DPRK Full of Confidence in Victory

     Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- All the people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have greeted the New Year Juche 96(2007) full of confidence in victory. They, with great optimism, are all out in response to the dynamic call "Usher in a great heyday of Songun Korea full of confidence in victory!" set forth in the joint New Year editorial of Rodong Sinmun, Joson Inmingun and Chongnyon Jonwi. Last year they keenly experienced that the army and people of the DPRK were entirely right when they had invariably followed the road of Songun over the past 10-odd years in the face of the severest trials and came to have a firm belief that they can certainly build a great, prosperous and powerful nation in near future.
    Under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, the Korean people have augmented the strength of the nation remarkably and secured a springboard for a fresh leap forward in all sectors of the socialist economic construction.     Surging are the enthusiasm of officials and working people in the people's committees of all levels and the fields of light industry and public service who are positively responding to the call of the Party for directing the primary effort to improving the standard of the people's living as the main task in the present general march. The editorial says that the people should, as in the past, keep up farming as the great foundation of the country and make an epoch-making advance in solving the problem of food for them.
    In response to the call, the agricultural workers, with a firm determination to increase the grain production this year, are striving hard to acquire new arable land and raise the fertility of soil while energetically carrying on the water-way project of Miru Plain to be converted into a granary.
    With responsibility for a pilot of the national economy, the workers in the field of the electric power industry including the Pyongyang Thermal-power Complex are brilliantly carrying out their daily assignments from the beginning of the year. The workers of the Musan Mine Complex, who had succeeded in blasting 100,000 cubic meters of earth on the first day of the year to make a breakthrough in turning out large quantities of concentrated iron ore, are making every effort to hit the production target for the first month of the year.
    Labor achievements have been reported from the Songjin Steel Complex, the Ryongsong Machinery Complex and other industrial establishments.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Glorifying This Year with Proud Victories and Feats

     Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday in an editorial calls for glorifying with proud victories and feats the significant year of 2007, in which the Korean people will commemorate the 95th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung and the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People's Army. Noting that the army and people of the DPRK are speeding up the grand march to glorify this auspicious year, full of great pride and self-confidence of being victors in warm response to the joint New Year editorial, Rodong Sinmun says: It is necessary to bring about a revolutionary turn in the economic construction and the efforts to improve the standard of the people's living with the might of invincible Songun politics and single-minded unity of the whole Party, the entire army and all the people around the headquarters of the revolution this year.

Ushering in Heyday of Cause of Independent Reunification Urged

     Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday calls for adding brilliance to the June 15 era of reunification by forcefully accelerating the march toward independent reunification this year. The author of the article says:
    "Add brilliance to the June 15 reunification era by attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity!" This is the slogan which the whole nation should uphold this year. It clearly indicates the fighting tasks the Korean nation should carry out in the new year.
    "By our nation itself", the spirit of the June 15 era of reunification, is the most steadfast idea of attaching importance to the nation. The Korean nation should regard it as the strict rule to develop the inter-Korean relations and the reunification movement according to the idea of "By our nation itself".
    The struggle to safeguard peace is a just patriotic struggle for defending the existence of the nation and its land of living. All the fellow countrymen should turn out as one man in the struggle to defend peace with death-defying will, staking the destiny of the cause of independent reunification and the security of the nation. All the Koreans in the north, the south and overseas should intensify the struggle to consolidate the achievements made in the patriotic movement for the great unity of the nation last year and boost the unity of the entire nation. This work gives a scientific exposition of the main cause of the collapse of socialism in some countries and indicates a clear road to the victory of socialism, the author of the article says, and goes on: The 15 years following the publication of the work were days when the sagacity of Kim Jong Il's leadership in guiding the cause of socialism to victory under the banner of Juche has been strikingly demonstrated.
    The leadership exploits performed by him in setting a brilliant example of building socialism under the banner of Songun find manifestation, above all, in that he provided an ideological and theoretical guideline for the victorious advance of socialism. On the basis of the unique revolutionary principle that the army is the party, the state and the people, he set forth the Songun revolutionary line and clearly expounded the strategy and tactics of the revolution in the Songun era, thus making it possible for the army and people of the DPRK to victoriously advance the cause of socialism based on a scientific revolutionary idea.

Pyongyangites Meet to Vow to Implement Tasks of Joint New Year Editorial

     Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- A mass rally of Pyongyangites was held at Kim Il Sung Square Thursday to vow to bring about a fresh turn in building a great prosperous and powerful nation by dynamically pushing forward the Songun revolution in warm response to the joint editorial this year. The rally was attended by Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Ki Nam, Vice-Premiers Kwak Pom Gi and Ro Tu Chol, Cabinet members, leading officials of ministries, national institutions and working people's organizations, officials of the party and power organs, economic institutions and working people's organizations in the city, labor heroes, labor innovators and working people in the city. Rare Birds Fly in Migrant Reserve

     Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- More and more rare birds inhabit the Mundok Migrant Reserve on the western coast of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. There is a vast tideland on the low River Chongchon flowing into the West Sea of Korea. According to the data available, there live more than 180 species of birds with over 150 species of migrants of them.
    The number of birds is approximately 50,000 and increases considerably year by year. World-wide efforts have been made to protect ecological system in swampy lands as an important link for biodiversity and international cooperation and exchange for it intensified.
    Already from 10-odd years ago, the DPRK government has set the area with rich biodiversity for its natural and geographical features as a migrant reserve and paid a deep attention to its management.
    Several plans for protection and management of the reserve have been worked out so far and a biodiversity survey system was developed and used. And relevant agencies have conducted varied activities in close contact with different international environmental protection organizations.
    Inhabiting there are such rare birds as black-faced spoonbill, Manchurian crane, white-fronted goose, white stork and spoon-billed sandpiper which are threatened with extinction around the world.
    The Mundok Migrant Reserve is located on the route of seasonal birds.

Samurais' War Hysteria under Fire

     Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- The director general of the Japan Defence Agency and other samurais were recently reported to have provoked the DPRK by crying out for military sanctions against it. This comes under fire by a signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun Thursday. It is not only an intolerable insult to the DPRK but an undisguised war outcry that the group of militarists of this island country dared compare the DPRK with Japan before the World War II, the commentary notes, and goes on:
    Lurking behind this diatribe is their sinister intention to impose international blockade upon the DPRK and, furthermore, use force against it by labeling it a "dangerous state." This is clearly evidenced by the fact that the ruling quarters and the gentry of the Liberal Democratic Party of the island country called for stepping up the preparations for its participation in the above-said military sanctions. The DPRK has already clarified that it would regard any sanctions against it as a war declaration.
    The Japanese militarists' talk about military sanctions against the DPRK is intended to seize it through preemptive strikes as they precisely mean military attacks on it. This reflects the nature of the samurais who have grown corpulent through aggression, war and plunder and are keen to get richer by the same method in the future, too. The above-said militarists are leaving no means untried to revenge the defeat suffered by the Japanese imperialists in the past, far from drawing a lesson from it. They have watched for a chance to stage a comeback to Korea for several decades since the end of the war, whetting their swords.
    This is one of the reasons why the ruling quarters in the land of Japs have deliberately deteriorated the DPRK-Japan relations, persistently raising the "abduction issue" which had already found its settlement.
    The aggressive nature and ambition of the Japanese militarists remain unchanged and their moves for reinvasion of Korea are getting more frantic as the days go by. Should the Japanese militarists dare preempt invasion of the DPRK to put it under their control, its army and people will deal merciless blows at them by the force of Songun and vent the towering grudge of the Korean people against their sworn enemy.

     Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Wednesday sent a message of sympathy to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in connection with the crash of a passenger plane in the air over Sulawesi, Indonesia, that claimed heavy casualties. In the message Kim expressed profound sympathy and consolation to the Indonesian President and through him to the victims and their bereaved families.

Rodong Sinmun comenta el belicismo de los samurais contra la RPDC

    .Pyongyang, 4 de enero (ATCC) -- El rotativo Rodong Sinmun difundio este jueves un comentario individual que senala en particular: Recientemente, el director general de la Agencia de Defensa y otros samurais del archipielago japones plantean abiertamente el problema de la sancion militar contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
    De mal en peor, esa horda de militaristas comparo a la RPDC con aquel Japon antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, lo cual deviene un insoportable insulto y el belicismo declarado contra la primera.
    Ellos abrigan una siniestra intencion de bloquear en el ambito internacional a la RPDC acusandola del "pais peligroso" para usar luego las fuerzas armadas. En ese sentido, los gobernantes y los pandilleros del Partido Democratico Liberal del pais-isla abogan por acicatear los preparativos para la sancion militar contra la RPDC. La RPDC ya dejo en claro que tomaria por la declaracion de guerra cualquier tipo de sancion contra si misma.
    La sancion militar significa precisamente la teoria de ataque militar, segun la cual los militaristas japoneses quieren invadir a la RPDC mediante el golpe preventivo. Al mismo tiempo, refleja el temperamento de los samurais que se alimentaron de agresiones, guerras y saqueos y quieren enriquecerse mas a traves de estos metodos. En estos tiempos, los militaristas islenos andan imprudentemente para compensarse de la derrota de su pais en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en lugar de sacar debidas lecciones.
    En particular, durante varios decenios despues del fin de esa conflagracion mundial, vinieron acechando la oportunidad para invadir a la RPDC.
    En este contexto, los gobernantes japoneses empeoran intencionalmente las relaciones con la RPDC cuestionando obstinadamente el ya resuelto "problema del secuestro".
    No hubo ningun cambio en el caracter agresivo y la ambicion de los militaristas japoneses quienes intensifican cada dia mas sus maniobras de nueva agresion. Si ellos se atreven a abrir primero el fuego contra la RPDC, el ejercito y el pueblo de esta los castigaran implacablemente con el poderio del Songun (priorizacion militar) y se libraran del gran rencor guardado del enemigo jurado (Japon).

Rodong Sinmun llama a glorificar el ano 2007 con victorias y proezas

    　Pyongyang, 4 de enero (ATCC) -- El diario Rodong Sinmun publico este jueves un editorial con enfasis en que se debe glorificar con orgullosas victorias y proezas este jubiloso ano en que se cumpliran el 95o aniversario del natalicio del Presidente Kim Il Sung y el 75o de la fundacion del Ejercito Popular de Corea. 　Ahora, en pleno acato al editorial conjunto publicado por los diarios Rodong Sinmun, Joson Inmingun y Chongnyon Jonwi en ocasion del Ano Nuevo, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea emprendieron con el orgullo de triunfadores la impetuosa marcha para glorificar el ano en curso, precisa el editorial y prosigue:
    　Se debe lograr un viraje revolucionario en la lucha por la construccion economica y la mejora de la vida del pueblo con el invencible poderio del Songun (priorizacion militar) y de la unidad monolitica en torno a la Direccion de la Revolucion. 　Todo el partido, todo el ejercito y todo el pueblo deben levantarse unanimemente para producir un nuevo auge revolucionario con el poderio del Songun y coronar este ano como un periodo de plena prosperidad, sin precedente en la historia del partido y la patria. He aqui la tarea mas importante de hoy.

Vedado de aves migratorias en Mundok

    .Pyongyang, 4 de enero (ATCC) -- En estos tiempos, anidan muchas aves raras en el vedado de Mundok, situado en la marisma pantanosa extendida a lo largo de las costas del Mar Oeste de Corea donde confluyen las aguas del rio Chongchon. .$B!!.(BSegun datos estadisticos, en este lugar habitan aproximadamente 50 mil pajaros de mas de 180 especies, de ellas mas de 150 migratorias, cifra que va creciendo cada ano. En la actualidad se activan a escala mundial los esfuerzos por proteger la biosfera de cienagas, que deviene un requisito importante de la biodiversidad, y se estrechan la cooperacion e intercambios para este fin.
    Ya hace mas de 10 anos, el gobierno de la RPDC fijo esta zona de magnifica biodiversidad como zona de proteccion de aves migratorias y vino prestando profunda atencion a la conservacion de la misma.
    En este curso, elaboro en varias ocasiones los planes de proteccion y cuidado y desarrollo el sistema de vigilancia de biodiversidad.
