U.S. Forces' Bombing of Tok Islet and Mass Killing of Civilians under Fire

    Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, the press corps of the south Korean KBS disclosed the fact that a civic organization of Ullung Island found out concrete evidence including bomb splinters and unexploded bombs which proved the fact that the United States used Tok Islet as a bombing drill ground of its air force right after August 15 liberation of Korea. Among other things it told the shocking story that on June 9, 1948 a U.S. bomber appeared in the sky above Tok Islet and indiscriminately dropped bombs over the islet as well as on fishing boats at work in the waters near it, killing many fishermen. A spokesman for the North Headquarters of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind the GIs' Crimes issued a statement on Friday in this regard.
    The statement said the killing of at least 300 civilians by indiscriminately bombing Tok Islet in peace time, not in the wartime, was thrice-cursed barbarism which could be committed only by beast-like U.S. troops and a deliberate mass killing of Koreans.
    It further said:
    In those days the U.S. forces side justified itself by claiming that the bomber wrongly bombed fishing boats after taking them for rocks, and the U.S. and the south Korean authorities have tried to conceal the case though nearly 60 years have passed since then, far from making an investigation into the number of casualties caused by the bombing and other aspects of the massacre.
    The bombing of Tok Islet and mass killing of civilians are triggering off bitter resentment among all the Koreans as they provide more clear evidence proving the U.S. brutalities.
    The 60 odd year-long-history of the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea is, in the true sense of the word, a history of the most barbarous massacres aimed at exterminating the Korean nation and a history of brigandish aggression by warmongers.
    The south Korean people can never escape misfortune and sufferings nor can the Korean nation get rid of war disasters as long as the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces stay in south Korea.
    The United States and the south Korean authorities should probe the truth about the above-said cases, make an apology and punish those responsible for them.
    South Korean people from all walks of life should turn out as one in the struggle to get the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces, the root cause of all misfortune and sufferings, withdrawn from south Korea at an early date and regain the usurped dignity and sovereignty of the nation.

Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Marked in Austria and Mexico

    Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- A meeting and a film show were held in Austria on Aug. 1 and a seminar and a film show in Mexico on Aug. 4 on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of Korea's liberation. Erich Zavadil, chairman of the Consultative Committee of Austria, said at a meeting that the august name of President Kim Il Sung will be immortal with socialist Korea.
    Ramon Jimenez Lopez, president of the Mexican Committee for the Study of Kimilsungism, noted at a seminar that the exploits Kim Il Sung performed by achieving the liberation of Korea with his Songun leadership will shine long not only in the history of the Korean nation but in the world history of the national liberation movement.
    Participants of the film shows watched Korean films including "For the Liberation of the Country".

Seminar Held to Observe Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work

    Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- A seminar was held Thursday to observe the 10th anniversary of the publication of the famous work of Kim Jong Il "On Bringing about a New Turn in the Land Management". Kim Hak Gwon, vice-minister of Land and Environment Preservation, and other speakers noted that Kim Jong Il made public the work on Aug. 11, Juche 85 (1996) in which he set out a new idea and theory of land development of Korean style, guided by the Juche idea, and opened a new history of turning the land into a socialist land of bliss.
    They recalled that he set out in the work the idea of general mobilization for land administration and made sure that it was conducted as a work of the whole party and society. Very busy as he was with the Songun revolutionary leadership, he radically changed the country's appearance to meet the need of socialism and has energetically led the land management, they added.
    They gave detailed accounts of the facts that a high-pitched drive for the general mobilization for land administration was under way across the country to bring about an unprecedented surge in the work and world startling miracles and innovations were reported from every part of the country, a clear proof of its justice and vitality.
    The gigantic changes made over the last decade are the brilliant fruition of Kim Jong Il's Juche-oriented idea of the general mobilization for land administration and his wise leadership, they pointed out, stressing that these undying exploits will go down to posterity with the history of building a great prosperous powerful nation.

Treachery of Pro-American Conservatives and Security Authorities under Fire in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration reportedly released a statement on August 7 to demand the pro-American conservative forces and security authorities immediately stop actions against the June 15 joint declaration. Disclosing the fact that the security authorities are getting overheated in the suppression of the progressive forces of the reunification movement by joining conservative media in their anti-national, anti-reunification offensive, the statement went on:
    The pro-American conservative forces, in step with the U.S. moves for a war against the north, are barring the inter-Korean relations developing favorably after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration and suppressing the progressive forces of the reunification movement in a bid to turn the advance of history back to the era of confrontation and seize power.
    If they come to power, they will only pursue a war.
    The U.S. is persistently backing them with a view to putting into practice its plan for a war against the north. The pro-American conservative forces are desperately trying to scramble power with the backing of the U.S., taking no account of the security of the nation.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Applying Common Idea of Nation

    Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- The way of opening a new phase for the cause of national reunification and bringing earlier the day of reunification is to thoroughly apply the idea of "By our nation itself" and more dynamically conduct the three-point patriotic movement. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article Friday. To achieve the independent reunification of the country by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation is the basic spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and the invariable and steadfast will of the nation no matter how situation and circumstance may change, the article notes, and goes on:
    "By our nation itself" is the common idea of the nation for independent reunification and the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity is the struggle to put the idea into practice.
    The patriotic movement for independent reunification serves as the direct application and practice of the idea of "By our nation itself" as it is the patriotic movement to reunify the country independently by the Korean nation itself.
    The principle of independence is the core of settlement of the issue of national reunification, and reunification related to the destiny of the fellow countrymen is unthinkable without this principle. Korea should be reunified by the Korean nation itself without interference of any outside forces.
    The patriotic movement for peace against war is one to pool the efforts of the Korean nation to oppose the war moves of foreign forces and defend peace of the country.
    The struggle for peace against war today is one to build up the structure of confrontation between the whole Korean nation and the United States and one to win victory in the confrontation. The aggression and war moves of the U.S. imperialists cannot be smashed successfully without applying the idea of independence and unity such as "By our nation itself".
    The essential content of the patriotic movement for great national unity is to apply the idea of "By our nation itself".

Wind Power Resources Survey under Way

    Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- The survey of wind power resources is going great guns in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The wind power survey team of the Geographical Institute under the State Academy of Sciences has recently established a method of measuring wind speed to suit the topographical conditions of the country and regional features and a scientific methodology of estimating wind intensity in a new way. On the basis of this, the team has found out hundreds of windy zones in the country.
    They include Mudu Peak of Samjiyon County, the Paekam area and Solhan Pass bordering Jangjin and Ryongrim Counties in northern highland, Hwangcho Pass bordering Taehung and Nyongwon Counties, the water shed and Kirin Pass table land on the Pukdaebong Mountain range and the Jihari table land of Phangyo County bordering Kangwon and North Hwanghae Provinces.
    The survey team also made a "wind intensity distribution chart" on a reduced scale of one to 500,000.
    The confirmation of the amount of wind power resources and kindly areas for using them has provided a solid foundation for utilizing wind.
    The wind power survey team was organized in March Juche 67 (1978).
    The team is now undertaking a detailed survey on wind power resources in each area of the country.

Stream of People Visit Arch of Triumph

    Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- More and more people from all walks of life are visiting the Arch of Triumph magnificently standing at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang these days, with the approach of the National Liberation Day (August 15). The number of the visitors has summed up to more than a million since it was unveiled in April 1982.
    Among them are over 63,000 Koreans overseas and over 266,000 foreigners.

    Pyongyang, 11 de agosto (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 10 el simposio por el decenario de la publicacion de la obra maestra del Dirigente Kim Jong Il "Para producir un nuevo viraje en la administracion del territorio nacional". 　El viceministro de Proteccion Territorial y Ambiental, Kim Hak Gwon, y otros oradores senalaron que al publicarla el 11 de agosto del 85 (1996) de la Era Juche, el Dirigente presento autoctonas ideas y teorias de la construccion territorial, basadas en la idea Juche, y dio inicio a una nueva historia para la conversion del territorio nacional en un paraiso socialista.

Lucha por materializar el ideal comun de la nacion

    Pyongyang, 11 de agosto (ATCC) -- Desplegar mas energicamente los tres movimientos patrioticos mediante la materializacion estricta del ideal de "entre nosotros, los connacionales" es el camino para dar inicio a una nueva era de la causa de reunificacion de la patria y para adelantar el dia de realizacion de esta causa. Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 11 y continua:
    La realizacion de manera independiente de la reunificacion del pais con las fuerzas unidas de la nacion es el espiritu fundamental de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y la firme voluntad que mantiene nuestra nacion en cualquier circunstancias que sean.
    "Entre nosotros, los connacionales" es el ideal comun de la nacion para la reunificacion independiente y los tres movimientos patrioticos por la reunificacion independiente, por la paz contra la guerra y por la gran unidad nacional son la lucha por ponerlo en practica.
    El movimiento patriotico por la reunificacion independiente es la materializacion directa y la practica del ideal de "entre nosotros, los connacionales".
    El principio de la independencia es el nucleo de la solucion del problema de la reunificacion de la patria y al margen de este principio no se puede hablar de la reunificacion que esta relacionada con el destino de la nacion. La reunificacion de la patria se debe realizar por las fuerzas propias de la nacion coreana sin ninguna intervencion extranjera.
    El movimiento patriotico por la paz contra la guerra es para rechazar las maniobras belicas de las fuerzas extranjeras y defender la paz del pais con las fuerzas unidas de la nacion coreana.
    Hoy dia, la lucha por la paz contra la guerra es la labor para llevar a la practica la estructura de confrontacion de toda la nacion coreana vs. EE.UU. y para lograr la victoria en esta confrontacion. Hay que materializar el ideal de la independencia, ideal de la unidad como el de "entre nosotros, los connacionales" para frustrar con exito las maniobras de agresion y guerra de los imperialistas yanquis.

    "Entre nosotros, los connacionales" es el ideal de gran unidad. Al margen de la unidad nacional no se puede pensar en el valor de existencia de este ideal ni hablar de su materializacion.

Producida nueva pelicula "Pyongyang Nalpharam"

    Pyongyang, 11 de agosto (ATCC) -- Los Estudios Cinematograficos de Corea acabaron de producir una nueva pelicula de tema historico "Pyongyang Nalpharam". Esta obra maestra de la epoca del Songun (priorizacion militar) reproduce un hecho historico de que en visperas de la "anexion de Corea a Japon", especificamente, al principio del siglo pasado, los practicantes de Thaekgyon (una modalidad componente de Taekwon-do) del capitalino monte Taesong lucharon tenazmente contra los imperialistas japoneses que pretendian eliminar el arte marcial ortodoxo de la nacion coreana.
    Muestra el fervoroso patriotismo y gran valentia del pueblo coreano y corrobora que Pyongyang con larga historia y brillante cultura es la cuna donde nacio y fue defendido hasta las ultimas consecuencias el arte marcial ortodoxo, signado de la inteligencia y el impetu de la nacion coreana.

Jonminthukwi revela atrocidades de tropas yanquis en isla Tok

    Pyongyang, 11 de agosto (ATCC) -- Recientemente uin grupo de reporteros de la radioemisora surcoreana "KBS" revelo que una entidad civil de la isla Ulrung hallo cascos de bombas, proyectiles sin explotar y otros materiales confirmando que inmediatamente despues de la liberacion de Corea (el 15 de agosto de 1945) Estados Unidos utilizo la isla Tok como un campo de entrenamiento de bombardeos aereos. 　En particular, desenmascaro que el 9 de junio de 1948 un cazabombardero de la aviacion norteamericana arrojo bombas de modo indiscriminado contra la isla Tok y un barco, que se dedicaba a la pesca en aguas perifericas, matando a un gran numero de pescadores.
    　Al respecto, el portavoz de la direccion nortena del Comite Pannacional de Averiguacion Especial para Esclarecer Verdaderos Aspectos de Crimenes de Tropas Norteamericanas (Jonminthukwi) hizo publica el dia 11 una declaracion.
    　Ese inmisericorde bombardeo perpetrado en tiempos de paz asesino en unos instantes a mas de 300 civiles, senala la declaracion y prosigue:
    　Este premeditado genocidio contra los connacionales es una imperdonable salvajada que pueden cometer solo las bestias yanquis.
    　Sin embargo, en aquel entonces las tropas norteamericanas excusaron que fue un "bombardeo erroneo por haber equivocado al barco pesquero con una roca".
    　Aunque transcurrieron casi 60 anos desde aquel incidente, EE.UU. y las autoridades surcoreanas intentan hasta la fecha dejar en secreto el numero de los muertos y los demas datos, lejos de esclarecer sus verdaderos aspectos.
    　El bombardeo y el genocidio en la isla Tok devienen otra prueba contundente de la brutalidad de Estados Unidos y producen vehemente indignacion de toda la nacion coreana.
    　La historia de ocupacion del Sur de Corea por las tropas norteamericanas durante mas de 60 anos es la de matanzas mas salvajes y sangrientas para exterminar a todos los coreanos y la de agresion bandidesca.
    　Mientras existen en el suelo surcoreano las tropas agresoras norteamericanas, la poblacion surcoreana no podra liberarse de desdichas y calamidades y la nacion coreana tendra que sufrir desastres de la guerra.
    　Estados Unidos y las autoridades surcoreanas deben aclarar los verdaderos aspectos de dichos crimenes, pedir disculpa por el respecto y castigar a los responsables.
    　Los habitantes de distintos sectores del Sur de Corea deben levantarse como un solo hombre en la lucha por expulsar cuanto antes a los efectivos norteamericanos, que son causa de desgracias y dolores de toda clase, y por rescatar la dignidad y la soberania nacionales violadas.
