KCNA Comments on "Ulji Focus Lens" Joint Military Exercises

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The U.S.-south Korea "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises against the DPRK are now getting frantic. The large-scale joint military exercises targeting the DPRK at a time when the political and military situation of the Korean Peninsula has become extremely strained and complicated are a prelude to the second Korean war to be launched by the U.S. according to its nuclear preemptive attack strategy.
    Now the confrontation between the DPRK and the United States has gone to extremes owing to the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK and, accordingly, it is more important than ever before to ease the tension and ensure peace in and around the Korean Peninsula.
    It is nonsensical for the U.S. to claim that the joint military exercises getting on the nerves of the DPRK are "annual military exercises".
    This clearly proves that the U.S. has no willingness to remove the standoff with the DPRK.
    The exercises are an undisguised military threat to the DPRK and a dangerous war move as they were prompted by the U.S. adventurous attempt to lead the DPRK-U.S. confrontation to a war.
    The U.S. is now stepping up the reinforcement and relocation of its troops in south Korea under the pretext of "strategic flexibility" and modified its operation plan against the north on the basis of its preemptive attack strategy.
    The "Ulji Focus Lens" is also a preliminary war to perfect the combat command and operation system of the armed forces of aggression and complete the preparations for a war on the basis of the U.S. new military policy against the DPRK.
    The U.S. is asserting that the "exercises are aimed to help the U.S. forces and the south Korean army get familiar with the procedures of cooperation in case of emergency on the Korean Peninsula."
    What they called "emergency on the Korean Peninsula" means the second Korean war.
    The exercises simulate an actual war.
    During the past military exercises, too, the U.S. and south Korean warmongers conducted different forms of military drills from "exercises of commanding staff" for a preemptive attack on the DPRK to "landing operations," "naval offensive operations," "surprise air strike exercises," "river-crossing operations" and even "biological and chemical warfare drills" with weapons of mass destruction under the simulated conditions of an actual war.
    Its alleged annual military exercises show that the U.S. is steadily increasing, training and perfecting its capability to wage an actual war against the north according to its operation plan for invasion of the north.
    All the facts clearly prove that the joint military exercises are a dangerous preliminary war, a nuclear test war for surprise invasion of the north.
    The U.S. can never evade the responsibility for aggravating tension and harassing peace in the Korean Peninsula.

2nd International Martial Arts Games Close

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The 2nd International Martial Arts Games that opened with splendor amid the great expectation and concern of the Korean people and the world martial arts practitioners were closed with due ceremony at the Taekwon-Do Hall here on Monday. Present at the ceremony were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kwak Pom Gi, vice-premier of the DPRK Cabinet, officials concerned, working people and sports fans in Pyongyang.
    Also present were Jang Ung, president of the International Taekwon-Do Federation and honorary chairman of the International Martial Arts Games Committee who is representative of the International Olympic Committee, Jong Jae Hun, chairman of the IMGC, honorary guests of the games, representatives of different international and national martial arts organizations, and other foreign guests.
    Prizes were awarded at the ceremony. Twenty gold medals were awarded to men and women Taekwon-Do players of the DPRK.
    The DPRK received four cups by coming first in the total points each of Taekwon-Do, Karate, Wushu, and Korean wrestling games. Thailand, Russia and Iran placed first respectively in the Muaythai, Pankration and Kick-Boxing games to win cups.
    Meanwhile, cups went to the DPRK team which won the Taekwon-Do events (men and women) and the Karate events (men and women), and Chinese and Iranian teams, winners of the Wushu events (men) and (women).
    Cups also were awarded to players of different countries for their display of high technique in different events of the games.
    Kwak Pom Gi said in a congratulatory speech that the current martial arts games were a grand meeting which demonstrated the common desire and will of martial arts practitioners the world over to contribute to building an independent and peaceful, new world with their noble spirit and high technique of martial arts.
    Mohammad Ghasem Manouchehri, president of the World Federation of Kick-Boxing, said in a speech that in the games all players consolidated friendship and solidarity with each other, thus greatly contributing to the development of the martial arts.
    The martial arts practitioners should further strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity deepened in the current games and make a great contribution to the sacred cause of building an independent and peaceful, new world, he added.
    A letter to leader Kim Jong Il from the participants of the 2nd IMG was adopted at the closing ceremony.

Russian Figure Supports Call of Swiss Organization

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- N. I. Pereslavchev, secretary general of the Russian Maritime Territorial Association for Friendship with the DPRK, made public a statement in support of the call of the Swiss Preparatory Committee for the Commemoration of the Day of the Sun (birthday of President Kim Il Sung) and February 16 (birthday of Kim Jong Il) for grandly commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16 in 2007 as a common holiday of progressive humankind. He declared that his association would extend support and solidarity to the Korean people in their struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and positively cooperate with the DPRK in developing the bilateral relations in all fields in the future, too.
    Expressing full support to the joint call of the Swiss body for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16 in 2007 as a common holiday of progressive humankind in grand style and visiting Kim Jong Il's old home in the secret camp of Mt. Paektu, he underscored the need to include colorful events in the association's program for 2007 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and February 16.

"Ulji Focus Lens" Joint Military Exercises Flailed in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly issued a statement titled "We Denounce 'Ulji Focus Lens' War Exercises, Declaration of a War for Preemptive Attack on North" on Aug. 24. The statement denounced the joint military exercises as maneuvers including all aspects of the exercises staged by the U.S. recently for a preemptive attack on the north in the vicinity of the Korean Peninsula and moves for a war of aggression to put into motion the comprehensive commanding system for the start of an actual war.
    The reality urgently requires the south and the north to closely unite as one under the banner of defending peace from the U.S. and war and decisively frustrate the U.S. war moves through a nationwide struggle, the statement noted.
    The statement called on the youths and students to become vanguard in the struggle to foil the war moves of the anti-reunification forces at home and abroad and urged the U.S. and the south Korean authorities to immediately halt their joint military exercises.

Candle-light Cultural Event Held in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The All-people Measure Committee for Checking the Expansion of the U.S. Military Base in Phyongthaek reportedly held a candle-light cultural event in front of the building of the "Ministry of National Defense" in Seoul on Aug. 25 in protest against the moves of the south Korean military authorities to forcibly remove the dwelling houses in the area of Phyongthaek. Speakers at the event said that the military authorities are stepping up preparations to demolish the dwelling houses in Taechu-ri and Todu-ri in Phaengsong Town and forcibly separate residents from participants in the struggle for checking the expansion of the military base.
    The candles held up in memory of the two girl students numbered hundreds of thousands, they said, declaring that on this basis they would wage a stauncher struggle against the expansion of the U.S. military base.
    An activist of an international body made a solidarity speech at the event.
    He said he would join in the struggle to settle the issue of Phyongthaek at an early date.

DPRK Women's Football Team Qualified for Semi-Finals

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- Quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Championships between the DPRK and French women's football teams took place in St. Petersburg on Aug. 27. The DPRK team came first in Group C by scoring ten goals in the group league matches with Germany, Switzerland and Mexico without losing even a single point and was qualified for quarter-finals. It defeated the French team that had been selected from Group D 2:1 to be qualified for semi-finals.
    The first half of the game was scoreless.
    Kim Chun Hui passed the ball on to Kim Kyong Hwa who kicked it into the opponent's goal mouth from the area 30 m from it, scoring the first goal in the 30th second of the second half. But the French rival succeeded in scoring a goal in the 18th minute of the second half, thus tying the score 1:1.
    The Korean team's second goal came in around 44th minute of the second half when Kim Song Hui kicked the ball from the right corner before Hong Myong Gum headed it into the opponent's net. It thus beat the French team 2:1.
    The DPRK team is set to play a semi-final game with the strong Brazilian team on Aug. 31.

Military Collusion between U.S. and Japan under Fire

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- Japan requested cooperation from the U.S. in the earlier deployment of the missile defence system (MD) at an examiner-level consultation between foreign and defence authorities of the U.S. and Japan held in Washington on August 7 and 8. Japan decided to allow the deployment of nuclear-powered carrier "George Washington" in the Yokosuka naval base. According to the agreement of the U.S. and Japanese authorities, the deployment of the latest Aegis missile cruiser "Shiloh" in the naval base had already been decided.
    Minju Joson Tuesday says in a signed commentary carried in this regard:
    The U.S. and Japan are amassing means for preemptive attack in Japan and other parts of Northeast Asia, raising a hue and cry over "military threat" from someone. This is a serious development as it is rendering the situation in the region extremely tense.
    Japan is zealously toeing the U.S. policy at a time when the latter is stretching its tentacles to the Asia-Pacific region to dominate it in a bid to make signal progress in executing Tokyo's old policy for militaristic overseas aggression.
    Of late Japan has directed special attention to the establishment of the MD and the revision of its "Pacifist Constitution".
    By introducing the MD with the political and military backing of the U.S. the Japanese reactionaries seek to provide a military guarantee for preemptive assaults on other countries and round off the capability to mount a preemptive attack upon the DPRK as early as possible among other things.
    It is their aim to launch wars of overseas aggression in real earnest with regular aggression forces by replacing the "Pacifist Constitution" by a war constitution.
    This clearly indicates that everything Japan is doing is aimed at building a militaristic state for overseas aggression.
    The reactionaries of Japan would be well advised to immediately stop getting on the nerves of its neighboring countries.

U.S. Ambition to Rule World by Strength Denounced

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The United States which already keeps 3 warships capable of intercepting missiles constantly deployed in the Pacific plans to double their number by the end of this year. Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Tuesday says:
    The scheme of the U.S. war-thirsty quarters to deploy dense MD networks in the U.S. mainland, Japan and the Pacific reveals their wild ambition to rule the world by strength.
    The U.S. imperialists claim that their moves to build a MD system are designed to cope with somebody's "threat." But it is a shameless act reminding us of a thief crying "Stop thief!"
    No country in the world threatens the U.S. with missiles. If there is a threat, it is a threat posed by the U.S. to other countries. It is none other than the U.S. that has defined the preemptive nuclear and missile strikes as the hard core of its military strategy and it is again the U.S. which actually makes missile attacks on other countries. Yet the U.S. warlike forces are working round the clock to establish an MD system, raising terrific outcries over somebody's "threat" to misrepresent truth. What they seek in this is a dangerous purpose to contain other countries by strength and establish an order of global domination. The U.S. advertisement that its scheme to deploy an MD system is intended to confront somebody's "threat" is a ruse to justify its drive for global domination.
    It is an invariable ambition of the U.S. imperialists to dominate the world by strength. The U.S. MD scheme is a grave criminal act threatening and wrecking peace and security of the world and bringing a renewed arms race. The U.S. would be well advised to abandon its ambition to rule the world by strength and drop its scheme to build an MD system.

New Process Installed at Kangso Mineral Water Processing Factory

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- A new process has been built at the Kangso Mineral Water Processing Factory. Its commissioning ceremony took place on Monday. Present at the ceremony were Vice-Chairman of the National Economic Cooperation Federation Kim Chun Gun, officials concerned and officials and employees of the factory.
    Also on hand were members of a delegation of the Dae Dong Trading Co., Ltd. of south Korea led by its President Ri Tae Sik.
    Speeches were made there. Then, the participants went round the newly installed process, being briefed on it.

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 46th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Cuba. Over the past 46 years since the establishment of these ties the two peoples have steadily boosted the friendly ties, closely supporting each other in the struggle to frustrate the desperate moves of the U.S. imperialists, the common enemy, against socialism and achieve their common objectives, the article notes, and goes on:

Majon Seabeach Resort

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The Majon Seabeach Resort in Hamhung, South Hamgyong Province, is a famous scenic spot of the country. It has various forms of rest home buildings, cultural amusement and welfare service facilities.
    On holidays and Sundays, more than 50,000 working people from all walks of life and students enjoy sea bathing there on a daily average.

    Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The 6th meeting of the DPRK- Vietnam Inter-Governmental Committee for Economic and Scientific and Technological Cooperation was held in Pyongyang on August 29. ATCC comenta las maniobras militares "Ulji Focus Lens"

    Pyongyang, 29 de agosto (ATCC) -- En estos tiempos, Estados Unidos y el Sur de Corea desarrollan de modo frenetico el simulacro militar "Ulji Focus Lens" contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea. Estas maniobras de gran dimension iniciadas en un clima de mayor tension en lo politico y militar devienen un preludio de la segunda guerra coreana a desatarse segun la estrategia de ataque preventivo nuclear de EE.UU.
    Hoy, debido a las maniobras de EE.UU. para aplastar a la RPDC, la confrontacion entre ambos paises llega a su peor fase. Por lo tanto, es un problema mas importante aliviar la tension y asegurar la paz en la Peninsula Coreana y la region.
    Bajo esta situacion tan critica, EE.UU. comenzo el simulacro en cuestion irritando a la RPDC al atribuirle el caracter "anual".
    Esto demuestra claramente que el imperio no tiene ni la menor voluntad de acabar con el enfrentamiento con Corea.
    "Ulji Focus Lens", que tiene su origen en el aventurero intento de EE.UU. de llevar la confrontacion con Corea a la guerra, constituye una amenaza militar y grave acto belico contra esta.
    En estos dias, bajo el pretexto de la "flexibilidad estrategica", acelera el aumento armamentista y el "reemplazamiento" de sus tropas ocupantes del Sur de Corea y renovo el plan operacional ya elaborado para agredir al Norte de Corea basandose en su estrategia de ataque preventivo.
    Por esta razon, el simulacro en cuestion es una guerra preliminar para completar el sistema de mando y operacional de las fuerzas agresoras y ultimar los preparativos belicos basandose en la nueva politica militar contra la RPDC.
    EE.UU. dice que "Ulji Focus Lens" sirve para "ejercitar el procedimiento de cooperacion de las tropas norteamericanas y el ejercito surcoreano en tiempo de emergencia de la Peninsula Coreana", que significan precisamente la segunda guerra coreana.
    Un ejercicio militar supone una guerra de verdad.
    En las anteriores ediciones, los belicistas yanquis y surcoreanos desarrollaron en un clima de guerra real el "ejercicio de oficiales de mando" para asestar el primer ataque a la RPDC, las "operaciones de desembarco", y de "ataque naval", "ejercicios de asalto aereo" y "operacion de cruce del rio" bajo la participacion de una gran cantidad de fuerzas terrestres, maritimas y aereas y hasta el ejercicio de "guerra bioquimica" con la movilizacion de armas de exterminio masivo.
    La anualidad de estos entrenamientos insinua que el imperio incrementa, ejercita y perfecciona cada ano mas su capacidad belica para agredir al Norte de Corea segun el plan trazado para el particular.
    Todos los hechos demuestran que "Ulji Focus Lens" es una guerra preliminar y de ensayo nuclear para lanzar una invasion sorpresiva contra la RPDC.
    EE.UU. no podra eludir jamas la responsabilidad por la agravacion de la tension y la destruccion de la paz en la Peninsula Coreana.

Rodong Sinmun denuncia ambicion de EE.UU. de dominar el mundo

    Pyongyang, 29 de agosto (ATCC) -- El intento de las fuerzas belicistas de Estados Unidos de hacer mas compacto el Sistema Antimisiles en el territorio estadounidense, Japon y el Mar Pacifico es una muestra de su ambicion de dominar el mundo con las fuerzas armadas. @Revela el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual publicado este martes en relacion con las pretensiones de EE.UU. de duplicar hasta el final del ano en curso el numero de buques capaces de interceptar los misiles -actualmente 3-, que tiene emplazados permanentemente en el Mar Pacifico.
    En un gesto sumamente descarado, EE.UU. insiste en que sus maniobras encaminadas a implantar el SA son para hacer frente a la supuesta "amenaza" de alguien, precisa el comentarista y prosigue:
    Pero, hoy dia ningun pais de este mundo amenaza con misiles al imperio.
    Al contrario, los imperialistas norteamericanos son precisamente los que fijaron como lo clave de su estrategia militar el golpe preventivo nuclear y de misiles y atacan a otros paises con estos armamentos.
    Sin embargo, al perseguir un peligroso objetivo de doblegar a otros paises con las fuerzas armadas e implantar su orden de dominio mundial, las fuerzas belicistas de EE.UU. maniobran enloquecidamente para establecer el SA distorsionando la verdad con el pregon de la "amenaza" de algun pais.
    Es una ambicion invariable de EE.UU. dominar el mundo por via militar.
    En ese sentido, las tentativas de EE.UU. para el SA resultan un grave acto criminal que amenaza y perturba la paz y seguridad del mundo y produce una nueva carrera armamentista.
    EE.UU. tiene que abstenerse de ellas al liberarse de su ambicion de controlar el mundo.

Minju Joson rechaza la connivencia militar de EE.UU. y Japon

    Pyongyang, 29 de agosto (ATCC) -- En una reunion consultiva a nivel de examinador entre las autoridades de relaciones exteriores y de defensa de Estados Unidos y Japon, celebrada los dias 7 y 8 en Washington, este ultimo pidio al primero una supuesta cooperacion para la implantacion anticipada del Sistema Antimisiles. @Asi comienza el periodico Minju Joson en un comentario individual del dia 29 y continua:
    @Tambien, decidio dar permiso a la ubicacion del portaviones norteamericano "George Washington" en la base de Yokosuka.
    @Ademas, las autoridades de ambas partes acordaron desplegar en la misma localidad de Japon el ultramoderno crucero de misiles tipo Aegis "Shiloh".
    Estos dos paises cuestionan la "amenaza militar" de alguien para justificar la introduccion de un gran numero de medios de ataque preventivo en Japon y otros lugares de la region del Nordeste Asiatico. Este acontecimiento tan peligroso agrava extremadamente la situacion regional.
    Al adherirse activamente a EE.UU. aprovechando que este extiende sus garras dominacionistas en la region de Asia y Pacifico, Japon se propone lograr un progreso trascendental en la realizacion de su politica militarista de agresion a otros paises que perseguia desde hace mucho tiempo.
    En los ultimos tiempos, el pais-isla presta mucha atencion al establecimiento del Sistema Antimisiles y a las maniobras de enmienda peor de la "Constitucion Pacifista".
    Los reaccionarios japoneses tratan de implantar ese sistema bajo el apoyo politico y militar de EE.UU. con el proposito de preparar la garantia militar del primer golpe y perfeccionar lo mas pronto posible la capacidad de ataque preventivo contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    Ademas, intenta convertir la "Constitucion Pacifista" en una de belicismo para desatar activamente guerras de agresion a ultramar con las fuerzas armadas regulares.
    Esto demuestra fehacientemente que todas las acciones de Japon se encaminan a la construccion de un Estado militarista para agredir a ultramar.
    Los reaccionarios japoneses deben abandonar de inmediato sus actos de irritar a los paises vecinos.
