S. Korean Authorities' Dispatch of "Observers' Group" to U.S.-led PSI Exercise under Fire

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA Tuesday assailing the south Korean authorities' dispatch of an "observers' group" to the U.S.-led PSI exercise: The south Korean authorities sent the "observers' group" to the U.S.-led PSI exercise now underway in the waters off Bahrain since Monday.
    The authorities' dispatch of the group intended to support the U.S. in its noisy racket of sanctions and blockade against the DPRK is another shameless act of treachery little short of involving themselves in the U.S. moves for a war of aggression.
    It is well known to the world that the U.S. has committed aggression against other countries and wantonly interfered in their internal affairs even by searching their ships and airliners under the signboard of the PSI in violation of their sovereignty.
    The exercise is, in fact, a multinational military maneuver for aggression against the DPRK launched under the pretext of implementing the UN Security Council "resolution."
    The public in south Korea is expressing deep worry about its participation in the exercise, asserting that the participation in the U.S.-led "PSI" may "spark off a dangerous armed conflict."
    This notwithstanding, the south Korean authorities, pursuant to the U.S. policy, sent the above-said group to the exercise which they describe as "maritime inspection" of the DPRK ships and the like. They went the lengths of justifying their participation in the exercise, talking about "international norm" and "the significance of the participation." This clearly proves that they are set to become an accomplice in the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK.
    This is a serious provocation against the DPRK and a blatant challenge to peace and security of the country as it is an unpardonable criminal act of inviting confrontation between compatriots and a disaster of war.
    The DPRK has already clarified more than once that it will mercilessly punish anyone who encroaches upon its sovereignty and the right to existence even a bit.
    The south Korean authorities would be well advised to stop their reckless action, pondering over the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by its participation in the above-said brigandish PSI for aggression.

Japan's Reckless Arms Buildup under Fire

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Japan is now hell-bent on the unbridled arms buildup and the moves to emerge a military power. This is aimed at maintaining a military edge in Asia and rounding off the preparations for going into military actions for aggression anytime. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
    The Japanese reactionary ruling quarters are very nostalgic for the past days when Japan ruled Korea and other Asian countries after invading them and leaving no means untried to bring that era back.
    It is the black-hearted intention of the Japanese militarist forces to stage a comeback to those countries, taking advantage of the tense situation now prevailing on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Asia-Pacific due to the U.S. policy for escalating the pressure upon the DPRK. The Japanese reactionaries think that now is the time for them to clear all hurdles lying in the way of the militarist war chariot, beef up armed forces, unhindered, and launch reinvasion under the signboard of "assisting" the U.S. forces.
    The Japanese militarists are seized by the ambition to build up their military muscle and embark upon conquering Asia in a bid to realize the will left by their predecessors unfulfilled, far from drawing a bitter lesson drawn from their inglorious past. That is why they are becoming all the more adventurous in their military moves than ever before. But Japan is gravely mistaken.
    They would be well advised to know well that their reckless military overseas expansion is little short of a suicidal act of wrecking Japan's security and inviting disasters.

Workers' Struggle in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Organizations under the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) are these days waging a struggle for a victory in the general strike of workers in Seoul, according to a media report. The Federation of Public Transport and Service Trade Unions under the KCTU on October 26 held its Seoul regional meeting for a victory in the general strike near the general building of the "government".
    A resolution read out at the meeting bitterly denounced the "government" for gravely threatening the right to existence of the workers and other strata of the people by the negotiations for the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement" and declared that the workers would closely unite and stubbornly wage the struggle to thwart the signing of FTA.
    Meanwhile, the Seoul regional practice team of the general strike and turnout of the KCTU has been conducting uninterrupted agitation activities for checking the conclusion of FTA since Oct. 22.
    The team declared that it would set up strongholds of struggle in different regions and continue the agitation activities while launching a signature campaign against FTA.

Indonesian Diplomats Help Korean Farmers

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Indonesian Charge d'Affaires a.i. here Bambang Irawan K. and staff members of the Indonesian embassy drove to the Korea-Indonesia Friendship Yaksu Cooperative Farm in Kangso County, South Phyongan Province, on Monday to help the farm in farm work. They gave helping hands to farmers in carrying rice sheaves.
    During break they sang songs of the two countries and talked with farmers, deepening the friendship.
    They handed materials for farming to the farm.

Rodong Sinmun on Increased Politico-Ideological Might

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The politico-ideological might of the Korean People's Army which has been augmented in every way under the Songun leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea shatters the heinous moves of the U.S. imperialists for aggression and firmly guarantees the victorious advance of Korean-style socialism, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article. More than a decade that witnessed the implementation of the original Songun policy of the Workers' Party of Korea in all fields has been a period in which the politico-ideological might of the KPA has reached a new higher stage, the article notes, and goes on:
    The matchless might of the KPA strong in idea and faith finds its manifestation in the fact that the whole army has become human bullets and bombs devotedly defending the headquarters of the revolution.
    Today the KPA is demonstrating its might as the army of the Party and the leader and a model in protecting him both in name and reality.
    The true picture of the KPA strong in idea and faith is proved by the fact that all the officers and men ardently love the country and the people, have the strong spirit of defending socialism and are waging an uncompromising struggle against U.S. and Japanese imperialism and class enemies.
    The defence line of the country is impenetrable and the people enjoy a happier life on this land thanks to the officers and men of the KPA, their hearts afire with ardent love for the socialist country, towering hatred for the enemies and the firm determination to wipe them out.
    The above-said might of the KPA finds a clear manifestation in the fact that it is exceptionally high in the spirit of collectivism and boasts the perfect unity between officers and men and a proper combination of military and political affairs.
    The revolutionary army all the officers and men of which are united close in their service on the basis of the monolithic idea and faith, comradeship and sense of obligation remains unshaken in any worst adversity and is always sure to beat back the attack by any formidable enemy.

U.S. and S. Korean Warmongers' Sabre Rattling against DPRK Blasted

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The United States is busy totally revising and supplementing its war scenarios against the DPRK under pretext of creating a "new security environment," while taking issue with the DPRK over its bolstering of war deterrent. This indicates that the U.S. is set to provoke a new war, a nuclear war, on the Korean Peninsula at any cost. Minju Joson Tuesday observes this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
    The U.S. is staging madcap war exercises after amassing huge armed forces in south Korea and in its vicinity.
    At the recent 38th annual meeting of the south Korea-U.S. "security consultative council" the U.S. reaffirmed "its commitment to providing nuclear umbrella" and promised to dispatch not only its strategic nuclear weapons but tactical nuclear weapons to south Korea in "case of contingency" on the peninsula under the pretext of "containing the bolstering of deterrent." These facts go to prove that the U.S. remains unchanged in its design to provoke a nuclear war on the peninsula but it has become more undisguised in its moves than ever before.
    This being a hard reality, the south Korean warmongers are becoming more zealous in joining the U.S. in its moves for a nuclear war.
    The hearts of the servicepersons and people in the DPRK are burning with towering resentment against the U.S. and south Korean warmongers as they are putting spurs to the preparations for a war against the dignified DPRK in a bid to bring down its political system. Should they ignite a nuclear war against the DPRK, they will not be able to escape a final doom.
    Any war to be launched by them against the DPRK would lead to their self-destruction, the commentary warns.

War Game in S. Korea under Fire

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The south Korean war maniacs staged a "coast landing drill" of the three services in Phohang, according to the south Korean KBS on Oct. 27. The war game involving at least 10 warships, more than 100 helicopters and armored cars and over 8,000 troops was staged in an atmosphere of an actual war. It was a grave action in that the south Korean war-thirsty elements staged the drill all by themselves, breaking the precedent that it had been staged every year jointly by U.S. troops present in south Korea and south Korean marines.
    The war maniacs should refrain from acting rashly and immediately stop the treacherous act of following the war moves of the U.S., looking straight into the trend of the times.

U.S. Forces Stage Evacuation Drill in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. forces present in south Korea staged a rehearsal of evacuating noncombatants to Japan in the period from Oct. 26 to 29, according to the south Korean MBC. Over 14,000 noncombatants including U.S. servicemen's families were involved in the exercise which was staged under the simulated condition of "contingency" on the Korean Peninsula.
    The war hawks kicked up quite a dust, carrying them to Japan by planes and clippers.
    The U.S. imperialists are these days pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula to an ominous pitch, getting more feverish in war maneuvers against the DPRK, while creating a war atmosphere hither-to unknown in south Korea.

National Magic Festival Held

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The 4th National Magic Festival was held at the magic theatre of the Pyongyang Circus over the period from Oct. 23 to 30. Participating in the festival were magicians of art troupes and magic fans from across the country.
    The magicians presented works well representing the dynamic activities and optimistic life of the Korean people by unique styles and artistic rendition.
    Highly appreciated among them were the illusionary pieces "One," "Wonders in a Tent" and "A Mysterious Box," the functional jugglery "A Juggler Angling Catfish" and "Trump Card, String and Ring Trick," "Table-tennis Ball Trick" and "Disk Trick" and the general jugglery "More Fish".

Greetings to Algerian President

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of Algeria, on Tuesday on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the start of the Algerian revolution. In the message Kim expressed the belief that the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would grow stronger in the mutual interests and sincerely wished the friendly Algerian government and people greater success in the work for consolidating the national unity and the country's prosperity under his leadership.

Animal Resources Increase in DPRK

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Animal resources have increased in the DPRK as the days go by. In October Juche 45 (1956), President Kim Il Sung saw to it that a decision of the DPRK Cabinet "On Fostering the Character of Loving the Nature among the People and Strengthening the Work for Protection and Propagation of Beneficial Birds and Beasts" was adopted in order to increase the country's natural wealth, and wisely led the activities for carrying it into practice.
    Kim Jong Il made public famous works including "On Bring about a Fresh Turn in Land Management" and "Let Us Vigorously Undertake Afforestation and Water Conservancy Projects to Build the Mountains and Rivers of the Country As Beautiful As Golden Tapestry in the Era of the Workers' Party ", setting forth tasks on sprucing up the mountains and rivers of the country.
    In recent several years, the 300 varieties of animals have increased in the Paektusan Revolutionary Battle Site Special Sanctuary, totaling about 1,500 kinds. The sanctuary has been registered as an international biosphere reserve.
    Steps have been taken to breed animals artificially in natural reserves including Mt. Myohyang, Mt. Kuwol and Mt. Oga, with the result that deer and roe deer are growing in number.
    The DPRK has set the months from March to July each year as the period for protecting and propagating useful animals.

U.S. Commits at Least 200 Cases of Arial Espionage against DPRK

    Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist warmongers committed more than 200 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in October, according to a military source. This is over 20 cases more than those in October last year.
    Involved in these crimes were strategic and tactical planes with various missions based in south Korea and overseas.
    Much scared by the successful nuclear test for self-defence conducted by the DPRK, the U.S. imperialists mobilized 15 strategic and tactical planes including U-2, RC-12, RC-7B and WC-135W, a plane for detecting nuclear tests, on Oct. 10 and 11 for frantically perpetrating aerial espionage against all areas of the DPRK and the waters off the East Coast of Korea.
    U-2s made shuttle flights in the sky over Tokjok Islet, Phochon and Sokcho almost every day during the month to commit aerial photography and electronic espionage against major military targets in the frontline areas of the DPRK and its depth.
    Nine strategic and tactical planes were involved in the madcap observation and reconnaissance and aerial espionage against the whole areas of the DPRK on Oct. 18, the day before the start of the "joint landing exercise" and the "landing operation exercise" staged in south Korea, and on Oct. 23 respectively.
    The above-said aerial espionage underscores the need for the army and the people of the DPRK to bolster the war deterrent for self-defence in every way to foil the U.S. imperialists' moves for a war of aggression.

    Las fuerzas gobernantes reaccionarias de Japon, quienes extranan mucho aquellos tiempos en que dominaban a Corea y otros paises asiaticos, recurren a todos los recursos para reproducir esa historia del pasado.
    Las astutas fuerzas militaristas japonesas pretenden alcanzar su objetivo de nueva agresion aprovechando la situacion regional de Asia y el Pacifico en torno a la Peninsula Coreana, que se puso muy tensa debido al recrudecimiento de la politica de presion de EE.UU. a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.

Minju Joson denuncia maniobras belicas de EE.UU. y Sur de Corea

    Pyongyang, 31 de octubre (ATCC) -- Estados Unidos enmienda generalmente los planes de guerra de agresion a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea so pretexto del "nuevo ambiente de seguridad" cuestionando las fuerzas disuasivas en fortalecimiento de esta contra la guerra, lo que demuestra que el imperio intenta desencadenar a toda costa la nueva guerra nuclear en la Peninsula Coreana. 　Senala asi el periodico Minju Joson en un comentario individual del dia 31 y prosigue:
    　De hecho, Estados Unidos emplaza enormes fuerzas armadas en el suelo surcoreano y su contorno y libra los freneticos ejercicios belicos. Constituida la Asociacion Nacional de Literatos del 15 de Junio

    Monte Kumgang, 30 de octubre (ATCC) -- En medio de gran esperanza y atencion de los escritores y hombres de letras del Norte, el Sur y en ultramar, fue constituida la vispera en el monte Kumgang la Asociacion Nacional de Literatos del 15 de Junio. En la ceremonia constitutiva participaron las delegaciones del Norte y el Sur de Corea encabezadas por Kim Tok Chol y Yom Hung Gyong, quienes son respectivos presidentes de las Asociaciones Nacionales de Literatos del 15 de Junio de ambas partes.
    En la ocasion hubo intervenciones.
    　Luego fue aprobado el estatuto de la entidad naciente y fueron elegidos los integrantes de ambas partes de la copresidencia de la misma.
    En la reunion de la copresidencia Norte-Sur fue discutida una serie de problemas, tales como, la edicion y publicacion de la revista "Literatura de Reunificacion" como organo de la asociacion, la institucion del "Premio Cultural por la Reunificacion 15 de Junio" y otros que se presentan en la administracion.
    Este dia, tuvo lugar el acto "Noche de la literatura" bajo el tema de "La epoca del 15 de Junio y literatos nacionales".

Diplomaticos indonesios participan en jornada de faenas agricolas

    Pyongyang, 31 de octubre (ATCC) -- El encargado de negocios a.i. de la Embajada de la Republica de Indonesia en Corea, Bambang Irawan K., y otros miembros de esta sede diplomatica realizaron la vispera un trabajo voluntario en la Granja Cooperativa de Yaksu de Amistad Corea-Indonesia en el distrito de Kangso de la Provincia de Phyong-an del Sur. 　Los huespedes trasladaron gavillas de arroz para ayudar a los granjeros locales muy ocupados de la cosecha.
    　En momentos de descanso cantaron canciones de los dos paises y charlaron con los granjeros profundizando la amistad.
    　Los huespedes donaron a la granja materiales agricolas.
