National Meeting Held to Mark DIU Anniversary

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- A national meeting to mark the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) by President Kim Il Sung was held at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium Monday. Upon embarking on the path of revolutionary struggle shouldering upon himself the destiny of the country and the nation in his early years, the President drew a serious lesson from the preceding nationalistic movements and the early communist movement and made a bold decision to take a path of independent development of the revolution, completely different from those, and formed the DIU with like-minded members of the young vanguard representing the new generation on that basis on Oct. 17, Juche 15 (1926).
    Kim Yong Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, in a report said that the formation of the DIU marked a starting point in building a revolutionary party of a new type in Korea and provided roots of the glorious WPK.
    Referring to the fact that the revolutionary cause of Juche that started with the birth of the DIU thanks to the outstanding idea of the President and his wise guidance has dynamically advanced along the path of independence, Songun and unity over the past 80 years, the reporter continued:
    The ever-victorious history of the Korean revolution represents the most brilliant history of outstanding revolutionary activities of the President as he had consistently embodied the noble idea of the DIU with unshakable revolutionary faith and will, taking independence, Songun and unity as the lifeline of the revolution.
    The revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by the President has been successfully carried forward by the party at a new higher stage as it has faithfully inherited the tradition of the DIU under the outstanding and tested leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    Kim Jong Il has pursued the Songun politics, successfully carrying forward the Songun idea and line of Juche which trace their origin to the DIU and whose validity and vitality have been proven throughout the Korean revolution. This served as a basic source of strength which made it possible for the Korean revolution to achieve miraculous victories despite manifold difficulties generation after generation.
    The Korean people, immensely blessed with the great leaders, have consistently preserved the Juche character of the revolution despite the complicated history and made triumphant advances in the national liberation, the class emancipation and in the whole historic course of socialist construction with the might of the single-minded unity of the revolutionary ranks around the party and the leader and by force of arms. This is a main review of the 80 year-long history of the Korean revolution that emerged ever-victorious under the banner of the DIU.
    The party, army and people of the DPRK will dynamically accelerate the historic march to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche and successfully realize the President's desire for a rich and powerful country true to Kim Jong Il's outstanding idea and leadership, full of conviction of sure victory and revolutionary optimism.
    The security of our socialist country is seriously threatened by the daily-growing threat of a nuclear war from the U.S. and its vicious moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK. This situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula requires the army and people of the DPRK to wage a dynamic struggle along the immutable orbit of Songun revolution under the uplifted banner of independence against imperialism, the banner of the DIU.
    The DPRK took a fresh countermeasure to cope with the threat of a nuclear war by the enemies and their moves of sanctions and pressure in view of the situation where the U.S. moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK have reached the worst phase, after going beyond the limit of tolerance.
    A recent successful underground nuclear test in the DPRK with its indigenous wisdom and technology 100 percent will contribute to preserving peace and stability on the peninsula and its vicinity as it marked a historic event that greatly encouraged and pleased the army and people of the DPRK who have desired to have powerful self-reliant national defence capacity.
    They will steadily increase the politico-military might of Juche under the banner of Songun which they have held high in the whole course of the Korean revolution, guided by the idea of the DIU and firmly defend their ideology and system and the cause of justice and thus certainly achieve a final victory in the historic stand-off with the U.S.
    The meeting was attended by senior party, army and state cadres, chairpersons of the friendly parties, Cabinet members, officials of the party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, KPA servicepersons, officials of scientific, educational, cultural, art, public health and media organizations and working people in Pyongyang.

DIU, Origin of Korean Revolution

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung organized the Down-With-Imperialism Union (DIU) in Huadian, China on October 17, Juche 15 (1926), which marked the new starting point, origin of the Korean revolution. The main trends of the revolutionary movements in Korea at that time were the socialist revolution according to the established theories and bourgeois nationalist movement.
    The "socialist revolutionaries" infected with flunkeyism and dogmatism tried to apply the preceding theories to the revolutionary struggle without putting the actual conditions of Korea into consideration. Engrossed in expanding their factional forces, they drove out people to reckless struggles, inviting only worthless sacrifice.
    Nationalists did not indicate the true way for the national liberation struggle, only talking about "development" of education and industry, "self-cultivation" and "class cooperation" and "national autonomy" under the veil of "national reformation" and "cultivation of ability".
    President Kim Il Sung, basing himself on the deep-going analysis of the preceding theories of the working class and actual conditions of the then revolutionary movement, formed the DIU with anti-imperialism, independence and sovereignty and socialist idea as its programme, thus initiating the Korean revolution which would advance forward under the banner of independence.
    The formation of the DIU made the Korean revolution bid farewell to all sorts of worn-out tendencies including flunkeyism and dogmatism and forge ahead with correct target, strategy and tactics on the principle of independence.
    The Workers' Party of Korea and Songun revolutionary cause have their origin in the DIU.

Japan Can Never Evade Settlement of Its Past: Rodong Sinmun

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Japan has become more vociferous over the "abduction issue" after the emergence of a new Cabinet. Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Monday says: Japan should do what it should, instead of persisting in drum beating over the already settled "abduction issue".
    Abe, the new prime minister of Japan, in his statement released upon the inauguration of the new Cabinet, expressed his intention to set up what he called "headquarters of measures on the abduction issue", while the new chief Cabinet secretary let loose a string of rubbish, claiming that the "abduction issue" should be discussed at the United Nations, too, and the opening of diplomatic ties between Japan and the DPRK was unthinkable without its solution. It is needless to say that this is intended to increase pressure upon the DPRK by internationalizing the issue.
    The "abduction issue" over which the Japanese authorities are raising terrific outcries has already been solved. When it comes to this issue, it is a crucial matter over which the DPRK should file charges against Japan. Under the Japanese imperialists' military occupation and rule over Korea, well over 8.4 million Koreans were abducted and whisked away to be over driven at deadly battle fields and sites of backbreaking toil, at least one million of them meeting their death. And more than 200 thousand Korean women were abducted and taken away to be forced to sexual slavery for the Japanese imperialist aggression army.
    In recent years, anti-DPRK organizations and figures of Japan, under the backstage manipulation and instigation of the plot-breeding centers of the U.S. and Japanese governments and right-wing conservative forces, have swarmed into areas bordering on the DPRK and threw espionage and subversive networks to be engaged in the whole gamut of malicious maneuvers against the DPRK while abducting DPRK citizens by mean and crafty means including appeasement and deception and taking them to Japan.
    What Japan should do before anything else is to settle the crimes of the Japanese imperialists in abducting and taking away Koreans by force in the past and the issue of abduction of DPRK citizens in recent years.
    However, Japan, like the guilty party filing the suit first, keeps raising a hue and cry over the "abduction issue," seeking to internationalize it.
    One of the criminal purposes sought by Japan in persistently kicking up dust over the "abduction issue" is to divert elsewhere the concerns and alert of the international community against Japan's moves for becoming a military giant and launching reinvasion.
    The pressing issue in the DPRK-Japan relations is for Japan to atone for its past crimes against the Korean people at an early date. Japan can never evade the settlement of the past. The Japanese authorities would be well advised to be aware of this and behave with discretion.

Anniversaries of WPK and DIU Observed

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- A joint seminar of Juche idea study organizations was held at Chambogo University of Uganda on Oct. 3 and a seminar on the subject "Songun policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and Juche idea" took place in Kinshasa of Democratic Congo on Oct. 4 to mark the 61st anniversary of the WPK and the 80th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union. Chango Machyo, senior adviser to the Presidency of Uganda, in a speech entitled "On the Juche idea, guiding idea of the WPK" said that humankind could become maters of their destiny thanks to the Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung and enriched by Kim Jong Il. The Juche idea is a great guiding idea in the era of independence which steers the future of humankind, he pointed out.
    The chief of the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of Teachers of Educational Faculty of Chambogo University of Uganda in a speech titled "The WPK is the party guiding the 21st century" said that the WPK has grown to be an ever-victorious steel-like party, a dignified vanguard unit.
    Bele Moukeleng, chairman of the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of University of Kinshasa, in a speech titled "Juche idea is theoretical basis of Songun idea" explained that the Songun idea, proceeding from the basic requirements of the Juche idea, clearly indicates the way of controlling reactionaries with arms and achieving independence of the popular masses. He called for learning the Juche idea and Songun idea to put them into practice.

Branch of Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification Formed

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- An inaugural ceremony of the Loja Branch of the Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting Korea's Independent and Peaceful Reunification was held in Loja City on Oct. 5. Present there were Mayor of Loja, Loja Province, Jorge Arturo Bailon Abad, Chairman of the Loja City Arbitration Committee Stalin Lenin Albear, the chairman of the Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting Korea's Independent and Peaceful Reunification, officials of the city office and members of organizations of friendship and solidarity with the Korean people.
    At the ceremony Stalin Lenin Albear was elected chairman of the Loja branch.

Algerian President Supports Korean People's Efforts for National Reunification

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of Algeria, when receiving credentials from the DPRK ambassador to his country on Oct. 4, underscored the need to continue developing friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Algeria and expressed support to the Korean people in their efforts to solve the issue of national reunification by their nation itself. The DPRK recognized the Algerian Democratic and People's Republic in the period of its active struggle for national liberation in 1958, he said, adding that the Algerian people admire the good stand of the DPRK.

All-People Anti-U.S. Struggle Urged

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Jang Song Hoe, chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), reportedly released an appeal on Oct. 2 calling upon the youth and students to take the van of the fight against the U.S. and war and against the negotiations on the south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement." Drawing attention to the scheduled opening of the 4th round of FTA negotiations in Jeju Island on Oct. 23, the appeal said the United States was working desperately to conclude the agreement at whatever cost, isolate and stifle the north and ignite a war on the Korean Peninsula, come what may.
    It called on all the Koreans to charge ahead vigorously toward victory, conscious that peace can be won by the struggle against the U.S. and war.
    It urged the youth and students to get well ready for the grand battle against the U.S. and thereby shatter the uninterrupted anti-north offensive of the U.S. and, for the present, stage an extensive struggle to thwart the FTA negotiations so that the November general turnout of the people can be turned into a general turnout against the U.S.

Street Performances for Checking Expansion of U.S. Military Base Declared in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- The Joint Action of Men of Literature and Art in south Korea "The Field People" reportedly called a press conference in Seoul on Oct. 12 to declare that it will conduct "street art festival" events for checking the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek. Recalling that a wide range of art performances had been given in Taechu-ri and Todu-ri against the expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek from 2003, the speakers stated they would move the stage of performances to Seoul and carry on "street art festival" events for over one month from Oct. 13.
    The events will involve members of the Grand Field Culture and Art Centre and the Our Caricature Solidarity and other organizations, writers, singers and artists, upwards of 1,000 in all.
    Stating that they would bring to the knowledge of the south Koreans the injustice of expansion of the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek through picture and photo exhibitions and art performances every day, they called upon the people of all social strata to foil the expansion of the base at any cost by pooling strength.

"Case of Organization behind Hanchongryon" in S. Korea Termed Pre-arranged Plot

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- The move to fabricate the "case of an organization behind the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon)" in south Korea is a premeditated plot of the ultra-right conservative forces to suppress the progressive reformists and pro-reunification patriotic forces in a bid to install a pro-U.S. conservative "regime." Rodong Sinmun Monday says this in a signed commentary carried in connection with the disclosure of the truth behind the "case".
    The commentary goes on:
    It is an anti-DPRK fascist plot unimaginable in the June 15 era of reunification and reminds one of the fascist dictatorial "regimes" in the past when they faked up a chain of "pro-north spying cases" to stay in power and punished pro-reunification democrats en masse on charges of "espionage" in the days of military dictatorship.
    The "Grand National Party" and other pro-U.S. conservative forces in south Korea are working with bloodshot eyes to disintegrate and eliminate the progressive camp, while making desperate efforts to come to power through the "presidential election" next year come what may.
    The case of an "organization behind the Hanchongryon" is nothing but a plot hatched to attain the above-said aim.
    No sooner had the case been disclosed than south Korean media described it as a disturbing move causing suspicion of carefully prearranged scenario of the public security forces and pro-reunification movement organizations including Hanchongryon and figures of different social standings blasted it as a plot to fabricate a pro-north spy ring and a charade to eliminate the progressive reformist forces.
    The reality clearly proves that the ultra-right conservative forces whose days are numbered, the dregs of the old history, are making last-ditch efforts and doing immeasurable harm to the south Korean society and the nation as their miserable ends are drawing near.

Rodong Sinmun on S. Korea-U.S. "Alliance"

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- The south Korea-U.S. "alliance" is one against the Korean nation, quite contrary to the June 15 joint declaration, the idea of "By our nation itself" and the will and interests of the nation, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed article. The Grand National Party, malignant conservative organizations and press media in south Korea, have persistently pursued dependence on the outside forces, "alliance" with them, the article says, and continues:
    Their reckless behavior is a challenge to the trend of the times in which the Korean nation has advanced hand in hand by itself under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and an unpardonable treacherous act intended to give up the independent rights and interests of the nation and continue to put south Korea under the U.S. domination.
    The south Korea-U.S. "alliance" is not "one for security" but one for war and against reunification. The U.S. has established "alliance" with south Korea in a bid to invade the DPRK with south Korea as a springboard and dominate the whole of Korea, not to defend south Korea.
    The south Korea-U.S. "alliance" is still leveling at the DPRK. In the long run, the "alliance" is not only an obstacle to relaxing the tensions of the Korean Peninsula but also a factor of threatening the peace of the country and disturbing the reconciliation and reunification of the north and the south.
    The south Korean pro-U.S. forces are talking about their "interests" from the "alliance" with the U.S., but they are not for the people.
    With nothing can the pro-U.S. conservative forces of south Korea justify the anachronistic and anti-national "alliance" with the U.S. Such treacherous "alliance" running counter to the aspiration and basic interests of the Korean nation and the requirements of the era of independent reunification should be broken at an early date.

World Food Day Observed

    Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today devotes a signed article to the World Food Day. It says:
    It is one of the most important issues in ensuring the existence and development of humankind to settle the food problem worldwide. The FAO, therefore, set October 16, its anniversary, as World Food Day.
    Various events taking place in various countries on this day help deepen the understanding of the importance of the food problem worldwide and raising the international concern for the issue of increasing the food production to eradicate poverty and hunger.
    In order to boost the food production the DPRK is taking a variety of practical and effective measures including vigorous undertaking of gigantic nature-remaking projects such as land realignment and construction of waterways, strict abidance by the principle of the right crop in the right season and the right crop to the right soil in the agricultural production and a wide application of advanced agricultural technology and methods.
    Increased efforts are being exerted for the settlement of the food problem worldwide on the occasion of the day.

    Pyongyang, 16 de octubre (ATCC) -- El "incidente de la organizacion detras de la Federacion de Consejos Generales de Estudiantes Universitarios del Sur de Corea (FCGEUSC)" es un complot de las fuerzas conservadoras ultraderechistas para reprimir a las fuerzas progresistas, reformistas y patrioticas pro-reunificacion a fin de constituir un "poder" conservador proyanqui. Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual difundido este lunes y continua:
    Este caso es una intriga fascista contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea que no se puede ocurrir en ningun caso en esta epoca de reunificacion del 15 de Junio.
    　Ademas, resulta el metodo identico al que empleaban los anteriores "gobiernos" que para alargar su vida en el poder, en aquellos tiempos de dictadura fascista militar inventaron numerosos "incidentes de grupos de espias pro-Norte" y ejecutaron a innumerables personalidades democraticas pro-reunificacion calificandolas de "espias".
    El "Gran Partido Nacional" y otras fuerzas conservadoras proyanquis del Sur de Corea realizan esfuerzos desesperados por retomar el poder en las "elecciones presidenciales" del ano que viene y aniquilar a las fuerzas progresistas.
    Tan pronto como se revelaran los verdaderos aspectos del incidente de la supuesta entidad controladora de la FCGEUSC, los medios de prensa surcoreanos lo calificaron de un "movimiento sospechoso que insinua la manipulacion minuciosa de las fuerzas de seguridad publica".
    　La misma FCGEUSC y otras entidades del movimiento por la reunificacion y las personalidades de distintos circulos lo condenaron como "complot para inventar una organizacion de espias pro-Norte y eliminar a las fuerzas reformistas y progresistas".
    Los hechos demuestran claramente que las fuerzas conservadoras ultraderechistas, quienes ya no tienen futuro, actuan mas desesperadamente cuanto mas se acerca su fin perjudicando gravemente a la sociedad surcoreana y la nacion coreana.

Japon nunca puede evadir la liquidacion del pasado criminal

    Pyongyang, 16 de octubre (ATCC) -- El diario Rodong Sinmun difundio este lunes un comentario individual aconsejando a las autoridades japonesas que cumplan las suyas en vez de armar escandalos por el ya resuelto "problema de secuestro". 　El nuevo premier japones Abe, en su intervencion relacionada con la composicion del nuevo gabinete, expreso su voluntad de instaurar la "direccion a cargo del problema de secuestro" y el director del secretariado del gabinete dijo que este tema debe ser sometido a la discusion de la ONU y que sin resolverlo, nunca sera posible la normalizacion de las relaciones con la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, precisa el comentarista y prosigue:
    　Es evidente que tal acto verbal se orienta a internacionalizar el "problema de secuestro" para intensificar la presion sobre la RPDC.
    　Japon es el pais que debe mucho a la RPDC en este tema.
    　Es porque en el periodo de ocupacion militar de Corea por parte del imperialismo nipon, mas de 8 millones 400 mil coreanos fueron arrestados o secuestrados con destino a los mortiferos campos de batalla o lugares de trabajos duros, de los cuales mas de un millon perdieron tragicamente su vida.
    　Ademas, 200 mil coreanas fueron convertidas en esclavas sexuales para las tropas agresoras japonesas.
    　En los ultimos anos, bajo el control trasero e instigacion de las fuerzas conservadoras ultraderechistas y los organos intrigantes de EE.UU. y del gobierno japones, las entidades y elementos de este pais en contra de la RPDC establecieron en las zonas fronterizas redes de espionaje contra ella y al mismo tiempo, raptaron y secuestraron a los norcoreanos utilizando metodos viles y astutos para llevarlos forzadamente a Japon.
    　Hoy dia, la tarea primordial de Japon es recompensar los crimenes de secuestro y arresto forzoso a los coreanos, cometidos en el pasado por los imperialistas nipones, y solucionar el problema de este tipo surgido en los ultimos anos en detrimento de los ciudadanos de la RPDC.
    　Pese a esta verdad, Japon cuestiona a gritos ese problema partiendo de su objetivo criminal de desviar la optica de la sociedad internacional a sus maniobras encaminadas a convertirse en una potencia militar y provocar otra guerra de nueva agresion.

Constituida la sucursal del comite de apoyo a Corea en Ecuador

    Pyongyang, 16 de octubre (ATCC) -- Quedo constituida el dia 5 la sucursal de Loja del Comite Ecuatoriano de Apoyo a la Reunificacion Independiente y Pacifica de Corea. 　En la ocasion estuvieron presentes el alcalde de Loja de la provincia homonima, Jorge Arturo Bailon Abad, el presidente del Comite de Arbitraje de esta urbe, Stalin Lenin Albear, el presidente de dicha entidad de apoyo a Corea, Daniel Alvarez, y personalidades de la municipalidad e integrantes de entidades de amistad y solidaridad con el pueblo coreano.
    　Como presidente de la sucursal naciente fue electo Stalin Lenin Albear.

UDI es el origen de la revolucion coreana

    Pyongyang, 16 de octubre (ATCC) -- La Union para Derrotar al Imperialismo (UDI), organizada el 17 de octubre del 15 (1926) de la Era Juche en Huadian por el Presidente Kim Il Sung, significo el punto de nueva partida y el origen de la revolucion coreana. En aquel tiempo, formaban la tendencia principal del movimiento revolucionario de Corea la revolucion socialista basada en teorias convencionales y el movimiento nacionalista burgues.
    Los llamados "revolucionarios socialistas", caidos en el servilismo a grandes potencias y el dogmatismo, intentaron aplicar automaticamente en la revolucion las teorias precedentes sin tomar en consideracion la situacion concreta de Corea.
    　Ademas, enloquecidos por ampliar unicamente sus fracciones, condujeron a las masas populares a la lucha temeraria que dejo solo muertes inutiles.
    　Bajo la consigna de "reformismo nacional" y "mejoramiento de capacidad", los nacionalistas abogaron por el "desarrollo" de educacion e industria, la "autoeducacion" de cada individuo, la "cooperacion de clases" y "autonomia nacional" sin plantear el camino verdadero para la lucha de liberacion nacional.
    Bajo tales circunstancias, a base de un analisis profundo de las teorias precedentes de la clase obrera y la situacion de movimiento revolucionario, el Presidente fundo la UDI, que toma por su plataforma el ideal de antiimperialismo, independencia y socialismo, dando inicio a la revolucion coreana que avanza bajo la bandera de independencia.
    Con la fundacion de la UDI, la revolucion coreana rompio con toda clase de corrientes ideologicas caducas tales como el servilismo a grandes potencias y el dogmatismo y pudo avanzar con su meta, estrategia y tacticas acertadas en el principio de independencia.
    La raiz historica del Partido del Trabajo de Corea se echo en la UDI y la causa revolucionaria del Songun (priorizacion militar) se inicio tambien en la misma.
