Seminar and Book Exhibition Held in Italy

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- A seminar and book exhibition on the justice of the Juche idea and Songun idea were held in Rome on Dec. 1 under the co-sponsorship of the Italian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Italian Committee for the Study of Songun Idea for Independence and Sovereignty. On display in the venue of the functions were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and Korean books introducing the justice and vitality of the Juche idea and Songun idea.
    Aldo Bernardini, chairman of the Italian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, addressing the seminar, explained how the Juche idea was founded, its essential contents and its originality, stressing that Kim Il Sung founded the Juche idea and applied it to the reality of Korea, establishing and consolidating the socialist system centred on the popular masses.
    Matteo Carbonelli, vice-chairman of the above-said committee, said his several visits to the DPRK firmly convinced him that it is the best country where the Juche idea and Songun idea have been embodied, adding that it has turned into a country of the people, a powerful socialist state as it holds Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem.
    Miriam Pellegrini Ferri, chairman of the Italian Committee for the Study of Songun Idea for Independence and Sovereignty, noted that the Korean people have made big achievements in their efforts to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and achieve national reunification under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Meeting of Front-rankers in Songun Revolution to Be Held

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- A meeting of front-rankers in the Songun revolution will be held here in February Juche 96 (2007). The meeting will bring together servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, officials and working people who have distinguished themselves in the struggle to foil the imperialists' moves for a nuclear war and sanctions and pressure against the DPRK and glorify the dignity and honor of Juche Korea by performing miracles and heroic feats in socialist construction, true to the Songun revolutionary leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
    The meeting will review the shining achievements and experience gained by the servicepersons and people of the DPRK in the political, military, economic and cultural and all other fields, single-mindedly united around the Party since the meeting for the general march of the Songun revolution. It will discuss tasks to be undertaken to give full play to the mettle of the nuclear weapons state, increase the national power of Juche Korea in every way and more dynamically accelerate the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and ways to do so.

Agreement between ITF and WTF Adopted

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The International Taekwon-Do Federation and the World Taekwon-Do Federation agreed on　setting a "coordinating committee for their merger" after reaffirming the common understanding that the existing two organizations of Taekwon-Do, the Korean orthodox martial art, should be one. An agreement on this was adopted in Doha, Qatar, on Dec. 2.
    In the agreement both sides decided to set up the "Coordinating Committee for Their Merger" tasked to simultaneously deal with the issue of administrative and technical integration of the two Taekwon-Do organizations and coordinate the technical rules on a preferential basis with respect for the contents of the agreement adopted on June 28, 2005.
    It was agreed to form the above-said committee with co-chairmen on the vice-presidential level and 3-5 members including technical chairman from both sides and operate the committee through mutual consultation.
    The agreement was signed by Jang Ung, president of the ITF, and Jo Jong Won, president of the WTF, respectively.

16th Anniversary of Pomminryon Marked in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) reportedly held a ceremony in Seoul on Dec. 3 in celebration of the 16th anniversary of Pomminryon. Addressing the ceremony, Ri Kyu Jae, chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon, recalled that Pomminryon has worked energetically over the past 16 years to achieve national reunification by united efforts of the nation.
    Pomminryon, he stated, is waging a staunch struggle to frustrate the U.S. moves for a war and defend peace on the Korean Peninsula, holding aloft the banner of the patriotic movement for independent reunification, for peace against war and for great national unity.
    A congratulatory message from the North Headquarters of Pomminryon was conveyed to the ceremony.
    The resolution read out at the ceremony said all the forces supporting the June 15 joint declaration should unite and win victory without fail in the confrontation between the Korean nation and the U.S.
    Pomminryon will energetically wage the struggle for defense of peace against the U.S. and war and the struggle for independent reunification, upholding the banner of "By our nation itself," declared the resolution.

Holding High Banner of Songun Called for

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The banner of Songun held higher by Kim Jong Il, inheriting President Kim Il Sung's idea and tradition of Songun, has served as a great banner of independence and a treasured sword reflecting patriotism as it has put the dignity and pride of the Korean nation on the highest level. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
    The sovereignty and dignity of a nation can be firmly protected by the force of arms.
    Independence would be unthinkable unless it is guaranteed by the force of arms. One cannot counter any hostile forces with empty talk and fists when they come out to attack one with bayonet in order to violate one's independence. It is necessary to beat back armed invasion with arms and return fire for fire.
    The history of the Korean nation taught us a bitter lesson that a country with a weak army cannot defend its national sovereignty and is bound to meet a wretched lot of a ruined nation as miserable as a dog in a house of death.
    The world history and the present reality also clearly suggest that a country with a weak army can never exercise political independence and influence in the international arena and will allow itself to have its sovereignty violated by foreign forces in the end.
    The great banner of Songun has served as an invincible treasured sword as it has defended the sovereignty and dignity of the Korean nation with powerful armed forces from the high-handed acts and aggression and paved a wide avenue of accomplishing the cause of national independence.
    The idea of Songun that clarified the Juche-oriented philosophy on the army and the principle of army building provided a sure guarantee for winning victory in the acute confrontation with armed hostile forces and independently carving out the destiny of the Korean nation. The Korean revolution aimed to achieve national independence started and has emerged victorious with arms.
    National independence would be unthinkable apart from Songun. The Korean nation had no one to whom it could complain even when Japan forced Korea to sign a treaty that led to a national ruin by mobilizing artillery pieces and guns and stormed into the Royal palace to burn its Queen to death in the past. But today more than a century since then, the Korean nation is displaying its dignity as a strong nation with tremendous deterrence and is strong enough to wipe out any formidable enemy. This is the pride and honor brought by Songun to the Korean nation.
    Such high dignity and honor of the Korean nation are ascribable to Songun. It has become a source of the dignity, pride and might of the nation.
    No force on earth can ever match this invincible might of Songun.

Moves to Round off "CONPLAN 5029" under Fire

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The warlike forces of the United States and south Korea were reported to have agreed at the 38th south Korea-U.S. "annual security consultative meeting" held in Washington in October to round off "CONPLAN 5029" the keynote of which is how to cope with what they called "an emergency situation," etc. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland in a statement issued on Thursday said the decision to round off the already publicized "CONPLAN 5029" is aimed to convert the conception plan into a real military operational plan. This is an extension of the long-stepped up war moves against the DPRK and a dangerous move to mount a preemptive military attack on it at any cost, the statement said.
    Branding the moves to perfect the "CONPLAN 5029" as an intolerable provocation openly revealing the ambition to invade the DPRK, the statement vehemently denounced the decision in the name of all the Koreans desirous of peace and reunification of the country.
    Holding the U.S. and the south Korean warhawks chiefly responsible for bringing a danger of war to the Korean Peninsula and throwing a stumbling block in the way of solving the nuclear issue, the statement termed them harassers of peace and war fanatics.
    The statement warned:
    If they ignite a war on this land at any cost despite the repeated warnings of the DPRK its army and people will mobilize all war deterrent forces they have built under the banner of Songun and deal merciless blows at the aggressors.
    The U.S. and the south Korean warhawks had better stop running amuck and immediately halt working on the reckless operational plan to invade the DPRK.
    The south Korean authorities should behave themselves, facing up to the trend of the times, and halt such a shameless act as joining the U.S. in its moves for a war of aggression against the DPRK.

"Sejong Musical Note", Cultural Heritage of Korean Nation

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The musical note collection "Sejong Musical Note" is a cultural heritage of the Korean nation. It is a signal development of the musical notation. The collection is also called the "Musical Note of True Records of King Sejong" as it is carried in the book "True Records of King Sejong." Sejong (1397-1450) was the fourth king of the Ri Dynasty (1392-1910).
    The two-volume musical collection was published in around 1447 by Pak Yon, a talented musician.
    It is a kind of score which consists of instruments, musical parts, words of songs and others.
    Given in the collection are the royal literary and art works created in the period of the Ri Dynasty and other literary and art works handed down from preceding periods.
    Having more than 80 pieces of poems and songs and works of foreign countries, it is important for studying the history of literature.
    It carries long words of song "Ryongbiochonga" with 125 musical movements and other similar works. They were created by applying the form of long poem written in Korean alphabet "Hunmin Jongum" and rich poem description methods, with the result that it is of great value in the light of history of developing national poems and songs in the middle ages.
    The music is based on the melody of the folk-music in the main and its description method is also based on the experience in the creation of folk songs and other popular poems and songs.
    "Sejong Musical Note" reflects the then developed professional music and carries many pieces of musical works reflecting the traditional forms of national songs and peculiar melodies. It, therefore, is of weighty significance in the musical history.

Scientific Elucidation to Human Life

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The Juche idea gave a new exposition to the issue related to human life for the first time in history. The issue of view and attitude of life is the very one related to the outlook on life, the issue of human living, which constitutes an important component of the philosophical outlook on the world.
    Kim Jong Il, basing himself on the principle that man is a social being with independence, creativity and consciousness and socio-political integrity is most precious for man, expounded in a scientific way that a true life lies in the worthy struggle for independent and creative life.

    People have formed a collective and shaped their destiny by the method of unity and cooperation since olden times.
    The worthy and happy life is the life based only on the collective principle, which can be created and enjoyed in the devoted endeavors for the society and the collective.
    It is also the life run through with warm love for, trust in and obligation toward human being.
    Only the social being who conducts creative activities for independence can show a true love for the people and enjoy love from others.
    The human love serves as a driving power of the struggle for independence of popular masses and as a solid bond for the unity and collaboration of the people and as the foundation of collectivism and patriotism.
    The scientific formulation of the essence of the human life provides a powerful ideological and theoretical weapon for thoroughly overcoming all sorts of reactionary view of life as well as the starting foundation for the revolutionary view of life.

Japan Urged to Stop Suppression of Koreans in Japan

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification reportedly made public a statement titled "Japan, stop at once infamous suppression of Koreans in Japan" on Dec. 1. The statement recalled that Japan recently forced searches into institutions related to the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) including the Hall of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon and the Talent Dispatch Company run by a Korean in Japan, crying that "a woman of Chongryon attempted to carry out medicaments secretly" and that "the Korean Science and Technology Association in Japan attempted to provide the DPRK with latest technology".
    It noted that Japan imposed tax levies on the Chongryon-related buildings which have been exempted from taxation for being listed as diplomatic facilities, banned the entry of the ship Mangyonbong-92 into Japanese ports and decided to seize even medicaments supplied by international relief organizations under the nonsensical pretext that they "might be diverted to the manufacture of weapons."
    The terrorism of Japan against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan clearly shows what lengths the militarists have gone in their shamelessness, the statement said, adding: Nothing can justify the hostile policy towards the DPRK and the terrorism against Chongryon in which Japan is going on a rampage.
    It further said:
    Japan should promptly stop all its violence against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan and sincerely set about normalization of relations with the DPRK according to the agreement reached in the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration. It should lift sanctions against the DPRK and stop suppressing Chongryon and totally renounce its intrigues to revive militarism.

Kim Jong Il Inspects Battalion of KPA Unit

    Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected a women's battalion of KPA Unit 3993. He learned about the battalion's performance of its duty before watching the training of servicepersons. He set forth tasks to be undertaken to boost the combat capability of the battalion, praising its servicepersons for having prepared themselves to satisfactorily perform their combat duties.
    He acquainted himself in detail with the service and living of its servicepersons, going round an education room, bedroom, mess hall, kitchen, wash-cum-bath house, non-staple food store and other places.
    He was pleased to learn that the battalion has spruced up its servicepersons' quarters and reaped an unprecedentedly rich harvest this year by successfully doing sideline farming.
    He spared time to watch an art performance given by servicepersons.
    He gave the servicepersons of the battalion a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.

Songun es dignidad y orgullo de nacion coreana

    Pyongyang, 7 de diciembre (ATCC) -- La bandera del Songun (priorizacion militar), que levanto en lo mas alto el Dirigente Kim Jong Il heredando la ideologia y la tradicion del Songun del Presidente Kim Il Sung, deviene la gran bandera de independencia y el remedio patriotico, que multiplicaron al sumo grado la dignidad y el orgullo de la nacion coreana. Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 7 y continua:
    La soberania y la dignidad de la nacion pueden ser defendidas y realizadas con exito solo por las fuerzas armadas.
    No puede haber la soberania que no sea garantizada por el fusil. No se puede hacer frente con palabras vanas o punos inermes a las fuerzas hostiles que se arremeten con fusiles y espadas para pisotear la independencia. Es una ley responder con el fusil al fusil y con el fuego al fuego.
    La historia de la nacion coreana dejo una leccion ensangrentada de que si un pais es debil en sus fuerzas armadas, no podra defender la soberania de la nacion y su destino y se convierte en el esclavo colonial peor que un perro sin dueno.
    Tambien, la historia del mundo y la realidad de hoy demuestran que contando con debiles fuerzas militares, no se puede ejercer la independencia politica y la influencia en la escena internacional, ni evitar que sea violada la soberania por las fuerzas foraneas.
    La gran bandera del Songun sirve de una espada invencible que apoyandose en las poderosas fuerzas armadas detiene el despotismo y la agresion, defiende la soberania y la dignidad de nuestra nacion y abre el camino luminoso de la causa de la independencia nacional.
    La ideologia del Songun, que ilumino la filosofia y principio originales sobre las fuerzas armadas, preparo la firme garantia para lograr el triunfo en la aguda confrontacion militar con las fuerzas hostiles y forjar de manera independiente el destino de la nacion. La revolucion coreana para realizar la independencia de la nacion coreana se inicio con las fuerzas armadas y ha venido triunfando apoyandose en las mismas.
    Al margen del Songun no se puede pensar en la independencia nacional. En el pasado, los coreanos no podian quejarse a nadie de las barbaridades de los agresores japoneses que obligaron la firma del tratado colonialista amenazando con el fusil y el canon y asesinaron quemando a la reina tras agredir hasta el palacio real de Corea. Pero, hoy en dia, mas de cien anos despues desde entonces, Corea exalta su dignidad como nacion fuerte con el poderoso disuasivo militar y cuenta con grandes fuerzas, que pueden destruir a todos los enemigos poderosos. Esto es el orgullo y dignidad de la nacion coreana, producidos por el Songun.
    El Songun es la dignidad, orgullo y energia de nuestra nacion.
    En el mundo no habra ninguna fuerza que pueda superar el poderio del Songun.

Se convocara conferencia de precursores de revolucion del Songun

    Pyongyang, 7 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Tendra lugar en febrero del 96 (2007) de la Era Juche en esta capital la Conferencia de Precursores de la Revolucion del Songun (priorizacion militar). En el conclave, participaran los oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular de Corea, los funcionarios y trabajadores de diferentes estratos, quienes al crear milagros y meritos heroicos en la construccion del socialismo en pleno acato a la direccion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea sobre la revolucion mediante el Songun, contribuyeron extraordinariamente a exaltar la dignidad y el honor de Corea del Juche frustrando las maniobras de los imperialistas encaminadas a provocar una guerra nuclear contra la RPDC, sancionar y presionar a la misma.
    En la ocasion seran balanceados los exitos y experiencias orgullosos, que unidos monoliticamente en torno al partido, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea lograron despues del congreso de marcha general de la revolucion del Songun en todas las ramas de la politica, los asuntos militares, la economia y la cultura, y se debatiran las tareas y los remedios que se presentan para demostrar a plenitud el aspecto del pais con armas nucleares, fortalecer por todos los medios las fuerzas nacionales de Corea del Juche y acelerar con mas vigor la construccion de una gran potencia prospera socialista.
