50th Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's Visit to Mongolia Marked

    Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- A meeting to mark the 50th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's visit to Mongolia was held at the Central Palace of Culture in Ulaan Baatar on Aug. 3 under the co-sponsorship of the Federation of Peace and Friendship Organizations of Mongolia and the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society. It was attended by a vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, General Secretary of the Federation of Peace and Friendship Organizations D. Bilegt, Chairman of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society Ch. Surenjav and its Executive Chairman B. Baigalmaa, officials of the units named after the three generals of Mt. Paektu, those who were honored with the audience of Kim Il Sung and other people from all walks of life.
    Present on invitation there were the visiting delegation of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries led by acting Chairman Mun Jae Chol, the charge d'affaires ad interim and staff members of the DPRK embassy in Ulaan Baatar and officials of the Korean Friendship Cultural Centre in Mongolia.
    An opening address by the executive chairman of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society was followed by speeches at the meeting.
    A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
    After the meeting a special performance was given by the artistes of the ensemble of the Mongolian army.
    The performers put on the stage Korean songs "Song of General Kim Il Sung," "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung," "Thunder on Jong Il Peak" and "Let's Sing of Our Pride in Being under the Guidance of the General" and Mongolian songs and dances.
    A photo exhibition and a film show were held at the Central Palace of Culture on the same day under the co-sponsorship of the Federation and the Society on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kim Il Sung's visit to Mongolia.

FKTU Declares Continued Struggle

    Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- The Federation of south Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) reportedly released a statement on Aug. 1 in connection with the death of Ha Jung Gun, member of the Phohang Construction Trade Union. The statement said that some time ago, Ha Jung Gun was hit on the head by a shield of the police while attending a "rally to achieve victory in the strike of the Phohang Construction Trade Union and denounce crackdown by force" and was carried to a hospital before breathing his last.
    The statement strongly demanded the government immediately investigate the truth about his death and sternly punish the very one concerned and the chief of police.
    Noting that the struggle of the construction workers in Phohang has not been stopped, the statement declared that they would continue the vigorous struggle for improving their position.

Moves to Perpetuate U.S. Forces' Presence in S. Korea under Fire

    Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and the south Korean military authorities agreed to stipulate the continued presence of the U.S. aggressor forces in south Korea in the so-called "alliance blueprint" to be produced by the 38th south Korea-U.S. "annual security consultative meeting" slated to take place in upcoming October. Rodong Sinmun Monday observes in a signed commentary carried in this regard:
    This is little short of a declaration of a war against the DPRK as it is aimed at straining the situation on the Korean Peninsula in a bid to justify the presence of the U.S. forces in south Korea and invade the north and, at the same time, a blatant challenge to the Koreans advancing along the road of independent reunification in the idea of "By our nation itself."
    The DPRK cannot but take a serious note of the fact that the U.S. and the south Korean authorities openly revealed their criminal design to perpetuate the presence of the U.S. aggressor forces in south Korea and swallow up the whole of Korea.
    These forces are neither "deterrence" nor a "protector" of anybody. The U.S. intention to keep its forces in south Korea even after the reunification of the Korean Peninsula proves that it is set to block the reunification of the peninsula and sacrifice the Korean nation for carrying out its strategy to dominate Asia.
    Begging for the permanent presence of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in south Korea is as servile and mean traitorous an act as selling off the dignity and interests of the nation to the outside forces.
    The south Korean authorities have not yet come to themselves though they have suffered all sorts of humiliation for more than six decades, their sovereignty violated by the U.S. imperialists. That is why they are still perpetrating such crimes against the nation as allowing the U.S. forces to stay in south Korea for an indefinite period to serve those aggressor forces even in this June 15 era of independent reunification. They should bear in mind that such servile behavior is nothing but an act of treachery bringing the disaster of a nuclear war to the nation and a foolish act of digging their own graves.

Koreans Urged to Maintain Strong National Self-Esteem

    Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation has nothing to fear and impossible as it is inspired by the great Songun politics defending its dignity and sovereignty and strong will to live independently and the united strength of the 70 million Koreans. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    Strong national self-esteem serves as a powerful mental weapon to be tightly held by the compatriots in the anti-U.S., anti-war struggle, a life-and-death struggle with the aggressors.
    It is a proud tradition and one of the characteristic features of the Koreans to ardently love the country and the nation and set store by its dignity more than anything else.
    The above-said self-esteem represents the faith and grit based on the conviction of the Korean nation's advantages and might.
    Koreans will display their inexhaustible strength when they struggle confident of the justice and certain victory of the anti-U.S., anti-war struggle and full of faith and optimism.
    The Koreans have lived, separated in the north and the south, due to the territorial partition imposed upon them by foreign forces. Yet their spirit of fighting against aggression and defending the country is still alive.
    The DPRK is demonstrating its might as an invincible nation under the patriotic banner of Songun.
    The Korean nation has armed forces strong enough to defeat any formidable enemy in the world. No force can match the DPRK's invincible forces, the tremendous deterrent for self-defence which the Korean people have built up under the uplifted banner of Songun with a will not to allow any aggressors to infringe upon the dignity and sovereignty of the nation in the least.
    The DPRK's Songun politics and invincible deterrence for self-defence serve as a source of strength encouraging the Koreans to confidently advance with national self-esteem along the road of the anti-U.S., anti-war struggle.

Schoolchildren Enjoy Camping at Songdowon International Children's Camp

    Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- Local and foreign schoolchildren are enjoying camping at the Songdowon International Children's Camp situated on the east coast of the DPRK. Since the start of camping on July 31, Korean children and those from various countries have conducted colorful activities in accordance with the camping schedule.
    Every day they are bathing for three to four hours in the sea bathing place and indoor swimming pool of the camp on the seashore.
    Through ten circle rooms including the "Maritime Knowledge Dissemination Room" and "Mountaineering Knowledge Dissemination Room", they consolidate what they have learnt at schools and acquire new scientific knowledge.
    They are also enjoying boating and sightseeing aboard a ship. And the Korean and foreign campers are holding multifarious activities at the "International Friendship Children's House" and functions of "day of the nation", which leave deep impression on their minds.
    According to Ri Myong Sun, instructor of the Extracurricular Education Guidance Bureau for Youth and Children under the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, more than 12,000 local and foreign schoolchildren come to the camp every year.
    The camp was built in August Juche 49 (1960) in accordance with the noble outlook on the rising generation of President Kim Il Sung, who said the best things should be given to the children.
    Under the loving care of Kim Jong Il, who spares nothing for the children, the camp building, with a total floor space of over 40,000 square meters, was reconstructed in a unique form of architecture in March 1993.

Bathing Resorts on East Coast Boom

    Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- The bathing resorts along the shore of the East Sea of Korea are booming these days, the hottest period of the summer. Beautiful are seashores where curious rocks, sandy beaches, sweet brier flowers and pine-tree forests are well blended with the blue sea water.
    The quality of water is good and its temperature is 25-29 degrees centigrade in summer.
    There are many bathing resorts on the east coast including Songdowon, Majon and Soho.
    Each day tens of thousands of working people and school children are enjoying their holidays, bathing in the sea and in the sun on the sandy beaches and practicing flag signaling.
    There are a swimming beach and a rest home for miners in Kiam-ri, Riwon County.
    In summer, a special train for miners of Komdok, Paekgumsan and Taehung in the Tanchon area is operated every day.
    Other scenic spots on the east coast -- Haechilbo of Mt. Chilbo which constitutes beautiful scenery with rainbow rock, elephant rock and curious rock cliffs, Chongsokjong in the sea off Thongchon and Haksadae in the sea off Riwon -- are all full of joy of people who are enjoying their holidays.
    This shows well the optimism of the Korean people who invariably advancing forward, convinced of the better morrow, although they are facing difficulties today.

Premier of Cabinet Meets Chinese Ambassador

    Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, met and had a talk with Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe who paid a farewell call on him at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Monday. On hand were Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Yong Il and officials concerned.

Rodong Sinmun denuncia presencia de tropas yanquis en el Sur de Corea

    Pyongyang, 7 de agosto (ATCC) -- Estados Unidos y las autoridades militares del Sur de Corea "acordaron" estipular la permanencia indefinida de tropas agresoras norteamericanas en el Sur de Corea en un supuesto "diseno azul de la alianza" que se expondra en la "38a reunion consultiva de seguridad anual" que tendra lugar en octubre venidero. Esto es una declaracion de guerra. En fin, se proponen exacerbar la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana para justificar la presencia de los uniformados yanquis en el Sur de Corea y provocar la guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea, y un brutal desafio a la nacion coreana que aspira a lograr la reunificacion independiente bajo el ideal de "entre nosotros, los connacionales".
    Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual de este lunes y prosigue:
    No podemos menos que tratar con seriedad el hecho de que EE.UU. y las autoridades surcoreanas expresan abiertamente la ambicion criminal de mantener infinitamente las tropas agresoras yanquis en el Sur de Corea y anexar a toda Corea.
    Las tropas norteamericanas ocupantes del Sur de Corea no son "fuerzas de detencion" de cierta indole ni "protectoras" de alguien. EE.UU. trata de continuar la presencia de sus tropas en el Sur de Corea tambien despues de la reunificacion de la Peninsula Coreana. Esto prueba que el imperio intenta impedir la reunificacion de la Peninsula Coreana y tomar por trampolin a la nacion coreana para la realizacion de su estrategia de dominio a Asia.
    Implorar la ocupacion indefinida de tropas agresoras yanquis en el Sur de Corea es un vil acto traidor de vender por completo la dignidad y los intereses nacionales a las fuerzas extranjeras.
    Las autoridades surcoreanas no estan concientes todavia de que llevan mas de 60 anos sometidas a toda clase de humillaciones siendo arrebatada su soberania por el imperio. Por eso, hasta hoy que es la epoca de reunificacion independiente del 15 de junio siguen cometiendo actos criminales antinacionales de implorar la permanencia indefinida de las tropas ocupantes. Las autoridades surcoreanas deben tener presente que sus actos proyanquis son una estupidez de llevar la nacion al desastre de la guerra nuclear y adelantar su autodestruccion.

Rodong Sinmun aboga por defender la dignidad nacional

    Pyongyang, 7 de agosto (ATCC) -- La nacion coreana no tiene nada temible ni imposible porque cuenta con la gran politica de Songun (priorizacion militar), que defiende su dignidad y soberania, las fuerzas unidas de 70 millones de coreanos y su firme voluntad de vivir independientemente. 　Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 7 y continua:
    　El fuerte orgullo nacional constituye una poderosa arma espiritual que todos los connacionales deben empunar con firmeza en la batalla de vida o muerte contra los imperialistas norteamericanos y la guerra.
    　Amar con fervor al pais y la nacion y apreciar mucho la dignidad nacional constituye la gloriosa tradicion e idiosincrasia de la nacion coreana.
    　La dignidad nacional se genera de la conviccion y el coraje originados por la superioridad de la nacion coreana y sus fuerzas propias.
    　Resultara inagotable la potencialidad de toda la nacion coreana cuando lucha con mucho optimismo y confianza en la justeza de lucha antiyanqui y antibelica y en lo inevitable de la victoria.
    　Aunque por ahora los coterraneos viven divididos en el Norte y el Sur por culpa de las fuerzas foraneas, mantienen el mismo espiritu de defender la patria contra los invasores.
    　Hoy, la RPDC se erige como una invencible potencia enarbolando la bandera del Songun, signada del amor a la patria y la nacion.
    　La nacion coreana tiene poderosas fuerzas armadas capaces de derrotar a cualesquier enemigos fuertes de este mundo. Pues nadie podra doblegar las poderosisimas fuerzas disuasorias de autodefensa y los invencibles fusiles que bajo la bandera del Songun preparo el pueblo coreano con la determinacion de no tolerar ni en lo minimo a los agresores que se atrevan a atentar la dignidad y la soberania nacional.
    　La politica de Songun y las invencibles fuerzas disuasorias de autodefensa permiten a toda la nacion coreana seguir con la dignidad nacional en el camino de lucha antiyanqui y antibelica.

Crece el numero de banistas en el Mar Este de Corea

    Pyongyang, 7 de agosto (ATCC) -- En estos dias caniculares, se animan mas que nunca las costas del Mar Este de Corea. Las oleadas azules, rocas extranas, extensos arenales, escaramujos rojos, bosques de pinos y otros parajes en perfecta armonia de las playas locales bastan para seducir a un gran numero de banistas.
    Estan enclavados muchos balnearios a lo largo de las orillas del Mar Este, caracterizadas por buena calidad acuifera y temperatura de 25-29oC en el verano.
    En particular, la playa Songdowon, la del Parque de Recreacion de Majon y la de escolares de Soho se repletan todos los dias de decenas de miles de trabajadores, ninos escolares y ancianos que pasan agradables ratos de descanso.
    En tanto, cada vez que llega el verano, las costas de la comuna de Kiam del distrito de Riwon, donde saltan a la vista unas casas de descanso, se colman de mineros ameritados de Komdok, Paekkumsan, Taehung y otras partes de la zona de Tanchon, quienes se trasladan para aca en un tren exclusivo para ellos.
    Tambien, sucede lo mismo en el Chilbo maritimo del monte homonimo, donde es visible un paisaje de mil maravillas formado por la roca Mujigae (arco iris), la Khokkiri (elefante) y distintas columnas de piedra, Farallones Chongsokjong en el mar frente a Thongchon, Haksadae en el mar frente a Riwon y otras zonas litorales.
    Se puede decir que en el Mar Este se transcribe el gran optimismo del pueblo coreano que muy convencido de su futuro maravilloso, avanza superando con risas todas las dificultades.
