National Meeting Marks Day of Victory in War

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the April 25 House of Culture Wednesday to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Jo Myong Rok, Pak Pong Ju, Kim Yong Chun and other party, army and state senior officials, Cabinet members, officials of the party, armed forces and power organs, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, working people in the city and overseas Koreans staying in the socialist homeland.
    KPA Vice Marshal Kim Il Chol, who is member of the DPRK National Defence Commission and minister of the People's Armed Forces, made a report.
    July 27, Juche 42 (1953) is recorded as the day of the second liberation in the glorious history of the DPRK because it was the day when the army and people of the DPRK beat back the armed invasion of the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world and achieved historic victory in the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War under the outstanding political and military leadership of President Kim Il Sung, the reporter said, and continued:
    The undying feats Kim Il Sung performed by winning the victory in the war are shining more brilliantly in the history of the anti-U.S. and anti-imperialist struggle with a new chapter of victory added to it and the ever-victorious history and tradition of the heroic DPRK have been given steady continuity under the outstanding Songun leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il.
    The army and people of the DPRK will beat back any aggressor at one stroke and Korean-style socialism will emerge ever-victorious as the above-said immortal feats remain shining as an eternal treasured sword in the anti-U.S. and anti-imperialist struggle and as there is the ever-victorious Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    The reporter went on to say:
    The U.S. has staged in south Korea ceaseless war exercises including RIMPAC joint military exercises by mobilizing even its allies. Recently it took issue with the DPRK's missile launches and got the UN Security Council to adopt a "resolution" against it.
    It was a sheer brigandish act for the U.S. to have used the UN arena for branding the DPRK's missile launches as "a threat to the global peace and security" and got it to adopt a "resolution" calling for international pressure aimed to force the DPRK to disarm itself and stifle it.
    The army and people of the DPRK find it hard to repress their towering hatred and resentment at the U.S. and the Japanese reactionaries who are working hard to form an international alliance against the DPRK in a bid to provoke another Korean war of aggression after painting the issue between the DPRK and the U.S. as one between the DPRK and the UN. And they vehemently denounce the U.S. sponsored "resolution" of the UNSC.
    They will bolster war deterrent for self-defence in every way by employing all possible means and methods, not bound to anything, to cope with the serious situation created on the Korean Peninsula due to the U.S. extremely hostile act and the irresponsibility of the UN Security Council.
    They will never abandon their principle in preserving the ideology and system chosen by themselves but deal deadly blows at the enemies' moves for aggression with all-out do-or-die resistance and unprecedented devastating strikes.
    Should the U.S. and its allies including Japan ignite a war of aggression at any cost despite our repeated warnings the army and people of the DPRK will mercilessly wipe out the aggressors and remove the very root cause of the misfortune imposed upon the Koreans century after century by fully displaying the invincible might of Songun Korea that they have built under the guidance of the brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu.
    The reporter called on all the Party members and other working people and servicepersons to resolutely uphold and thoroughly implement the Songun idea under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il and thus carry forward and glorify generation after generation the undying feats performed by Kim Il Sung by winning the war and the traditions established by him under the banner of Songun and emerge honorable victors in the stand-off with the U.S. in the new century.
    He underlined the need for the entire Party and the army and all the people to increase the nation's capacity for self-defence and give priority to the development of national defence industry as required by the WPK's line of economic construction in the Songun era and thus further bolster the nation's war deterrent for self-defence true to the WPK's Songun politics.

U.S. Extremely Hostile Act and UN "Resolution" against DPRK Rejected

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- It was a sheer brigandish act for the U.S. to have used the UN arena for branding the DPRK's missile launches as "a threat to the global peace and security" and got it to adopt a "resolution" calling for international pressure aimed to force the DPRK to disarm itself and stifle it, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, declared this in a report made at a national meeting to mark the 53rd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. He went on:

Solidarity with Korean People Expressed

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Meetings for solidarity with the Korean people, film shows and photo exhibitions took place in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Laos and the Czech Republic from July 15 to 19 on the occasion of the June 25-July 27 month of anti-U.S. joint struggle. C. R. Aslam, chairman of the Pakistan Socialist Party, said at a meeting that Kim Jong Il has waged energetic struggle to realize the plan of President Kim Il Sung for national reunification.
    Kim Jong Il is dynamically leading all the Korean people to the struggle to realize the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, he said, stressing that Korean socialism is stable and Korea will certainly be reunified as guided by Kim Jong Il.
    The chairman of the Barisal Branch of the Bangladesh Committee for Solidarity with the Korean People, said that the Korean people won a great victory in the three-year war against the U.S. imperialists' aggression thanks to the outstanding military idea and gifted stratagem of Kim Il Sung.
    The U.S. imperialists are seeking to ignite a new war of aggression on the Korean Peninsula while kicking up the anti-DPRK rackets, he said, stressing that the Bangladesh people strongly demand the U.S. stop at once its reckless moves for war provocation and will invariably support and encourage the Korean people in their struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

Malaysian King Hopes for Closer Relations with DPRK

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Malaysia hopes that the relations between Malaysia and the DPRK would become closer through visits and contacts in the future, too. Malaysian King Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al|Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail said this when meeting the DPRK ambassador to his country who paid a farewell call on him on July 20. The relations between the two countries have developed on good terms, he noted, adding that the visits and contacts of delegations in recent years have contributed to boosting the bilateral relations.

Israel Urged to Stop Barbaric Man-Killing in Lebanon

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA Tuesday in connection with Israel's military aggression against Lebanon that drove the Mideast situation to the brink of war: As already reported, Israel is escalating its military actions while carrying out air-raids on different parts of Lebanon almost every day and hurling even its ground force into southern Lebanon.
    Israel's military aggression on Lebanon rendered hundreds of people dead or wounded and more than 500,000 people displaced in just a few days. The daily aggravating situation in this region is arousing serious apprehension among the international community.
    Israel's military aggression against Lebanon is a dangerous act of harassing regional peace and pushing the Mideast into the crucible of "another war."
    Israel should immediately respond to the voices of the Arab countries demanding it halt at once barbaric genocide, pull back from the occupied Arab territories and release the Arab prisoners.
    What merits attention in the Lebanese situation is the U.S. improper attitude.
    The U.S. is defending Israel's man-killings in Lebanon and Palestine, describing them as a "measure for self-defence."
    This clearly shows how hypocritical, dangerous and reckless the Bush administration is as it claims to be an "apostle of peace" and "defender of human rights."
    The U.S. and Israel had better immediately stop their reckless military actions that will bring the holocaust of a new war, as demanded by the Arab countries and the international community.

Performance of Wartime Songs Given by Women's Union Members

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A performance of wartime songs "Songs of Eternal Songun Victory" was given by members of the Korean Democratic Women's Union (KDWU) at the Women's Hall in Pyongyang on Tuesday to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. In poem and chorus "Song Devoted to Marshal Kim Il Sung" performers highly praised his undying exploits in building the Juche-oriented revolutionary armed forces to defend the destiny of the country and the nation and implement the global cause of independence against imperialism.
    Chorus "Song of Defending Homeland," chorus singing to the accompaniment of drums "Song of Coast Artillerymen", violin solo and chorus "My House in My Native Place" and other numbers impressively represented the noble mental world of fighters of the People's Army and people who devoted themselves to defending the country with conviction of victory and optimism.
    A solo "Song of Mother" and a series of songs "At a Spring" and "No One Knows" depicted well the undaunted, brave and sentimental features of Korean women who greatly contributed to achieving victory in the war.
    Chorus singing to the accompaniment of Janggus "Let's Boast of the Greatest-ever Commander," solo "The More We Think of the Path of Songun" and chorus singing to the accompaniment of Oungums "Blue Sky over My Country" made audience deeply feel once again that the Korean people would glorify July 27, the day of victory, forever as they are led by Kim Jong Il, great Songun brilliant commander.
    The performance closed with poem and chorus "For the Motherland".
    The performance was appreciated by Pak Sun Hui, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the KDWU, and women's union officials and members.

National Exhibition of Art Works Held

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A national exhibition of art works was held at the Pyongyang International Cultural Centre. On display there were more than 300 art pieces such as Korean paintings, oil paintings, graphic paintings and calligraphies done by creators and teachers of the Mansudae Art Studio, the Central Art Studio and Pyongyang University of Fine Arts and others in the capital city and provincial capitals.
    They contributed to the exhibition those pieces drawn at factories, on farms and in scenic and other places.
    Korean paintings "Another Charge", "On the Field" and "At the Site of Rice Transplantation", graphic painting "At the Construction Site of the Samsu Power Station" and other works drew particular attention of visitors as they truthfully represented the ideological and moral traits of Party members and other working people and their heroic labor drive.
    On display there were also art works depicting the beautiful landscape of the country including Korean painting "Sangwon Temple in Valley", oil painting "Landscape of Moran Hill" and woodcut "Lake in the Evening."
    Kang Nung Su, minister of Culture, officials concerned and artists in the city looked round the exhibition on July 25.

Wartime Songs Presented

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Youth and students in Pyongyang staged wartime songs at the open-air theatre in Youth Park Tuesday on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. Their performance began with poem and song "Our Victory-Day July 27". Then they staged wartime songs including "Song of Defending Homeland", "My Song in Trench", "My House in My Native Place" and "To the Road of Decisive Battle."
    The performers sang of the shining feats performed by people in the rear who sincerely aided those on the front and ensured wartime production in such numbers as poem and female solo "Song of Mother" and female solo "No One Knows".
    The performance closed with poem and chorus "For the Motherland".
    The presentation of such poems and songs helped the youngsters harden their resolution to fully display the revolutionary stamina of the young vanguard in the stand-off with the U.S. and in the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist country under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, Songun brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu, just as the heroes in the 1950s did.

Reception Given at Cuban Embassy

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Enrique Montoto Cruz, Cuban charge d'affaires here, Tuesday hosted a reception at the embassy on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks. Present there on invitation were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Pak Kyong Son, vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Gak, vice-minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Hyong Jun, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ri Myong San, vice-minister of Foreign Trade, and other officials concerned. Staff members of the Cuban embassy were also on hand.
    Enrique Montoto Cruz said in a speech that the Cuban people received genuine and disinterested assistance from world people, from the fraternal Korean people in particular, while waging their stubborn and brave struggle.
    The Cuban people, too, have always encouraged the fraternal Korean people in their struggle to build a powerful socialist nation, oppose the U.S. imperialists, the common enemy of the peoples the world over, protect peace from war and reunify the country and will render positive support to them in the future, too, he said, and continued:
    The relations of friendship and solidarity between Cuba and the DPRK based on the close friendship that existed between President Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people, and Supreme Commander Fidel Castro Ruz are being given steady continuity by the peoples of the two countries in the course of their struggle to defend the sovereignty and independence from the constant threats of the U.S. imperialists and their allies.
    No force on earth can break the strong friendly ties between the two peoples of Cuba and the DPRK that have grown strong throughout their history of common struggle and victory.
    Kim Ki Nam in his speech referred to the fact that the Cuban people have achieved great successes in the socialist construction, resolutely frustrating the sanctions and blockade of the U.S. imperialists in the revolutionary spirit of Moncada under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba headed by Fidel Castro Ruz.
    The Korean people are rejoiced over them as over their own and will extend full support and solidarity to the fraternal Cuban people in their just struggle to defend the motherland, revolution and socialist gains, he noted, and continued:

Portcall of U.S. Carrier Flotilla at S. Korean Port under Fire

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists introduced the flotilla of the nuclear-powered carrier Enterprise into south Korea against the backdrop of RIMPAC-2006 joint military exercises targeted against the DPRK. This is clear evidence proving their intention to pressurize and blackmail the DPRK militarily and deliberately strain the situation on the Korean Peninsula and ignite a new war any time they think appropriate. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says this in a signed commentary. It goes on:
    The U.S. claims the flotilla's portcall is a "regular visit," but no one believes it.
    It is well known that the nuclear-powered carrier has been used as a means of "gunboat diplomacy" of the U.S. imperialists and a shock brigade for surprise strike in carrying out a war of aggression.
    It is nobody's secret that this naval task force led by Enterprise appeared near the Korean Peninsula whenever the U.S. imperialists kicked up an anti-DPRK racket, bringing the situation on the peninsula to an extreme pitch of tension and creating the danger of a war there.
    The sphere of its operation is not confined to the Korean Peninsula only. Wherever the U.S. imperialists perpetrated military invasion, they rapidly mobilized huge naval task force including Enterprise to launch air-raids and make missile strikes and perform other military missions.
    It is not hard to guess what is sought by the portcall of Enterprise as it has been ill-famed for its missions carried out to execute the U.S. imperialists' wars of aggression.
    As proven by the flotilla's entry into south Korea, their moves to invade the DPRK are fraught with an increasing danger.
    Their evermore undisguised moves to start another Korean war and the ever-increasing danger of war posed by them only heighten the Korean people's hatred for the U.S.

Kim Jong Il's Feats for Development of Juche Philosophy Hailed

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Wednesday dedicates a signed article to the 10th anniversary of historic work of Kim Jong Il "The Juche Philosophy Is an Original Revolutionary Philosophy". In the work published on July 26, Juche 85 (1996) Kim Jong Il scientifically analyzed the limitations of the preceding theories and the uniqueness of the Juche philosophy and clarified that the Juche philosophy serves as the revolutionary, political philosophy of the Workers' Party of Korea.
    What is important in the feats he performed in glorifying the Juche philosophy as the revolutionary, political philosophy of the Party is that he scientifically proved the originality of the Juche philosophy and enriched the treasure house of the Juche idea with his rare ideological and theoretical wisdom and led the popular masses to carry out all work with the Juche philosophy as a powerful weapon for revolutionary practices, the article notes, and goes on:
    He in the work clarified that the originality of the Juche philosophy lies in that it was evolved and systematized by its peculiar principles and clearly proved that the Juche philosophy is fundamentally different from the preceding philosophies because its tasks and theories were evolved with man as a centre. 53rd Anniversary of Armed Uprising of Cuban People Marked

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The Korean people wholeheartedly congratulate the Cuban people on the 53rd anniversary of their armed uprising and sincerely wish the fraternal Cuban people greater success in their work for the prosperity of the country and accomplishment of the cause of socialism, states Rodong Sinmun in a signed article Wednesday. It goes on:
    The first gun report of the revolution that rang through Cuba 53 years ago still remains and will always remain an echo encouraging the Cuban people marching under the uplifted banner of socialism today in their cause of justice.
    The Cuban people have so far marched victoriously along the road of socialism chosen by them, bravely foiling the vicious acts of aggression of the imperialists and their moves to blockade and stifle Cuba.
    Hating Cuba tightly holding the banner of socialism in Latin America as a thorn in their flesh, the U.S. imperialists have resorted to a whole string of maneuvers including armed intervention, sabotage and sanctions intended to stifle the Cuban revolution. However, they could not block the road ahead of the Cuban people defending socialism in the spirit of Moncada.
    The Cuban people are now keeping their faith in socialism and standing very firm against the anti-Cuba moves of the U.S. imperialists, braving manifold obstacles and difficulties.
    Very strong is the mental power of the Cuban people in defending the motherland, revolution and socialism.
    The Korean people highly appreciate the achievements made by the Cuban people in the revolution and construction and extend firm support and solidarity to their just cause.

Japanese Authorities' Theory of "Preemptive Attack" on DPRK Assailed

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities vied with each other to cry out for a "preemptive attack" on the DPRK. This is a very serious development and a war outcry little short of a very provocative declaration of war. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes this in a signed commentary.
    The DPRK cannot but take a particularly serious note of the Japanese authorities' call for a "preemptive attack" upon it, the commentary warns, and goes on:
    Their trumpeting about the theory of "preemptive attack" in chorus clearly indicates that Japan's scenario to stage a comeback to Korea has entered the phase of its implementation.
    It is as clear as noonday that their call for "preemptive attack" on the DPRK will escalate the stand-off between the DPRK and Japan and coil up the tensions in Northeast Asia. It is not fortuitous that their reckless remarks about "preemptive attack" touched off strong apprehension and criticism among the neighboring countries of Japan including China and even in Japan. They dismissed them as "very irresponsible ones as they will only escalate tensions in Northeast Asia," "very unreasonable outbursts" and "a grave violation of the Constitution as they are fraught with the danger of reviving the situation before the Second World War."
    If Japan launches reinvasion with preemptive strikes, defying warnings and demands of the public at home and abroad, it will only meet its self-destruction.
    The Japanese reactionaries would be well advised not to go reckless like a newborn puppy which knows no fear of a tiger.

Treacherous Nature of GNP Debunked in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Reunification Solidarity reportedly released a commentary on July 21. Noting that the mean acts of the "Grand National Party" cohorts of south Korea in indulging in amusements, remaining indifferent to the prevention of flood damage, have been revealed in succession, it says:
    Their arrogant behavior clearly shows that the nature of the treacherous party can never change.
    The GNP got on its high horse and is strutting about like a conquering hero, much elated after "elections to local self-governing bodies". The people know well what consequences will be entailed by its arrogance. A political group ignoring people can never win the support of the people.
    The GNP should be clearly aware that it is already heading for self-destruction, warns the commentary.

Moves for Expansion of U.S. Military Base Assailed

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The All-People Measure Committee for Checking the Expansion of the U.S. Military Base in Phyongthaek reportedly held the fourth all-people meeting for checking the expansion and made public a resolution on July 22. Recalling that on July 20 the south Korean "government" charged inhabitants of Phyongthaek and the all-people measure committee poisoned the atmosphere of talks over the issue of the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, the resolution said that its outcries shifting the responsibility for the rupture of the talks onto the inhabitants and the measure committee remind one of a thief crying "Stop the thief!" and are nothing but a cunning attempt to invent a subterfuge for the eviction of the inhabitants.
    It bitterly denounced the "government's" unilateral and violent moves for the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek and urged it to immediately stop the moves and renegotiate the expansion plan with the U.S. as demanded by the people.

Women War Heroes

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- More than half a century has passed since the ceasefire of the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950 - July 1953). The army and people of the DPRK emerged victorious in the war by displaying unparalleled self-sacrifice spirit and bravery under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung. Among the known and unknown heroes were many women heroes who distinguished themselves in the hard-fought war with ardent patriotism, indomitable fighting spirit and revolutionary optimism.
    Typical of them was Hero of the DPRK Thae Son Hui. She was the first female aviator of the Korean People's Army.
    She, with her skilful low-altitude flight, surprised and bombed Taehwa Island several times in the teeth of the enemy's anti-aircraft fire barrier to annihilate a large number of soldiers and destroy combat and technical equipment. And she successfully bombed fuel depots and military establishments of the U.S. army in Inchon.
    In Juche 41 (1952), President Kim Il Sung granted an audience to her, highly praised for her battle gains and gave a pocket pistol to her as a gift.
    Hero Kim Hak Sil, a truck driver of the KPA, also gave a good account of herself in the war by carrying a large quantity of bullets and shells to the front. She made a 20,596-km non-accident run in six months from October 1951 to transport over 87,600 tons of war supplies.
    Army nurse Jo Sun Ok destroyed two enemy's tanks at the cost of her life and Ri Sun Im and An Yong Ae, nurses of the KPA, saved severely wounded soldiers by transfusing their blood to them. They were all heroes.
    Meanwhile, a number of women heroes were produced in the rear, too.
    Ri Su Dok joined a guerrilla unit in the enemy's rear to kill, wound and capture over a hundred enemy soldiers. And Jo Ok Hui, chairperson of the Pyoksong County women's union committee in South Hwanghae Province, was true to the revolutionary principles to the last moment of her life. Sin Pho Hyang and Ri Chan Hwa devoted themselves to ensuring the wartime production defying enemy's persistent air raids and manifold difficulties.

Wartime Orders and Decisions Unprecedented in World War History

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The world history of war has witnessed so many wartime orders and decisions. There were measures, not strategic and tactical ones, to completely overpower the warring countries by dealing a heavy mental blow to them.
    In the Korean war in the 1950s, the DPRK, two years old, had to fight the army two million strong of the U.S. imperialists and their allied forces. But it made such unheard-of military orders, decrees and decisions.
    President Kim Il Sung, the peerlessly brilliant commander of Songun with clairvoyance and matchless courage, stated that the United States misjudged the Korean people, on the very day when the war broke out. Convinced of the victory of the Korean people in the war, he worked out a grand blue-print for tomorrow in those hard-fought days.
    In January Juche 40 (1951), the President instructed officials that preparations for rehabilitation and construction of Pyongyang City should be made from then on and the city be built not in its original state but as a most civilized and modern grand city. He saw to it to draw a general plan for the rehabilitation and construction of Pyongyang. In May of the next year, he saw to it that the Cabinet adopted a decision on the preparation for the rehabilitation and construction of the city.
    When the United States was dispatching more and more mercenaries to the front as cannon fodder, the soldiers of the KPA were given an order on recalling soldiers to the rear.
    There were the directive of the Supreme Commander of the KPA on recalling and sending soldiers from the front to universities (January 1952) and an order of the Military Commission on dispatching thousands of soldiers as forest protectors so as to strengthen the forest conservancy work (March 1953). They stirred up the confidence in victory among the army and people of Korea.
    Popular policies were instituted one after another thanks to the noble outlook on people of the President who regarded the people as his God. These policies stroke terror into the hearts of the U.S. imperialist invaders.
    Among them were the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly "On Enforcing the Land Reform in the Southern Region of the DPRK" (July 1950) and the Cabinet decisions "On Introducing Free Medical Care System" (November 1952), "On Increasing the Food Provision Supplied to the Families of Workers, Technicians and Office Employees" (September 1952) and "On Establishing the Honored Disabled Soldiers Schools for Officers and Men of People's Army and Guerrillas Wounded in the Fatherland Liberation War" (April 1951).
    Such measures reflecting the faith in sure victory of the President aroused the army and people of Korea to heroic feats, making the DPRK the first victorious nation in the anti-U.S. confrontation in the world.
    As it is led by Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il similar to President Kim Il Sung, the DPRK will certainly emerge victorious in the present anti-U.S. confrontation.

Floral Basket and Congratulatory Letter to Kim Jong Il

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a floral basket and congratulatory letter by the military attaches' corps here on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. They were handed to an official concerned by Igor Pablov, military attache of the Russian embassy, on behalf of the corps on Wednesday.

Kim Il Chol Calls for Bolstering War Deterrent for Self-Defence

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- It is a stark reality in the DPRK that it can survive without sweets but not without bullets, said Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, in a report made at a national meeting held to mark the 53rd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. He called for giving priority to the development of national defence industry as required by the Workers' Party of Korea's line of economic construction in the Songun era and thus further bolstering the nation's war deterrent for self-defence. He stated that the nation's capacity for self-defence provides a sure guarantee for defending the sovereignty of the country and the nation and defending peace, declaring that it is the consistent principled stand of the WPK and the state of the DPRK to bolster the army and give priority to national defence.

Greetings to Polish PM

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Premier of the DPRK Cabinet Pak Pong Ju sent a message of greetings to Jaroslaw Kaczynski on his appointment as prime minister of Poland. In the belief that the relations between the two countries would grow stronger in mutual interests, the message wished him great success in his responsible work for prosperity of the country and welfare of the people.

Greetings to Liberian President

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Wednesday sent a message of greetings to Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on the independence day of the country. Kim in the message sincerely wished the president and people of Liberia great success in their work for the peace, stability and reconstruction of the country.

Greetings to Maldivian President

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Tuesday sent a message of greetings to Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom on the independence day of the country. Expressing the belief that the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would grow stronger in the future, the message sincerely wished him greater success in his work and the Maldivian people progress and prosperity.

Kim Il Sung Remembered in Cambodia and Sri Lanka

    Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Meetings for remembering President Kim Il Sung were held in Cambodia and Sri Lanka on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of his demise. Displayed at the venues of the meetings were photos showing the undying feats of Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
    Kong Sam Ol, deputy prime minister in charge of the Royal Palace of Cambodia, said that it is the duty of the Cambodian people to deeply remember the shining life of Kim Il Sung, a close friend of the Cambodian people. We will never forget the efforts made by him for the Cambodian people, he added.
    Reggie Ranatunge, director general of the Asian Regional Institute of the Juche Idea and chairman of the Sri Lanka-People's Korea Friendship Association, said that Kim Il Sung was the genuine leader of the people who devoted his all to the struggle for the freedom and liberation of the people and the accomplishment of the human cause of independence.
    W. A. Dumindwardane, secretary general of the Sri Lanka-People's Korea Friendship Association, said that the life of Kim Il Sung was the life of a great revolutionary which is shining with Songun and that the army and people of the DPRK could defend the socialist banner in high spirit and open a new era of building a great prosperous powerful nation under the leadership of Kim Jong Il as the President has successfully settled the issue of inheriting the Songun cause.

Rodong Sinmun denuncia el arribo de "Enterprise" al Sur de Corea

    Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- El diario Rodong Sinmun publico este miercoles un comentario individual que va como sigue: Recientemente, los imperialistas norteamericanos introdujeron en el Sur de Corea la flotilla del portaaviones de propulsion nuclear "Enterprise" coincidiendo con las maniobras militares conjuntas "Rimpac-2006" que tienen por su blanco a la RPDC.
    Esto deviene una prueba evidente de que ellos intentan desencadenar una nueva guerra cuando lo consideren necesario al presionar militarmente a la RPDC y agravar intencionalmente la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana.
    Aunque EE.UU. justifica el arribo de la controvertida flotilla como "visita regular", nadie le hara caso porque "Enterprise" siempre fue utilizado como medio de la "diplomacia de canonazo" y la brigada de ataque movil en el cumplimiento de la guerra de agresion por parte de este pais.
    Pues ya no es secreto que esta brigada aparecia en las periferias de nuestro pais cada vez que los imperialistas norteamericanos arreciaban la campana anti-RPDC y llevaban al borde de la guerra la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana.
    El asunto no se limita a esta region.
    En cualquier parte donde se desato la agresion militar por parte de los imperialistas gringos, un gran contingente de las fuerzas navales para el ataque movil, inclusive el portaaviones en cuestion, se desplazo rapidamente para alli para cumplir la mision de despachar los aviones y lanzar los misiles.
    Entonces, no es dificil adivinar que significa la llegada de ese connotado buque al puerto surcoreano.
    Como demuestra este caso, las maniobras norteamericanas para invadir a Corea adquieren cada vez mayor peligrosidad.
    Pero, a medida que se agranda el peligro de una nueva guerra contra Corea debido a las abiertas maniobras del imperio, tambien se multiplica el animo antiyanqui del pueblo coreano.

Rodong Sinmun denuncia teoria de "ataque preventivo" de Japon

    Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- Los gobernantes de Japon hablan a porfia del "ataque preventivo", lo cual deviene un serio problema y arrogante declaracion belica contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. Asi comienza un comentario individual del periodico Rodong Sinmun insertado en su edicion del dia 26 y continua:
    No podemos pasar por alto la teoria de "ataque preventivo" de los gobernantes japoneses contra la RPDC.
    La presente declaracion belica de los gobernantes japoneses insinua que la intencion de nueva agresion de Japon a Corea entra en la etapa practica.
    Es obvio que con tal teoria ellos agravaran la confrontacion con Corea y exacerbaran la situacion del Nordeste Asiatico.
    Por el respecto en China y otros paises vecinos e incluso dentro de Japon se elevan las voces de preocupacion y reproche: "Es una declaracion muy irresponsable que agrava la situacion del Nordeste Asiatico", "Declaracion arrogante y absurda.", "Su teoria es una grave violacion a la Constitucion y entrana el peligro de volver al tiempo anterior a la guerra.", etc.
    Si Japon emprende una nueva agresion con el primer ataque pese a la advertencia y demanda interna y externa, sufrira solo la derrota.
    Los reaccionarios japoneses deben estar muy conscientes de eso y actuar con prudencia.

Rodong Sinmun felicita al pueblo cubano

    Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- El pueblo coreano saluda calurosamente el 53o aniversario de la insurreccion armada del pueblo cubano y desea de todo corazon al hermano pueblo cubano mayores exitos en sus esfuerzos por la prosperidad del pais y el cumplimiento de la causa del socialismo. Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 26 y continua:
    El primer fusilazo de la revolucion, que resono hace ahora 53 anos en la tierra cubana, deviene un eterno eco que estimula la justa causa del pueblo cubano que hoy tambien enarbola la bandera del socialismo.
    El pueblo cubano ha avanzado victoriosamente por el camino del socialismo optado por si mismo frustrando con valentia las siniestras maniobras de agresion y bloqueo de los imperialistas.
    Los imperialistas norteamericanos, al considerar como una espina clavada en sus ojos a Cuba que enarbola con toda firmeza la bandera del socialismo en America Latina, recurrieron a todas las maniobras de intervencion armada, subversion, sabotaje y sancion para acabar con la Revolucion Cubana. Pero, no ha podido detener la marcha del pueblo cubano que defiende el socialismo con el espiritu del Moncada.
    Hoy dia, el pueblo cubano no se deja vacilar ante multiples dificultades y obstaculos sino guarda invariablemente la fe en el socialismo rechazando valientemente las maniobras anticubanas de los imperialistas yanquis.
    Es muy alentadora la firme voluntad del pueblo cubano de defender la patria, la revolucion y el socialismo.
    El pueblo coreano evalua de altos los exitos que el pueblo cubano logra en la revolucion y la construccion y envia firme apoyo y solidaridad a la justa causa de este.
    En la severa lucha contra el enemigo comun se estrechan los lazos revolucionarios de ambos pueblos y se fortalece de dia en dia la amistad coreano-cubana.
    Saldra ciertamente victoriosa la justa causa del pueblo cubano que vive y lucha con el espiritu de Moncada.

Embajada Cubana ofrece banquete por el 26 de Julio

    Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 53o aniversario del asalto al Cuartel Moncada, el encargado de negocios a.i. de la Embajada de la Republica de Cuba en Corea, Enrique Montoto Cruz, ofrecio el dia 25 un banquete en su sede diplomatica. Fueron invitados el secretario del CC del Partido del Trabajo de Corea Kim Ki Nam, el ministro de Educacion Kim Yong Jin, el presidente interino del Comite de Relaciones Culturales con el Extranjero Mun Jae Chol, el subjefe de departamento del CC del PTC Pak Kyong Son, el viceministro de las Fuerzas Armadas Populares Kim Jong Gak, el vicecanciller Kim Hyong Jun, el viceministro de Comercio Exterior Ri Myong San y otros funcionarios coreanos.
    Tambien estuvieron presentes los miembros de la embajada cubana.
    Al hacer uso de la palabra, el diplomatico cubano recordo que en el curso de su tenaz y valiente lucha, el pueblo cubano conto con la sincera y desinteresada ayuda de los pueblos del mundo, en particular, del hermano pueblo coreano.
    Destaco que a su vez, el pueblo cubano siempre vino estimulando la lucha del hermano pueblo coreano por construir una potencia socialista, rechazar a los imperialistas estadounidenses, enemigo comun de los pueblos del orbe entero, preservar la paz al prevenir la guerra y lograr la reunificacion de la patria y en el futuro tambien seguira apoyandola activamente.
    Subrayo que las relaciones de amistad y solidaridad entre Cuba y Corea, basadas en la intimidad entre el gran Lider del pueblo coreano, camarada Kim Il Sung y el Comandante en Jefe del pueblo cubano, companero Fidel Castro Ruz, continuan en el camino para defender la soberania y la independencia de los dos pueblos frente a las persistentes amenazas de los imperialistas norteamericanos y sus aliados.
    Aseguro que no hay en este mundo ninguna fuerza capaz de quebrantar los fuertes lazos de amistad entre los dos pueblos, unidos a traves de la lucha comun y la historia de victorias.
    Le siguio en usar la palabra Kim Ki Nam, quien dijo que bajo la sabia direccion del Partido Comunista de Cuba liderado por el camarada Fidel Castro Ruz, el pueblo cubano, heredero del espiritu revolucionario del Moncada, logra grandes exitos en la construccion del socialismo frustrando tajantemente la sancion y el bloqueo por parte de los imperialistas estadounidenses, de lo cual el pueblo coreano se regocija mucho.
    @Prosiguio que el pueblo coreano enviara en lo adelante tambien irrestricto apoyo y solidaridad a la justa lucha del hermano pueblo cubano por salvaguardar la patria, la revolucion y las conquistas del socialismo.
    Las tradicionales relaciones de amistad y cooperacion entre los dos partidos y pueblos, establecidas por la inusual camaraderia entre el camarada Kim Il Sung y el companero Fidel Castro Ruz, se fortalecen y se desarrollan cada dia mas bajo la profunda atencion de los maximos lideres de ambos paises, subrayo.
    Reafirmo que en lo adelante tambien el PTC y el pueblo coreano haran ingentes esfuerzos por ampliar y fortalecer globalmente en todas las esferas los lazos de amistad y cooperacion con Cuba socialista, basados en la camaraderia, la fidelidad a principios revolucionarios y obligacion clasista.
