Rodong Sinmun Calls for Smashing U.S. Imperialists' Moves for War

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- In order to prevent a war and defend peace on the Korean Peninsula, it is imperative to check and frustrate the U.S. moves for a war of aggression, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article. It goes on:
    It is an urgent and important task of the nation to prevent an impending war and defend peace of the country today when the Korean nation is exposed to the threat of military aggression by the foreign forces.
    Any member of the nation cannot remain an onlooker to the present grave situation in which the U.S. imperialists are getting frantic in their moves to reduce Korea to wasteland and inflict horrible nuclear holocaust upon all the Koreans.
    All the Koreans should turn out as one in the nationwide movement for peace against war in defence of the destiny of the nation.
    They should further strengthen the patriotic movement for peace against war on the basis of their achievements and experience so as to achieve a decisive success.
    They should smash the new war provocation moves of the U.S. imperialists with their concerted efforts.
    Whether to oppose the U.S. moves for a war or not is a touchstone distinguishing patriotism from treachery. It is imperative to resolutely oppose and reject the U.S. imperialists' frantic arms buildup and war exercises against the DPRK. A sledge hammer should be dealt to the treacherous acts of joining the foreign forces in their moves for a war against the north.
    It is necessary to wage a more dynamic struggle to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea and dismantle the U.S. military bases.
    The U.S. forces in south Korea are the root cause of war and the U.S. military bases are a springboard, a forward base for invading the DPRK. The danger of war cannot be removed from the Korean Peninsula and the Koreans cannot live in peace even a moment as long as the U.S. forces and military bases remain in south Korea. The south Korean people should keep the flame of the struggle for withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea flaring up like an active volcano and develop the struggle to check the expansion of the U.S. military base into the struggle to dismantle it.

Peace Must Be Won by Struggle: Rodong Sinmun

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- It is a common demand of humankind and a pressing task of the times to ensure peace and the progressives should turn the 21st century into a century in which the independent demand and desire for peace of the popular masses would have been realized comprehensively, not a century in which the imperialist forces of aggression ride high and mighty, says Rodong Sinmun in a by-lined article Thursday. It goes on:
    Peace is the universal idea of humankind because it embodies the intrinsic demand of humankind and it is a highly important task of humankind to avert aggression and war and defend peace in the present era.
    The world peace-loving people are the driving force in the struggle to defend peace.
    Peace is not presented by anyone nor is guaranteed spontaneously. Still less do the imperialists present or can they present peace in view of their aggressive nature. Peace can be guaranteed only when the peoples of all the countries which treasure independence and love peace turn out as one in a relentless fight against the aggression and war provocation moves of imperialists.
    Unity is what brings victory to the struggle for peace against war. It is a truth of history and a bloody lesson drawn by the people that dismemberment means defeat and unity means victory in the struggle against imperialism.
    Differences in idea, ideology and systems cannot be a problem in achieving the unity of the world peace-loving forces; All the countries and peoples of the world interested in peace must be involved in the struggle to defend peace.
    The anti-war struggle is the key to world peace at the present juncture and its main target is the United States. The U.S. imperialists are the chieftain of aggression and war and the very wrecker of peace in the 21st century. A war can be prevented and world peace and security be guaranteed only when all the countries and peoples worldwide desirous of independence and peace fight determinedly against the aggression and war moves of the U.S. imperialists.
    The peoples of all countries worldwide should lift up louder voices against war and the U.S. and bind it hand and foot so that it could not cause a war as it likes.
    A peaceful climate can be created and the human cause of peace be accomplished earlier when blows are dealt to the aggression and war moves of the U.S. imperialists everywhere in the world and they are dismembered.
    The Korean people will together with the world progressives resolutely fight against the aggression and war moves of the imperialist forces, holding aloft the banner of peace, and thus make a sizable contribution to the human cause of peace.

Anti-National Crime of S. Korean Judicial Authorities under Fire

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- Some days ago the south Korean judicial authorities detained the persons who manufactured and disseminated CDs on the Juche idea and posted an article praising the Songun policy on the Internet homepage, on the charge of violating the fascist "National Security Law." A spokesman for the National Reconciliation Council made public a statement Thursday in denunciation of their fascist outrage.
    The statement said:
    It is a reckless act going against the times to openly suppress the patriotic people and democratic figures by dint of the worn-out NSL forsaken by the people in the June 15 era when the Koreans are opening the door of independent reunification by their concerted efforts.
    "Pro-north" and "praise" mouthed by the south Korean judicial authorities are the pronouns of fascism and plots which the fascist dictators used to justify their anti-national, anti-reunification crimes and keep their fascist dictatorial "regimes" during the era of confrontation.
    It is, indeed, a treachery and anti-national criminal act of those who have no national soul and blood to block advocating the most advanced and patriotic Juche idea and the Songun policy and suppress their disseminators, while admitting the mixed ideas and culture of foreign forces.
    The south Korean judicial authorities should immediately stop the anti-national, anti-reunification acts, abolish the NSL as demanded by the times and the nation and unconditionally release all the people arrested on the charge of violating the evil law.

S. Korean Judicial Authorities' Suppression of Patriotic Figures Assailed

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a statement Thursday accusing the south Korean judicial authorities of taking such fascist action as arresting Choe Hui Jong, permanent researcher of the Institute for Civil Rights Studies of South Korea, and one other person recently. The authorities invoked the fascist "National Security Law" against them for the mere reason that they produced and distributed CDs describing the Juche idea and posted an article supporting the Songun politics on its Internet homepage. Terming this action a brutal crackdown intended to dampen the daily growing desire for independent reunification and poison the atmosphere of supporting the Songun politics now being rapidly disseminated in south Korea, the statement continued:
    The south Korean judicial authorities cracked down on absurd charges those who introduced the Juche idea and the Songun politics which are recognized by the world and supported by all the Koreans while antagonizing the fellow countrymen by invoking the "NSL", a leftover of the old era of confrontation. This cannot but be a treacherous act of swimming against the trend of the times and history and the desire of the nation.
    It is foolish for the authorities to try to dampen the people's desire and stem the trend of the times.
    Justice and truth and the desire of the times can never be checked at the point of bayonet.
    The south Korean judicial authorities had better stop such fascist suppression as violating the elementary democratic rights and freedom of people and inciting north-south confrontation, repeal the NSL, fascist law against reunification, and immediately set free those arrested.

U.S. Urged to Create Atmosphere for Resumption of Six-Party Talks

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration of south Korea reportedly made public a commentary on Sept. 21 to hold that the United States should drop its hostile policy toward the DPRK and create an atmosphere for resumption of the six-party talks. The U.S. has staged nuclear war exercises against the north one after another, ignoring the Sept. 19 joint statement while intensifying its moves to stifle the north through sanctions and others, the commentary said, stressing this is a violation of the spirit of the joint statement and the basic reason why the six-party talks have come to a standstill.
    Only when the U.S. makes efforts for concrete and practical implementation of the joint statement can the talks be resumed and peace of the Korean Peninsula kept, it noted.
    It stressed that the U.S. should show its responsible stance for the implementation of the joint statement, stop sanctions upon the north at present and provide an atmosphere for the resumption of the talks.

Important Days in DPRK Observed in Democratic Congo

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- A reading session, a 10-day Korean film show, seminar and special lecture took place in Kinshasa from Sept. 18 to 20 on the occasion of the 61st founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU). On display in the venues of the functions were photos showing the glorious revolutionary histories of the peerlessly great persons and the might of the WPK.
    Otete Gaston Mboyo, chairman of the National Committee of the Genuine Lumumbist Patriotic Party of Democratic Congo, at a reading session of the book "Short Biography of Comrade Kim Il Sung" said that the foundation of the WPK made it possible for the Korean people to successfully carve out their destiny under the guidance of Kim Il Sung's party. He stressed the need to earnestly learn from the experience the WPK gained while performing undying exploits on behalf of the era and the revolution, the country and the people.
    Jean Baptiste Nkoy, general secretary of the People's Rally for Socialism of Democratic Congo, in a speech at an opening ceremony of the 10-day Korean film show said that President Kim Il Sung formed the DIU, starting the revolutionary party building in the era of Juche. The President worked hard to victoriously lead the cause of Juche till the last moments of his life by strengthening the party and enhancing its role, he added.
    Kanga Ngerien Jerom, chairman of the Group for the Study of Kim Jong Il Juche Idea of Democratic Congo, in a speech said that the Juche idea is the guiding idea of the WPK and it fully applied an independent line to the revolution and construction, turning Korea into a socialist country, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence.
    After the functions were over their participants watched Korean films including "For the Liberation of the Country" and "Grand Gymnastic and Artistic Performance 'Invincible Workers' Party of Korea' Celebrating the 55th Founding Anniversary of the WPK."

Third Public Presentation and Exhibition of Nano Science and Technology Held

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The Third Public Presentation and Exhibition of Nano Science and Technology was held at Kim Chaek University of Technology on Sept. 26 and 27. Present at the public presentation and exhibition sponsored by the Central Committee of the Korean General Federation of Science and Technology were scientists, technicians, teachers and researchers of scientific and educational organs.
    The public presentation involved panel discussions on nano materials and property of matter, electronics and machines and nano biology, medicine and agriculture.
    Introduced at the public presentation were the achievements and experience gained in researches and the development of nano materials and measuring technology such as lubricant and sterilizer developed through the application of nano technology, carbon-nano tube, researches into the manufacture and application of nano inorganic and organic materials, researches into some characteristics of carbon-nano materials and manufacture of dispersed nano particle liquid.
    On display at the exhibition were nano products and nano equipment and devices for researches now in use in different fields of national economy such as nano heat-insulating materials, nano sterilized toothbrush and nano ion separation membrane.

9th National Exhibition of Inventions and New Technology Closes

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The 9th national exhibition of inventions and new technology which opened on Sept. 6 closed with due ceremony on Wednesday. On display there were more than 1,500 pieces of materials showcasing the successes made by scientists, technicians, officials and working people across the country in invention and the development of new technology.
    The exhibition provided a good opportunity of disseminating and generalizing valuable scientific and technological achievements and conducting technological exchange and sale of new intellectual products.
    At the closing ceremony gold medals were awarded to more than 70 people including Jong Hwan, researcher at an institute of the Academy of Agricultural Science who bred a new high-yielding crop seed, and Kim Pong Ho, workshop chief of the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, and Ri Sung Guk, manager of the Soy and Been Paste Factory in Chongnam District of South Phyongan Province, who succeeded in the researches into a new type hydraulic turbine and a new type steam boiler which are of practical significance in the national economy.
    The prize for the first place went to the Ministry of Education and one more unit.
    Pyon Yong Rip, president of the State Academy of Sciences, made a closing address.
    Present at the closing ceremony were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier of the Cabinet, and Cabinet members, officials of ministries and national institutions and scientists, technicians and working people.

September 23 Rally for Action against War Held in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The south Korean People's Movement for Opposing Troop Dispatch to Iraq reportedly held a rally "anti-war action for complete withdrawal of the Jaitun unit within the year" (September 23 anti-war action) in the plaza of Seoul Railway Station on Sept. 23. At the rally speakers said that the demand for withdrawal of troops is growing stronger in those countries that dispatched military forces to Iraq, but the "government" set out to prepare for extending again the period of dispatching troops to Iraq and has planned to send troops even to Lebanon.
    It can not but be a crime that south Korean troops have joined the U.S. in the war of aggression in which many Iraqis have lost their lives, the speakers noted, calling on all the people to join in opposing the troop dispatch and the expansion of the U.S. military base.
    A resolution read out at the rally demanded that the "government" and the "National Assembly" withdraw the Jaitun unit from Iraq within this year and retract the plan for dispatching troops to Lebanon at once.
    After the rally the participants made a demonstration march.
    Meanwhile, a similar rally took place in Pusan.

Kim Yong Nam Receives Credentials from Kuwaiti Ambassador

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, was presented with credentials by Faisal Rashed Al-Ghais, Kuwaiti ambassador to the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Thursday. Present there were Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hyong Jun and Kuwaiti embassy officials.
    After receiving the credentials Kim Yong Nam had a conversation with the ambassador.

Book "Friend of Lovers of Cultural Legacies" Wins Popularity

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean Cultural Preservation Agency has brought out "Friend of Lovers of Cultural Legacies". The book consists of three parts -- the major chronological chart of on-the-spot guidance to cultural preservation field given by the three generals of Mt. Paektu, important historical relics and remains and the method for preserving and managing cultural legacies -- and an appendix.
    The first part impressively illustrates the energetic guidance given by the three generals of Mt. Paektu to restore to the original state and preserve and manage the historical relics and remains of the nation on the principle of historicism and in accordance with the demand of the times.
    The book, in the second part, introduces historical relics and remains, divided into the primitive age, ancient times and mediaeval age. The section dealing with historical relics compiles detailed data on castles, old buildings, temples, stone buildings (towers, monuments, lamps and bridges) and tombs and the other section dealing with major historical remains gives explanations about famous paintings, sculptures, craftworks, weapons, scientific and technical inventions, musical instruments and folklore.
    The third part of the book details method of preserving and managing them in accordance with their structures and materials, that of preserving castles and stone buildings, that of managing ordinary old tombs and inside and outside of mural tombs and that of protecting environment.
    Given in the appendix are a chronological table of the Korean history, major historical relics according to areas, changes of provinces, local administrative units, and tables of weights and measures.
    The book is widely read among ordinary people as well as lovers of cultural legacies.

Protocol for 2007 Sports Exchange between DPRK and China Signed

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- A protocol for sports exchange for 2007 between the DPRK Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission and the General Administration of Sports of China was signed here Thursday. Present at the signing ceremony from the DPRK side were Kim Jang San, vice-chairman of the commission, and officials concerned and from the Chinese side members of the delegation of the general administration headed by its Vice-Minister Xiao Tian and Zhang Yongwen, cultural councilor of the Chinese embassy here.
    The protocol was signed by Kim Jang San and Xiao Tian.

Terrorism against Chongryon Flailed

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The Japanese ultra right reactionaries on Sept. 16 sent a postal package carrying a letter of blackmail and a cut human finger to the chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). A Rodong Sinmun analyst Thursday brands this as an indication of the lengths where the Japanese right-wing reactionaries have gone in their malice and fascist frenzy towards the DPRK and Chongryon.
    Reviewing terrorism and blackmail against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan which are getting more desperate in Japan these days, the analyst notes that those who have driven things to this extent are the Japanese authorities who are pursuing anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon hostile acts while steering their policy along the conservative rightist course and the right-wing conservative media acting their trumpeters.
    It is their political mode to suppress Koreans in Japan, putting them on the altar of the solution of Japan's internal problems and political crisis, the analyst notes, and goes on:
    They seek to create a social climate for staging a comeback to Korea and hasten the conversion of Japan into a military power and revival of militarism by fostering bitterest hatred, ostracism and hostile feelings against the DPRK, Chongryon and Koreans in Japan in the whole society. Now the entire Korean nation is whipped into a towering rage by their desperate acts to incite hostile feelings and terrorism and blackmail against the DPRK and Chongryon for the attainment of their foul political and aggressive purposes. The Japanese reactionaries should behave with discretion, mindful that there is a limit to the patience of the Korean people.
    The Japanese authorities should make perfectly clear the truth behind all the cases of terrorism and blackmail against Chongryon perpetrated with malice recently including the latest one and sternly punish the criminals and take responsible measures to prevent the recurrence of such cases. And they should immediately retract the hostile policy towards the DPRK and Chongryon which is the root cause of anti-Chongryon crimes. Este incidente siniestro demuestra a las claras a que grado llegan la hostilidad y la locura fascista de los reaccionarios derechistas japoneses contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y la Chongryon.

    En Japon se cometen cada dia mas el terror y la amenaza contra la Chongryon y los coreanos residentes en ese pais isleno, lo cual se debe a las autoridades japonesas, que toman por su politica el conservadurismo y la derechizacion y se aferran a las maniobras hostiles a la RPDC y la Chongryon, y a los medios de prensa derechistas que juegan un rol de trompetero de dichas autoridades.
    Ellos reprimen a los coreanos residentes en su pais tomandolos como victimas para solucionar el problema interno y la crisis politica. Intentan inculcar en toda la sociedad la idea de odio y rechazo y la conciencia hostil a la RPDC, la Chongryon y los coreanos residentes en su pais para crear un ambiente social favorable a nueva agresion a Corea y acelerar la conversion de su pais en una potencia militar y la rehabilitacion del militarismo. Tales actos violentos de los reaccionarios japoneses provocan una gran indignacion de toda la nacion coreana. Los reaccionarios japoneses deben darse clara cuenta de que tambien la paciencia del pueblo coreano tiene el limite y actuar con prudencia.
    Las autoridades japonesas deben esclarecer estrictamente los verdaderos aspectos de todos los casos de intimidacion anti-Chongryon, castigar severamente a los culpables y tomar las medidas responsables para la prevencion de otros incidentes semejantes. III Forum y Exhibicion de Ciencia y Tecnica de Nano

    Pyongyang, 28 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El III Forum y Exhibicion de Ciencia y Tecnica de Nano tuvieron lugar los dias 26 y 27 en la Universidad Politecnica Kim Chaek bajo el auspicio del Comite Central de la Federacion General de Ciencias y Tecnica de Corea. @En la ocasion participaron los cientificos, tecnicos, profesores e investigadores de diversas instituciones cientificas y docentes.
    @El forum se efectuo dividido en la seccion de materiales de nano y su caracter fisico, electronica y maquinaria y la de biologia, medicina y agricultura de nano.
    @En la ocasion se dieron a conocer los exitos y experiencias logrados en la investigacion y desarrollo de materiales y de tecnica de medicion de nano, entre ellos, la elaboracion de lubricante, esterilizante, tubo carbonico, materiales inorganicos y organicos de nano e investigacion para su uso, el estudio sobre algunas caracteristicas de material carbonico de nano y la produccion del liquido de dispersion de granulos de nano.
    @En la exhibicion fueron expuestos el aislante termico, el cepillo esterilizante de dientes, la cortina de separacion de ion y otros articulos, instalaciones y aparatos de nano, que se emplean en varios sectores de la economia nacional.

Clausurada IX Exposicion Nacional de Invenciones y Nuevas Tecnicas

    Pyongyang, 28 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Quedo clausurada el dia 27 la IX edicion de la Exposicion Nacional de Invenciones y Nuevas Tecnicas, inaugurada el dia 6. En la ocasion se exhibieron mas de mil 500 invenciones y datos de nueva tecnica logrados por los cientificos, tecnicos, funcionarios y trabajadores de distintos lugares del pais.
    Durante la exposicion se realizaron los trabajos para divulgar y generalizar los valiosos exitos de ciencia y tecnica, el intercambio y circulacion de tecnicas sobre nuevos articulos intelectuales.
    En la ceremonia de clausura fue otorgada la medalla de oro a Jong Hwan, investigador de un instituto de la Academia de Ciencias Agricolas quien cultivo una nueva variedad graminea de alto rendimiento, Kim Pong Ho, jefe de taller del Complejo de Maquinaria Pesada de Taean quien acabo de desarrollar una turbina hidraulica de nuevo tipo y una caldera de vapor sin energia que tienen importancia en la economia nacional, Ri Sung Guk, director de la Fabrica de Pasta de Soya en Comunidad de Chongnam de la Provincia de Phyong-an del Sur y otras 70 personas.
    Ademas, el Ministerio de Educacion y otra unidad recibieron premios de primer lugar.
    Pyon Yong Rip, presidente de la Academia Estatal de Ciencias pronuncio un discurso de clausura.

Goza de popularidad "Amigo de los aficionados a las riquezas culturales"

    Pyongyang, 28 de septiembre (ATCC) -- El libro "Amigo de los aficionados a las riquezas culturales", editado por la Casa de Conservacion de Cultura de Corea, consta de apendice y de tres capitulos: Anos principales de las visitas de orientacion de los tres generales del monte Paektu (Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il y Kim Jong Suk) sobre la rama de conservacion de la cultura, Vestigios y reliquias principales y Metodos de conservacion de las reliquias culturales historicas. El primer capitulo demuestra las nobles proezas de los tres generales del monte Paektu quienes orientaron con energia la labor para restaurar y conservar en estado original los vestigios y reliquias historicos de la nacion de acuerdo con los principios historicistas y la demanda de la epoca.
    El segundo capitulo da a conocer los vestigios y reliquias por orden de las edades primitiva, antigua y medieval. La parte de vestigios redacta con datos detallados los castillos, edificios antiguos, templos, edificios de piedra (torre, lapida, farol y puente) y tumbas, y la de reliquias demuestra pinturas famosas, esculturas, articulos artesanales, armamentos, invenciones cientificas y tecnicas, instrumentos musicales, costumbres folcloricas, etc.
    El tercer capitulo indica en detalle el metodo de conservacion segun las estructuras y calidades de materiales, el de conservacion de los castillos y edificios de piedra, la conservacion y proteccion medioambiental de los interiores y contornos de las tumbas antiguas y tumbas con pinturas al fresco.
    El apendice recompila una cronologia de la historia de Corea, los vestigios principales por unidad regional, cambios de las provincias siendo unidades administrativas locales, y unidades de la medicion de longitud.
