DPRK Stand to Contribute to Peace and Security in Asia Clarified

    Tehran, November 15 (KCNA) -- The parliamentarians representing the voices of the Asian people, aware of the sense of responsibility as the master of the continent, should thoroughly reject the moves of the hegemonic forces to stamp out the history, culture and tradition of Asia, place the common denominators above their differences and demonstrate the united strength of the region in one voice in the international arena under the slogan of solidarity, peace and justice of Asia. Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, who is leading the delegation of the DPRK to the 7th Assembly of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace held in Iran, declared this in a speech at its plenary meeting on Nov. 13. He said:
    The struggle of the Korean people to achieve the reunification and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is now facing a grave challenge.
    The Bush administration, in particular, openly listed the DPRK as part of an "axis of evil" and a target of preemptive nuclear attack and has since escalated the threat and pressure upon the DPRK such as staging nuclear war exercises and imposing financial sanctions against it, bringing to light an attempt to bring down its social system.
    Under the extremely tense situation where the supreme interests and security of the DPRK were seriously threatened it successfully conducted on Oct. 9 an underground nuclear test under secure conditions as an exercise of its sovereign right to self-defence to cope with the U.S. nuclear threat, sanctions and pressure.
    The DPRK will surely force the Bush administration to own its historic responsibility for having torpedoed the process of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.
    It remains unchanged in its stand to peacefully realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and negotiation though it was compelled to conduct the nuclear test by the U.S.
    As the DPRK has already clarified, its nuclear weapons are war deterrent for self-defence to cope with the U.S. nuclear threat and sanctions which have reached an extreme phase and it will feel no need to keep even a single nuke if the U.S. ceases its nuclear threat and sanctions against the DPRK in a verifiable and trustworthy manner. Availing ourselves of this opportunity, we express thanks to the Asian people who sent support and solidarity to our people in their struggle for the peace, reunification and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and believe that the invariable will of the DPRK for the denuclearization and the independent option of its people to protect the supreme interests of the state will receive well-deserved respect.
    We will as always unite close with the Asian people and make a positive contribution to peace, security, independent development and prosperity of Asia.

Japanese Imperialists' Fabrication of "Ulsa Five-point Treaty" under Fire

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland made public information bulletin No. 926 on Thursday, 101 years since the Japanese imperialists fabricated the "Ulsa (1905) Five-Point Treaty" to establish colonial domination over Korea. It said:
    On the strength of the "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" the Japanese imperialists occupied the whole of Korea and turned it into their colony. Since then the Korean nation had suffered unbearable humiliation, maltreatment, cruel sacrifices and misfortune, the distress and tragedy as a ruined nation for more than 40 years.
    During the occupation of Korea the Japanese imperialists unhesitatingly committed the most hideous crimes against humanity in history. They massacred at least one million innocent Koreans, forcibly drafted more than 8.4 million Koreans to impose slave labor upon them and forced more than 200,000 Korean women into "sexual slavery" for the Japanese aggressor army.
    They severely destroyed and looted precious cultural treasures and natural resources of Korea and made no scruple of depriving the Koreans of their written and spoken languages and their own names in a bid to enslave them.
    Their fabrication of the "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" and colonial domination over Korea were the most brigandish and hideous state-sponsored crimes.
    Japan is obliged to apologize and compensate for the crimes committed against the Koreans in the past.
    However, Japan has worked hard to beautify and justify the hideous state-sponsored crimes committed in the past, instead of reflecting on them and making an apology for them before the Koreans and other peoples of the world. It is keen to stage a comeback to Korea, distorting history and eyeing even its inviolable territory including Tok Islet.
    Japan is more desperately pursuing its hostile policy towards the DPRK, zealously joining the U.S. in its sanctions and pressure upon it.
    All the Koreans including the south Koreans should more dynamically turn out in a more dynamic anti-Japanese struggle to force Japan to redeem all the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean nation and frustrate the Japanese reactionaries' moves for reinvasion so that they may not suffer the same disgrace and ordeals as the Koreans did in the past.

Noting that to adhere to the viewpoint and stand of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit is a very important way of speeding up the patriotic movement for independent reunification, the author of the article goes on:
    If the members of the nation fail to maintain the viewpoint and morale of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit, they cannot withstand the challenges of outside aggression forces nor can they shape the destiny of the nation independently. In the present times it stands out with greater urgency to struggle with this steadfast ideological standpoint and morale.
    The Korean nation is now living in the June 15 era of reunification. The progress of the era would have been unthinkable without these viewpoint and morale.
    The present times have witnessed evermore desperate moves of the outside forces in their interference in the internal affairs of the Korean nation intended to block its cause of independent reunification and undermine the inter-Korean relations and their moves to provoke a war against the DPRK. No force on earth will or can save the Korean nation from the danger of war. Destructive would be the consequences to be entailed by the stance of attaching importance to outside forces and dependence on them under this situation.
    Only when the Koreans cherish the viewpoint of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit and decisively oppose flunkeyism and dependence on outside forces, establishing the spirit of fighting with the joint efforts of the Korean nation itself, can they triumphantly push forward the cause of independent reunification, frustrating the interference of outside forces and their moves for aggression.

Solidarity Meeting for DPRK Held in Switzerland

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- A meeting for solidarity with the DPRK took place in Basel, Switzerland, on Nov. 11 under the sponsorship of the Swiss Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea. The chairman of the committee in his speech at the meeting said that the Korean people have made great achievements under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, adding that the DPRK made a breakthrough towards the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
    The DPRK has exerted strenuous efforts for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula for years and steadily bolstered its national defense capability for protecting the sovereignty of the country from the U.S. moves for a new war and nuclear threat, he noted, calling upon the world people to stage a more dynamic movement for supporting the Korean people in their just struggle.
    A message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

Footballers Feted

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The Cabinet of the DPRK Thursday arranged a banquet welcoming home the footballers who took the title of the AFC Under-19 Soccer Championship. Present at the banquet together with the young footballers were Kwak Pom Gi, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Choe Nam Gyun, minister of Food Procurement and Administration who is chairman of the DPRK Football Association, Mun Jae Dok, chairman of the DPRK Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, Pang Chol Gap, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, and sports officials.
    Kwak Pom Gi in his speech said the young footballers gave great strength and courage to the army and people of the DPRK in dynamically pushing forward the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation by overwhelming powerful Asian teams and winning the champion.
    He urged the young footballers to achieve brilliant success at the forthcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup by undergoing intensive training in the revolutionary soldier spirit.
    Speaking in reply, Kim Kum Il, captain of the team, said the young footballers would present a report of victory and glory to Kim Jong Il by further completing the Korean-style tactics through the training for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Freedom of Meetings and Demos Demanded in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The "Joint Conference for Ensuring Freedom of Unfettered and Peaceful Meetings and Demos" consisting of at least 90 civic and public organizations of south Korea reportedly held a press conference in front of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Office on Nov. 13 to demand the security authorities ensure the freedom of meetings and demos. The press conference was called in connection with the fact that the police office recently put forward the so-called "guidelines for strengthening countermeasure at the site of a meeting and a demo" banning meetings in the centre of the city and declared that "if a press conference or a cultural event is judged as an illegal meeting, it will strengthen roundup of participants on the spot."
    Speakers at the press conference asserted that the police office should ensure the freedom of meetings and demos of civic and public organizations.
    A press release was read out there.
    It noted that in the past the UN organization recommended south Korea to amend articles of the "law on meetings and demos" which bans meetings. It urged the police office to repeal all the measures going against the freedom of meetings and demos.
    The authorities should amend the evil laws so that the freedom of meetings and demos may be ensured, the release said, stressing that the organizations would struggle to check the action of the police office.

S. Korean Warmongers' Arms Buildup Assailed

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Friday carries a signed commentary denouncing the south Korean warmongers' arms buildup. The south Korean warlike forces are recently spurring on developing ultra-modern war equipment aiming at the DPRK, the commentary says, and goes on:
    This is an open provocation and challenge to the DPRK and an anti-national crime of bringing military confrontation and war between the north and the south in cooperation with the U.S. imperialists' moves for a war against the north.
    The south Korean bellicose forces' frenzy development of ultra-modern war equipment against fellow countrymen, synchronizing with the U.S. imperialists' racket of sanctions and pressure on the DPRK, is a clear revelation of their pro-U.S. sycophantic traitorous nature of betraying the nation as henchmen of the outside forces' moves for an aggressive war and harassing the peace of the country and blocking the cause of national reunification.
    It is not only this time that their criminal action was brought to light. In recent days alone, they amended and supplemented the already-prepared provocative war operation plans against the DPRK, making much ado about someone's "threat" in conspiracy with the U.S. imperialists. Talented Korean Painting Creators

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The Korean Paintings "Reunification Rainbow" and "Masque Dance in Pongsan" created in the Mansudae Art Studio of the DPRK were awarded the gold prizes, top prize, in the recent 9th Beijing International Art Exhibition. They were drawn by Kim Song Min and Kim Sung Hui.
    Labor Hero and People's Artist Kim Song Min laureate with Kim Il Sung Prize is a competent artist who has developed the creation of figure painting with the Korean painting technique in the nation's artistic world.
    He has produced more than 1,000 pieces of fine-art for over three decades.
    Among them, tens of his works were registered as national treasures and over ten works were awarded gold medals in various international fine-art exhibitions and fairs.
    In particular, "Sun of All People" created by him in Juche 83 (1994) was highly appreciated as a masterpiece of the times for its high degree of ideological and artistic value.
    People's Artist Kim Sung Hui laureate with Kim Il Sung Prize is a famous woman artist in the country. She produced a lot of Korean paintings worthy of national treasure during her 40-odd-year creative career.
    What is characteristic in her works is the application of the single-stroke method of the Korean painting. In the aspect of content, she drew many figure, landscape and genre paintings reflecting desire of fellow-countrymen for the national reunification and superiority of the Korean nation.

    She was repatriated to the socialist motherland from Japan in September 1959.

Japanese Reactionaries' Escalated Suppression of Chongryon Assailed

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries have escalated the suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) while crying for "intensified sanctions" against the DPRK over its measure of bolstering the war deterrent for self-defense. Describing this as a token of the uneasiness of criminals, a Minju Joson analyst Friday says:
    Japan, truth to tell, has a past full of crimes which it committed during its harsh colonial rule over Korea while occupying it for more than 40 years. These hideous state-sponsored crimes started with the fabrication of the "Ulsa (1905) Five-Point Treaty."
    The U.S. divided the Korean nation after the Second World War by taking advantage of the Japanese imperialists' enforcement of the colonial rule based on the treaty for scores of years. Explicitly speaking, but for the Japanese imperialists' occupation of Korea and enforcement of the colonial rule over it, the U.S. would not have made its way into south Korea after Korea's liberation under the pretext of disarming the Imperial Japanese Army and the Korean nation would not have undergone the tragic division for more than six decades. The misfortunes and pains the Korean nation has suffered for more than a century trace their origin to Japan.
    It is preposterous for Japan to raise a hue and cry over "a threat to security," taking issue with the DPRK over its measure of bolstering the war deterrent for self-defense. This reveals its grievances at having become unable to realize its reinvasion scheme due to the DPRK's increased war deterrent.

Japan Urged to Allow Resumption of Service of "Mangyongbong-92"

    Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities should immediately allow the resumption of the regular service of ship "Mangyongbong-92," which provides an inviolable humanitarian sea route to Koreans in Japan, lift the reckless sanctions against the DPRK and ensure free voyage of DPRK-flagged ships to Japan, urged a spokesman for the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society in a statement Friday. "Mangyongbong-92" serves a purely humanitarian purpose as it ensures visits of Koreans in Japan to the DPRK according to an agreement signed between the red cross organizations of the two countries, the spokesman said, and went on:
    The Koreans in Japan have lived in an alien land, undergoing disasters and pain for several decades, since they left the homeland either under the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule or after the national split. They still remain so miserable as to undergo the tragedy of being "separated families" due to the Japanese reactionaries.
    The Japanese reactionaries hindered the regular service of the ship whenever the bilateral relations deteriorated, as if they had been waiting for this to happen. This is their wicked and inveterate bad habit.
    They are pleased with mocking and abusing the pure and noble humanitarian issue. Herein lies political immaturity and moral vulgarity peculiar to Japan.
    By disallowing the portcalls of all DPRK-flagged ships on Japanese ports as if declaring all-out confrontation with the DPRK, Japan reminded us once again that it is near yet distant country.
    There is nothing surprising to the DPRK and it would have nothing to lose even in case the trade and exchanges with Japan are suspended as Japan is not a country of its concern. Truth to tell, it is not pleased to see Japan remain as its neighbor.
    We, however, cannot but take a serious note of the fact that the embargo imposed by the Japanese government on the DPRK's ships is part of the sea blockade perpetrated by it to join the U.S. in its sanctions against the DPRK.
    The DPRK government has already clarified that it would consider any form of sanctions against it as a declaration of war.
    Japan's reckless act of taking the lead in applying sanctions against the DPRK is bound to spark a physical conflict. In this case Japan will be held wholly accountable for the ensuing consequences.

    Al llegar a la presa levantada majestuosamente por entre las cordilleras escucho la explicacion sobre la planta electrica y recorrio extensa area de este embalse y el lugar de construccion para hacer conocimiento detallado de la marcha de la obra.
    Llego a la etapa final la obra de construccion de la planta iniciada no hace mucho tiempo, dijo el Dirigente y senalo que este asombroso logro es una clara demostracion de la tenacidad y voluntad de los funcionarios y trabajadores de dicho distrito.
    Al decir que los habitantes del distrito, al dar prueba del alto espiritu revolucionario de autoconfianza, levantaron numerosas obras arquitectonicas para hacer del distrito un lugar confortable para vivir, evaluo de altos sus exitos laborales.
    Luego de senalar la necesidad de hacer de la planta electrica una creacion de eterna duracion enumero las tareas y medios para el particular.

    Al recorrer el taller de elaboracion construido nuevamente evaluo altamente los esfuerzos abnegados de los constructores y empleados de la planta por la prosperidad de la patria y les dio agradecimiento.
    El pato es facil de criar y da carne y huevo de alto valor nutritivo y resulta un renglon aviar de gran eficacia economica, dijo el y senalo la necesidad de desenvolver en gran medida la cria de esta ave.
    Para normalizar en alto nivel la produccion de carne de patos es importante resolver suficientemente el problema del pienso, destaco el Dirigente y senalo que hay que elevar constantemente el rendimiento cerealista de las granjas cooperativas encargadas de suministrar el pienso a la planta.

    La Planta de Patos Kwangpho es una fabrica historica donde estan impregnados los abnegados esfuerzos del Presidente Kim Il Sung por suministrar mas carne y huevos al pueblo, dijo el y enseno la necesidad de hacerla una unidad modelo de produccion ganadera al acelerar de continuo y con vigor la modernizacion y cientifizacion de la planta e impulsar activamente el plan perspectivo para elevar la capacidad productiva.

Rechazan en la RPDC nueva medida de Japon contra Chongryon

    Pyongyang, 17 de noviembre (ATCC) -- El Comite Coreano de Ayuda a los Compatriotas en Extranjero publico la vispera una declaracion demandando fuertemente a los reaccionarios japoneses dejar de practicar su politica hostil a la Chongryon (Asociacion General de Coreanos Residente en Japon) y acciones encaminadas a exterminar a los coreanos radicados en ese pais-isla. Hace unos dias, la dieta japonesa dio el visto bueno al "proyecto de medidas de sancion" presentado por el gabinete, consistente en prohibir la navegacion de "Mangyongbong-92" -gran barco de pasajeros y carga que circula entre la RPDC y Japon- pretextando los ejercicios de lanzamiento de misiles y la prueba nuclear de la primera, recuerda el texto y prosigue:
    Al concretar en una ley la prohibicion de la navegacion de dicho barco, las autoridades japonesas bloquearon totalmente esa via maritima humanitaria, a traves de la cual los coreanos radicados en Japon viajaban o acogian a sus familiares y parientes para saludarse, visitar a los enfermos y celebrar las ceremonias familiares de diferentes tipos.
    De esta manera, Japon mostro ante la faz del mundo que no tiene nada del supuesto "pais legal" sino es un pais privado de derechos humanos que inventa incesantemente legislaciones infames de toda indole que atropellan el derecho a la vida y la independencia del ser humano.
    Aparte de mantener acorralados a los coreanos residentes en Japon, los reaccionarios japoneses aplican crueles medidas restrictivas y represivas para que ellos vivieran muy inhibidos en el archipielago japones.
    El lanzamiento de misiles y la prueba nuclear de la RPDC no tienen nada que ver con la Chongryon y los coreanos residentes en Japon, siendo una justa medida de autodefensa para hacer frente al ataque preventivo nuclear y a las infames y prolongadas maniobras de sancion y presion de los imperialistas norteamericanos.
    Sin embargo, al igual que un ladron que quiere pegar a la victima del robo, los reaccionarios japoneses se portan mas perversamente que nadie adhiriendose a la provocacion militar y la campana de sancion anti-RPDC de EE.UU.
    En ese sentido, colocaron primero en la mirilla de represion y revanchismo a la inocente Chongryon y los compatriotas radicados en Japon.
    Cualquier tipo de sancion contra ellos significa el atentado a la soberania de la RPDC y el pueblo de esta se mantiene en su invariable posicion de responder a la sancion con la represalia.
    Cuanto mas recurren los reaccionarios japoneses al hostigamiento politico contra ellos, se multiplicaran mas el odio y el rencor hacia su enemigo jurado (Japon) del pueblo coreano, que ajustara estricta cuenta de ello.

CRPP revela crimenes de los imperialistas japoneses

    Pyongyang, 17 de noviembre (ATCC) -- El secretariado del Comite por la Reunificacion Pacifica de la Patria (CRPP) emitio este viernes la informacion no. 926 con motivo del 101 aniversario del "tratado de cinco puntos Ulsa (1905)" que urdieron los imperialistas japoneses para tomar el dominio colonial sobre Corea. 　Con la falsificacion de este tratado los nipones se apoderaron de Corea convirtiendola en su colonia. Desde entonces los coreanos llevaron mas de 40 anos de la intolerable humillacion y maltrato, el sacrifico y desdichas, comienza el documento y continua:
    　Durante este periodo los imperialistas japoneses asesinaron a mas de un millon de coreanos inocentes, arrestaron forzadamente a mas de 8,4 millones para luego imponerles el trabajo esclavo medieval y reclutaron a 200 mil coreanas para utilizarlas como "consoladoras sexuales" de sus efectivos agresores. Asi cometieron crimenes antieticos sin precedentes.
    　Ademas, destruyeron y saquearon sin piedad las riquezas culturales y recursos naturales de Corea y arrebataron sin escrupulo hasta la lengua, letras, apellidos y nombres de los coreanos para esclavizarlos cabalmente.

    　Sin embargo, hasta la fecha los embellece y justifica en lugar de reflexionar y pedir disculpa a la nacion coreana y la humanidad por el respecto. Y tergiversa la historia y se entrega con frenesi a las maniobras de nueva agresion para arrebatar la isla Tok y ocupar el sagrado territorio coreano.
    　En particular, en adhesion activa a las maniobras norteamericanas de presion y sancion internacional contra la RPDC el pais-isla persigue abiertamente su politica de hostilidad a esta.
    　Los habitantes de distintos estratos del Sur y otros coreanos deben desplegar con mas dinamismo la lucha por recibir la indemnizacion de los crimenes perpetrados por los imperialistas japoneses y frustrar las maniobras de nueva agresion de los reaccionarios japoneses para que no se repita la historia del pasado de verguenza y martirio.

Rodong Sinmun comenta aumento armamentista del Sur de Corea

    Pyongyang, 17 de noviembre (ATCC) -- En estos dias, las fuerzas belicistas del Sur de Corea dan espuelas al desarrollo de armamentos de punta y otros equipos belicos apuntando al Norte de Corea. 　Siendo una abierta provocacion y desafio contra el Norte de Corea, esto deviene un crimen antinacional que busca la confrontacion militar y la guerra entre las dos partes de Corea en colaboracion con las maquinaciones de EE.UU. de provocar una guerra contra el Norte.
    　Senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual reportado este viernes y continua:
    　Tales acciones de las fuerzas belicistas surcoreanas, que coinciden con la campana de sancion y presion de EE.UU. contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, resultan una muestra evidente del cronico servilismo de ellas al imperio.
    　Al trabajar como lacayos en las maniobras de guerra de las fuerzas foraneas traicionando a la nacion coreana, ellas destruyen la paz y la causa de reunificacion del pais.
    　Ultimamente, pretextando la "amenaza" de alguien, ellas enmendaron junto con los imperialistas norteamericanos los provocativos planes operacionales de guerra contra el Norte, al mismo tiempo que andan enloquecidas por emplazar con anticipacion las ultramodernas armas de ataque de precision, entre otras, el caza "F-15K", el destructor Aegis y misil teledirigido aire-tierra.
    　Nunca se pueden justificar las maniobras de las fuerzas belicistas surcoreanas que dando espaldas a la voluntad y los intereses nacionales, cooperan con las fuerzas foraneas para causar la confrontacion y la guerra. La nacion coreana no las perdonara jamas.
