Kim Jong Il Inspects Drill Ground of KPA Unit 132

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the drill ground of KPA Unit 132. He looked round training apparatuses and facilities of the unit before watching the tactical training of commanding officers in the military lecture room. He was pleased to learn that the commanding officers of the unit have been trained as able officers who have acquired high operation commanding capability to successfully carry out the WPK's Juche-oriented military strategy by putting the training on a scientific and regular basis.
    He mounted an observation platform to watch soldiers' training. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that all the commanding officers and soldiers have been fully prepared as a-match-for-a hundred fighters. He highly appreciated the success made by them in training and set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines in bolstering the People's Army as invincible revolutionary armed forces.
    Our commanding officers and soldiers have built up Herculean strength to win one victory after another, he said, adding that no force on earth can match the KPA. Noting that the servicepersons of the unit have very strong enthusiasm for training, he underscored the need for the unit to pay primary attention to the combat and political training at all times, bearing deep in mind that the basic way of building up the matchless strength of the army, the master key to training soldiers as a-match-for-a hundred fighters is to intensify the above-said training.
    He took deep care of the soldiers' living, going round an education room, field quarters, mess hall, service facilities, a barn and various other places of the drill ground. He highly appreciated the efforts made by the unit, saying it is very good that it has successfully built the drill ground for satisfactorily ensuring various forms of training and entertainment, educational and supply service facilities, in particular, so that the soldiers in field training may not feel any slightest inconvenience in living. The servicepersons of the KPA are leading a well-regulated life by keeping their camping site neat and tidy even though they spend a single night, he said, adding that this clearly shows the strong discipline and inexhaustible mental power of the KPA, heir to the glorious traditions of the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Army. He gave servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars, a machinegun and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.
    He was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Hwang Pyong So.

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Saturday sent a congratulatory message to Felipe Calderon Hinojosa on his assumption of office as president of Mexico. The message wished the president success in his responsible work for the country's stability and prosperity, expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would develop on good terms in the interests and desire of the two peoples.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Staunch Struggle against Imperialism

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- To give up an anti-imperialist struggle means overlooking and tolerating the imperialists' moves for aggression and war, domination and subjugation and, furthermore, betraying the popular masses' cause of independence, It is necessary to steadily wage the anti-imperialist struggle as long as there remain the imperialists and their moves for domination persist. Rodong Sinmun Sunday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    People should never be deceived by the imperialists' offensive for "peace" and "human rights" but maintain a high degree of vigilance against it.
    The imperialists' loud-mouthed "peace" and "human rights" are bound to be accompanied by military intervention and war. This is a serious lesson taught by history. The global peace and genuine human rights can be guaranteed only when a firm anti-imperialist independent stand is held fast to.
    It is important to see through the reactionary nature and danger of the imperialists' moves for "globalization". Their loudmouthed "globalization" is nothing but a figleaf for covering up their strategy for dominating a unipolar world.

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The present worse situation urgently requires the Korean nation to wage a more dynamic struggle against the U.S. and war, Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article says, calling on all the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and abroad to get united as one to check and frustrate the U.S. imperialists' arrogant and criminal moves to invade the DPRK. It goes on:
    All the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and abroad should turn out as one in the struggle to defend peace and security of the country and the sovereign and vital rights of the nation from the U.S. imperialists' aggression and war moves. The present reality in which the nation's sovereign and vital rights are gravely threatened by the U.S. imperialist warmongers' frenzy for a war against the DPRK requires the fellow countrymen to turn out in the struggle against the U.S. and war irrespective of ideology, political views, classes and strata.
    Flunkeyism and dependence on foreign forces should be rejected in order to safeguard the peace of the country and the security of the nation from the U.S. imperialists' aggression and war moves.
    All the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and abroad should resolutely reject flunkeyism and dependence on outsiders with transparent consciousness and viewpoint of national independence that the issue of keeping peace of the country and the security of the nation can only be solved by the Korean nation itself. Stern punishment should be given to the south Korean flunkeyists and traitors including the "Grand National Party" which follow the U.S. imperialists in their criminal hostile policy toward the DPRK, while clamoring for cooperation with outsiders in disregard of the unanimous desire and demand of all the fellow countrymen. Rodong Sinmun Sunday says this in a signed article. The article goes on:
    Single-minded unity serves as a treasured sword which helps consolidate the political and ideological position of the DPRK as firm as a rock in any challenges of the imperialists.
    The U.S. imperialists and hostile forces are becoming all the more vicious in their ideological and cultural poisoning and psychological warfare in a bid to undermine Korean-style socialism. But no force on earth can break the single-minded unity of the whole army and all the people of the DPRK around the headquarters of the revolution. The might of the single-minded unity has been tremendously strengthened thanks to the Songun policy of leader Kim Jong Il.     The line of economic construction in the era of Songun, the policy on reconstructing and modernizing the national economy, the policy on keeping a great surge in agriculture and other lines and policies of the Workers' Party of Korea have been successfully implemented, so that the national power of the country has been strengthened in every way and the economy put on the track of invigoration and the foundation for fresh leaping progress laid.
    The single-minded unity of the whole army and all the people around the leader is, indeed, the most precious wealth of the Korean revolution and a treasured sword of invincible victory more powerful than nuclear weapons.

Halt to Suppression of Human Rights against Chongryon Demanded in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Representatives of 28 south Korean Buddhist organizations including the Buddhist Human Rights Committee, the Buddhist Peace Solidarity and the Buddhist Women's Society reportedly issued a joint statement titled "Japan should immediately stop suppression of human rights against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon)" on Nov. 28. Recalling that the Japanese authorities sent police to search 7 places including the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon, the statement condemned it as an abuse of the human rights of Koreans in Japan.
    It is an unpardonable act that the Japanese authorities have addressed themselves to the suppression of Chongryon instead of defending the property of Chongryon and lives of Koreans in Japan and ensuring their human rights, the statement noted, and went on: The Japanese authorities have intensified their moves to rig up plots against Chongryon and crackdown on it, availing themselves of the U.S. hostile policy toward the north.
    The Japanese authorities should make an apology to the whole Korean nation for their unreasonable crackdown upon Chongryon.
    They should be responsible for and repent of the past criminal atrocities against the Koreans.

Moves of S. Korean "Government" and Conservative Press under Fire

     Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Jang Song Hoe, chairman of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), reportedly released a statement on Nov. 28 to denounce the "government" and the conservative press for seeking to block the struggle against the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement (FTA)". The "government" and the security authorities have launched a desperate suppression offensive after the "Nov. 22 all-people action" and the conservative press is keen on distorted propaganda, slandering the participants in the action as "rioters", the statement said.
    Hanchongryon will put spurs to the struggle against the conclusion of the FTA together with the people, the statement said, demanding the "government" and the conservative press immediately stop negotiations for the conclusion of the unequal and disastrous FTA, not repeating the crimes committed during the military fascist dictatorship.

Cuban Military Attache Hosts Reception

     Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- Miguel Angel Gala Valiente, military attache of the Cuban embassy here, hosted a reception at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps on Friday on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cuban revolutionary armed forces. Present there on invitation were Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Thae Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Hyong Jun, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Jon Hyon Chan, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and general officers and officers of the Korean People's Army, officials concerned and diplomatic envoys and military attaches of different countries here.
    Present there was Ruben Perez Valdes, Cuban ambassador to the DPRK. Speeches were made there.

S. Korean Authorities' Crackdown upon People's Just Actions under Fire

     Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland Friday issued a statement demanding the south Korean authorities immediately stop the suppression of the people and organizations opposed to the conclusion of the south-Korea-U.S. FTA and give up the U.S.-imposed negotiations. It said:
    The south Korean authorities are brutally cracking down upon the demonstrations staged by hundreds of thousands of people of all strata in different parts of south Korea including Seoul recently in protest against the negotiations for the conclusion of "FTA". Such fascist outrage is unpardonable suppression perpetrated by sycophantic traitors. It is quite natural for the south Korean people to stage strikes, demonstrations, rallies and signature campaigns in protest against the negotiations for the conclusion of "FTA," terming it "a death sentence" against the south Korean economy," part of the U.S. strategy for domination" and the "second Ulsa Five-Point Treaty". Nevertheless, the south Korean authorities are intensifying their fascist crackdown upon the above-said people at the point of bayonet, going against the desire of the popular masses. This more saliently reveals their unpopular and treacherous nature as they are utterly indifferent to the demands of the people and the interests of the nation, the statement concluded.

Sharing Fund for Upkeep of U.S. Forces in S. Korea Rejected

     Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, an anti-war and peace organization in south Korea, reportedly held a press conference in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Seoul on Nov. 28 at which it rejected the negotiations on sharing the fund for the upkeep of the U.S. forces in south Korea. The press conference preceded the sixth negotiations on the conclusion of a special agreement on sharing the fund for the upkeep of the U.S. forces held in Seoul from Nov. 29 to 30.
    A press release read out at the conference denounced the south Korean side, claiming that it is a double or treble burden on its people to cover not only fund for the transfer of the U.S. military bases and their expansion according to the agreement on the transfer of the U.S. military base in Ryongsan and the joint land management program but also the fund for the upkeep of the U.S. forces.
    The press release demanded the south Korean "government" foil the U.S. attempt to maintain a lever for unlimited support for the U.S. forces at the forthcoming negotiations.
    It called for halting the farce of offering the fund for the upkeep of the U.S. under the pretext of military support and abrogating the special agreement on sharing the fund for the upkeep of the U.S. forces.
    At the end of the press conference its participants waged a struggle to seek an interview with the minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade before entering into a sit-in strike.

People's Actions Staged in Seoul

     Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- The second all-people actions were reportedly staged in Seoul on Nov. 29 to check the negotiations for the conclusion of south Korea-U.S. FTA. A meeting was slated to take place in Seoul Railway Station Plaza that day under the sponsorship of the south Korean Agricultural, Stockbreeding and Fisheries Emergency Committee of Measures against FTA but the police completely sealed off the gates to the venue of the event by rushing its 14 companies there.
    Representatives of peasant organization held a press conference inside the railway station in protest against the police crackdown.
    Speakers at the conference accused the "government" of unilaterally scuttling the meeting by mobilizing the police, utterly indifferent to the pain the peasants would suffer due to the conclusion of the above-said agreement, adding that this has triggered off bitterer resentment among them.
    At least 3000 peasants staged meetings and demonstrations in different parts of Seoul. They gathered in the Ulji Intersection after breaking through the police cordon all of a sudden to hold a meeting to rouse all people to actions for checking the conclusion of FTA.
    The participants of the meeting demanded the "government" halt at once the above-mentioned negotiations as FTA is aimed at ruining the life of not only peasants but all other people and leaving everything in this land to the tender mercy of the U.S. That evening peasants from various parts of south Korea held a candlelight event in Myongdong in which they vowed to intensify their actions for checking the negotiations.

Housing Construction in Ryanggang Province

     Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- More than three thousand dwelling houses have been built in Ryanggang Province, the northern part of Korea. The houses are for those who were removed in connection with the construction of the Samsu Power Station and the Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station. The villages are located on the shore of hydro-power station reservoirs and in beautiful and sunny places at the foot of mountains, each having scores of blocks. Each block for one or two families is well furnished with all furniture. While giving field guidance to the construction site of the Samsu Power Station in March, leader Kim Jong Il acquainted himself with the housing issue of the removed families. And he instructed officials that nation-wide assistance should be rendered to the housing construction there and construction forces and materials provided to it preferentially.
    The Cabinet, ministries and national institutions took positive measures to provide construction forces and materials, with the result that the housing construction had been completed in a matter of several months.
    The builders are making preparation for the second phase project following the completion of the first phase project.

Esta planta, situada en un sitio magnifico, esta disenada de modo que se pudiera materializar el principio de ganancias reales, dijo el.
    Se mostro muy satisfecho de la construccion de esa nueva creacion eterna del pais y evaluo altamente los meritos de los constructores.
    Destaco que el Complejo de Construccion de Plantas Hidroelectricas de Kangdong, encargado de la obra, es una entidad constructora de grandes meritos, que hizo enorme contribucion a la electrificacion del pais al edificar numerosas centrales como la del rio Jangja y las de Sodusu y Thaechon, y llamo a dar continuidad a esas orgullosas tradiciones de lucha.
    Es un gran exito el que aun en dificiles condiciones, los militantes del partido y los trabajadores de la provincia de Hwanghae del Norte y de dicho complejo levantan satisfactoriamente esta moderna central bajo la consigna de fe "!Cumplimos si lo decide el Partido!", remarco el Dirigente y prosiguio que este brillante milagro es el resultado de las inagotables fuerzas del pueblo coreano unido monoliticamente en torno al partido. Despues de fijar las fases de la construccion, enseno que para aumentar la eficiencia de la inversion, hay que adelantar la operacion de la central a fin de producir la electricidad tan pronto como termine la instalacion del generador. Los constructores de la obra deben concluirla cuanto antes exaltando el temperamento heroico de Corea del Songun (priorizacion militar) con el coraje redoblado por el espiritu revolucionario de los militares y el de la lucha tenaz, acoto. La edificacion de centrales de ese tipo resulta economica y al mismo tiempo deviene el atajo para cubrir satisfactoriamente las crecientes demandas sobre la electricidad, preciso y subrayo la necesidad de seguir cumpliendo consecuentemente la politica del PTC de construir en gran medida las plantas de mediano y pequeno tamanos junto con las de gran dimension.
    Senalo que ya comenzaron a aportar beneficios numerosas plantas construidas en los ultimos anos en las provincias de Jagang, de Phyong-an del Norte, de Hamgyong del Sur y del Norte y de Kangwon y otras localidades del pais y resalto que a esto se suma la edificacion sucesiva de nuevas centrales.
    Por ultimo, aseguro que se producira en un futuro cercano un viraje trascendental en la solucion del problema de energia electrica si se explotan de modo general los abundantes recursos hidraulicos del pais.

Agregado militar cubano ofrece banquete por el Dia de las FAR

    @Pyongyang, 2 de diciembre (ATCC) -- En ocasion del 50o aniversario del Dia de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Cuba, el agregado militar de la Embajada de la Republica de Cuba en Corea, Miguel Angel Gala Valiente, ofrecio la vispera un banquete en el Club Taedonggang para el Cuerpo Diplomatico. A la recepcion, fueron invitados el ministro de las Fuerzas Armadas Populares, Kim Il Chol, el subjefe de departamento del Comite Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Kim Thae Jong, el vicecanciller Kim Hyong Jun, el vicepresidente del Comite de Relaciones Culturales con el Extranjero, Jon Hyon Chan, generales y oficiales del Ejercito Popular de Corea, y otros funcionarios, asi como los representantes diplomaticos y agregados militares de las embajadas de varios paises en Corea. Estuvo presente tambien el embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario cubano, Ruben Perez Valdes.

Iniciado en Seul segundo "levantamiento general popular"

    @Pyongyang, 2 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Segun trascendidos, se inicio el 29 de noviembre en Seul el segundo "levantamiento general popular" para frustrar las negociaciones para la concertacion del "Tratado de Libre Comercio" (TLC) Sur de Corea-Estados Unidos. Este dia, 14 companias policiales bloquearon completamente la explanada frente a la estacion de Seul donde estaba programado el mitin de juramento bajo el auspicio del "comite de medidas emergentes del sector agropecuario y la pesca contra el TLC Sur de Corea-Estados Unidos".
    En un gesto de protesta a la represion de la policia, los campesinos concedieron en el edificio de dicha estacion una rueda de prensa de los delegados de entidades campesinas. En la ocasion, los oradores denunciaron que el "gobierno" produce gran indignacion al estropear unilateralmente el mitin movilizando a las policias sin tomar en cuenta los sufrimientos que impondria a los campesinos la firma del "TLC" con EE.UU. Mas de 3 mil agricultores, quienes estaban de manifestacion en varios lugares de Seul, burlaron de repente el cordon policial y se congregaron en el Cruce de Uljiro donde llevaron a cabo el "acto del levantamiento general popular para impedir la firma del TLC Sur de Corea-EE.UU.".
    Los participantes en el conclave denunciaron que el "gobierno" impulsa las negociaciones para la concertacion del "TLC" que destruira la vida de los campesinos y otros habitantes y entregara en bandeja todas las riquezas nacionales a EE.UU. y demandaron suspenderlas inmediatamente.
    En horas nocturnas del mismo dia, los campesinos provenientes de distintas localidades del Sur de Corea realizaron un acto con velas encendidas en Myongdong expresando la voluntad de intensificar la lucha por frustrar dichas negociaciones.

Construidas viviendas en la provincia de Ryanggang

    @Pyongyang, 2 de diciembre (ATCC) -- En la tierra de Ryanggang, zona septentrional de Corea se construyeron viviendas para mas de 3 mil familias. Se trata de domicilios construidos para las familias evacuadas debido a la construccion de la Planta Hidroelectrica Samsu y la Planta Hidroelectrica Juvenil Songun del monte Paektu.
    Se colocaron nuevas viviendas dispersadas aqui y alla por unidad de decenas de edificios en areas montanosas pintorescas y bien soleadas de las periferias de las presas de plantas electricas convertidas en "mares".
    Son edificios para una o dos familias dotados de todos utensilios domesticos. El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, llegado en marzo pasado al lugar de construccion de la planta hidroelectrica Samsu, se preocupo del problema de viviendas de las familias evacuadas y tomo las medidas para brindar la ayuda nacional a la construccion de las viviendas de ellas y resolver primordialmente las fuerzas y los materiales de construccion.
    El Consejo de Ministros, ministerios y organos centrales tomaron las activas medidas para asegurarlas y terminaron la construccion de viviendas en unos meses. Los constructores que acabaron la obra de primera etapa dan acicate a los preparativos de la obra de segunda etapa.
