Head of DPRK Delegation Reiterates DPRK's Stand on Denuclearization of Korea

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government maintains its consistent position to resolve the issue of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula peacefully. Choe Su Hon, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs who is leading the DPRK delegation, declared this at the plenary session of the 61st General Assembly of the United Nations on Sept. 26. Referring to the necessity and justice of the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il, he said that the Songun policy provides a sure guarantee for safeguarding the sovereignty and security of the country and ensuring peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the region, given the evermore undisguised U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.
    He went on to say:
    The DPRK's possession of powerful deterrent solely meant for self-defense is in full line with the interests of the regional countries in peace and security and peaceful environment.
    As well known to the world, the important points stipulated in the Joint Statement adopted at the Six-Party Talks on September 19, 2005 are the commitment made by the DPRK to abandon its nuclear program and the U.S. commitment to co-exist with the former in peace.
    The DPRK remains committed to implementing all the agreed provisions of the Joint Statement on an equal footing.
    However, the U.S., soon after the announcement of the Joint Statement, lost no time to impose financial sanctions upon the DPRK, a dialogue partner, eventually scrapping the already-agreed itinerary for the following rounds of the talks and creating the present impasse.
    All these facts clearly indicate that the U.S. is not in favor of both the Six-Party Talks and the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
    Turning to the issue of the expansion of permanent membership of the UN Security Council, he stated that the UN member countries should not allow under any circumstances such a country as Japan to sit on the council as it is a war criminal which invaded Asian countries and massacred innocent civilians and, worse still, has worked hard to distort its history of aggression, instead of settling it.
    The government of the DPRK will continue in the future, too, to develop the relations of friendship and cooperation with all member states that respect its sovereignty in accordance with the idea of its foreign policy: independence, peace and friendship and make a positive contribution to the efforts of the international community to achieve world peace and security and sustainable development, he concluded.

Reception Given on 57th Anniversary of PRC

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Central Committee of the Korea-China Friendship Association hosted a reception at the Chongryu Restaurant on Thursday on the occasion of the 57th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China. Present on invitation were Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming and embassy officials.
    Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, in his speech said that the foundation of the PRC was a brilliant victory achieved by the Chinese people through their long and arduous struggle under the guidance of the Communist Party of China and a historic event which brought about a radical change in the destiny of the Chinese people.
    The Chinese people are now achieving great successes in their efforts to build a comprehensively well-off society under the leadership of the CPC with respected Hu Jintao as its general secretary and the international position of China is daily being enhancing, he said, and went on:
    We are rejoiced over this and wish the Chinese people greater success in their efforts to strengthen the national power and achieve reunification of the whole country.
    It is the consistent stand of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government to develop Korea-China friendly and cooperative relations. We, together with the Chinese comrades, will make positive efforts to develop the friendly relations between the two countries in the future, too.
    Liu Xiaoming in his speech said that they, together with the Korean people, significantly celebrated the 58th birthday of the DPRK a few days ago. The Chinese people, he pointed out, are rejoiced over the great successes achieved by the Korean people in socialist construction under the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il after the foundation of the DPRK and wish the fraternal Korean people greater success in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
    The traditional China-Korea friendship was forged by the elder revolutionaries of the two countries and it is the steadfast policy of the Chinese party and government to continuously boost the Sino-Korean relations of friendship and cooperation, he added.

U.S. Sinister Aim of "Transfer of Right to Command Wartime Operations" Disclosed

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and south Korea are now discussing the issue of "transfer of the right to command the wartime operations". What the U.S. seeks through this is to accelerate the preparations for a war of aggression against the north. Minju Joson Friday observes this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
    As a matter of fact, the U.S. is amassing hardware for preemptive attacks such as Aegis craft in waters off south Korea and its vicinity under the signboard of "transfer of the right to command wartime operations." It is against this backdrop that north-targeted war maneuvers never cease there.
    The U.S. is pressurizing the south Koran authorities to stage more war exercises while accelerating its preparations for a war against the north under the above-mentioned signboard.
    The U.S. is using the "transfer of the right to command the wartime operations" as a pretext for strengthening its politico-military domination over south Korea and hurling its troops as a shock brigade and bullet-shields of the U.S. forces in the war against the north.
    Anyone in whose vein runs the blood of the Korean nation is duty-bound to see through the U.S. sinister aim to pit Koreans against themselves and demand the withdrawal of its forces from south Korea. This being a hard reality, the south Korean military authorities are busy introducing ultra-modern weapons such as Aegis craft, early-warning control plane, military spy satellite and new-type fighters, describing "the process of taking back the right to command the wartime operations" as something for "self-reliant national defence".
    @The arms build-up stepped up by the south Koran authorities under the above-said pretext is an outrageous military provocation against the army and people of the DPRK and, at the same time, a blatant mockery and insult to the south Korean people aspiring after independence and peace.
    If the south Korean authorities truly stand for "self-reliant national defence", they should stop supporting the outside forces but opt for national cooperation aimed at driving the aggressors out of south Korea and achieving independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.

U.S. Encroachment on Territorial Sovereignty of Korea under Fire

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- It is an unpardonable encroachment upon territorial sovereignty that the United States called some places of south Korea "Florida" and "Hawaii" as it pleases. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed commentary Friday.
    Recalling that the U.S. has worked hard to Americanize even geographical names of south Korea in a bid to convert it into its permanent colony, the commentary goes on:
    The south Koreans have run the whole gamut of national contempt and humiliation, while their dignity, rights and interests have been mercilessly trampled down by the shameless aggressors, occupiers, for the past more than 60 years.
    The fact proves it is not accidental that the U.S. calls south Korea its 51st state. So immeasurable is harm the U.S. did to south Korea, the crime it committed against the Korean nation.
    Never should it go unnoticed that the U.S. imperialists renamed some places of south Korea as well as localities of the northern half of Korea their own way, according to the recently disclosed fact. This clearly proves again that the U.S. has long established its Korea policy aimed to put the whole of Korea under its domination and has consistently pursued the policy of aggression against the DPRK.

    Kim Jong Il conducted energetic ideological and theoretical activities to accomplish this historic cause, regarding it as his noblest mission to give a scientific formulation of the revolutionary idea of the President, associating it with his august name.

DPRK's Holidays Observed

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Round-table talks, lecture meetings, photo exhibitions and film shows were held in the Czech Republic, South Africa, Ethiopia and Singapore from Sept. 20 to 22 on the occasion of the 61st founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU). On display at the photo exhibitions were pictures showing the undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il in party building and the might of the WPK.
    Korean films including "Brilliant History of Great Leadership" were screened at the film shows.

S. Korean Bellicose Forces' Moves to Develop Latest Type Weapon Flailed

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- We on behalf of the whole nation desirous of the country's peace and reunification bitterly denounce the south Korean bellicose forces for developing a latest type dangerous weapon in pursuance of confrontation and war between fellow countrymen to serve the U.S. in its moves for a war against the north, while taking issue with the war deterrent of the DPRK for ensuring peace and security of the Korean Peninsula. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, said this in a statement on Friday assailing their fresh arms build-up. It said: Some time ago, the south Korean military authorities announced that they completed the development of a cruise missile capable of striking major military targets in the DPRK and they are contemplating mass-producing and deploying it at the "Guided Missile Command" in one or two years to come.
    The above-said arms build-up is an intolerable provocation as it will push the inter-Korean relations to the phase of confrontation and war.
    The situation now prevailing on the Korean Peninsula is so alarming that the sovereignty and security of the nation are now seriously infringed upon by the reckless moves of the U.S. to stifle the DPRK and ignite a war against it.
    The prevailing situation requires all the Koreans to turn out in the anti-U.S., anti-war struggle for peace to defend the country's peace and the destiny of the nation under the banner of "By our nation itself."
    However, the south Korean warlike forces are hell bent on the arms buildup and war exercises against the north as active supporters and accomplices of the U.S. in its moves to stifle the north. These cannot be construed otherwise than hideous crimes against the nation as they force fellow countrymen to fall victim to the nuclear war to be ignited by the U.S.

Candlelight Rally of Koreans in Germany

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The Koreans in Germany held a candlelight rally in Berlin on Sept. 24 in support of the 4th grand peace march against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek, south Korea, according to a news report. At the rally speakers denounced the U.S. moves to expand its military base in Phyongthaek and the forcible removal of dwelling houses against human rights, asserting that the Korean nation can neither fall victim to the U.S. military strategy nor allow the Korean Peninsula to be an outpost base for a war.
    Members of German organizations for peace against war made solidarity speeches at the rally.
    They said that the U.S. is working hard to realize its military strategy for supremacy not only in the Korean Peninsula but also on a worldwide scale.
    The organizations extend support to the south Korean people in their struggle against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek and get courage from their struggle, they said.

Taephung International Investment Group Founded

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Talks took place here between the Korean Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and the delegation of the Taephung International Investment on Sept. 27. The talks resulted in the foundation of the Taephung International Investment Group involving the above-said committee and investors of different countries.
    The group will open its coordinating office in Pyongyang and undertake businesses for the inducement of investments and its realization in cooperation with interested investors and international banking organs.

Fourth National Korean Wrestling Tournament for "Grand Bull Prize" Opened

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The Fourth National Korean Wrestling Tournament for "Grand Bull Prize" was opened on Thursday at the Korean Wrestling Ground on the Rungra Island in Pyongyang amid interest of the people of the DPRK. Participating in the tournament are some 100 players selected from different areas of the country. And they will match in team and individual events.
    The ground was packed to the full with spectators in the city.
    The wrestlers from North Phyongan and Kangwon Provinces proved successful in the team event held in the morning.
    Whenever they won matches by employing special technique, the spectators gave thunderous cheers and applause to the winners.

4th National Korean Costume Exhibition Held

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The 4th National Korean Costume Exhibition was held in the Central Youth Hall in Pyongyang from September 26 to 29. Participated in the exhibition were units under ministries and national institutions including the Ministry of Light Industry, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Commerce and Korean costume shops in Pyongyang and local areas, nearly 30 in all.
    More than 800 suits of national clothes including holiday best, wedding dress, daily clothes and children's clothes were displayed there.
    It was visited every day by lots of Pyongyang citizens and Korean costume designers, cutters and needle workers from different parts of the country.
    The wedding dresses for women exhibited by the Korean Minye General Corporation caught the eyes of the visitors.
    Unlike the wedding dresses of deep color which had been exhibited in the past, the new ones were decorated with magnolia flower patterns and beads on white color ground, the traditional color of the ceremonial dresses. The color and decorations made the wedding dresses more graceful.
    The Clothing Institute under the Ministry of Light Industry participated in the exhibition with chima and jogori (Korean skirt and coat) with light and soft color which is suitable to the national emotion of the Korean people. They were highly appreciated by the visitors.
    On display there were publications and computer multimedia introducing designing and processing methods of the Korean clothes. They included "Various Women's Dresses", "Men's Dresses", "Principle of Designing and Modification" and "Children's Clothes for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter".
    Jong Kun Myong, secretary general of the Korean Costume Association, told the KCNA that the annual exhibition provides a good opportunity to improving the form and decoration of the Korean costume in a varied and beautiful way.

U.S. Branded as World's Biggest Nuclear Criminal

    Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The United States filled its mainland with nuclear weapons and, as if it were not enough, kept more than 13,000 nuclear weapons overseas. This goes to clearly prove that the U.S. is the world's biggest nuclear criminal in bringing the danger of a nuclear war to the earth, declares Rodong Sinmun in an article Friday. The author of the article says:
    According to the results of an investigation made public by the U.S. National Archives recently, the U.S. kept more than 13,000 nuclear weapons deployed in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world in the period of the Cold War in the last century and at least 7,000 of them in Europe, many of which still remain in Germany, Britain and other European countries.
    The U.S. is raising terrific outcries over "nuclear threat" from other countries, terming their nuclear activities for peaceful purposes "development of nuclear weapons." This is a broad hoax to conceal its own criminal nature and justify its attempts to dominate the world with nuclear weapons.
    The U.S. nuclear arsenals are filled to overflowing with more than 20,000 nuclear weapons of all types. They include over 5,400 intercontinental ballistic missile warheads and more than 1,750 nuclear bombs and cruise missile warheads. The U.S. Defense Department in its 2002 report on nuclear posture decided to resume researches into nuclear weapons which it had suspended for 10 years since 1992 and allocated 6.3 billion U.S. dollars to the nuclear weapons program in fiscal 2004.

    Como lo demuestra el presente caso, no es casual decir el Sur de Corea "quincuagesimo primer Estado de EE.UU". Son tremendos los crimenes de este pais americano cometidos contra el Sur de Corea y la nacion coreana.
    En particular, EE.UU. hizo llamar al estilo suyo no solo a las localidades del Sur, sino tambien a las regiones del Norte de Corea. Esto demuestra que desde el principio este imperio trazo su politica con respecto a Corea para realizar su dominio sobre toda Corea y persiguio invariablemente la politica de agresion a la parte Norte de Corea.

    @En estos dias, EE.UU., al hablar de tal "transferencia", ubica el buque Aegis y otros medios de ataque preventivo en el Sur de Corea y su periferia donde no cesan de librarse ejercicios belicos contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    El imperio acelera los preparativos de guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea detras de la cortina de la "transferencia del derecho de mando de operaciones para el tiempo de guerra", por una parte y por la otra azuza a las autoridades surcoreanas a intensificar los ejercicios belicos.
    Con tal pretexto EE.UU. intenta fortalecer el dominio politico-militar sobre el Sur de Corea y utilizar al ejercito surcoreano como brigada de choque en la guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea y como parabalas en defensa de sus efectivos.
    Todos los coreanos deben vigilar con agudeza el designio de EE.UU. de hacer pelear entre si los compatriotas, y exigir la retirada de las tropas norteamericanas. Pero, las autoridades castrenses surcoreanas hablan de que la "transferencia del derecho de mando de operaciones para el tiempo de guerra" es para la "defensa soberana" y dan acicate a la introduccion del buque Aegis, el avion AWACS, el satelite de reconocimiento militar, cazas de nuevo tipo y otras armas sofisticadas.
    Tal aumento armamentista de las autoridades surcoreanas deviene una abierta provocacion militar contra el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea y una burla e insulto a los habitantes surcoreanos que aspiran a la independencia y la paz.
    Si ellas desean de veras la "defensa soberana", no deben cooperar con las fuerzas extranjeras, sino tomar el camino de la cooperacion nacional para expulsar a los agresores y lograr la reunificacion independiente aunando las fuerzas del Sur con las del Norte.
