked and frustrated. The world should wage a relentless fight against the U.S. imperialists, a gang of murderers and war maniacs.

Japanese Reactionaries' Anti-Chongryon Campaign under Fire
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Post and Telecommunications of Japan is nowadays pressurizing 140 autonomous bodies across the country to reexamine the tax reduction and exemption for the facilities associated with the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) after making an investigation into the facilities in the areas under their jurisdiction.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed commentary terms it a very serious racket kicked up against Chongryon and a revelation of the most hostile policy of Japan toward the DPRK.
Japan is working hard to strangle Chongryon financially in a bid to destroy it, the commentary notes, and goes on:
Chongryon is a legitimate organization of overseas citizens of the DPRK. Japan's attitude toward Chongryon precisely means its view and stand on the DPRK.
The Japanese reactionary forces are keen to use the anti-Chongryon racket and Japan's hostile policy toward the DPRK as leverage for extremely straining the DPRK-Japan relations and realizing their wild ambition to stage a comeback to Korea. Precisely for this reason, Japan is so zealously toeing the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.
Japan is oblivious of any legal and moral obligation.
The anti-Chongryon campaign of Japan is an unjustifiable violation of human rights and the principle of humanitarianism even in view of international laws including the UN conventions calling for the protection of minorities, the guarantee of all rights to them and the elimination of discriminations against them.
The above-said reckless moves of Japan may entail serious consequences.
The Japanese reactionaries would be well advised to immediately stop their reckless acts of driving the DPRK-Japan relations to an extreme pitch of tension.
